One might say helping 16 fulfill Gero’s programming doesn’t help him become his own person separate from Gero’s control. But because that programming is a single one-time directive, maybe their plan is to help him kill Goku, because then he’ll be free of Gero’s shackles, and can more easily become his own person.
The "tagging" description brought to mind Cloud's interjections of Dyne's monologue in Final Fantasy VII Machinabridged, which then made me think about how cool it would be to get a creator's commentary series for that show as well.
It just occurred to me, the gang could’ve tried to tell 16, 17, and 18 that Goku died of the heart attack. None of them know why Goku isn’t there with everyone else. They have no reason to not believe that. Possibly ending the programmed desire to kill Goku right then and there.
In my head the Nail Gun is Piccolo using Special Beam Canon with TWO HANDS! But where he is holding his hands together, index and middle fingers out, like a jutsu.
37:29 I actually love this line. Because it sums up Vegeta perfectly at this point in the show. He's an arrogant asshole with 0 filter. He knows it's offensive, and that's why he uses it. He figures he can get away with it. Then he gets the ever loving hell beat out of him, the commupence feels that much more cathartic.
10:10 Tien "we've been fighting two".. No. You've done nothing this entire time, yet, you think you're better than Yamcha and Krillen. Know your worth 😂
You could say, Trunks f*cked that whole thing up massively... And I don't mean the time travel thing, but Kuririn literally, asked 'So are they on our side?' and at that point... They kind of are... At least, those two didn't kill anybody besides the mad scientist, that blew up half of a city an hour ago... And those two seem to be able to mess up with their programming, so far, so maybe they could actually join them or at least wouldn't try to kill Goku. [EDIT] Don't wanna say, Trunks was wrong because of that. All he ever knew was those two terrorizing the earth, so it's more than understandable, that he kinda snapped at that point.
You know funnily enough trunks is assuming that him going back triggered a butterfly effect but it'd also make sense if trunks who was a infant and bulma who wasn't at south city when it was attacked because it was a suprise in their timeline meaning probably the only people to see the androids in trunks timeline (19 and gero) simply just said androids attacked the city then gero activates 17 and 18 who kill him and start their destruction with the public assuming the things attacking city after city were also the androids that attacked south city so the z fighters go to try and stop them dying from the attempt so the time machine is made and trunks warns the z fighters about the cyborgs that he assumed also attacked south city like everyone else (it could also come to the events of gero tests out his software on south city wiping it off the face of the earth and thus goes to activate 17 and 18 who he thinks have been fixed of any "bugs" to kill goku and then gets killed and the twin cyborgs continue the slaughter now being blamed for south city) Now this isn't me saying the plot fully makes sense it still has its problems but this makes more sense than trunks saying information causing something not correlated at all to happen like dr gero deciding to attack south city instead of having 17 and 18 do it
Kinda hoping when taka reaches Cell, instead of defaulting to the tfs bento footage, he pulls lani and kaiser into the Vtuber space, and of course have their avatars doing the bridge pose as well
Before I learned about the multiple timelines I had my own theory about the time travel and it went like this. Trunks never knew about Android 19&20 was because those events had still happened but how it played out was that they attacked the city where Kami or someone would tell the Z fighters and they would show up and split up. Yamcha being the unlucky one is attacked and actually killed before the others can get to him. After the Fighters realize that his power level has dropped they would fly and see the androids then move onto the plains where Goku would turn Super Saiyan then suffer from his heart attack where they would move him and he would later on die from the disease. But the fight would go on with vegeta coming in and showing off his new form and following up by killing 19. Android 20 would escape and the Fighters would chase him down until he got near his secret lab and was able to turn on Android 17&18 and was swiftly killed by 17. They would never awaken 16 because they were more heartless in this timeline. After leaving the cave the Fighters would come upon them where they would fight and end up losing and dying from being killed by the two and the only survivors being Gohan, Chi Chi, Bulma, and Trunks being the only survivors. Kinda explains why Trunks would know only 17&18 and not 16,19, and 20.
It's a good one. Watching History Trunks Goku dies a few months before the Androids show and it kinda just goes the battle with the Sayians went, they all show up and are picked off one by one.
My headcanon was that 19 and 20 did show up in Trunks' timeline but nobody bothered to tell Trunks because they defeated them easily (like they did here)
Yeah, he can sense it in a small area in front of his palms. Not at range, hence why he has to make almost physical contact with Ki sources to absorb them. He can't absorb/sense at a distance.
@@haydentravis3348 I think, what they meant, is the good guys should have been able to sense Gero because he absorbed Ki, unless he converts it to something else at the moment of absorption.
@@silversonic1 Ah, okay, I was confused. But yeah, could convert it or just contain it. Like, they can't sense the Ki because its in a lead battery or something. It can be hidden, cuz of Krillin's stealth mode.
@@haydentravis3348 Maybe. But I kind of doubt it's a material shield situation. Goku can sense people on the other side of the planet who are just sitting around on their island. An entire planet can't keep him from sensing you specifically. So I think some kind of conversation process is necessary. Also I find it odd that 17 and 18 can contribute to Spirit Bombs when they allegedly aren't using life energy.
There's something sweet about Vegeta thinking of Capsule Corp as his home now. Somewhat undercut by having a Super Saiyan self-service session be the first thing he does before saying hi to his ... sugar mommy(?) after a year+.
To add a more serious response to why they couldn't break down the door... Have you ever tried punching a door full-force? There's a natural tendency to involuntarily hold back because your brain is telling you "Solid object! Will hurt if you punch!" I bet they were creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. They have the strength to atomize the door with a punch, but hold back instinctively, therefor, punch the door lightly and "Ouch!" Then the following punch is lesser because their hand is already hurting or the next person saw it hurt them and in turn holds back...
Stupid thing about Gero having to program a new hand is, *why didn't he save the settings so he could transfer them to a new hand*? Copying over settings from one device to another is something pretty common in tech. But then again, with how much of a fuckup Gero is I could see him just not thinking to do that lol.
8:05 I always found it really wholesome how excited Dr. Gero was to talk about his work. One question and he just completely drops all hostility (and attention), happy to explain the science behind his android body. Kinda makes you think, maybe in an alternate universe where he had gotten some proper recognition for his genius outside of a defunct mercenary outfit, maybe he would have been alright.
wait what?? i thought 16 was played by taka. in my "headcannon" now, i guess, every big character played by him would have the "i am _______ and you will quote everything I say" line in the Kai episodes. there goes my world
I mean Bulma did suggest having the dragon tell everyone where Gero was as he was building the androids both in official and abridged version. So her finding out where his lab is only becomes relevant because Gero ran away. So technically not her fault.

To copy a thought of mine from the other creator commentary. On the "All Scientists know where other scientists labs are" I feel like it would track that in the circle of villainous paranoid mad scientists it would make sense that they would keep tabs on one another. I remember an episode of Young Justice where, in fact, they found one mad roboticist they were looking for by asking another mad roboticist they already caught and imprisoned about his whereabouts.

@@shawnsuckstm3353Yeah, but this time, he has to charge it... FOR TEN MINUTES.
@@toxicdemon1315And considering how hard his ass was being kicked...
I think he could handle it.
Ok, gonana draw that
Ooooh, because it looks like a gun when you put your hands together like that.

I actually love this line.
Bulma. Smartest Person. Made Dragon Radar. Was so fucking dumb that she took her child to an active battle field.
Intelligence vs wisdom
Did you forget who she Hangs out with? Stupid became the norm 😅
Or she was tired of parenting and wanted plausible deniability for Trunks' death.
Ooh, I saw an animation error I’m not sure Kaiser has ever talked about. At 44:32, the crossguard on Trunks’s sword is orange instead of silver.
Ha! Never noticed that.
Damn, kaiser's scream when he shoots the androids. THE CHILLS
the crunch of the bones when his arm dangled, YEESH
I'm here to kick ass and eat senzu beans. Unfortunately, I'm all out of ass

I find it funny that we don't see Trunks's reaction here
10:10 Tien "we've been fighting two".. No. You've done nothing this entire time, yet, you think you're better than Yamcha and Krillen. Know your worth 😂
The Gero performance is so good I have to force myself to be reminded that there is an actor behind the voice.
[EDIT]
Don't wanna say, Trunks was wrong because of that. All he ever knew was those two terrorizing the earth, so it's more than understandable, that he kinda snapped at that point.
Yeah it's definitely a jumping to conclusions reaction. Dude literally got triggered fr so it's understandable
I love Yajirobe's line there. "...I've got a rock up my butt. >:("
I love how you could end basically every one of Abridged Yajirobe's lines with >:( and it would fit perfectly.
You know funnily enough trunks is assuming that him going back triggered a butterfly effect but it'd also make sense if trunks who was a infant and bulma who wasn't at south city when it was attacked because it was a suprise in their timeline meaning probably the only people to see the androids in trunks timeline (19 and gero) simply just said androids attacked the city then gero activates 17 and 18 who kill him and start their destruction with the public assuming the things attacking city after city were also the androids that attacked south city so the z fighters go to try and stop them dying from the attempt so the time machine is made and trunks warns the z fighters about the cyborgs that he assumed also attacked south city like everyone else (it could also come to the events of gero tests out his software on south city wiping it off the face of the earth and thus goes to activate 17 and 18 who he thinks have been fixed of any "bugs" to kill goku and then gets killed and the twin cyborgs continue the slaughter now being blamed for south city)
Now this isn't me saying the plot fully makes sense it still has its problems but this makes more sense than trunks saying information causing something not correlated at all to happen like dr gero deciding to attack south city instead of having 17 and 18 do it
Kinda hoping when taka reaches Cell, instead of defaulting to the tfs bento footage, he pulls lani and kaiser into the Vtuber space, and of course have their avatars doing the bridge pose as well
That'd be dope lol
I dont think theyll rerecord all that lol
Vtube model are expensive as fuck to make and take awhile animate. Wouldnt make any sense for them too.
I don't think he'll be doing commentary on the cell saga on his twitch since he's already doing commentary for it with Lani and Kaiser in Texas
@@2amCryptidtheyre stationed in texas?
Watching History Trunks Goku dies a few months before the Androids show and it kinda just goes the battle with the Sayians went, they all show up and are picked off one by one.
the fact that 16 politely asks that they go and kill goku should immediately tell you he’s a good guy 😂😂
17 and 18's first lines pretty much perfectly established their characters.
My headcanon was that 19 and 20 did show up in Trunks' timeline but nobody bothered to tell Trunks because they defeated them easily (like they did here)
You know, unless Dr. Gero is somehow converting the ki he absorbs as he absorbs it, it's still life energy and able to be sensed.
@@Eguzky Yeah. That.
I use one of Gero's lines over and over:
"First, WHAT?! Second, THE [bleep]?!"
My headcanon is that the door is made of Katchin, which is apparently the hardest metal in the universe
In the manga, Trunks specifically mentions 19 and 20. I think that's 'cause he never knew 18 and 17 weren't 19 and 20. Who'd tell him?
There's something sweet about Vegeta thinking of Capsule Corp as his home now.
Somewhat undercut by having a Super Saiyan self-service session be the first thing he does before saying hi to his ... sugar mommy(?) after a year+.
To add a more serious response to why they couldn't break down the door... Have you ever tried punching a door full-force? There's a natural tendency to involuntarily hold back because your brain is telling you "Solid object! Will hurt if you punch!"
I bet they were creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. They have the strength to atomize the door with a punch, but hold back instinctively, therefor, punch the door lightly and "Ouch!" Then the following punch is lesser because their hand is already hurting or the next person saw it hurt them and in turn holds back...
“DID SHE BRING ME??!!”
seriously present bulma what the shit??!!
"What's this, your secret project?"
"No, he's in the basemen- I MEAN YES!!! VERY SECRET, DON'T TOUCH!!"
S tier foreshadowing
I can see it now. Pan gets interested in girly stuff and starts painting Mr.Picolo's nails. Then he could call it the Shining Destroyer Nail Gun
"There wasn't even twitter when we started"
It's amazing that TFS both pre-dated and post-dated twitter.
4:10 wait how does Gero know Piccolo is namekian when all he knows about Namek is that it's where Goku (and maybe Vegeta) got super strong?
Probably following up to the Saiyan battle which is where they kinda stopped. I know the Saiyans mention it. Least in DBZA
@@AL7249oh yeah, I forgot Nappa mentioned he was a Namekian and he doesn't have a penis
He doesn't know what a Namek is, just everyone was talking about it. He learns what a Namekian is later.
Dr Gero got Android 19 to put his brain in the android body.
One of my favorite lines in the entire series is Vegeta yelling "Olly Olly Oxen B***h!"
wait what?? i thought 16 was played by taka. in my "headcannon" now, i guess, every big character played by him would have the "i am _______ and you will quote everything I say" line in the Kai episodes. there goes my world
Seriously, for a genius this was pretty dumb of Bulma.
Well I mean she is _(arguably)_ a genderbent Elon Musk.....
@@TeryJones Let's not get crazy.
@@shadowldrago *CELL;* TOO LATE!
I mean Bulma did suggest having the dragon tell everyone where Gero was as he was building the androids both in official and abridged version.
So her finding out where his lab is only becomes relevant because Gero ran away.
So technically not her fault.
Give her a break, she is just adequate as a mother.
The funny thing about #16, I thought that he was voiced by Taka, he sounds a lot like guru is why.
46:37 the sounds Vegeta makes when getting beat up by 18 reminds me of the sounds Nappa made when he got beat up by Goku
I know that everywhere else in the world (minus current British commonwealth) it’s a highly offensive word, but to my Aussie sensibilities (which is to say none😂😂) I thought this was hilarious. And that word has such a range of affection as well😂

HEYOOOO-
Chris Guerrero is some sort of legendary Super-VA
Chris Guerrero also plays Ainz in thr Overlord dub snd in the Fairy Tail dub he's Ichiya.
Give me a warning, Taka! You hurt my ears with that shout at the end of the first episode.
Ok! Ok! last comment, basically every time you said anything, I was like, "OMFG yes that's one of the parts that my son and I will remember forever, he grew up with this show and I was the super fan already" literal family memories bro. Respect.
Also yes, I thought all that stuff.
If tfs trunks was more like tfs vegeta... Very sure Trunks would've snapped, lmao
"Sorry I got hit in the heart a lot"
Taka, you still got it!
I don't care what anybody says I love the can opener line from piccolo
To copy a thought of mine from the other creator commentary.
On the "All Scientists know where other scientists labs are"
I feel like it would track that in the circle of villainous paranoid mad scientists it would make sense that they would keep tabs on one another.
I remember an episode of Young Justice where, in fact, they found one mad roboticist they were looking for by asking another mad roboticist they already caught and imprisoned about his whereabouts.
😭😭😭”I will kill as many people as I have to as long as you are one of them” love that line and still use it to this day for any antihero I really see
I never caught the line "thought I was about to be a wish there"
