      What really hit me is that these reacts are all 20 and 30 somethings... K Kennedy's target audience. The people she tried to kill Star Wars in, and replace it with her new Star Wars. She failed miserably. No one will ever cry for Rey this way. And that is damn sad! She could have had a passing of the torch. Instead she tried to extinguish the old torch and light a new one. If they dont fire her after this, Disney is truly lost.

      @Romanogers4ever Other than Mandalorian, Star Wars isnt much hope. As to Marvel, they will face a big drop in interest in Phase 4. The big story is over, and they have killed off the A List Characters, other than Spider-Man. They will now, produce C List characters, thinking people will love them, and the old guard will be supplanted. Rather like they did with Star Wars, now that I say it out loud.
      Until they remember how to write adventures, how to write heroes, and continue to push an abnormal agenda at people, their profits will continue to crumble.

  • @1971tallica
    @1971tallica 3 ปีที่แล้ว +640

    You look at this from Luke's perspective , he got a call for help through the force from a child who was petrified and felt alone , then as you see him flying into the ship you see Grogu calling out to him and now in mortal fear , I think Luke was rather calm and elegant , just one fluid motion with one objective, reach and protect that child. This is what a Jedi is and this scene embodied that perfectly !! Finally Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker as we should see him.

    • @Fi_Sci_
      @Fi_Sci_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This was at a different point in his life. A point at which he was still scratching the surface with his academy.
      Whereas 25 years after the Mandalorian he would be more depressed, cynical and bitter because of what his one split-second action of Failure cost him. But once he redeemed himself we saw just how wise and selfless he really was. Even telling us first hand that exiling himself wasn’t the right decision and that Rey shouldn’t follow what he had done.
      I understand other fans hate towards Rians direction, but in my opinion I felt that Johnson captured an older Luke Skywalker perfectly, taking what was so great about him in the originals and improving it, making him more relatable as a person and not just a perfect grandmaster of a Jedi order who had everything figured out.
      I had no problem with how badass Luke was here, considering he was in his prime and had a commitment to saving the child.

    • @elpopman2055
      @elpopman2055 3 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      @@Fi_Sci_ I'm sorry but there's no way Rian Johnson understand thinking about Star Wars because the only cares about the body the audience that's what you meant.. there's no way he would have nearly killed his own nephew out of instinct.. and even if he did made a mistake he would not stay with the island for so long wanting to die knowing his friends and family needs him that's what a hero is. Even if a hero makes mistakes and falls down they get back up.. honestly look at Marvel MCU Thor.. at least his hero's journey was handled better than Luke Skywalker because even at his lowest still made an effort to make a Difference even if he was reluctant.

      Yes, those details were perfectly revealed, and yet I held my breath, hoping that it was him. So many disappointments have come before...I and so many others wanted Luke, but not just any Luke, Mark Hamill Luke...Master Luke. Those mannerisms, the sounds of his light saber as he lay waste to the Dark Troopers, and finally, the sound of him switching off his fabled green light saber. But just before he lifted his cloak to reveal his face, I said, please don't eff this up...no, I said, this is Jon and Dave's hero as well. And then pure Joy!

    It felt like the entire purpose of the Mandalorian was to systematically restore the integrity of the Star Wars Saga. Favreau and Filoni were trying to save the franchise...but they had to start it off innocently enough, as "just a random post Jedi show about a Mandalorian"
    A well executed show that displayed quality as still being possible for the Star Wars Saga. They were in. More freedom allowed for Season 2, where they played their hand masterfully.
    What, Boba Fett confirmed alive? Bringing back a Clone Wars Mandalorian in live action? Bringing back AHSOKA in live action? Having Boba Fett suit up and make an epic return? Having LUKE FRIGGIN SKYWALKER make an epic return?
    Every chapter of the 2nd season further restored a piece of the legacy of the Star Wars mythos.

      @bhecker715 I would have to analyze Book of Boba and Mando S3 in detail to truly determine the pros and cons of both and how they measure against one another.
      Book of Boba Fett to me was overall decent-to-good with some AWFUL elements and moments weighing it down. But it was fewer eps, wasted less time, and had a wholesome appearance from Luke.
      Mando S3 was overall quite bad, with just a few moments and elements serving as highlights. I didn't prefer all of the added emphasis that Bo Katan received. It felt like the focus of the season went off on too many tangents as well.

      You felt the echoes of those people through the force, now you'll become a jedi in the future lol. No seriously, it's nice to see that even not diehard fans understand what fans feel with this, empathy is truly a skill of recieving those emotions and feeling them as if they were your own, if people really developed this skill and were conscious about it well I would say that we would be unlocking more of this human potential we all have, maybe we are truly capable of becoming like a "jedi", we just need to pay attention to this, as you are doing now.

      Hey! Prequels weren't bad! They weren't perfect, of course, but are far from being bad. And they're still million times better than sequels... They are in many aspects absolutely masterpieces - like the Anakin vs Obi Wan duel, the whole Palpatine's scheming, Mace Windu, Yoda, Christopher Lee, Opening battle in Revenge of the Sith, Qui Gon Jin, Darth Maul, even pod racers had its charm. Also, there's no other movie(s) so abused in memes, it means something.
      I'll say you this - I had hopes after Force Awakens - it wasn't that bad - let's say it was a somewhat good opening to new trilogy, but after TLJ i just droped it. TLJ left me so dissapointed i didn't even watched The Rise of Skywalkers or whatever the name is. The only new character i could somehow make a faint connection to was Flynn and that's it. I couldn't connect with Rey at all, Kylo... well... in TFA it wasn't a bad villian but later... uhh... TLJ Luke was a joke. Poe was promising, but dissapointing in the end and so on... Someone in this comment section said that Carrie Fisher approved creative decisions made by Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams and my question is... Why? How? If that's true, I can't respect her decisions in this regard.

    And it is Mark Hamill. Favreau confirmed Mark was on set for the last scene (the action scenes were by Max Lloyd). You can tell the mannerisms and quirks. Regardless, we can all forget "Palpatine Wins Trilogy". Favs, Filoni, and co. are ignoring the sequels (i.e. no projects involving that, Kennedy reduced to a seat warmer by Iger and upper management, none of Rian's supposed next trilogy is even in preproduction while the post-RoTJ projects are all in the pike).

    I find everyone’s reaction interesting since most (if not all) were born after 1977 and the introduction of Star Wars. I was 15 and saw it at the Edens theater in Northbrook Illinois. I was with my high school friends and saw the New Hope in glorious 88 mm film on a huge screen. The reintroduction of Luke Skywalker is important and tugs at the heart strings of my generation. The initial trilogy was magical and provided symbolic heroism that seems absent from many of today’s films or characterizations. Regretfully, the mass production of subsequent movies (and middle finger given to the original fan base) had turned many of us to the “dark side” of indifference. Jon Favreau and The Mandalorian may have just saved this franchise and rekindled the magic for an old and newer generation. Disney should get down and kiss Jon’s feet. (Being polite). This show is simply awesome. DFIU

    • @rockerdowns6051
      @rockerdowns6051 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yea, one more thing, if by chance Jon Favreau ever reads this, one small (or major) request please. If you could write in a brief cameo appearance by Jar Jar Binks where is crushed by an Empire AT-AT or disintegrated into pile of babbling ruble would be greatly appreciated. There is a whole fan base that can’t wait for Jar Jars proper burial. It would be comedy gold. I’m just saying.

      @@rockerdowns6051 I think Dave Feloni would see that as disrespectful to George Lucas. George loved Jar Jar. I do, however, see your point. Given the effects playing Jar Jar created for Ahmed Best, I think it would be awesome if Ahmed could join the cast of one of the new shows as a new, cool character. He might even play a Sith character who somehow vanquishes Jar Jar or a Jedi who saves him. I would just like to see some good come to him via Star Wars after all the hate he suffered.
