Thank you for this, it is helpful. I do not want to spend a lot of money to make me 2018 Silverado sound as good as it looks, and you have helped me a great deal.
But the one I really wanted to hear was with the muffler attached, the valve stock, and the resonator deleted to see if it sounded like the stock system from the '07-'13 trucks
Sounds good man. I'll be doing mine Monday. But my two cents would be instead of just revving, if you were to hold a few seconds say around 3000 RPM's would give a better example. Thanks for the videos by the way 🤙
Very in-depth video bro!! Just what I needed to watch. Think I wanna go with the... no muffler and no flapper value when I get some money saved up. Just want a little more rumble. Use to have a super loud Tahoe.. don’t want that again 😂
Excellent demo on this modification....thanks for making a video on it. I like #4 the best. I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado 5.3L stock exhaust. Not sure if I want to do this mod with the engine computer going into "V4" mode all the time. I did exhaust mods on my 2012 Chevy Silverado with cylinder deactivation and it sounded like ass when it went into V4 mode. But, EXCELLENT around town going through gears. On the highway (long distances...I hated what I did to that exhaust). Way too loud on the highway. But, to each their own. Quiet is good, loud is good (and fun sounding). I wouldn't mind doing exhaust mods to my 2014...but, Chevy and their stupid cylinder deactivation makes it sound horrible
The v4 cylinder deactivating is actually causing more harm then helping put stress on cam and lifters. Idk wat chevy was thinking. I got mind deleted. So mine v8 all the time. So much better. Even gas mileage is better.
You can disable cylinder deactivation with a tuner. I had to do that on my Challenger (sounded like a lawnmower with 4cyl). I intend to do the same when I upgrade exhaust on my silverado
#4 for sure. Good job. I have the 6.2, very confused on what I want to do with the exhaust.. I like the corsa sport cat back exhaust but might be to loud for my liking, I have neighbours lol
I also wanted corsa before but decided to see what I can accomplish for free, so far I love #4, will have to decide how to remove it, with a pipe clampled or just weld in a piece there, and if to cut out valve or or weld it open lol
Not that I hear unless you still have the v4 mode and keep the resonator and muffler if you remover those and keep the valve open it sound amazing. The valve is electrical at all it’s just based off of pressure so having it off will let your truck breathe better so imo a good thing to get rid of the valve muffler and resonator
Hey nick, i dont know how loud or aggressive you want your truck sounding. But i just watched some videos of the same generation silverado with the 5.3 and a flowmaster super 10. And they sound pretty nice and crisp! Excited to see what else you do!
Thx bro, my goal here was to pretty much do free mods to achieve best sounding exhaust. Wanted to do corsa exhaust before but wanted to see what can be accomplished with free mods lol
FixItNick ah of course. I totally forgot you mentioned that before. I just get so caught up in how nice your projects are that i always forget what youre trying to accomplish. If i never knew of your channel and saw your silverado or dually i wouldve thought you had a lot of money into high end aftermarket parts haha! (Besides the repairs of course).
Daniel Camplejohn I guess many things can be accomplished with DIY and patience lol... now don’t forget that motor home is not mine either haha, f350 bought for $5700 and will be actually selling Silverado soon because it’s gotten a bit tight here with $$ :(
Love #3 & 4. Planning on cutting my muffler and installing a pipe exactly like your old video, but I might delete the valve as well since I ordered a 5' pipe. Is there any V4 drone if I cut this valve? Would you recommend getting the AFM disabler as well?
I cut the valve as well in my next few vids after this much better sound without the valve, what’s the AFM the 4 cyl mode? I didn’t mind it hardly noticed
@@FixItNick yeah I saw your other video for the full delete too and it sounds great. Yeah people mentions the 4cyl mode will have an annoying drone, I guess I'll cut it out and hear for myself lol. Might be leaving the resonators for now though
So 2 years later.... Had any lift problems? The flap is for the afm. The motor is deaigned to drop to 4 cylinders under certain conditions as in highway travel. All the yada yada. You probably already know what it is by now. But im curious as to how the afm has reacted after 2 years without that flap. Im going to definitely do the muffler delete but if over 2 years it causes engine failure. Ill make sure i leave the flap.
I removed my resonator, muffler, and clamped valve open. There is a annoying drone at 70+mph and when it goes to AFM (V4) mode, it sounds like the engine is choking on gas and sputters. I'm going to remove my 3 inch muffler delete pipe, add a real muffler, and tune to remove AFM.
Delete it all, find a local tuner, and have them turn the V4 mod off. They could also Dyno tune it for you at the same time. A lot better use of $ vs. buying a handheld "tuner" Also - exhaust always sounds different/better when it exits from the vehicle and isn't just "dumping" out from under the truck. Unless you have actual turn down, then you get the sound hitting the ground and typically making it louder.
The cobra chip works nice. Cheaper than paying someone to turn it off and no computer lights to worry about. Just be aware of the battery drain in cold area's
Are these mods legal in states with safety\emissions tests annually? I know the emissions would be fine but they check things to see if they have been modded! Asking about TX exactly! Anybody know for sure? Thx
Sounds great. What do you notice performance wise, want to do something similar with a creditable CAI. Did you notice a boost in your throttle response?
Take it all out. Just cut that chunk of pipe out. It is restricting your air flow. If u really want it to sound deeper and more or power put in a "Cold air Inductions" cold air intake. There about $418 bucks but it is definitely worth it. Search for it on TH-cam. There is one video with a 2017 Silverado on the dyno
I did a muffler delete and I get a noticeable amount of drone. When you left the valve on , muffler delete , with the resonator still in place....was the drone less inside the cab?
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 and was thinking of doing a muffler delete but I seen I can do more can anyone plzzz tell me wat the resonator is and open valve??
Buy yourself a Range AFM disabler. They can be found for under $150. It simply plugs into the OBD port under the dash and you'll have no more AFM. It leaves no trace in the ECM so it's warranty friendly as long as you remove before service
@@FixItNick do they have the turn signal lights and reverse lights or just simple tow mirrors? I just got an 18 z71 was looking to maybe switch them out in the future.

Loved the third one. By far sounds beautiful.
Thx man I love 3 and 4 ... I’m driving 3 right now so far love it, after a week I’ll try 4 and remove resonator temporary and see if gets annoying
Super detailed and helpful video.
Thanks for putting the time in for the rest of us!🤘
Thanks

Love the closup of the valve, THANKYOU
Put something like a 3" or bigger tip with the resonator lining on wherever end of pjpe is. Changes the tone of it and in some cases, sounds cleaner
How about leaving everything stock except rear resonator? How would that sound?
horrible
Best Video for this gen truck. I found what i want to do with mine thanks !
Good video thanks. I have a 2016 .when I done my muffler delete we delete the valve. I need to delete the resonator now.

Im late to this but great sounding truck but I would like to know where you get your camper shell at, looking for something like so
im trying to do this muffler delete but inn your parts list from amazon there is only the pipe clamp ? where is the part # for the pipe?
Is it bad to leave the valve open all the time? Like for daily driving?

Number 4 sounds the best
Ya I like 3 and 4, 4 is louder version of 3, the clap just makes it sound weird
I like with just muffler delete and valve open with the resonators still on
Now can’t wait to see how it sounds or has drone at the speeds you showed us before and if it throws codes because of the mod.
I might get the resonator removed and do the freeway driving and such. Might either get clamps or weld it in not sure yet lol

Yes legal in CA
What diameter pipe did you use for the muffler delete?
2.75”
Awesome, thanks. Going with number 3, good clean sound. Thanks for the great video.
Which one is the resonator delete only?
I didn’t resonator only
Any backfires or popping when decelerating?
No not really sounds really good
Does keeping the valve open harm anything?
Nothing at all
what is that valve for?
ebaysnipa it’s to help with the weird sound that the 4cyl mode makes so it’s only for sound thats it
Sounds great. What do you notice performance wise, want to do something similar with a creditable CAI. Did you notice a boost in your throttle response?
Honestly not sure if noticed anything but enjoyed driving it much more
I think the resonator is 4 Highway drone…
Is deleting the valve trow a code
No there is no sensors connected there
No it doesn't.
