On my 2008 GMC Yukon exact same problem. I just had wife test the brake pedal while I observed the brake light. Brake pedal came one for second and went out. Thanks for your channel.
Just had the same issue with my 2010 Sierra, traction control and stabilitrack, wouldn’t go into gear. Was able to fix it no prob after seeing your video, thanks 👍
Awesome job very nice diagnosis. I was having the Same problem and when I saw this video I immediately went and switch mine out. Again thank you so much.
Eric Corse same here!! Yes with hopes you will now be seeing videos again more regularly. The industrial project I was involved in is finally settling in
My 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 would show SERVICE STABILITRAK , TRACTION CONTROL, and the ABS light in the mornings when its cold (Michigan). Also the cruise control never worked. I replaced this and the cruise control worked instantly. We will see in the morning if the other lights come back on. Thank you!
My 2011 GMC Sierra does the same. Only in the cold weather though, stuck in park and no brake lights. Going to work in the cold mornings the ABS lights come on. In the afternoon coming home no issues. Going to change the brake light switch , looks to be the problem.
This dude is a professional he’s not a change out of park and try and charge you I’d rather bring it to him pay him 300 bucks for fixing it and then replacing 100 parts And my car in the shop for a week Even if it was the same price at least you can get your car back the same day And you know He’s a mechanic not a pot changer
have to love it, junktronics failing so often, all the 70's, 80's and early 90's vehicles I had went to scrap yard with original brake light switches, rusted out or wrecked into mostly. everything has something in common now, China or Mexico......
Weird switch setup... how's it changing the signal? Hall effect of some kind? It's moving with the pedal... but pivoting in relation to the booster rod causing the signal change?
the brake booster arm hole is oblong/stretched circle and the pedal itself has a return spring, so hitting the brakes pushes the pedal shaft and switch body forward some letting the rod end push into the switch and button, before it starts pushing the rod.
Thank you for the feedback. I tried to mix in a little of everything to show the options.. its hard during real time troubleshoting to go slower I do apologis. But really the only thing we used that wasn't old school was the Autel but on these cars a code is critical/key information. however we retrieve it... Doesn't need to be a 3k scanner we can do the same with much less. Testing the switch we went pretty old school :) oscilloscopes are very handy and have been around before me. We could do this with a test light as well.. many options.. thanks again
People should check there brake lights are working every so often (not really just that, look at your wing mirror and see if they light up it's not that hard, you can get 3 points in the uk for no brake lights as there is no excuse for not knowing they are not working, I assume USA have some sort of fine for it) but I say that and people are driving with DLRs only (dash is lit up on new cars when lights are off so they think lights are on, I wish car manufacturers would follow GM and make lights set to automatic as the default position)
I having a issue if you get this. I have a 2010 Chevy Tahoe. The traction control and stabilization come on. Now the steering wheel functions are not working. Turn signals, bright lights, cruise control, radio. On the rear the all 3 brake lights stay on. Have not had a problem with shifting from park to drive. I did change the brake switch didn’t work. Changed the bcm and still doing the stay thing. Yesterday come across your video. Used a voltage meter. On orange/white 0.97 volts. Purple 0.97 but when you press the brake down the voltage go to 0.00. Do you have a idea what might be going on. Thank you
What would you do if you replaced your switch about 6 months ago and my symptoms are the exact same as this video minus the brake graph you showed. Idk what my graph looks like.
Those scope probes look like the old Tektronix probes. I like that scope, seems so "uncluttered" compared to the Pico which we use at Toyota. What is the name and where did you get it?
Wish I had a local dealer. I was hoping to see a Wells manufactoring marking on this aftermarket to give me a little good feeling at least lol but I'm not sure on this one..
Thanks for the video! Have you thought about the "Automotive" firmware 'upgrade for your Micsig? I believe it's ~199.00. The problem for me is that once you update the firmware apparently you can't go back to a general scope. What model Autel is that ?

@@justinweatherspoon5786 my '11 Sierra has been doing the ABS/Stabilitrak off and on now. Hooked up my code Reader and got this same code.

Always a treat to see you back sharing your skills.

everything has something in common now, China or Mexico......
thank you, you are the best. fix that issue. Thanks.
Weird switch setup... how's it changing the signal? Hall effect of some kind? It's moving with the pedal... but pivoting in relation to the booster rod causing the signal change?
the brake booster arm hole is oblong/stretched circle and the pedal itself has a return spring, so hitting the brakes pushes the pedal shaft and switch body forward some letting the rod end push into the switch and button, before it starts pushing the rod.
also, I haven't torn apart a brake switch in ages, but I'm sure it's either just spring contacts or slide contacts inside.
So then why does my avalanche still stuck in park after I replaced that switch?
(***** 5S) I like when you do all this old school, with electrical diagrams, with no computer, thanks for this video.
Thank you for the feedback. I tried to mix in a little of everything to show the options.. its hard during real time troubleshoting to go slower I do apologis. What model Autel are you using? How do you like it? Does it have bi directional control?

Always a pleasure to watch your videos you are very thorough I need your thoughts on why schematics don’t say ground control switched

Manny Velez thank you!!
Great video
Hi do you not have the scope for the autel? If you do why are you not using it? Thanks!!
Those scope probes look like the old Tektronix probes. I like that scope, seems so "uncluttered" compared to the Pico which we use at Toyota. What is the name and where did you get it?
will ive changed a few of them and the aftermarket ones all came back the gm one seems to be the only one that worked
Wish I had a local dealer. I was hoping to see a Wells manufactoring marking on this aftermarket to give me a little good feeling at least lol but I'm not sure on this one..
maybe you ok the ones I used were bwd or carquest oh and the worse thing is when the customer is over your shoulder I hate that!@@robinsonsauto

Thanks for the video! Have you thought about the "Automotive" firmware 'upgrade for your Micsig? I believe it's ~199.00. The problem for me is that once you update the firmware apparently you can't go back to a general scope.

have to wonder what would've happened had he taken the truck to a transmission shop
jasonmushersee would like to think they would do the same ;) but I see crazy things sometimes
lol! probably rebuild the transmission, not fix the issue, charge a little fee of $3500+ and recommend some mechanic shop who also couldn't fix it lol
Good Job Will Thank You
