I got the low tier one with an i5 and 8gb of RAM without the SSD and it is awesome. It's fast and I run The Witcher 3, Far Cry Primal, GTA V and Battlefield 1 on Ultra on 60+ fps so I can only imagine what the high end one is like.
I have this same laptop and believe me , the display in normal use scenarios looks good and viewing angles are awesome....Dont worry about the trackpad too, eventually you get used to it and overall the laptop's awesome! I dual boot linux AND windows 10 on it. Never seen more than 3 sec boot times , even when it didnt have an ssd ( my config was different than one in video)

Actually from all the reviews i get that apart from dell all other brands have same quality screen and now decision comes to which brand you like the most and for Dell kRexx I said 4k IPS panel or swapping TN panel with IPS, first read the post carefully before giving your opinion, neither i am going to put myself with TN panel. I also don't like the too much gaming look, for the look HP omen wins for me. In my region HP Omen 4k is not released yet but one came is with 1050Ti and from all reviews I think Omen might be the one for me but I'll wait little more to see if HP omen 4k version comes some time later.
Ok I got this computer about 5 months ago and around 2months ago I saw that my W and S keys had a littler crack on them. They got bigger overtime and now the keys are both cracked in half, and they fell off. Has anyone else had this problem?

I just got this laptop, I like it quite a bit. The keyboard, sound, matte feel, graphics performance and noise/cooling are all really nice. It is well built, not too heavy, the IPS screen is better than other gaming laptops at this price point...it is crisp and great viewing angles. Could be more bright but the anti glare is great. I was able to see great in a car but not good if I'm outside in the sun (which usually sucks). At 999 for the fully upgrade option now that retailers are charging I think this is the best 15 inch gaming laptop at the sub 1000 price without question.
If I buy a version with just an M.2 drive in it, Would the other Harddrive Bay still be empty so that I can install another harddrive in the future? (Is the SATA port still left in place as well?)
I m using this laptop for last 10months and overall performance is still the great. I have connected this laptop with dual monitors and use about 10-12 hours a day. But suprise to me is it work great with Zero lags. If any coder or designer here I recommend this laptop to them. Sorry I m not a gamer

Bought this for video encoding whilst on the move, better option than sending multiple gb files via 4g to my desktop for remote encoding, ultimately saving time and money. First thing I did was upgrade to a faster ssd drive, so far so good. Will it last as long as even cheaper laptops from 15 years ago? No chance, because demands are much greater today, so expect it to crash and burn within 3 years if you are a heavy gamer etc
I have this laptop and around 4months into getting it my keyboard started facing a problem where some keys don't register but when I click them enough they register after like 10-20 clicks. so I took it back to get it fixed and they told me that it was a manufacturing problem with the keyboard so it took them 1 month to get it fixed and after they fixed it I used it for 1 month and then the problem happened again. I decided to get an external keyboard instead of wasting another month for it to get fixed. Now I can never get the buttons to register no matter how many times I try. i7 7700HQ, 1050Ti 4Gb, 16Gb ram, 2TB HDD, 256Gb SSD. Every time I'm playing on it and the electricity goes and comes back I start thermal throttling (my fans are on max settings) but the laptop isn't hot it's a little warm but not hot at all. Also it is very hard to get a stable 60 FPS on some games. Any advice on how to fix the keyboard or the thermal throttling?

lenovo for me. before i bough the y520 i played games on my y50-70 and it still running great since i bough it back in like 2014 around 3 years ago. Although i have dropped it multiple times and damaged on the parts where made of plastic but aluminium is holding great but importantly the laptop never failed once. i bough the y520 just because gtx 860m is outdated..
I have the Lenovo and I really like it. The screen is not bad at all. As both laptops have the same hardware you cannot make a big mistake with either of them. The Acer is too thick to me.

Well it turns out every brand has screwed with the display now one thing remain is Dell 7567 4k pannel or buying TN one and change the LCD to ips.

they are not better, for the people that this is marketed for, the only difference between them is the design, in which Lenovo is way better. Why would anyone who wants to edit photos buy a GAMING laptop?

The other thing ... I'm living in the EU and on the EU website of lenovo says each models of Y520 have GTX 1050M 4GB. Is that a mistake by the Lenovo or the EU models are released with 1050 only? Do you know something about it because I could not find anything about it.
