    This is an EXCELLENT youtube “how to” video. It tells me all that I need to know but it doesn’t show a bunch of stuff I don’t need to know. Well done.

    I have been working on trying to clean the printheads for this same printer over and over again and nothing was working. I bought the cleaning kit on Amazon that you showed. Didn’t work. I seriously even laid hands on my printer and prayed. Then I found your video, bought the spray cleaner you used and it is now working!! PTL. Thank you!

    Oh my goodness! It worked!!!! After over an hour of HP customer service only for them to tell me I needed to replace my printer head. Then to calling around town for printer repair service that were either too expensive, not available, or did not even answer their phones. I'm so glad I decided to try TH-cam before giving up. Thank you so much!!
    I did a DIY cleaning kit. I had some 10mL syringes and did a mixture of RO water and Isopropyl alcohol, about half and half. I did a total of 40mL.

    Thank you so much I wish HP took enough pride in their products to provide support or tips like these. I had watched another video in which they removed the printhead and washed it. I tried that but it didn't work. Then I saw somewhere it said try printing all black dark documents or pictures. I did that twice, now it works. I'm sure this would have been a lot faster and easier!! Thanks so much! Truly appreciate you❤

    Thank you very much. I just got my fluid you spray in the tube yesterday. It worked like a charm. Now, my machine is back to printing normally.
    You saved me from buying a new machine. You included the critical part: putting that paper strip underneath to catch the fluid.

    You saved my HP6958 printer. I was running out of options and was starting to look for a new printer when I came across your video. I used the $5 electronic cleaner you show and afterwards had to run the “clean the printheads” tool up to the third level. Result: All colors are working now. Thank you!!!

    Very helpful. Quick and easy solution that didn't require dismantling the printer at all. I used a spray can of isopropyl alcohol contact cleaner and found that if I tipped the can too far sideways, all I was doing was blowing propellant through the printer heads. Worked like a charm once I held the can upright and bent the straw to reach the printhead and blast it with plenty of liquid. Thank you!

    OMG! Like new! Went through 3 paper towels under the carriage LOADED with expelled ink (NOTE: three separate paper towels, not three at once!). Printed Quality Report, then head cleaning 1, but still no blue. Ran head cleaning 2, and it came out perfect. Printed Quality Report again perfectly. Tested with high res photo - PERFECT!

    It works! After calling HP support they offered 1) $14.95/month for support or 2) $99 ONE time support conversation. I declined as my company won't pay for this transaction. I was stuck and turned to your video. I love how to the point it was. My daughter who is in virtual Occupational Therapy Graduate School needs to print Powerpoints every day. I didn't have any of that contact cleaner so I substituted Office Depot Dust Cleaner. Air worked too! Thank You!

    Worked great, but I was worried because the first couple color printouts were blank. I ran the built in "Printhead Cleaner" process 3 times. On the third run, everything came out beautiful! I appreciate your awesome post on this, especially after trying the "Printhead Cleaner" a bunch of times with no success.

    This product, combined with a purchased printerhead cleaning solution left to soak for several hours, saved my HP OfficeJet 6968 from going in the trash. My problem was horizontal white lines through my blue and black print. After many many many attempts to use the printerhead self-cleaning function and manual cleanings, tons of wasted paper and cartridges of wasted ink, THIS worked! Don't toss your printer until you try it and don't be discouraged if you have to do several more of the printer's printerhead self-cleanings afterward. The last one I did still wasn't perfect, but after my printer sat overnight, it was back to normal the next time I printed.

    I have one of these rediculous printers and boy do I regret ever buying an HP printer. It is constantly getting clogged heads after a few days of no use. I believe This is because the ink dries on the head as I think stupid HP doesn’t blot the ink when the printer head rests. This means even if you use this excellent process outlined by this video (great video by the way) to clean the heads, the problem will reoccur. I believe what we have here is an HP DESIGN PROBLEM. The so called experts at HP have created a dud in my opinion. And what’s worse is they won’t own up to it when you contact their customer service department.....who appear totally clueless, and simply tell you to clean the heads and replace the ink....which most of us blindly do....but I find I have to use the “clean print heads” process on the printer menu system (which is rediculously convoluted to get to!.....another stupid HP Design issue) at least 3 times and often 5 times before the print heads finally get clean.....and guess what - I am one of those suckers paying for the ongoing printer ink plan which costs $ every month and allows me to print 100 pages before I get charged per page to print, so those pages that get printed when trying to clean the print heads are counted. If I print every 4 days that means I’m cleaning print heads every 4 days and wasting three to 5 pages of paper each time. That’s 21 pages to 35 pages of wasted paper every month that gets counted as part of my ink allotment. But the biggest problem is the time it takes to clean the print heads using the printer menu is about 5min each time. If I have to do that process 3 to 5 times to clean the print heads, it takes 15 min to 25 min of wasted time......wow that is inefficient and so frustrating. I’ve never sworn so much at a printer. I can tell you, my hatred for this HP printer runs deep.
    So, I believe the huge problem here is that I don’t use my printer every day.....I use it probably every 3 or 4 days.....plenty of time for the ink to dry and clog between uses. I love the video outlined above. Maybe if I use this process rather than printer menu “clean print heads” process I might save 5 min. Admirable, but you have to ask the question.....”why do I need to do this at all?”. It is rediculous that HP have created such a nightmare printer. For a professional and experienced organization, how could they do us customers such a disservice? That’s my opinion anyway. How many others feel like I do?

      Hi. My printer is officejet pro 6970 Keep Pop Out 'Printhead Problem' when every time I on. I can't print anything. Want to check with you see whether am I having the same issue like you ?
      How you solve this ? Change whole printhead or just use stringe flushing method to clean up?
      After use string flushing method the printer printhead error will disappear automatically?
      Very frustrating with this printer. I only use around 2 years. Change cartridge once only. still got spare cartridge with me. :(

    • @bentleynut1648
      @bentleynut1648 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wayson Chong Wayson, yes these printers are garbage in my opinion. I do not get print head error messages on the display. Instead, as an infrequent user,every time I print, say every 4 -7 days, the printout quality is awful. Usually black or colors don’t print properly on the page. Then I have to go through cleaning print heads function on the printer menu at least 3 to 5 times.....l typically waste 25 min doing this, or you can do what this TH-cam person is doing in the video and run cleaning solution through it......
      BUT YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO! This is a faulty design in my opinion. I confronted an HP representative in a Staples store where I bought the printer and told her it was garbage....Explained the whole thing. She said it is possible the ink dries out (because I am an infrequent user) and then she recommended another HP printer that is more expensive and has a different system for dispensing the ink.well there is NO WAY IM BUYING ANOTHER HP PRINTER. Luckily I bought the Staples insurance when I bought the printer. The HP rep just said use the staples insurance to get a refund on the printer (after the 12 months ownership) and use the credit towards buying another printer.........and that’s what I’ll be doing

    • @bentleynut1648
      @bentleynut1648 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cio Dokop yes I do know that the industry is a real scam in my opinion. It does several things that are really crappy...
      1) it forces you to buy ink at incredibly high prices.....way beyond the real price of ink
      2) it changes ink cartridge designs very frequently to force you to buy new printers and inks ( I guess they are trying to stay ahead of the counterfeit ink suppliers who work out how to circumvent the printer companies protection mechanisms ....like smart chips)
      3) it has cheapened the design of the low end home printers to the point that they are often unusable. This video is a case in point. Why are we having to flush clean print heads?....rediculous!

    • @terenfenn9672
      @terenfenn9672 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you said it. I am at this very moment struggling to get black to print anything. I just bought 4 new tanks because they were getting low but wait there's more. It wasn't printing perfectly and I figured I'd have to dismantle and clean the print head. I unplugged it and moved it just two feet so I could work on it, I plugged it in and it printed out the most awesome demo photo I've ever seen, then a couple ABC test pages and they only had a small spot missing, same with the alignment page. So I go to Staples and pick up a new 902 and now it will not print any balck, color no probs but black is a no go. Just performed the syringe and tubing high pressure trick and still nothing. Must be ten pages after the cleaning, at least thirty pages all totalled, not a speck of black. Must be a defective tank, think I'll take it back and howl at them. The last one was China/2020 expiry, the new one is Malaysia 2021. Sighhhh...really need it up and running. :(

    An easier way of centering the printhead is simply unplugging the power cord from the back of the printer after you lift the lid and the printhead centers. You don't have to fight it. Headed to Home Depot to get the contact cleaner.

    Excellent!!! Great video - my good ole HP Officejet Pro 6968 eats ink ..... and most recently I learned that I might as well just buy a whole new printer for a few bucks more than a set of ink cartridges now costs. When you run "Printer Maintenance" I assume it just forces ink through the pads, thereby consuming even more ink. BUT - this cleaning method really helps and makes sense. Gotta find the spray electronics cleaner - wondering what the solvent is ..... thanks for posting this along with clear verbas explanations.

    I had to clean the head twice very thoroughly with cleaner, but after spraying the red several times and the running the clean printer heads, it finally started printing stripes and after running the clean printer six or eight times it finally was printing a solid box. Nice video. I do have 1 comment though.
    Instead of holding the sled, why not just pull out the power cord? The problem with just pulling out the power cord instead of shutting down is that the sled doesn't go to the park position to cover the print head and keep it from drying out. However, since that's exactly what you're wanting to do in this case, that will work. It keeps you from overriding the system which, theoretically, could cause some damage (unlikely, but possible). Pulling the power cord and waiting a couple of minutes before starting the cleaning also gives time for all the capacitors to discharge and assure you have no power anywhere on the printer. If you don't pull the power cord, a power bump may cause it to turn back on. Also, if you have it set to turn on using a schedule, it's be just your luck that you were trying to clean the head just as it was scheduled to turn itself on.

I used a straw, put it in the solution, closed the other end with my finger and then released on top of the print head. I put a lot of the nail polish, it dried quicker than my 50% alcohol solution. Then I let it dry and ran the "Clean Printhead" option about 3-4 times until the black letters came out

    Thanks so much for posting this! Hadn't seen any blue from my printer for months (ever since HP supplied me with 2 faulty cyan ink cartridges in succession). Tried lots of things and was about to give up and buy a new one when I found your video. Soaked the blue head by channelling cleaning alcohol onto it with a cotton bud, let it sit awhile to dry, and by the 3rd print head clean the blue was back! It seems a lot of people have trouble with cyan - is it more prone to drying out?

    My colors were the problem and are now working great. I took the black cartridge out and wrapped in plastic wrap and then put in a ziploc bag while the print heads dried after cleaning. I cleaned print heads up to level 3, yet black won’t work now. Did I dry out the cartridge? The color cardridges were replaced just now.

I have had the printer clean its own printheads at least half a dozen times, I have replaced the ink cartridges with new ones, and I even followed this video to manually clean the print head? Is there anything else I can do or try so that it prints with ink and not just black white sheets of paper? Otherwise, do you think that the reason its not working is because it's old? Should I get a new printer? Ive had this one (HP OfficeJet Pro 6968) for 3 years now. Do printers typically have a life line? If so how long?

    I think the video is great. But you didn’t say what it was you pipetted onto the wells before spraying the electronic cleaner. I would guess distilled water, but clarification would help. Many thanks.

    I learned the way you treated your pronthead to then apply to mine, but it turns out to be nothing, though. I dont know if there is still something wrong to my printer. My ink cartridge of Black color is full, and the rest is notified to have low ink or empty, but I still keep these color ink cartridges in the printer as I don't think they matter as long as the printer could work properly and I use Black ink only.
    Do you think the problem comes from the Low ink cartridges?

    Did not work. In fact i lost colors i already had after spraying. Cleaned print head multiple times and not a peep of color now. Prints only black as i didn't mess with black. Could it be the cartridges? How would i know my cartridges are good?

    I've got an issue where my printer just started acting up after I tried replacing the black ink cartridge. It works just fine with the old cartridge, but the new one only prints blank. I tried cleaning the copper contacts with rubbing alcohol as well as running many cleaning and alignment cycles. It only prints blank pages. Should I try cleaning the contacts?

    Best way is to have bottles of ink handy fill the blocked print head with ink put the cartridge back in and let the thing sit while the excess ink finds its way through then try printing the colour that was blocked. If you replace cartridges and print quality is not what it should be give the ink time to soak through as there will still be air in the head.
