Another good video. It might be a little bit of a stretch to call it a "speciality bar" but I just purchased farmers walk bars/handles as my "second bar" purchase. Absolutely love them and offers something different than my normal lifting.
Bars ordered: first - Rogue Ohio second - Rogue Women's Bella bar (girlfriend uses it and I use it for landmines) third Rogue curl bar forth - Eleiko open trap bar (V1 with single handle)
Great video as always. Heres the order I recommend buying specialty bars in....ez curl bar (cheap and versatile), multigrip bar (more variety thanks to the different handles and less stress on joints) or if you cannot afford it or don't have the space get a triceps bar (mini version of a multigrip bar), open trap bar, axle bar (grip strength), adjustable kettlebells (pair), ssb if you actually need it. And of course make sure to have a beater bar for the landmine and at least one pair of loadable dumbbell handles.
Another great video! My first specialty bar was the rackable titan curl bar. Last night I just ordered the Kabuki Transformer bar and am looking to add a cambered multi-grip bar for Christmas so I’ll be anxious to view the shootout video you’re putting together for those bars.
Great video. My list goes: Curl bar Deadlift bar Flat multi-grip bar Log press bar SSB Cambered bars, REP and Elitefts In that order. I am considering a trap bar. I also have 3 straight bars, Elitefts power bar, Synergee bearing bar, and a cheap landmine bar. Yes I have a problem and no I am not in counseling.
I wanted to keep things simple with just a BoS powerlifting bar but my wife absolutely hates squatting with it, it roughs up her back and she can’t ever seem to get comfortable with it. Thanks to all your SSB videos I’ve convinced myself one of them will solve the problem and will probably pop on one as soon as something goes on sale
I only have 2 specialty bars. 1. My first was a Rogue rackable curl bar. This bar also doubles as a pressing bar (bench and overhead) and allows a less pronated grip for these two lifts, sort of a poor man's multigrip bar. 2. My second bar was a Kabuki open trap bar. I like it because it gives me a more neutral grip hand position. I bought a cosmetic blemish version and I went up to Kabuki (40 miles or so) to pick it up so it got closer to the competition $ wise. 3. . . . My next (don't say that so loud!) SB will be a safety squat bar. Thanks to your reviews I think I'm going to sit on the new Rep SS bar until they have a pop sale or some special. This isn't a specialty bar but I also bought a Bella bar from Rogue, just for front squats. I use a crossed arms technique for this lift and the smaller diameter, shorter bar works great for these. The only drawback to using the Bella is the sleeve length which limits the number of plates you can use. Fortunately/Unfortunately I haven't exceeded the length limit yet. :(
Great vid, SSB is the only way my shoulders let me squat heavy. We've also gotten a lot of use out of Rogues 10KG youth bar, it's much more convenient than swinging around a 7' bar for many lifts.
1. RACKABLE EZ Curl Bar, cause arms. 2. Kabuki Transformer Bar or SSB, cause shoulders are prone to injury and squatting is critical. 3. Farmers Walk Handles, cause traps, core, misery and grip. 4. Axle Bar, cause grip. 5. Deadlift Bar, cause you bought #4 to better your DL grip.
I'm heading down the specialty bar path now. Picked up the Titan SSB and have enjoyed it so far. Definitely eye-balling a Camber Bar and Open Trap bar for my next two. Excited to see the REP Open Trap Bar review before deciding.
Texas power bar. Rogue curl bar, rack, dumbbells, bench. I also have titan leg extension/curl and a lat pulldown. That all youll ever need. Id love to have my lat pulldown added to the back of my rack like a rep ares, but the low row and double hook lat attachment arent my thing. They super messed up
I fell off my back steps and fractured and dislocated my elbow and can no longer turn my hand from neutral, so all my lifting is now specialty bars and dumbbells- CAP Mega Hex Bar for Deadlifts, EliteFTS Yolk Bar for squats, Rogue multi grip bar for floor presses, and dumbbells for rows
What I have: - EZ curl bar (I have REPs) Going to buy: - Open Trap Bar - SSB Considering: - Cambered multi-grip bar I like all the REP offerings. P.S. I’m into bodybuilding and don’t do regular deadlifts (sumo/conventional). RDL/SLDLs, back extensions, and maybe trap bar deadlifts when I get mine are my main movements. Also, trap bar RDLs and bent over rows are great movements.
I have 1 speciality bar so far. My strategy is a bit different, I went for a bar that helps the lift I like the least (squat). Originally was going to go Rep SSB but managed to snag a Transformer bar for $300 off fb marketplace. I'm definitely enjoy squatting a lot more now.
I have to say, the trap bar bit was kinda funny. Ive been using one now for about 7 months, and I've probably used it as much as my straight bar. And I've used it for pressing, and rows, not just deadlifting. It really is and cliche useful as people make it out to be.
Your videos are equal parts hilarious and informative! Nicely done! Anxiously anticipating the camber bar showdown, though I'm strongly leaning Rogue/Kabuki Kadillac to replace my traditional Football and Swiss (which I virtually never use) bars. Cheers
Overall, a good list of priorities. Reassuring order of purchase. Matches my first two. Then came the Elite FTS SS Yoke bar for me. Next up will probably be the trap bar. Might go for a squat bar before a deadlift bar (I hate hitting the uprights.)
I deadlift to strengthen my spinal errectors. For no other reasons. While my back training includes hypers on a 45deg bench Iwant to add a second exercise. And stiff legged deadlifts are perfect for that since good mornings will kill you.
Dang Gluck 7 plate Hatfield squat?! Lol just kidding I have a football bar, SSB, deadlift bar, and a trap bar. They all add variation to my workouts. Great video y’all
Love this channel. Correct me if I’m wrong, the portion of your lovely better half military pressing the Kabuki is B roll, used before, and I only say that as she has the bar backwards as when I saw it before. The work Kabuki should face away/forward as that puts the handles correct. Btw, I have the kabuki but like the look and build of the new Rogue better. I own the Eleiko trap bar. Love their quality.
I only have one specialty bar, and it's a Titan Fitness SS bar. My shoulders cannot handle the stress of a regular squat. It's the only way I can do them.
Cambered football barbell i think is op but in my country it is very difficult to buy besides rogue but not ,they are thieves. Trap bar is very good if it is open at one side.
I bought all my stuff at once during these black friday sales. I got a camber, safety squat, curl, I just need the open trap now. Well and that 300 dollar unlabeled prime handles set lol
My choices: 1. Elite FTS SSB Yoke Bar (still the king of ssb's in my opinion.) 2. Buffalo/Duffalo Bar (I use this all the time for comp squats and it has 100% carryover to straight bar for me) 3. Deadlift Bar (Texas bar is king here, still not sold on the Kabuki just yet) 4. Curl bars (Rogue is my choice here) 5. Kabuki transformer and Marrs bar (both luxury bars, but I really like both.) 6. I don't really care that much about trap bars.
I think the biggest reason for a specialty bar is versatility, and the most versatile of these options are trap bars and cambered multi-grip bars so they (along with an ez-curl bar) would likely be my top choice for first few bars to purchase. It also doesn't hurt that I'm a REP simp and REP seems to have the best combination of budget + quality on all three bars.
first 3 bars I would want any kind of ssb or yoke bar any kind of cambered bar (e.g. buffalo) any bar that has a neutral grip (e.g. swiss bar, football bar) Not even fussy about which brand, just any access to these 3 would be nice.
I only have one specialty bar, and I do not intend on getting another. I bought an open trap bar because of its versatility compared with other speciality ones.
Great vid, Bro. My first bar was a Rep Sabre bar because I got it in a package deal from Rep along with my rack and 320 pounds of weight. Right after that I got a cheap used multigrip bar because I have bad shoulders. It is flat and so cheap that I have had to take a metal file to it to get rid of burs on the knurling. My most recent bar is a used trap bar that I got because my lower back is also bad. My next bar will probably be a replacement for my multigrip bar. I’d like a Marrs bar but I’m not ready to take out a new mortgage to get one. I know that you have a carefully gathered collection of dumbbells but do you plan on doing any reviews of adjustable dumbbells? I don’t have the money or space for a full set.
Your first specialty bar was a curl bar, gungnir just released a curl bar, I see the hints the universe is throwing at me. Now, I just need the universe to provide about $700 to cover its suggestion. Rogue is good too, though. Your turn universe.
Hi there. Is there a video about getting stress from the shoulders why I am benching. I have problems with my left shoulder. Does the stress on the shoulders go away because of the neutral grip or is it something else?
Neutral or angled grips can help. It could be your technique as well but that's impossible to determine without a video but the grips 5pm multi grip bars tend to help relieve joint stress.
I’m only a couple months into owning a home gym and I’m trying to build up slowly. Right now I have loadable dumbbell handles and a cheap Olympic bar. If I had to choose one, should I get a hex trap bar, a curl bar, or a multi grip? I’m leaning towards the curl bar myself but I’m not sure.
When you review the Rep open trap bar, can you mention what it feels like to squat with it? It seems like it could potentially be a more comfortable position than using a traditional bar (similar to an SSB, minus the handles) because of how the weight rests on it. Might give you one more reason to buy it as well… gotta find a way to justify spending more money while still getting the same results!
I'm in the market for a curl bar and I have no idea the specs to look for in a curl bar as far as tensile strength, is a shorter bar better, who makes the best bars. I like the gold sleeves on the bells of steel bar. Is that a good bar? I need some help here

You just click it, it will take you to the website, and buy whatever you want. It is not a discount code I just get a small % of the sale amount.
@@GlucksGym
Oh ok, I click on it in the description and just buy it from there. I was trying to put your code in on my desktop and I could not get it to work. A discount would be nice but I also want to support your channel as I learn so much about equipment from your videos and they are entertaining.
I appreciate that. As we get larger we might be able to pressure companies for a discount (we're working on it 😁).
I hope you keep your treadmill!
But why! There's so many other things I could get like another treadmill.!
Like everyone on the Internet, I don't like to wait, especially when it comes to home gym equipment. What are some good items I can obtain immediately that may placate me while waiting for TH-cam celebrity favorites?
I'm not one to recommend things 😂 so I'd just watch that Gluck's Gym channel he seems to really know his stuff and be authentic
@@GlucksGym Yeah, I heard that dude's own students have no clue of his future real job. If he recommended where I could get some Clark Kent glasses, I'd be spending my kid's 10,000 recently forgiven sins in a heartbeat.
Nothing builds muscle better than a normal bar DL
Make all the money and buy all the bars. It seems simple 😎
I only have 2 specialty bars "right now." Ha! An SSB and an open trap bar. I don't know if I need another one, so I'll wait for you to convince me otherwise in a future video. BTW, Basement Brandon looks hot in a bikini! 😆
Another great video! (You get paid per TH-cam comment right????)
Haahaha I wish
What bands would you recommend?
Get outta here! You know the answer 😂
@@GlucksGym if only you had a video of 8 things for $50 or less that would help with this question
I think there's like 6 where I say the same bands 😂
@@GlucksGym man, I wish I seen a couple of them. Maybe if there was a video about what you would get if you were starting from scratch.....I'm doing this knowing it's interrupting house of dragons
I'll try to do better 😢
i do deadlift 500 pounds! on a normal bar
will just stick to em good ol rusty bars ,old skool style
I tried a while back to use your affiliation and could not get it to work so I left a comment to U about it and I was using my dry humor and then I realized they might get the wrong context but I assure U I enjoy your channel and meant nothing as i was using my humor. Take Care
Hahah that's ok. You're right though it's hard to tell with comments and sometimes I can't tell which way people want things taken. Truly appreciate the thought though. Those affiliates are really the only way we keep going. This stuff is expensive and TH-cam isn't exactly paying a ton at this size.
@@GlucksGym
I wish U all the best and everything I buy I am going through U if U have an affiliation with the company I buy from
Titan needs to make a Cadillac bar
An SSB is your least favorite but you have three on hand and one being borrowed
😢 Don't tell people. Also I'm sending the Titan Series to my friend tomorrow. They take up too much space to hold them all!
The first bar I bought was a DL bar
