    You kept mentioning that you can’t upgrade the Legion 5 14’s RAM, but it’s definitely worth mentioning that you can order it with 32gb rather than 16 for just $50 more. That was the deal maker for me.

      Lenovo's lineup also on their website is STILL Confusing. Too many sub-models 5, 7, i, non-i pro, slim. Argg!
      Can someone plz just tell me which 2024 Lenovo models are comparable to the Asus G14?
      1. Thin and light 14" inch
      2. RTX 4070
      3. 32GB RAM
      4. AMD CPU (if available)
      5. Optional screen (worried about OLED burn-in so maybe Lenovo offers miniLED or IPS instead?)
      Which Lenovo model fits this profile? And is it a 2024 or 2023 model?

    To be honest, I do not get the conversation about the RAM not being upgradeable on the Slim 5 14 - Lenovo isn't Apple; I paid 60€ to bump it up from 16 to 32gigs (for Apple this would have been 460€). Keep in mind, it's 6400mhz speed on the Lenovo Ram - I really find that enough, even for demanding games and professional video/ photo editing. I previously had the ASUS G14 which had an upgrade slot but that introduced the issue, that beyond 16+16, you get decreased RAM speed, so not ideal. By the end of the day, the Lenovo gets me those sweet 32 gigs without any compromises at a very high RAM speed; not missing that measly RAM slot on the G14 in any way. Also, any sensible person should definitely go for the 32 gig variant of the Lenovo - it's very inexpensive - who would buy the 16gig version anyways, it makes little to no sense at that price-point

    • @jackal27
      @jackal27 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Definitely. I honestly think 32gb should have been the default, but that’s just me.

    I don't understand the burn in on oled: had 3 samsung phone with oled display and haven't noticed any issue. Legion slim 5 g8 14" is on its way. $1748 CAD (sale & gameplay discount, 1TB 32GB 7840HS: can't be beat). Will be replacing Thinkpad T540.

    Nice work brother.
    I'm in a dilemma. In a week, I have to make a decision on which laptop to get, and I'm torn between getting the Lenovo legion slim 5 14 oled, or the sleeker razer blade 15 oled (2022 // 3070 Ti). I LOVVEE the sleekness of the razer, but I think the legion would give me more raw power for 3D applications like Blender? Idk. HELPPP LOL

    Watching all these videos makes me even more happy we just went with the best overall laptop for the money by getting the Legion Pro 5 (7745HX/4070) and slapped a 32 gig 5600mhz kit in it. which boosted the performance even further for my wife's OBS/Adobe projects.

    After your last video I ordered the Legion with 32GB + 1TB for €1400. I was looking into the G14, but it's slightly more expensive and with less performance.
    I definitely see Lenovo making some compromises choosing the bigger keyboard layout in the expense of the size of the trackpad and upward facing speakers.

    Thanks for the great Review. For the Lenovo Slim 5 I have some concerns about the Oled Screen because it may burn in (and also without Gsync), I'm not sure If I get this one or I switch to MAC OS with a Macbook M2 Pro , indeed there is a difference in price between those 2 (around 600$ at the moment) but I really want something powerful for Video Editing and Photoshop (will game from time to time but will use it mainly for work). Ben what are your thoughts?

    • @lukastemberger
      @lukastemberger 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The M2 is better on battery. But who works and games on battery, right? Lenovo will be faster when it comes to video editing/rendering and of course gaming. OLEDs are just stunning and making sure you don't leave it on with the same picture for hours will be enough to prevent burn in. Also, lower the brightness to appropriate levels and you're golden. I have a 4 year old Zenbook Pro Duo with an OLED screen. I used it a lot, in Premiere too with the UI being static. No burn in whatsoever.
      I was really lucky to catch the B&H deal with the Lenovo Pro 5i for $1399. i9-13900HX, 4070, 32GB RAM. It's almost twice as fast as this Ryzen in Cinebench and supports all the video codecs with Intel QuickSync. I'd really recommend trying to find an option with an Intel 13900HX - 13980XH CPU if you can. It's the best you can get for video editing and rendering.
      Paired with a 40 series GPU, you'll get 50-100% more performance than even the latest M3. 4060-4070 will give you all you'll need for video effects and games. If you use Blender, After Effects and many layers of high res footage, you'll benefit greatly from the 4080 and its 12GB or RAM. But at that point, if you're looking for the most power, it's best to just build a PC. Best possible performance and lowest price.

      @Tiralful 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The MacBook and Legion aren't really even in the same wheel house. They're both fantastic for what they're designed for but they have completely different objectives. Also the MacBooks idea of "gaming" is if bootable typically a micro stutter fest.
