Nothing like experimenting with the most intricate Fisherman’s Sweater EVER. Well done. It was fascinating watching the trials and tribulations in the life of a knitter. You were very brave, but glad you finally followed through , and finished it. It looks beautiful, and don’t forget a little mistake here and there is what makes them unique. No Fisherman’s sweater is perfect. Awesome video. Keep up the great work. 🧶👍
I aspire to be as determined and talented as you 😭 this sweater looks amazing and the effort put into it is crazy. I doubt you’d put yourself through the hell of writing a pattern but if you ever do I will be eternally grateful
If anyone is looking for a pattern for this, there's a pattern called "The Handsome Chris Pullover" on ravelry that's a free google doc. Doesn't have the beautiful mockneck detail as in Zhade's, but luckily the modifications are well documented in this video! It does contain all the cable patterns and construction instructions. If you are knitting cables like this, i highly recommend knitting flat as doing so automatically tracks your "rest" rows in the cable pattern for you and its much harder to mess up. Worth the extra seam for me personally! Thank you Zhade for the video, im knitting my own version of this sweater for my husband at the moment and I am humbled by your willpower in frogging that sleeve so many times! If that happens to me i will absolutely be fudging the sewing to "good enough" 😅
I'm knitting a sweater with the simplest cables, from a pattern, with written instructions and charts, feeling pretty competent... then this video pops up 😅 Your dedication is truly amazing, and your deadpan delivery made this video 🥰
One of the most impressive and frustrating videos I've ever seen. My sanity could never withstand that many frogs. I applauded and watched in horror simultaneously. I need a nap
Thank you for this video it has taken me back to when my Grandmother was still alive and as a kid I would watch her knit me some beautiful cableknit sweaters every fall. Thank you ❤
3:50 The reason the apparent purl column width seems uneven is that sweaters like that are usually knit up to the collar, bound off, and then the collar is picked back up with different needles off the bound off edge. So if the pickup isn't even, there may be more ribbing above the same part of the knit on one side. tl ;dr don't trust collars ! Props to you for figuring all this cabling stuff by yourself, and awesome video :)
Love this video, you have described the neurotic side of knitting cables on a larger scale. You have incredible patience! Beautiful work with super fun and witty commentary, thanks!
I feel like I just watched a kindred spirit at work and I feel so seen 😂 I’m still quite a noob in this whole knitting arena and I’m here because I just unravelled part of a frankensweater I knit last year (as a means to learning some techniques) because I decided I wanted to incorporate some cables to it. I have an allergic reaction to following written instructions so I have only knit one sweater exactly as the pattern called for only to unravel the whole thing because I hated it and used the wool for a totally out of my brain on the fly sweater instead which I adore. I, too, prefer to learn the logic behind they “why” of anything so that I can really understand what’s happening which gives me freedom. Just following a pattern doesn’t really seem to teach me anything. Sort of like the old adage, “give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, you feed him for life.” Anyhow, I was delighted the whole way through this, although I definitely felt the pain, too. Thank you for this 😊
Absolutely love your video. Very inspiring. I am currently working on the stylecraft 4205 sweater and had to ladder all the way down the back to fix a wrongly crossed cable thankfully it is only child sized and I didnt have far to go. Your dedication is admirable. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
3:51 When you create a twisted rib (knitting through the back loop surrounded by purls) the stitch will be tighter/prettier, but will lean off to one side like on Chris's sweater. I think thats whats happening
Idk how I've only just seen this, but this was a herculean project and it looks absolutely incredible 😍you don't just have an inspirational level of patience, but also the t a l e n t like!!!!!!! honestly "well done" doesn't feel like it says enough, but well done!!!!
I keep coming back to this video because I'm in awe of the sweater and I'm planning to make one for myself ready for Valentines 2024. With some helpful guides online, I've also made up a custom (and a little bit simpler cuz cables scare me) version so thank you so much for inspiring us! As a side note: Do you remember how many yards/metres you used for this project? I'm having trouble gauging how much wool I would need for this project...
It looks gorgeous! It’s a project I also want to undertake this year but terrified of! I applaud your bravery and strength. It all payed off and you should be so proud!
I love this! It's so interesting to see how you approached this. Being able to improvise a sweater like this without a pattern is definitely a skill goal for me, it's so cool! I've got the Handsom Chris Pullover pattern (a free pattern for the Knives Out sweater), but I haven't quite had the guts to get started on it yet. It's so much work, and the fact that you just wing it, too... amazing. And your sweater looks really great!!
Wow! This is absolutely gorgeous! I’m what I’d consider an amateur-intermediate knitter so this is incredibly impressive lol. I’d love a pattern (as I’m sure others would) if you could but it’s 100% understandable if you wouldn’t want to 😂
amazing as always! Do you think you'll do cabled again in the near future? I always swear off cables for a few months after finishing a piece with them.
Thank youu :). I get what you mean - I can imagine your cables are complex! I tried talking myself out of this one after the last video, but here we are 😅. Will probably stay away for a while, but especially from those braids!!
It would have been a lot better if you go step by ste for us to learn from you. Could you please make this into a video tutorial for us? Nice work though
Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life! He died on the cross and rose again for the sin of the world so whoever believes in Him will NOT perish but hv ETERNAL LIFE!
The amount of times i would have been like “eh good enough”
I would love love love if you made this into a pattern.
There is a pattern for the sweater for free on Ravelry! It’s called “The Handsome Chris Pullover” by Caryn Shaffer 😊
As a knitter this was a journey of motivation, perseverance, tragedy, more perseverance and finally triumph. I loved it!

Pattern would definitely be quite a bit of work but probably worth it :)

this video was so inspiring, I might try my hand at a self-drafted cabled sweater now 👀
I'd say go for it!
I stumbled into a novel knitting adventure, thanks for that!

Wow, impressive! I have the same passion of not using recipes, it's more creative and fun that way!
Ur a mad genius
😂 I wish, it would have made things easier. The mad part I can get though haha
i really want to make a sweater like this!! does anyone know if there is a tutorial for this sweater or something that looks like this?
yes! there's a free pattern on ravelry for the Knives Out sweater - it's called the Handsome Chris Pullover.
@@lecy2525 Thank you!! I actually started it like 2 weeks ago and I've only completed a third of the front panel lol but it's progress nonetheless
Wild
Do you sell the pattern?
What weight yarn did you use for your project?
Yo this video is fuckin' lit! 🔥🔥🔥
What length of needles do you use?
Pattern please!
It would have been a lot better if you go step by ste for us to learn from you. Could you please make this into a video tutorial for us? Nice work though
There was no need to reinvent the wheel. Just buy a book with cable patterns

I love your videos ;___;
That's so cool! Especially that you're having fun with it too - the effort is worth it!
Means a lot to know you've been enjoying them, thank you :)
