      worth it, no, but fun to have? HECK YES

    • @fwiffo42
      @fwiffo42 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely worth it for me. I’m terrible at keeping a bar centered during the re-rack. I’ve used Irwin and Bridge and I give the nod to Irwin. They’re tight as is and having the option to put a pin that matches your upright hole size makes them the most secure rollers out there. I currently have my bridge rollers set up rather permanently for bench and they do work well there. I wish they had used sunken in bolts/washers but that would only be an issue for me on squats.

      I'm not to the point that I need them yet, but since when has that ever stopped us upgrading our gyms?
      It would be great if you could get a set of Mutant Metals Snap-Back Rollers. They're far from cheap, but they're a mono-lift and J-cup in one.

    My set of custom J-cups from Irwin just arrived today, and to say I’m impressed with the build quality and perfect fit on my Rep Fitness PR-5000 rack is a huge understatement! It’s a work of art that I’ll be highlighting in future content, and I’m really glad I took your suggestion to buy them. It wasn’t cheap, but it’s WELL worth the money for what I got. 💪

    • @ronniefarhat95
      @ronniefarhat95 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad to hear this! I just ordered a pair of the Irwin roller jcups and I let Irwin know that I’m specifically going to be using it on a REP PR-5000 V2 rack, so I’m hoping for a nice fit.
      One question - are you able to use the optional additional bottom insert pins on the REP rack, or does the pin not go through due to the slightly off spacing between the holes?
      Thank you!

    • @FitLabb
      @FitLabb 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ronniefarhat95 What color or finish did you order yours in? I opted to get mine in an unfinished swirl-like pattern with a clear coat over it. Looks incredible!
      As for the additional pin hole on the bottom, it doesn’t work with the REP PR-5000 rack because of the slight offset spacing between holes, but I honestly don’t need to use it as it fits so snugly in once you set it in place. It’s actually the best fitting J-cup I’ve ever used and doesn’t budge an inch unless you really apply a good amount of pressure to it.
      Enjoy them, they’re definitely a great investment that you’re going to be glad you bought!

    • @ronniefarhat95
      @ronniefarhat95 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FitLabb that’s what I figured about the pin, but I thought I’d ask just to make sure.
      As for finish, I went with the standard textured black, as that’s what I’ve gone with for all my other attachments (my rack itself is matte black). Literally my gym is all matte black and stainless steel (all my barbels, as well as my Mutant Metals UDA). Only exception are my benches, which I bought in blue before I had the rest of my equipment.
      I’m really looking forward to the rollers! I currently have 2 pairs of rep round sandwich 2.0 jcups, and while they’re nice and I like the position of the bar, I noticed right away that it’s super hard to center my Rogue Ohio Power Bar due to the fairly aggressive knurling. After doing some research, it seems like getting the Irwin’s was the right move, so I went for it!

    • @ronniefarhat95
      @ronniefarhat95 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@FitLabb btw, the finish you chose sounds AMAZING 👍 REP’s clear coat looks spectacular, so I would imagine they’re the perfect combo!

    • @FitLabb
      @FitLabb 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ronniefarhat95 Thank you! I actually bought the blue rack from REP which looks incredible, and it makes the unfinished Irwin J-Cups pop that much more.
      I’m actually planning on featuring the rack and new Irwin J-Cups in at least a couple videos I’m just beginning to work on for my channel in the near future, in case you’re interested to see what they look like. One of the reasons I actually bought the J-cups in this finish was specifically for filming purposes to be used for some killer b-roll in future content, and they came out better than I expected. Definitely well worth the wait and price!

  • @OnatBas

    One important use-case for narrower racks is that it makes unloading much safer, as centered bars on a narrow rack will still be tippy as you unload one side of the bar. With rolling j-cups you can slide the loaded side all the way in and it will give you more leverage.

    I have a pair of Ghost JCups from Ghost Strong before the Rogue purchase and just got a set of Rogue Ghost 2.0 JCups. Both are beautiful - originals are custom painted and 2.0s are the basic black (which matches the black Rep rack options almost perfectly). I have 2 sets because I keep a pair of Duffalo blocks in the originals. The biggest improvement of the 2.0 is the inclusion of the uhm on the front of the JCups. Only complaint that applies to both is the loose fit on the Rep PR-4000 uprights. I need to add some tape to tighten them up. But overall love them. Ghost has the best logo.

    I got a pair of the ghost rollers during their black friday sales and they're super tight on my SML-1, enough that I hurt my hand every time I hit them to take them off. I also really like my XII:XI sandwich jcups that I got on sale due to them going under ☹

    They are a luxury addition. Not to say that's bad but you absolutely do not need them. Step 2.5 inches to the left and you're centered etc. Nice but no one needs to feel like they need these. If you are an experienced heavy lifter, you are usually putting the bar back pretty much centered anyways. If you want them, or someone gives them to you for a XMas present, no problem, but don't ever feel you NEED them.

  • @starcraftdad

    Great video as I don't believe any other reviewer has done a review on all of these together. One thing though ...doesn't make sense to me to critique the vertical length of a j-cup because of 2 different height users .... if you guys are both using the same J-cup at the same position and one is tall and the other is short, then certainly one of you is squatting from a very incorrect height anyways and the point is a nonstarter to me.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the reality of working out with others and even if you were alone the back length can still be an issue. My friend is 5'9" and I'm 6'. It's enough of an issue that the back is a problem when we workout together. What if you're the same height and one high bar and low bars squats? Even similar height people when benching can have different length arms. It's a legitimate criticism imo.

    • @starcraftdad
      @starcraftdad ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GlucksGym maybe im just coming from my own powerlifting bias. Powerlifters (typically) will avoid sacrificing bad starting position. All of your examples involve two people lifting in the same rack ... so i guess if that's the reality then it IS an issue; if it were me I'd tell them to go use a diff rack or lift later cause I'm not about to do an extra half-rep as my unrack because the cups are too low lol.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@starcraftdad that makes sense. If I going for a PR or very heavy lifts we'd do it differently but on a daily basis we make it work. It's also why Wynie has her own rack now 😂

      Having watched most your videos for the pure curiosity of your take on items, this is the first in a while that will help me make a decision. I've been pondering on rollers for a while and I have confirmed now that I am not getting the fugly ass titan ones as I originally thought. Likely will be ghost...maybe Irwin if I'm feeling extra spicy.

    • @NorthernYankee
      @NorthernYankee ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Alex_Piazza the Titans aren't terrible, I got a set when they first came out for like $75 and they work fine for what they are. But I did upgrade to a set of the mutant metals and while they are better, they are pricey. Don't discount the Titans if you have a small budget.

      I prefer flat. It allows me to roll the bar forward for bench but I can still position the bar toward the back for squat.
