    I'm glad I took y'alls advice to get comprehensive insurance - 2 months into my new bike and someone tried to steal it, damaged the frame and everything. Total bill came out to $3,200. I paid a $100 deductible, and my cost for an entire year of the policy was about $550 - that saved me $2,500. So in other words, be smart and save yourself a whole lotta money because I would've been so mad if I had to swallow that repair bill

    For me it’s the 919. They’re just so comfortable and reliable. I’ve had my 06 for 6 years now and it’s just a good bike and very fun. I’m the second owner and I’ve even been on the back seat for many of the 7,000 miles it had on it before I bought it off dad. It just has a special place in my heart since I’ve been on the machine from such a young age. Mine is bone stock and beautiful, it’s about as perfect as a bike from 2006 can be. The bikes with full fairings and extremely aggressive riding positions aren’t really practical for me. I’m 6’2” 205lbs so Spite probably knows what I’m talking about lol excellent video as always!

      how comfy you are on a sports bike depends a lot on how big you are......lol i'm 5'6 and the ZX's that taller people (and not much taller at that) are folded up like a pocketknife on is super comfortable for me for long distance.....the GSXR's tend to have a massive wide seat that stops me from being able to put a foot down without sliding half off the seat

    Damn insurance is crazy in America! My 2004 636 with full coverage here in England, was £150, for the year (that's about $200) - side note, I ride mine for upto 8-10 hours a day on long rides, but yeah, I do a lot of stretches and stuff. And, if you have even a slightly injured thigh, the zx6 let's you know, and kicks your ass

    • @FlashedNinja
      @FlashedNinja 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      '21 636 here Not sure if it's the same but It's all based on geography, age, background history, general history of the bike itself on how other people who own the same model you use, average cost of repairs either from minor damage to totalled and other factors. So yeah over here we're all dangerous to ourselves and others lol. Which is why we pay high insurance, I'm probably a bit on the low end but still more paying on average US $350-$380 a year 😅

    • @waterpanda222
      @waterpanda222 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I feel like there’s no way you have full coverage for that little, only liability. The valuation on a rideable 04 636 is still well above most entry level bikes. Insurance companies wouldn’t be able to stay afloat covering liability and the bike itself for so little. People would just dump their bike when repairs are needed and basically get a $5k check for a few $200 payments.

    • @dennisclark9544
      @dennisclark9544 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waterpanda222 insurance for bikes is just that cheap here. I've had ducatis insured for similar prices. I have been riding for 11 years though, and have 8 years of no claims on my record, with each year giving a discount, dunno if you do that over there? My other bike, my 1994 zxr400, is £75 for the year. The next tier down, third party with fire and theft, would make the zxr about 50, and the 636 was just over £100 for that level. If you havent ridden on the street like I can extrapolate from your comment I would suggest a 300. So maybe the KTM Duke 390, BMW 310 R something like that, I guess if you really have ridden dirtbikes you can ride but trust me it takes a couple months at least to "learn" to ride in traffic.
      You can still sell it after a year when you put some miles on it, I was hit by a drunk driver and I could have prevented it looking back, just take your time.
      You are 15 take the year to perfect your street riding and to learn how to see when another driver is acting strange.
      I know in the US 300 are seen as small but again stay alive and go fast later on.
      In Europe many many 16 year olds die on 125ccm just because they underestimate the stupidity of daily traffic.

      As a 19 year old who's never riden until afew months ago, you'll be perfectly fine on a 650. I bought my 400 in June, love how efficent and flickable it is, but definitely lacking power after 60 mph. You can pass for sure, taken it to 110. But it takes a while to get there. 650s are perfectly adequate if you have any experience

    That speed triple is amazing looking and you will be king squid if you pull up om that. I think for about half the $$$ and probably less than half of luxury, the MT-09 is a great street squid motorcycle if you want a triple. Triples give you a great balance of torque and HP and that's what you want on the street. I'm also a biased MT-09 owner so, there's that.

I ended up landing on an '05 Suzuki Sport Touring Katana 600 and only pay less than $40/month for it. None of the bells and whistles I wanted, but also less shit to break or worry about as I learn. I figure I'll sit on it for a year or two until the time is right to get a newer bike. I really wanted the 2023 CFMoto 450SS but the numbers just weren't in the cards right now. It would have been like a couple hundred bucks per month between the payment and the insurance.

    Surprised they didn't throw the GSX-S1000 into the mashup since Spite compared it to the K6 Gixxer recently. Comfortable ergos of the Hornet, modernised K5-K8 Gixxer full liter engine that still has cable-actuated throttle, traction control, surprisingly good gas mileage, and used ones can be had in the $7 -10k range. Insurance? Could be be better, could be worse.
