She told Mae a version of the truth. More truthful than what Osha was told, but still not the full, objective truth. And it's also a second-hand account.

3:45 The sensory deprivation helmets have always been a thing, even since A New Hope. It's the point of that helmet Luke used on the Millennium Falcon to train with his lightsaber. And then we saw all the Jedi Younglings use them in the prequels. Though... I don't think they had specifically said it blocks all other senses besides just sight until now.
7:17 So... I'm not sure what Senator Rayencourt's beef with the Jedi is, but I will say that, even a thousand years after the New Sith Empire (the last iteration of the Sith known to the Galaxy to exist) was eradicated, the collective memory of the damage the Sith had done to the Galaxy over the course of millennia is still very much present. And from the perspective of the general population of the Galaxy, who don't understand the difference between the various Force Orders (such the Jedi Order and Sith Empires), the Jedi are just as big a threat in that they are, as Rayencourt said "unchecked power, posing as a religion." I will also remind you that the Jedi Order, at their absolute peak, numbered around 10,000 (and not all, but most of them were lightsaber-wielding Knights). And there are *billions* of planets in the Galaxy (3.2 Billion habitable star systems).
To put it this way... if we assume just 5 habitable planets per star system... that's an average of 1 Jedi per 16,000,000,000 (16 Billion) planets. And even if we go all the way down to *one* habitable planet per star system, that's still 1 Jedi per 320,000 systems. And yet... the Jedi Order enjoys basically complete immunity from government oversight while simultaneously being a major religious military asset of the Republic for millions of years who also has the undisputed right to check every baby born (at least within the core region) for Force-sensitivity, and take that baby away to become a Jedi if they are tested positive.
To put that into our perspective... that'd be a total of about 25,000 Jedi against Earth's 8 Billion population.
Now imagine if Earth was unified and ruled by a single government. But then there's this tiny population of monks with magic powers that for some reason, have acted basically like Catholic Knights Templar from centuries ago, that have been granted immunity from the law that governs the general population, while constantly exercising authority over them, and regularly taking away family's newborn babies because they were born with a special trait, and are taken and raised to become more of these knights, whose purpose is to "keep the peace" by opposing another religious order that is essentially just more of them, but with opposing philosophies.
(Holy crap as I write this, it's starting to sound more and more familiar...)
8:35 That is Darth Plagueis (a Muun), who at this point in time is the Sith Apprentice to Darth Tenebrous (a Bith).
    - The Muun are the race that makes up the Intergalactic Banking Clan.
    - The Bith are best known for being the race that the Mos Eisley Cantina band members are.
13:48 Qimir reversed his position in the lockup to put his blade behind Sol's, and is trying to make Sol's blade hit him Cortosis helmet to shut it off.
14:35 It's not broken. Sol's lightsaber just has an exposed kyber crystal.
19:25 Places where extremely significant things happen with the Force can be called "Wounds in the Force" and can become vergences, places where the force is concentrated far stronger than anywhere else. The cave on Dagobah is one such vergence in the force.
20:33 I think it's unlikely they used composite shots to film them together. Notice that in pretty much every scene Mae and Osha are both in, you never see both of their faces at the exact same time/same frame or shot. She likely has a body double, and it's always the main actress for when we see her face. And when we DO see both their faces at the same time, it's a static shot of them and the camera not really moving. So the shot at 20:34 is definitely a composite (filmed first with Qimir and one of the twins, then again with the actress in the other twin's position, then they were spliced together).
And so... by the end of the series, the Sith have managed to remain hidden:
    - All the Jedi who encountered Qimir (and heard him call himself a Sith) were killed.
    - Mae's memories post-fire were wiped.
    - Osha fell to the dark side and became Qimir's Sith Acolyte.
    - Vernestra is too concerned with politics to reveal the return of the Sith, and keeps it secret by framing Sol as a fallen/dark Jedi responsible for it all.
Also, since I was on the topic, here's a timeline of Darth Bane's Order of the Sith Lords:
1026 BBY: Dessel is born on Apatros.
1003 BBY: Dessel escape Apatros and joins the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness, and soon becomes christened Darth Bane on Korriban.
1000 BBY: Darth Bane loses faith in the Sith Brotherhood of Darkness and destroys it with help from a holocron containing Darth Revan's teachings.
Darth Bane creates his Order of the Sith Lords and implements the Rule of Two, taking on a young girl named Rain as his apprentice, Darth Zannah.
980 BBY: Darth Zannah kills Darth Bane and becomes the new Sith Master. Darth Bane's other apprentice, Darth Cognus, pledges herself to Darth Zannah.
In the following years, Darth Cognus would become the Sith Master and take on a three-eyed Sith Apprentice she dubbed Darth Millennial. However, he would be disavowed after going against the Order of the Sith Lords' teachings and be replaced by an unknown Sith Apprentice. The Order of the Sith Lords would continue as intended for centuries, but little is known of what happened between the times of Darth Cognus and Darth Tenebrous. This mostly-unknown period is called "The Quiet Times."
Sometime between 247 BBY and 167 BBY, a Bith named Rugess Nome would be born, later becoming the Sith Lord, Darth Tenebrous. As Rugess Nome, he would become a galaxy-famous engineer and starship designer. At some point before 124 BBY, Darth Tenebrous would murder his unnamed Twi'Lek Sith Master and become the new Sith Master.
Sometime between 147 BBY and 120 BBY, the Muun, Hego Damask II is born on Mygeeto and given by his mother to Darth Tenebrous, and is raised as the Sith Lord, Darth Plagueis.
67 BBY: Darth Plagueis murders his master, Darth Tenebrous on Bal'demnic while mining Cortosis ore and becomes the new Sith Master.
65 BBY: Darth Plagueis discovers Sheev Palpatine on Naboo and takes him as his Sith Apprentice, Darth Sidious.
54 BBY: Darth Sidious is given an infant Maul by his Dathomirian Nightsister mother, Kycina, to be trained as a Sith Assassin, with approval from Darth Plagueis.
47 BBY: The eventual Jedi Master A'Sharad Hett (the son of female human Tusken Raider, K'Sheek and male human Jedi Knight turned Tusken Raider Sharad Hett) is born on Tatooine.
Hett would serve as a General in the Clone Wars and become a close friend of Anakin Skywalker, and escape to his home, Tatooine after Order 66 and become a Tusken Raider.
    - Hett also knew about Anakin murdering a tribe of Tuskens, but understood it was Anakin's deed to deal with, and did not report it to the Jedi Council.
32 BBY: Darth Maul is seemingly killed in a duel by Obi-Wan Kenobi on Naboo.
Darth Sidious murders his master, Darth Plagueis on Coruscant while celebrating Palpatine's becoming Supreme Chancellor, and becomes the new Sith Master.
Jedi Master Dooku leaves the Jedi Order, reclaiming his title as Count of Serenno, and pledging himself to the Sith as Darth Tyranus.
Note: Sidious never planned for Maul or Dooku to be permanent Sith Apprentices since he had already discovered Anakin.
19 BBY: Dooku is killed by Anakin Skywalker, who soon falls to the dark side and becomes the Sith Apprentice, Darth Vader.
4 ABY: Darth Vader kills Darth Sidious to save his son, Luke Skywalker, and dies in the process. Darth Bane's Order of the Sith Lords is destroyed.
The rest of this is what happened in Legends:
11 ABY: The spirit of ancient Sith Lord, Exar Kun is revived on Yavin IV and corrupts Jedi Master Kyp Durron to the dark side, but is returned to the light by the New Jedi Order.
Rumors of a surviving Sith, an Emperor's Hand named Lumiya begin circulating.
14 ABY: A dark side Sith Cult called the Disciples of Ragnos attempts to resurrect the ancient Sith Lord, Marka Ragnos (who died over 5,100 years ago), but fail.
30 ABY: A'Sharad Hett, who has since become the Sith Lord, Darth Krayt begins rebuilding the Sith Order on Korriban.
40 ABY: Lumiya appears to the Galaxy again and seduces Jacen Solo (firstborn of Han and Leia Solo, and older twin brother of Jaina Solo) to the dark side as Darth Caedus.
Jaina Solo receives training from Boba Fett to kill Jedi to take down her twin brother, Jacen.
41 ABY: After a duel to the death with her, Darth Caedus sacrifices himself to save his twin sister, Jaina, after the death of Lumiya.
43 ABY: Luke Skywalker encounters a long lost Sith tribe. After briefly trying to kill each other, they ally to oppose the primordial Force God, Abeloth (the "Mother" of the Force Gods; oppsite the Father, above the Son and Daughter).
44 ABY: The Lost Sith Tribe ally with Abeloth, but are still defeated by Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order.
130 ABY: The One Sith/"New Sith Order" led by Darth Krayt emerges and nearly destroys the Jedi Order, causing many planets to leave the New Republic and join the New Empire.
137 ABY: Darth Krayt is murdered by his apprentice, Darth Wyyrlok, but is resurrected soon after.
138 ABY: Kade Skywalker kills Darth Krayt and the remaining Sith go into hiding.
139 ABY: Ania Solo kills the last of the Sith, leading to the final extinction of the Sith. The Great Peace begins.

8:28 DARTH PLAGUEIS THE WISE. HE was the master of Darth Sidius/Palpatine, and he was still alive in behind the scenes of Star Wars ep 1 and thats when he died in the novel. He was also mentioned by Sidius to anakin in ep 3 (revenge of the sith) where Sidius told anakin how he killed him in his sleep.
So this is the first on-screen appearance of him.

Acolyte all-flashback episode 7 was very good.
I liked the references to the hyperspace catastrophe that wiped out life on some planets; of which in the last episode Jedi master Vernestra has pain/nausea from traveling through hyperspace due to her strong connection to the force.
The fact that Sol was an emotional Jedi like Dooku, Anakin and Quigon Jinn was seen in quite a big way.
The turn of the plot, who is responsible for the death of the entire Clan of these Witches who follow the path of Bogan = Darkness in magic, they were quite similar to the Witches of the Sisterhood of the Night from Dathomir, where Darth Maul also comes from.
The fights were great, the choreography was great and seeing two Jedi fight against a possessed Wookie Jedi was great.
But most of all, normally, just like Mother Cora, I felt this emotional pain in my heart. When Sol killed her partner, co-mother of two children and the love of her life, mother Aniseya, in front of her eyes.
The destruction reminded me of something similar to when the Jedi destroyed the entire planet of Korriban, where the original Sith race came from.

Osha wants to train with Qimir. Qimir has no use for Mae anymore so wiping her memory was the only way

    • @mitchellhayward6492
      @mitchellhayward6492 หลายเดือนก่อน

At this point, I'm sure she still doesn't actually want to train with him. Osha's gotten angry, bled a lightsaber, and killed Sol - in the heat of the moment; but hasn't quite "embraced" the Dark Side yet, not by choice. Becoming enthralled by the Dark Side, and embracing the Sith teachings are likely to come later.
It's Qimir who wants to train Osha, not the other way around.
Leaving with Qimir to train with him is the price Osha's willing to pay in exchange for Qimir wiping Mae's memory instead of killing her for her earlier betrayal.

So I had my gripes about the show in terms of some of the acting being a little flat, or wooden. The direction felt choppy. There needs to be more smooth transitions within the structure of the story. Some of these things just hurt the flow. I've always tried to keep a balanced opinion toward the positive though. I loved the ideas the show presented. The choreography was fantastic. I loved the pulls from other media from Star Wars to be brought into live action. The moment where Osha "bleeds," the kyber crystal was so damn cool! Just to see the transition from blue to red was incredible, let alone the weight of what that moment meant! And this episode *finally* had acting that made sense to each situation. There were still some missteps, but it wasn't as jarring. And the deep emotional moments actually hit where they needed to. After it was all said and done, I'd give the show a 7/10. I'm happy with the show, and I hope the creators of the show start with a stronger foundation for how they want to tell their story. And I really hope they take their time developing it.

Best theory i got so far is: Both Plagueis and Qimir were trained by Tenebrous, which would make Qimir Darth Venamis. Tenebrous was involved with the Witches of Brendok and the conceiving of the twins, something that Plagueis took interest too(quest for eternal life and midichlorian influence). However, Qimir did not care and only wanted to practice the dark side himself and unbothered so he killed Tenebrous before the series.
This would explain why Qimir is so confident in training an acolyte to make them an apprentice to him, who would be the new sith master. He expects no punishment from almost revealing the sith to the jedi because their is no other sith to rival him. If Plagueis was Qimir's master i dont think Qimir would bring Osha and Mae there as it would be too obvious to Plagueis. In the end Plagueis seems to be spying on Qimir as he aims to not only eliminate his competition left after Tenebrous death, but he also aims to learn more about the midichlorian influence to eventually create a perfect darkside being (which he will fail in and cause the force to retaliate by conceiving the chosen one to bring universal balance(Anakin).

No sith master under the rule of two would have two or more full on apprentices at one time. Apprentices have another apprentices to overpower the true master (Vader + Luke). Masters might get rid off weak apprentices in order to get more powerful ones (Luke vs Vader).
I think that Qimir brought Osha and Mae to Plagueis in order to study them. I think he would see the fact that they are twins as a flaw.
Its also possible, that we are reading to much into this and that he same as Yoda is there only as an interesting cameo, that makes you want another season.

In fact: Darth Plagueis is the one who inadvertently created Anakin by using the Force to create life just like how the witches created Osha and Mae.
He and Palpatine tried to create the perfect stronger dark side being, but the Force in response decided to create a being who would bring balance.

In many ways, I am a critic of many fantasy/sci-fi, comic=superheroes,... cinema graphic projects, book games or music materials.
    Like some MCU series shouldn't copy their comic book adaptation #She-hulk & Ms Marvel was weaker but I liked it, I liked both Capitan Marvel movies my favorite feminist retrained by the racist Kree race;
DC movies and series speak for themselves, what quality are #??Justice League, Batman and Robin, Blue battle, Suicide squad 1??
The problem with Star Wars is that many directors/screenwriters/actors, for whom SW projects were made, will not be there in the end.
#Rouge Squadrons, series Rangers of the New Republic where Gina Carano was supposed to be; movie by Taika Waititi, Kevin Feige; trilogy by Rian Johnson,...
Projects like Book of Boba fett and Kenobi were originally supposed to be movies, there was even supposed to be a sequel to the Solo movie with Darth Maul.
But it is necessary to show people, especially from the Toxic SW community, where their place is.
The toxic community of Star Wars fans drove the same Jar Jar Binks almost to suicide, luckily he didn't, and then we could see him in Jedi Challenge and Mandalorian season 3.
Due to the fact that mentally he could no longer handle this toxicity.
The actor who played the young Anakin, Jake Lloyd, also had to drop out of school because they were poisonous to him and psychologically and emotionally destroyed his entire life that was just beginning.
And after the prequel trilogies, George Lucas couldn't do it alone any more and decided to be with his family instead. Fans constantly told him, wrote and threatened him that he himself literally does not know how to make Star Wars.
It was you! This community that hates Toxic Star Wars, who forced him to sell the rights to Disney.
    I talked.
And for anyone who doesn't like the 7,8,9 trilogy, I will reveal that there are three other worst movies that should never have been made, Holiday Special, Caravan of Courage: The Ewok Adventure, and Ewoks: Battle of Endor.
So I will tell you that the new trilogy turned out much better than it seems, but that's my opinion anyway, we know that everything will work out in time. And the films themselves are good.
Because Star Wars is our childhood, our adolescence, our love, our feelings, our life forever.

Top 5 of my favorite castle series 1. Acolyte 2. Ahsoka 3. Mandalorian 4. Andor 5. Book of Boba fett
The whole Acolite show is better than Kenobi and Book of Boba fett combined. They made mistakes and turned these two projects into a show and not a movie.
Each of the movies are good in their own right, even 8 the last jedi, but that one stupid man was wrong.
But these movies are still better than the ones below.\/
Okay, so the best trilogy of Star Wars movies from George Lucas' original era.
    And that: Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure; Ewoks: The Battle for Endor & Star Wars Holiday Special;
    Ewoks: Battle for Endor
So what are you telling me now?
    This is total crap.
George Lucas himself wanted the Holiday Special off the face of the earth.

@@JaseAmoxin Pretty sure his whole reason for going to Brendok w/ Osha was because of Osha telling him she saw Mae killing Sol without a weapon. Meaning she would've passed his test.
Osha was going with the intent to stop her. Qimir was going with the intent to re-take her as his Acolyte if she was successful in killing Sol without a weapon.
You could say he doesn't want Mae as an Acolyte anymore because she failed but, if he wanted to kill her why is he helping the two of them escape?! Just kill her right there if you're going to do it...
Right before this whole mind-wipe thing when Osha and Mae are crying under the tree Qimir reminds them that they all have to keep moving or else the Jedi will catch up. It's then when Osha suggests to let Mae go...
Why? It's completely unclear... I thought part of this story was that the girls SHOULD be together. Now they finally have a chance to be together and willingly choose the opposite... WHY?!

Why Emme, have you never heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? That’s who the person in the cave was watching Qimir and Osha. The question though, is he Qimir’s master? Is Qimir a Sith? We kept hearing the Kylo Ren music throughout the series, so I still think there’s a chance that maybe Darth Plagueis was there spying on them, hoping Qimir would lead him to the vergance in the force, where he will learn to create life. I think Qimir might end up being the founder of the Knights of Ren, and then Osha will be his first apprentice. I’m really, really hoping we get a Season 2 so we can get these questions answered!

@@monygemini88 yeah, I struggled with this too. My only guess is that he didn't want her killed, but did want the chase ended. Causing Sol's ship to go out of control sent Mae's ship out of control, forcing her to land. That's all I can figure. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It was definitely not expected.

Im excited to see your opinion in this finale because you 're getting into star wars "not the usual way" (whats actually interesting how its all working out for you)
and without saying anything about if the acolyte is good or bad or something else, I just would like to know if there will be a second season 😃 there are really great things to say about the acolyte but I feel like they should keep those long burn and dialouges like Andor did it. whats your opinion about that? they did such a great Job with the picture and the Music why not on the dialouges. And then this Thing with plagueis.. honestly after that everything else was getting out of my interest. maybe they wanted that for next season 😂😅 so all of you crazy people out there, have a great day and may the force be with you 😉

I got so tired early on of characters doing things that didn't follow their interior logic or motivations just to keep the plot going... and that just repeated again and again and never got better.
Why did they establish Sol had Jedi truth serum skillz but then have him forget he had that ability the very next ep when he met the Big Bad and tried getting him to talk with a failed Charisma roll? Because the writing team didn't have a better reason for the show to keep happening.
Why did Sol go to all the trouble of restraining and monologuing to Mae instead of doubling back to find Osha on the planet he may have just abandoned her on with a murderous Sith, when he specifically said he needed both of them together (for reasons?) to prove anything to the Jedi Council? Because the writing team didn't have a better reason to split them up and have the show keep happening.
Why did Basil violently attack Mae and try to bite her ankle in one scene, then sabotage the ship he was on to save her in their next interaction? Because the writing team didn't have a better reason for the show to keep happening.
Why did Mae and Osha decide to split up and wipe Osha out of Mae's memory so the Jedi wouldn't be able to use her to find Osha after she stayed to wait for them when Mae could have just... gone with Osha and instead be unable to be found? Because the writing team didn't have a better reason for the show to keep happening.
    ... Tiring.

Getting rid of their dark side using mother is like taking kids from meth addicted parents. It is good.
This show did everything in its power to make the Jedi look bad, incompeted and institutionary evil, eventhough at this point at the high point of the republic after long era of peace they should have been healers, diplomats and spiritual people in general. Imagine budhist monks. Are they evil because they take in young apprentices or because they are strict in some respects?
And on the other hand they romaticized the dark side omiting, what it actually means to use it, intentionally creating ambivalence where none should be.

A screenwriter and more notably a director here. Just wanted to reply on the comment about the tediousness of filming both the shot and the reverse shot with only one actor playing both characters in a scene.
Basically, and mostly, I would say it's not /that/ big of a deal. Mostly. Sure, the one actor playing both parts, and their body double playing the backs of the heads of the opposing characters will both have to do the scene twice in different costumes and mindsets, but apart from that delay in wardrobe and makeup change, I would say that most often this is nothing unbearable for the crew, since the time that the changes will take can and/or will be used for setting up lighting and cameras anyway. Also, during that time, the director can talk with the actors and help them get into the mindset of the new characters, and overall it's ultimately not a huge deal if the main actor is willing to jump into both of the roles. It's a little more work, sure, but not too much in any critical sense.
What I mean by all this is that important scenes are usually shot several times anyway, of course depending on the director and whether or not they have something /particular/ in mind, so the only real change out of normal will be the time that it takes for the costume and the makeup department to get the two actors ready for their roles. But since this is only done twice, it's not too much of an issue.
Of course, I'm only one person, and I cannot speak for everyone's experience, but I would say that there is always enough things to do and improve on set during the time when the actors are preparing for a scene, whether or not they are doing the same one twice. In the end the heavy lifting is done in casting and the discussions preceding the shoot. If the main actor is ready for both parts, as is very clear in the case of this series and Amandla Stenberg's great performances, the production is on solid ground, relatively speaking.
Also, I loved your depiction of Yoda having an avocado shaped head. That image is not leaving me anytime soon.

I liked this series... although i'm really easy to p[lease as far as star wars content goes..... i'll watch anything as long as it doesn't go no where near Tatooine..... I almost stopped watching ANDOR when the stuffed Bantha toy was shown.... I hate Tatooine it makes the star wars universe seem very very small, and the people in charge very very stupid. The empire and the new republic should have a massive military garrison on Tatooine.. the planet produced both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.... how many galaxy reshaping all powerful beings does this planet have to produce before you should think about keeping a close eye on it. If the series gets a second season, i have no doubt they will go to tatooine... crackhead has to have crack eventually, and so does Star wars have to go to tatooine..... ugh we seem to be made to suffer, its our lot in life.
