Haha 😂 Sorry about that. I always leave the film on stuff for a little while in case I need to return it. This was just the unboxing, but when I do my review I’ll try and remember to remove it just for you. 🙂
It definitely struggles with DS. I haven't noticed any struggle with Dreamcast, but I've also only tried Dolphin Blue and Crazy Taxi 2. They both worked really well. I wish the sticks were better. They're really bad.
@@BoKnowsGaming Yah load up a game like Jet Grind Radio and im sure it will be very bad. The way I see if is if a emulator and handheld can handle a game like Jet Grind Radio smoothly then it should handle the rest of the Dreamcast titles well.
Just a heads up make sure yall have bater saver mode off since it will make performance a bit delayed so if u want good performance make sure to have that off 🤙🏻
Thank you for this awesome video! I was wondering which one would you pick if you had to choose one. Would you pick the rgb30 or this one? Thanks again.
I'm honestly still asking myself this question. Haha. I like the controls on the RGB30 better. That I'm confident in saying. Hopefully I'll finish up my review in about a week and I can more clearly address that question.
Oof 😓 … that’s such a complicated question. I’m not even kidding. I hate not giving an answer, but I might have to make a side-by-side comparison video to show you what I mean, because I’m getting questions like yours a lot in the comments.
Hi! What software version was running when you tested? I've seen other reviews where God of War was not running too well on this (especially when playing for longer) but for you it seems to be running fine. Have you came across other PSP games not running smoothly? EDIT: Around 8:50 you show the system menu and it seems to be 1.0.0 which is crazy because for others a lot of PSP games on this version are not running smoothly
Yeah, so I briefly mentioned the “Fn” switch on the bottom. That is the battery saving function switch. It throttles the system pretty significantly to make the battery last longer. But there is no documentation inside the box that says that. So I’ve seen a couple of reviewers who have accidentally had it in battery saving mode and didn’t realize that’s why they were getting such poor performance. It was a completely honest and understandable mistake that I probably would’ve made too if they hadn’t made it first. Hope that helps! 🙂
Could you test F-Zero on N64 when testing the device? Also there are reviewers who have mentioned the FN button being turned on and it affecting the gameplay. So do keep an eye on that! Thanks
I switched the FN button in the video for increased performance. And yeah, I can try testing F-Zero in the full review. Subscribe so you don’t miss it! 🙂
I just got mine today. I don't have ANY super mario brother games on mine! Am I missing something?! Also, is there any way to add modern android games to it? Thus is a neat little system so far!
Mine came with a bunch of them. I just got the 64gb version. If you're on the main menu screen and you hit the "Menu" button, you should see an option pop up to search. Type in "Mario" and see if anything comes up. If not, I did have another comment that said theirs came with a completely different branded sd card and didn't have the same games that it looked like mine had. So I don't know if there's a quality control issue going on or what. As far as I know, there's no way to install Android games. Hope that helps, and happy gaming!
That’s so weird. It almost makes me wonder if my “new” one was actually used, and someone had swapped out the card and added ROMs to it before they decided to return it. Idk. 🤷♂️ I’m stumped. 🤔
Hope N64 works on this device well. Only ever liked one game on it: F-Zero. So would like to play that on this. I don't care much for custom firmware. I only play a handful of snes and megadrive games like F-zero (snes) and streets of rage and contra on megadrive. And that mostly it. GB GBA and other games consoles never interested me. So for me, if F-Zero on N4 works, I'll be happy with stock firmware!
How long do these devices last before they shit the bed. I've seen even the top leaders just fail after a few weeks. But this is sick, I'd think I would just buy the type C controller for the s23 Ultra but then again love that nostalgia
I've had all mine for a couple years and they're fine. They're pocketable but some common sense should tell you maybe take it easy with that if you need it to last
It’s hard to say. This device has only been out for a few months, but I have not seen anyone talking about it failing. I’ve been playing the original RG35XX for about 9 months, and it’s still doing great. 👍
It does have internal memory for the OS. It uses the single card slot for installing updates that you have to load onto the card from a computer, which hopefully they can change to OTA at some point, and for the games. So you should be able to use your own curated collection on your own micro SD card.
Depends. If you already have your own Rom collection, I would probably not get it with the sd card. If you don't, then I probably would. But I would make a back up of the included card, because they're cheap and tend to fail.
Why tho? These handhelds actually doesn't need that much of a power. Even PS3 operating only at 256MB RAM. It's all about how well the emulation software is. We're getting there, drop some donations to developers once in a while
@@popthatbeepBecause of the screen size and form factor. It's perfect for Psp and it can't play it properly. Which feels like a huge waste. I actually agree that emulation needs hella more optimization. But it's not that easy so be realistic about it. The Ps3 while only having a small ram used a custom graphics chip. The same goes for nintendo consoles. I paid for my yuzu, duckstation and other emulators. That's how I showed my support.
That would be nice and offer more power, but it would also significantly raise the price, and that's clearly not the companies vision for this device. They wanted it to be within "impulse buy" territory.
Funny how every review seems to showcase God of War and Super Mario 64, yet mine came with neither? Didn't come with that Vertical Shooter folder either,...and mine has a generic sd card. That's one of the things I hate about these handhelds. Even when you get them from the same place (got mine at Amazon too) you don't always get the exact same one. :( Anyway, its an ok device so far as it plays most of the games I want. RetroArch isn't as user friendly as the previous device though. Took me forever to figure out how to get rid of those bezels (permanently) as well as how to make some games vertical, and keep the controls set up after quiting the game. Still haven't figured out how to stretch the screen. That was so easy on the previous device. At least there's no annoying background music this time. 😅 One strange thing though. I keep getting a message at the bottom about Xbox 360 controls?
Are you serious? Those are a LOT of differences. I bought mine on Amazon and got the 64gb card version. Is that what you bought too? I’m sorry you’ve had such a frustrating experience!
@@BoKnowsGaming Yep, 64gb, black, 1.0.2 version. It seems to work just fine though, with only a few N64 games not working. Only other weird thing is that after switching to a SanDisk 128gb card, everytime I turn on the device its empty until I click on the "usb storage" tab. I did finally figure out how to stretch the games to full screen. Weird thing though (unlike the other changes that only apply to one game at a time) changing the aspect ratio changed it for all games in all systems. Looks great, so I guess no need to complain, lol.
I'm just still blown away that ours came with different cards and rom sets but were both 64gb versions. That's wild. I'm glad you were able to figure some things out and get some play time out of it though. 👍

Like I said, there’s some slow down. As I’ve played it more since this unboxing I’ve turned on the “Show framerate and speed” feature. It’s running between 20 and 32 fps. But as the fps changes, the screens refresh rate seems to also be changing to smooth out the experience. And the speed is consistently between 93.9% and 105%. I’m now running at 2x resolution. It’s the best I’ve seen on a budget handheld. I’m still impressed, but I’m not asking you to be. Thanks for watching. Happy gaming, friends! 🙂
