1983 Honda ATC200X, Clutch Seized From Sitting, Ridden Anyway!

- Bought this Honda ATC200X several years ago and I have used it intermittently, unfortunately, the clutch seized up from sitting unused. This vintage Honda ATC started on the first kick after sitting for a year. We managed to get a ride by giving it a rolling start and shifting it without the clutch. Hopefully, with some riding and use, the clutch will begin to operate properly!

ATC 200x is the best ATV I've ever owned
Hey Francisco!!! I always say that the ATC200S is my favorite 3 wheeler, but, I must say, riding the 200x again brought back a lot of good memories!!! I think the 200X is a least tied! I have a few 200x machines in various states of disrepair... I need to put in some time with them!!! Thanks for the info, Ur thoughts, watching, and commenting!!!
Man. I had a 1983 200x, I bought from a guy I knew, he bought it new so I was second owner, I had lot's of fun on that bike, sold it and got a 1986 350x even more fun !
The 200x is my favorite trike. Up here even the junk ones cost a fortune. Feet down,heads up Harvey. DD

That’s a great Honda engine.It turn on after sitting for awhile.I put a 212cc hemi engine with a juggernaut on my little Atv and its so fast.I beat two big Atvs in the woods.I also best my friends 420cc gokart.

That's some collection of things Harvey. Sticky clutch but looks like it has plenty of power. Looked a lot of fun Mate. I wished you luck lol am sure you will sort her clutch.👍✌

She's definitely an oldie but a goodie looks in pretty good shape I said it before and I said it again you can't kill an old Honda ATC Honda definitely knows what they were building back in those days

Clutches are for starting and stopping ! No inbetween ! Lol not to bad on the eyes !
Hey Dave! U asked about stripped threads on an earlier video, next time I have one, I'll be trying the JB weld like this guy did... th-cam.com/video/r5VSz9iEw5o/w-d-xo.html . Use a fresh gasket and oil both sides before install and the seal should be tighter than a ducks butt!!! LOL! When I was a kid, I rode an old dirt bike with a broken clutch cable. Back then, if it moved, we rode it... We used to push it to get it started... Some how, my mind is young, but my mirror image and the pain in my bones says old!! 200x is my unicorn. I was raised on 200s so the x is my goal. 250r and 350x doesnt really float my boat. Cane back to edit, that first kick tho, god loves a honda. Here's a video idea. Get that clutch workin good. I'd love to see a vid on your personal opinion of this vs 200s (been watching long enough to say it's your average favourite) is the engine better, is the suspended body better for the $ etc etc etc. Maybe even do a quick vid with two examples side by side and get people to comment questions
Hey Ashley!!! It has been awhile since I rode a 250r or 350x, but, right off the top of my head is that the 200x has a much lighter and more balanced feel than the 250R, 350X, and even the 200S. Given the lighter feel, the engine seems to feel stronger. Once I get one of the 200X with the 200S conversions running, I should compare the 3 of them.... that will happen if there is to much leaver play. i just re-ringed my 91 honda xr200r runs great and no smoke. i was cheep and reused gaskets and stretched timing chain i just retarded it 1 tooth and runs a lot smoother and i can get the ignition timing right now and has more top end, used to not like to rev much and vibrate the vibration is gone too. im glad i tore it apart before buying the rings it is overbore 1mm and has a wiseco high compression piston. im stoked about it. i did half to clean the muffler because it still made it smoke there was so much oil in it lol
Hey David, The clutch plates were stuck from sitting.... I way over tightened the clutch cable so that it was completely in the disengage position, I rode it around, up and down hill, hard acceleration, and it came free... I re adjusted it and all is good!!! Last honda redneck rebuild I did, I basically did the same thing, hone job and rering... Engine started right up, no more smoke... Good job on the timing!!! hey harvey ...have you or anyone you know of ever put a 200sx motor in one of these first gen 200x's ...i've heard of them going in a 86 or 87 200x but not an 83... i've been gathering up parts for years to build one ..and thats what i have for an engine ..i can weld and used to do a bit of body work so i'm used to shade tree fabricating but i was just wondering if ya had any tips

I mean absolute junk and cosmetic wrecks for $500+ in need of 100hrs worth of work and in need of $500+ in parts and they are selling fast!! I need an 1984 Honda ATC 110 engine I've got a all original garage kept unit looks like new but the valve got stuck and ruined the engine
