Great video, learned a lot with it! Another aspect I like to investigate is that a lot of inside cover artworks differ from North America and Europe, one example being Octopath Traveler. Also, some games that in America don't have inside artwork do have it in Europe, some Ubisoft published games being an example.
Very informative, Emily! Had no idea there were so many variants! Time to dig through my games and see which ones I have! Thanks for another great video!
Fantastic video! You had me checking my shelves looking at my Nintendo stuff to see what print run it was! All of mine are first print except for Triangle Strategy and Torna - they were second! Love this!
The Bayo 3 speial edition came with 3 unique black spine game covers for Bayo 1, 2 and 3. i thought that was interesting as they look amazing and stand out from the all red shelf
Wow! I've got a lot of Switch physical versions but until now I had no idea how to tell a first edition from a reprint. You've created a fabulous reference for me and others so thank you!
Something I noticed with my playasia release of Final Fantasy 9 is how not only is the font different from North America type font but the letters are spaced out different from other playasia switch games I have.
Great video as always! I too have many different alternative covers especially since I’m always impatient and get the Asian variant first and then purchase the ESRB. Always a pleasure to watch!
Fun video! The way you hyper focus on a specific topic in your more recent videos kinda reminds me of Scott the Woz's content, only way more down to earth, haha
I recently found your channel and I must say you have so much knowledge of the system! I started collecting for the switch and in the past 6 months the reprints have really helped amass a larger collection with sites like VGP and PNP!! This is already starting to become my favorite channel and I'm looking forward to the next video drop! Also it would be cool to invite your brother for a future video and maybe show his collection haha
Oh thank you so much! And haha my brother is super asocial and would probably never agree to come on (he's also a minimalist and never keeps his games for long, so he doesn't have much of a physical collection 😅)
Very detailed video. First time I see someone approach about cartridge updates. My Animal Crossing is version 1.8.0a losing 4gb of Updates from 2.0.0 and the Mario package which always bothered me. But nothing beats Minecraft where the new cartridge is never updated, losing all the content released in the last 5 years, becoming hostage to poorly planned updates and losing even the icon that could be preserved. Sad😞. I have no doubt that we are living the end of physical copies and even Nintendo can migrate to fully Digital.
I stumbled upon your channel by chance and i’ve been impressed by every video i’ve watch so far! your taste in games is great, and you always cover interesting topics. keep it up!
One thing you missed: Japan & Asia have slightly different cases from US/EU. The side where you open the case is a smooth curve from end to end for JP/Asia and US/EU cases have more of a traditional hard lip.
@@orbalology of course! I had no idea the print run was out in the open for the Nintendo published titles. I never really cared about the print run of most of my games but it still was interesting to comb through and see which ones had been printed many times or just once when I picked up my copy
I've just discovered your channel with this video today. I'll definitely check out your other videos. I didn't know about the 000-1-2 codes, thanks for teaching me that. Since you own some european games, there is something you maybe didn't notice. Like the pined comment said, the green triangle on the spine means it's a british version. On the bottom right of the back, you'll find the code UKV, which stands for United Kingdom Version. I'm from Switzerland. Most of my games have a purple triangle and the code GFI for German French Italian. Some others have a pink triangle with the code FRA for France and some others have an indigo triangle with the code GER for Germany (which also use the german USK rating instead of PEGI). Another interesting fact. The european cover of Breath of the Wild looks completely different from the american one. Quite surprising since it's the only Switch game (in my knowledge) that doesn't share the same cover for PAL and US versions.
Thanks for clarifying some of the PAL differences! I want to say there are a few other switch releases that have different regional covers between NA and Europe but from more indie titles that were released by different publishers. Naturally I can't think of an example at the top of my head though 😅
Incredibly thorough video, learned a lot from it. I can almost feel the anxiety racheting up in your viewers as you flashed that version of the Xenoblade DE with the alternate cover XD . You prob know this, but BotW also has also a variant locked behind the Master/Special edition.
I appreciate the info! I've been collecting Switch games since 2017 (281 physical games) and I have never noticed (or even knew how to check) if my games are 1st, 2nd, or 3rd print run, ect. I buy most 1st party Nintendo games day 1, so I'm assuming most of my Nintendo published games are 1st print. Games I missed out on (YS 8, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna) I purchased European copies. I most likely still won't pay attention lol, but it's good to know anyway 😌. Great video!
Our collections are SO similar ❤️ I'm so glad I found your channel, big fan! I managed to get the special edition of YS 8 and the map is so nice, one of my favourite items ☺️
Oh nice! The Ys VIII map looks so nice & I'm a bit sad that I missed out on it. Though I recently got the PS5 collector's edition in and I feel like it sort of made up for that oversight lol
I primarily collect for the ps4, and certain titles I will opt to grab on switch. Ps4 total: 252 physical (5-10 more pending arrival) Switch total: 50 (1 pending arrival) I do have 180 on x360, and roughly 50 on xb1- which I don't actively collect for, but will buy possibly on price discrepancy, sales, or availability. I've also randomly started buying the hori split pad pro variants. Currently, I have the red, gray, mega man 2, and pokemon legends arceus sets. The last few months i've been also picking up large quality hardcover guides and supplemental readings. Zelda botw, dark souls remastered (pricey), horizon forbidden west, elden ring vol 1 (pending vol 2 arrival), octopath traveller complete guide, and the lore of god of war. Future press and dark horse publications make awesome books. As for little differences between regions, I like how the pal versions of ps4 games have the little foil playstation strip just below the center. Somehow, it just makes me feel like it was packaged with care.
Very VERY interesting topic as a collector. Great Job 😀 You bring such details that few respectable channels shed the lights on, maybe next time you can do a video about complete on cart games that are extremely worthy as physical games collector and games that miss huge content or critical patches that makes the release almost meaningless to collect.
Thanks! Oh boy, a complete on the cart games may be a bit tricky to make a video about but I'll see if I can find a resource somewhere to cite & refer to.
this has nothing to do w/ the switch, but one variant example I find really cool is how some of the PAL discs of Viewtiful Joe for gamecube are pink while others are yellow, but there's no actual differences in the games themselves
A wonderfully informative video, you have me wanting to go through some of my Switch games to see which print runs I have now. It's so sad when I open up a Switch case and see nothingness. Just a pure white depressing void which makes the lack of manuals even more upsetting. One of the recent cover art mysteries that took me by storm was Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness on the Gamecube. When I still had the game complete back when I got it, I could've sworn it was holographic. It was destroyed so I had the disc alone for awhile. I saw my friends copy of the game and his cover art wasn't holographic. Which threw me in for a loop, so I did some digging and found that majority of the cover arts were indeed holographic and some weren't. There were also not for resale versions which I'm guessing were bundled with a Platinum Gamecube and also ones that had the "Best Seller" label on them which tended to not be holo. A very interesting case solved. Great video as always Orbalology!
I agree about blank interiors & lack of manuals that's rampant nowadays :( And that's interesting about the Gamecube games! I feel like the deeper we dive into the nuances of collecting the more weird details we tend to find haha.
I’ve been buying Switch games for my daughter and there’s several she hasn’t opened yet. I buy games that she’ll eventually enjoy later on (she’s 11) but I look for the variant covers from pack in’s because they’re usually cheaper since the seller likely already has the game and let’s it go for a bit under general selling price and because these are technically rarer. Some are the exact same but will say Not For Resale and I grab those too. I buy digital for my Switch but want her to grow up with a physical collection like I did so some games I end up buying twice 😅
Oh nice, I don't think I've come across many Not For Resale Switch games but they make interesting additions to the collection! I hope your daughter appreciates your efforts :)
Hey Emily! Thanks for teaching us the differences in covers for Switch games! Now I want to go through my collection and see if I own any first print games. Also, I've been playing the heck out of Immortals Fenyx Rising on my Switch and I'm loving it!
My pleasure Olivia! And yay! I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying it - I've heard really good things about it & I'm always a sucker for games based off of mythology haha.
I see you previous video and I really like your collection of rpgs and give me some good ideas of games to search. Thx, you have a new fan from Colombia.
Loved this video, i like all this stuff, i found out some lower quality prints on labels, and older games/prints had the nintendo seal of quality golden, nowadays is just a printed yellowish logo not a golden shiny logo like before, this applies for reprints, and new games.
Recently discovered your channel. Great content, this was really informative. I’m going to go through my switch collection to see what editions I have. Also you have excellent taste in games!! I love the Trails series and JRPGs! Keep up the great work!
Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana at 4:19 is a beautiful game and I highly recommend that one alonf with all the others Ys games.. I have it on PS4. Dragon Quest XI also is a good recommendation. 👍 Thx for the vid
Thanks so much for the education! I say the same thing when defending why I pick up the "Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/ Players choice" versions of games. Its the most updated version of the game there is. So all my PS1, PS2, Original Xbox, Xbox 360, etc. games will likely have the "updated" version on the greatest hits copies. It makes me smile when I see the greatest hits versions sell for cheaper than "black label". Its good to be able to understand the differences between the different print runs on the Switch though. So thank you very much! Really enjoyed the video and just got introduced to your content with this. Very positive start! Sub from me :)
Thanks, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Discovering this has made me reconsider getting the PlayStation greatest hits versions too. Though I will miss my shelf continuity 😅
@@orbalology if you want to see how i solved that problem, check out my incredibly outdated tour on my channel. i've seperated the greatest hits and long boxes from the black labels. it really does make the presentation look quite a bit better :)
Great content, you have new subscriber from Germany 👍I am a big Nintendo, Sega , Xbox, ps fan ( and have a new laptop too) , and I watch a lot gaming TH-camr. They have cool videos, but of this cover art , I only saw 2,3 videos this year. Wish you and all people who love video games a nice weekend 👍
Thanks for the video! Lots of cover variants with the Switch. I remember waiting for the regular spine revision before picking up Super Bomberman R. I chose the Asian release of Katamari Damacy which has interior art, unlike the US release. Because the US physical release of Sushi Striker has no option for japanese voices, I picked up the japanese release. Etc etc.
Oh my god you just solved a "mystery" I've wondered about. In all my non-japan-imported switch games, ALL the spines are left aligned, EXCEPT for super mario odyssey. I was wondering how nintendo could do this, and it's been bugging me ever since. But now thanks to you, I find out that, turns out canadian amazon shipped me a european version instead of a north american version, and THAT'S why this game is not left aligned. Now I really want to get another copy just to fix this at some point lmao
I feel this with a few games. I initially bought a few of my European versions because I thought the NA editions were out of print and/or was sent the wrong region version by a 3rd party seller on amazon or ebay. The text alignment differences stick out like a sore thumb at times and I try not to think too much about it but I have a feeling I'll need to replace at least Atelier Ryza at some point.
Thanks for the video, I kept staring at your World Travel book. Did you read Anthony Bourdain "World Travel"? If so, did you like it? Variant copies of games drives my OCD nuts. Sometimes, I might collect two copies of games, which could result in four copies of the same game (2 collector's editions, 2 retail copies). This is the case with Bayonetta 3, which has different inside art for the Trinity Masquerade edition vs. regular retail edition.
I actually haven't read that & have heard mixed things actually 😅 And oh no! I try my best to choose my favorite variant cover whenever possible but it's often hard to predict how available some versions end up being if you wait too long.
Very infromative video Emily. About Switch's World Editions. In my case the only WE game that I have is Bayonetta 2 (first print according to your video xd). This version didn't include Bayonetta 1 code so the front cover doesn't have the huge label printed. Recently I got physical Bayonetta 1 so now the three games have clean front cover. Luckily on Switch games the World Edition label now is on the back of the case so it doesn't bother like the 3DS ones.
Oh I didn't realize that the MDE/World Edition for Bayonetta 2 didn't come with the 1st game code. I guess that makes sense since the World Editions were originally for regions that didn't have access to the eshop (in the 3DS era - not really sure how it is for the Switch these days but maybe because of the ease to change regions it isn't an issue). I did forget to talk about the Switch World Editions in this video haha, maybe because you don't see them in circulation in the west at the moment. But I'm also glad they don't have an ugly emblem obscuring the front cover art like they did for the 3DS.
@@orbalology I got a world edition of astral chain from gamestop here in the US. I think maybe for last prints of games here we might get some world editions.

It's been interesting to see what games get reprints and for how long on Switch (example being XC2). I just ordered Trails from Zero and I'm not seeing many copies online in general. Im already seeing resellers selling copies for $10 or more than retail.
Yeah the Falcom games tend to be very popular & seem to go out of print relatively quickly. But that said I think they're more likely to be part of NIS's restock sale too because of the demand, but we'll see what NIS does for their next one.
Thank! Iv been collecting for years and didn’t know all this! I often worry about updates an wondering if I should break all the seals on my games and update them.
Hmm, I'm not quite sure how I'd approach that tbh. I feel like collecting in general can be boiled down to the same mechanisms. But I'm no phycologist 😅
There are cases too, when subsequent prints of games become censored. Pocky and Rocky, for example, on the first print (Japanese version) has Pocky drawn as obvious woman.. subsequent prints though, her outfit has grown to cover any form of the female form.
I have a little bit of trivia for you! The MEXICAN cover variants of games have a game rating equal to the ESRB and it came like a year ago or so, these copies feature different MEXICAN ratings in the cover art however inside they include an ESRB cartridge
Yup, I've noticed that the non-numbered games that LRG initially sold on their website are now available on their Amazon storefront. It's nice to have a few of the games they distributed not completely out of print.
Crazy my only non first print run games I own that are Nintendo published is Smash Bros and I swear I got that maybe a month after launch and some Nintendo games like Xenoblade 3, Bayonetta 3 I got a year later and are still sealed and are first print runs. I guess Smash Bros sold so many copies that first month that by the time I got to getting mine it was already on 2nd print lol. Games like Xenoblade 3 and Bayonetta 3 just didn’t sell that well and probably only had one print run or where I bought those 2 from just didn’t sell theirs
Surprised I didn’t get my switch still 3 years in maybe 4 . Of the Nintendo published games it’s probably 50-60 of my 220 or so games. Never was aware of this. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze which was one of the first ones I bought. Second print . Opposing I just got captain toad new from Best Buy online and still first print. I’m actually expecting my final shelf to look at Mario and Zelda games mostly to all be first print as I assume they produced those in excessive amounts. Cool little fyi though thanks.
Went on a run last shelf. Mario tennis I’m shocked it WAS the first one I bought with odyssey Full second print collection Smash Bros ultimate Mario tennis Donkey Kong TF Hyrule warriors AOC Mario Kart 8 Octopath Traveller
One of the nice things about the Atelier games is that they're for the most part self contained. So you can try out one of may the newer entries to see how they are (maybe on sale too) before committing to the older entries that are a little harder to find/more expensive if you go with the Trilogy pack route.
Those games in the 'inside cover' section are pretty popular titles to have such bland interiors. Maybe they should take a note from textbook interior's by adding a line that says "This game belongs to ______" or an empty chart to keep track of ownership details, like some sort of primitive block chain algorithm. Knowing how Nintendo goes above and beyond to prevent piracy of their games, and that their consoles lack the necessary power to perform competitively in the streaming sector, I could see them one day announcing a "Club Nintendo Digital Game Trading Program'', What do you think?

Switch physical collector here, I love the "low-print" releases mainly... The physical indie releases!
Thanks for the info.
My pleasure, and the indie release packages are really nice! A lot of the limited distribution companies make nice products :)
My favorite Nintendo covers are the ones for the 3DS. It always reminded me of having my music cassette collection. And the multi disc PS1 games
I really like the 3DS covers too, and it helps that they have interesting spine to show on the shelf 😂
Fantastic video! You had me checking my shelves looking at my Nintendo stuff to see what print run it was! All of mine are first print except for Triangle Strategy and Torna - they were second! Love this!
Thank you! I also didn't realize Triangle Strategy was already into it's 2nd cover revision, very interesting!
The Bayo 3 speial edition came with 3 unique black spine game covers for Bayo 1, 2 and 3. i thought that was interesting as they look amazing and stand out from the all red shelf
I thought the three covers was a nice touch in the limited edition! They're great display pieces!
Wow! I've got a lot of Switch physical versions but until now I had no idea how to tell a first edition from a reprint. You've created a fabulous reference for me and others so thank you!
My pleasure! 😄
Learned some new things I never even thought I wanted to know about first print run games. Keep up the content. Great video
Thank you!! Glad to hear I was able to share something new 😄
Playing through 13 Sentinels right now and it's absolutely incredible, blowing my mind!
13 Sentinels is really great! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it :)
You have me checking all my games now.
Haha I did the same thing after I learned a few of these things 😂
Thanks for this! Never knew those details about the spine alignment or the game version codes on the cart.
My pleasure! 😄
Something I noticed with my playasia release of Final Fantasy 9 is how not only is the font different from North America type font but the letters are spaced out different from other playasia switch games I have.
I wasn't expecting to learn so much. Thank you for taking the time to really explain things.
My pleasure! I'm glad to hear this video was informative for you :)
Fun subject that I've never seen anyone do before, very entertaining
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed! :)
All interesting stuff, good to know. Thanks :)
Great video as always! I too have many different alternative covers especially since I’m always impatient and get the Asian variant first and then purchase the ESRB. Always a pleasure to watch!
Thanks Alie! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed watching 😊
I know you. #gamestop it's a family affair
Interesting video, thanks! I’ve been collecting for Switch but don’t know much.
Fun video! The way you hyper focus on a specific topic in your more recent videos kinda reminds me of Scott the Woz's content, only way more down to earth, haha
Oh wow, thanks! I wish I had at least a small fraction of Scott the Woz's delivery and wit 😂
Great video! fun AND instructional! I was definitely pulling games off my shelf while i was watching
Thanks! After learning a few of these things I had to inspect my collection as well 😂
Love the kind of topics you focus on. Interesting content. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! 😊
This was a greatly informative video and these details are super interesting, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
My pleasure - glad to hear you found these interesting! :)
Wow I had no idea these differences existed... Really awesome to see. Great video, very informative... New subscriber!!!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed these little details too 😄
I've been liking your content, always covering cool games & stuff! Keep it coming 😊
Thank you so much! 😄
This was super interesting and informative! Thanks for the video Emily 😄
My pleasure! I'm glad to hear you found these details interesting too :)
I stumbled upon your channel by chance and i’ve been impressed by every video i’ve watch so far! your taste in games is great, and you always cover interesting topics. keep it up!
Thank you so much 😊
One thing you missed: Japan & Asia have slightly different cases from US/EU. The side where you open the case is a smooth curve from end to end for JP/Asia and US/EU cases have more of a traditional hard lip.
Cool topic! Always very interesting to learn more about these things!
Thanks! Glad to hear you found these details interesting :)
I loved this video! Can't wait to see what else you create
Thank you, hope you enjoy the next one 😊
Incredibly thorough video, learned a lot from it. I can almost feel the anxiety racheting up in your viewers as you flashed that version of the Xenoblade DE with the alternate cover XD . You prob know this, but BotW also has also a variant locked behind the Master/Special edition.
Thanks! And haha yeah the Nintendo Collector's editions that came with the standard cases like BotW have that nice back cover art feature :)
Thank you! Yup, some of these things are interesting to know but may not make much of a difference in how we collect haha.
Wow awesome video, very informative. Thank you for doing all the research and providing it to us.
My pleasure! 😊
I primarily collect for the ps4, and certain titles I will opt to grab on switch.
Ps4 total: 252 physical (5-10 more pending arrival)
Switch total: 50 (1 pending arrival)
I do have 180 on x360, and roughly 50 on xb1- which I don't actively collect for, but will buy possibly on price discrepancy, sales, or availability.
Oh that's cool! I didn't realize the PAL region PS4 games had foiling but it sounds like a really nice extra touch.
My copy of Zelda is definitely a first print run since I picked it up on release day several weeks before I even got a switch.
Very VERY interesting topic as a collector. Great Job 😀
You bring such details that few respectable channels shed the lights on, maybe next time you can do a video about complete on cart games that are extremely worthy as physical games collector and games that miss huge content or critical patches that makes the release almost meaningless to collect.
Thanks! Oh boy, a complete on the cart games may be a bit tricky to make a video about but I'll see if I can find a resource somewhere to cite & refer to.
Thank you for the knowledge 🙏 and glad to see that brigandine is in your collection 😁
Yes! I recently got that in from a PlayAsia order from a month or so ago :)
@@orbalology I know that limited run did also published the game but now it's like 200-400$ on ebay
@@snowstorm9054 Oof yeah, it's nice that there are other regional options with English available to get around that.
this has nothing to do w/ the switch, but one variant example I find really cool is how some of the PAL discs of Viewtiful Joe for gamecube are pink while others are yellow, but there's no actual differences in the games themselves
Oh that is interesting! Thanks for sharing :)
This is such an interesting topic. I am going through my games now
Yeah it was interesting when I learned a lot of these things too. I had to inspect my collection a little closer too haha
Pretty good info. Thanks for sharing.
Fun fact: I got a physical copy of FFXII from France and the internal cover spine is white! It's the only white cover spine I've ever seen!
Oh that's really cool, I don't think I've seen a white spine either. Thanks for sharing :)
I agree about blank interiors & lack of manuals that's rampant nowadays :(
And that's interesting about the Gamecube games! I feel like the deeper we dive into the nuances of collecting the more weird details we tend to find haha.
I have 130 physical Switch games. This is a great video and I appreciate the info. 😎
My pleasure! Glad you found it interesting :)
This was super informative thank you so much!
My pleasure! ☺️
Thanks! Glad to hear the videos have offered some good recommendations for you.
Loved this video, i like all this stuff, i found out some lower quality prints on labels, and older games/prints had the nintendo seal of quality golden, nowadays is just a printed yellowish logo not a golden shiny logo like before, this applies for reprints, and new games.
Oh I hadn't noticed that about the Nintendo seals - very interesting!
Recently discovered your channel. Great content, this was really informative. I’m going to go through my switch collection to see what editions I have. Also you have excellent taste in games!! I love the Trails series and JRPGs! Keep up the great work!
Aww thank you! And I'm glad to hear you discovered something new :)
Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana at 4:19 is a beautiful game and I highly recommend that one alonf with all the others Ys games.. I have it on PS4. Dragon Quest XI also is a good recommendation. 👍 Thx for the vid
wow, this was informative! the more i learn about collecting, the less i know
Glad you discovered some new things in this vid! And I agree, the further you dive into the collecting rabbithole the more you tend to uncover 😂
i learned something new today, thank you. Also it was very informative. =]
Glad to hear you found this informative :)
Thanks for info. I love reversable cover art.
My pleasure! It's always a nice touch when they give the option for a reversible cover!
Great information. I just recently learned about the 0000 bar code.
Thanks! :)
Thank you, hope you are having a great weekend as well :)
Etc etc.
Oh those are some cool variant examples, thanks for sharing!
@@orbalology One odd example is Gigantic Army. Only one EU cart type exists, but it was sold in 3 variant covers for each region (Asia, EU, US).
Really Informative. You should have 50k subscribers at least!
Oh thank you! 😄
Hopefully Nintendo will continue to support physical copy of games for there next gen consoles. I miss the old school days of getting printed manuals.
I really hope they will too, as well as stick to game cartridges and don't move to discs. I really miss manuals too.
Cool, XD I need to check all my nintendo games now on switch too see what is first print or not haha
My Miitopia bar code are all zeros, but above ends in A And it's a V3 release. So weird.
That's the part I dread when thinking about the future of physical preservation. Will the updates be available after digital stores close up?
Oof yeah it's something I worry about it. Which is partly why I try not to buy games that need a Day 1 patch or internet connection in order to play.
You're the only YTer that address these nuances that affect my purchases as well (that others overlook). Great vid.
Do you frequent r/nscollectors or r/gamecollecting ?
I haven't looked too much on those subreddits tbh. I think a few times in my early collecting journey but I haven't visited them in a long time 😅
@@orbalology oh wow super interesting how you're familiar with all of that then! Is there another community you can lead me to along our line of collecting?
@@Vilehand I've picked up most things from random videos & twitter tbh 😅 Or if I notice something strange I go and do deep research that lead to old forums and places like that lol
Wow. Earned a sub. Great content.
Thank you! :)
Out of curiosity, what percentage of your gaming library do you think you've played so far?
Thank! Iv been collecting for years and didn’t know all this! I often worry about updates an wondering if I should break all the seals on my games and update them.
I think it'll be awhile before the Switch eshop closes, so you have more time to decide.
Good thoughtful channel... How about a video with regards to the phycology of video game collecting..?
Hmm, I'm not quite sure how I'd approach that tbh. I feel like collecting in general can be boiled down to the same mechanisms. But I'm no phycologist 😅
There are cases too, when subsequent prints of games become censored.
Pocky and Rocky, for example, on the first print (Japanese version) has Pocky drawn as obvious woman.. subsequent prints though, her outfit has grown to cover any form of the female form.
Oh interesting! I'm surprised they censored the subsequent Japanese prints, that's pretty uncommon for Japan!
I have a little bit of trivia for you! The MEXICAN cover variants of games have a game rating equal to the ESRB and it came like a year ago or so, these copies feature different MEXICAN ratings in the cover art however inside they include an ESRB cartridge
Oh that's interesting! Thanks for sharing 😄 Do most games released out West nowadays get a Mexican variant? Or is it just for a few select titles?
Well explained
LRG also sells certain games on Amazon.
Great vid. I love the Switch. Hopefully Nintendo next console will be another hybird but with more power.
I really hope so too! Would be great if it's backwards compatible as well.
@@orbalology yes! Most Nintendo consoles and handhelds have always been backwards compatible. Hope next Nintendo console can play all Switch games
There a few collectible cover for example the rare and expensive splatoon manga variant
Yeah I had someone point out store exclusive pre-order covers too for some games which are neat!
@@orbalology it was only available through a magazine and just the case
My copy of rayman legends does have art on the inside
This must be another example of regional differences!
Great video!!
Thank you! 😄
Did you ever get Trails From Zero for the Switch?
Yup, it eventually made it's way to me lol
Surprised I didn’t get my switch still 3 years in maybe 4 . Of the Nintendo published games it’s probably 50-60 of my 220 or so games. Never was aware of this. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze which was one of the first ones I bought. Second print . Opposing I just got captain toad new from Best Buy online and still first print. I’m actually expecting my final shelf to look at Mario and Zelda games mostly to all be first print as I assume they produced those in excessive amounts.
Cool little fyi though thanks.
Went on a run last shelf. Mario tennis I’m shocked it WAS the first one I bought with odyssey
Full second print collection
Smash Bros ultimate
Mario tennis
Donkey Kong TF
Hyrule warriors AOC
Mario Kart 8
Octopath Traveller
Wow!
Atelier games are always so expensive. I wanted to try them but not at the $100 price marks considering there are so many of them
One of the nice things about the Atelier games is that they're for the most part self contained.
Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by a Digital Games Trading Program. I don't follow much of the game streaming realm so I have no idea tbh 😅
