Stella Glow is SUPER bizarre and kind of otaku-core, but VERY fun and rewarding! Excited for you to try it! I especially love its character designs. I'm hearing about lots of folks rediscovering and discovering for the first time the 3ds jrpg library and I LOVE hearing about it! I feel the 3ds has a very above average jrpg library and the convenience of playing it and the huge volume of games on the console makes it one that I think we'll all be enjoying for years. Enjoy! 💜
@aaronpischke5019 - I loved Stella Glow though I didn't find it bizarre at all. Maybe because I'm so used to JRPGs that they seem normal. I don't care for many of the tropes (like harem themes) but if its well done like Stella Glow it works. I think the older I get, the more I like unique stories and find myself getting impatient with typical themes so they have to be well crafted for me to get through them. You are right that the 3DS has a great library!

I recently came across your channel, by YT recommendation, and what has gotten my attention most is you sharing and relating to your own personal experiences in video games. I also like that as a woman you’re not relying on sexuality for attention or clickbait. I also think using a gaming collection as a background is an overdone flex. Channels such as Gamesack prove it’s not a necessary trope. Showing your collection shortly now and then as it pertains to the subject matter or context of the video is more humble IMO and Let’s you be more creative and original. I could keep going, but you keep doing you and don’t try to be like other channels that are mostly copying the same gimmicks of others. I wish for you lots of luck in this endeavor.

Since you mentioned an interest in Asian music, I would recommend Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythm Festival. Plenty of J-pop on there, and lots of control options to play - buttons, handheld touchscreen, joy cons as “air drum sticks” and the Hori drum controller. There’s even an RPG you can import! The Taiko games are some of my favorites on Switch.

You are very nice and authentic and the topics you take are very interesting. About the hidden gems of Switch I agree 100% that the NIS "Labyrinth of" games. They're taking the path of what happened at the time with the Etrian Odyssey games on the DS. In addition, it is the closest thing we have to that saga at the moment. I've a review I did for Trails in the Sky, Second Chapter! I am currently playing the Third, but it will be some time until I beat it, unfortunately. Personally, in terms of narration for the Legend of Heroes, I'm caught up, besides for the newest arc, and I've yet to play the Crossbell duo-logy, but I do own the first installment (and my collector's edition for the second one is on it's way, too, with Trails into Reverie pre-ordered!). I adore The Legend of Heroes.

(I have mega-untreated ADHD, so I'm shrinking this post down as much as possible. It was about three times as long when I started...) I don't mean to be an OMORI pusher (but I am totally an OMORI pusher) but based on what you said about loving storyline over combat (and OMORI has some great combat mechanics, but the emphasis is on an amazing story, and the game isn't insanely long), I think you might like it. If you ever do play it, I would love to hear what you think of it! Fire Emblem: Three Houses I loved (LOL my bank account would be a little higher if you hadn't made that great video on Fe!Byleth unboxing, which I played as because as a gay guy, I needed to marry Caspar and Ashe and Fe!Byleth was radiating charisma)... Engage was not quite as good but I really appreciated that outside of Japan, they opened up complete same-sex marriage so I could not only play as my cismale gender identity but also my sexual orientation and end up with Mauvier. RF4 at least threw us gay gamers a bone by letting you switch your character's appearance partway through so you could "fake" same-sex marriage. I was set on Doug but Kiel was too adorable for me to pass up. I never finished Labyrinth of Refrain, but I bought it because of the Etrian Odyssey vibe. I got the Labyrinth of Galleria CE and it is stunning... the fact that there is a board game on a cloth board packed into the box was too hard to pass up! Best "worst" game I enjoyed: Poison Control by NIS on the Switch. One of my best friends recommended it to me. It got terrible reviews and it took me a few days to stop hating it and for it to click... but then it was fantastic and I couldn't put it down. I was going to ask you if you played the Zero Escape series, but literally as I was typing this, you just mentioned the Nonary Games! Luna ending in Virtue's Last Reward = 😭. I watch it whenever I need a good cry. If they're still in your backlog, I can't tell you how incredible the second game is. (First one: good and best played first, last one: okay.) I'd love to hear what you think of them. Fellow grad school person! I bowed out of gaming when I was in early grad school doing an MSc and PhD in math. Like you, I didn't consider myself a very good public speaker at conferences, but I was very good at teaching. I am so glad that this has been great practice for you in terms of conference talks, which are always hard in math because of the background needed. I was going to pursue a postdoc but I was first on the waiting list for funding at the school under the supervisor I wanted, and so it goes: nobody changed their mind, so I just missed that opportunity. It was kind of a relief, as instead, I got offered my dream job in subtropical Chile and Hawaii doing astronomy research and I wanted to escape Canadian winter for so long. (I noticed a Spanish book on your shelf in an earlier video: hablás español?) I finished my PhD just shortly after the 3DS came out and was going from having so little money to finally earning much more than what I was making as a grad student, and that got me from not gaming to gaming again in moderation to now my collector's edition binging. My biggest hurdle in keeping up with my gaming backlog is the constant battle between my love of gaming and my passion for math research, which nobody understands how I find fun. That is awesome that you are in stats and epidemiology! And yes: 3DS is my favourite console, followed by the Switch. You have never mentioned Xbox, for which I am relieved... I'm a Mac OS / Unix.guy and I don't Microsoft. CAT PERSON! 😻😻😻 My black boy kitty got a new box from an Amazon game delivery tonight and he is loving the hell out of it. His fat butt broke the last box. I knew you were going to say Fire Emblem Fates. I so wish I had bought that CE given it's $1000+ on eBay. That was prior to my CE days. It's the Fire Emblem Fates collectors edition. I didn't even really know that it existed until maybe late 2021, when the prices were expensive but less expensive than they are now. IDK if it's something I'll ever get but, maybe if I save little by little for a few years I can. 😂 Congrats on the 7k, I'm looking forward to see where you channel goes in the new year. ^^
The launch of the FE Fates special edition was so poorly done, if I'm remembering correctly it was basically only offered at Gamestop and they didn't get enough copies to fulfil all preorders. I have a feeling we'll be seeing fluctuating prices for 3DS games like we do with every console for the most part. And hey, if Nintendo decides to port or remaster it I'm sure the 3DS version will became much easier to acquire. And thank you! :)
@@orbalology Ahh, I didn't know it was a Gamestop exclusive in the US. That explains a lot... You're definitely right about the prices fluctuating and hopefully it will come down. How much is anyone's guess, but it's definitely something I will keep a close eye on going forward. Thankfully I have both standard editions of the Fates games, as well as the conquest DLC downloaded and backed up to my computer. So even if I never get it, I can still enjoy the full experience regardless. ^^

To touch on something you said regarding streaming games, you said that you are interested but you view your channel as a collecting channel. While I would agree, one thing I like about your channel compared to some other collectors is that while you are collecting, you are curating as you go and talking about why these games interest you and why you picked that game up. Many other channels just read the game title, talk about what it's worth, and then move on to the next. So I think some Let's Plays would coincide with your collecting "philosophy".
Congrats on the channel growth Emily as your channel truly is a gem! Also i don't usually watch Q&A videos however this was both very informative and enjoyable, through and though! I echo a lot of the same sentiments when it comes to why you collect, to your gaming interests (i.e games itself, genre). On a side note i am slowly starting to collect for the Switch but it's extremely daunting mainly due to the price in Canadian and the exorbitant prices for rare games, limited to collectors edition and accessories i want, one being Skyward Sword Joycons go for 160 CAD atm which is insane since retailers don't have them anymore. (Recently picked up a sealed Steelbook double pack version of Chaos Head Noah/Chaos Child VN for 50$ which isn't bad at all) Regardless lol, keep up the amazing work Emily and looking forward to all you have in store for us in 2023 AND that you also have an amazing, safe and stellar year ahead as well! :)
That really is unfortunate how expensive Nintendo Switch games & accessories are in Canada - I know places like PNP Games and VideoGamesPlus offer nice discounts often but their inventory can go out of stock quickly. Not sure if this is a feasible alternative but have you looked into proxy services where you can compile packages from the US and ship to Canada? No idea if that would help cut down the cost (and not be ridden with import fees), but possible something to consider.
@@orbalology I have been keeping my eye on VGP and PNP and i mainly want Bayo 2, XBC 2 and Torna but they're still retail price however it's something i'll have to accept i guess. As for the services you mentioned i have not however i will look into it, thanks Emily! Thankfully a lot of the games i want got reprints or restocks, mainly the exclusives, the rest i can slowly work on though they're becoming rare or low print :/ lol. We'll see!
Oh yeah those games may be difficult to find discounted because those stores are almost the only retailers that have them in stock nowadays. But you may get lucky and be able to snag them during a sale! 🤞

It's been a long time since I last played any co-op games tbh. My brother and dad like to play games but they're in genres that I don't really gravitate towards. But couch co-op can be a lot of fun given the right game with the right people.
I regret selling my original collection... I had a mint CIB copy of Ninja Five O for the GBA that I got in 2010 for $150... I also had CIB copies of Dragon Warrior III & IV, Bucky O Hare, and more. I have since started collecting again, but I doubt i'll ever get any of these games back since they have shot up in price like crazy. The Ninja Five O still stings to this day and I regret selling it.
Have you considered collecting for the Gamecube at one point? That's personally my holy grail, and it was worth the money getting my old games back! Also, I finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as of late, and it was a beautiful story!
No not really, as I mentioned in the video I never had this console growing up and there are a few other consoles I would rather prioritize. While there are a few exclusive GameCube games that I would love to play at some point like FE Path of Radiance at this point I'm just hoping to see them get remastered on another Nintendo system 😅
I actually have both GBA Fire EMblem games, complete in box, which I bought from the store back when they came out, still in great condition. I tried selling them 4 years ago for about 80$ each (or so), wasn't successful at it though. Seeing that they've since nearly doubled in price is absolutely crazy haha.
Im still willing to sell them for that price if you ever want them. I was selling them to fund buying them back in japanese btw so that’s why Im fine with selling them way under market, since even at that price it’s a bit of profit for me haha. Plus knowing it’d go in the hands of a good collector is all I can ask for. Of course if you’d prefer not, no offence taken, dont worry!

lol if you ever decide to give Fur Fighters a try lmk how it goes... it's pretty bad but may be a good laugh. I think it's pretty easy to find cheap too lol. And I don't recall ever playing Tekken with him. I think he got a lot of the fighting games later when he revisited the PS2 while I was in college or something.

Oh interesting question. Honestly I usually stick with the English default unless it's really bad. Or if I feel like the text pacing is a bit slow in English I like to switch to Japanese. But I agree Japanese battle cries tend to be more fun 😆

I recently picked up Ender Lilies but haven't tested it out yet - the game looks gorgeous (& has fantastic reviews) so it's certainly one to consider picking up. I know Limited Run is offering it on their Amazon store front for preorder again so you have some time to wait or you can always import the Japanese edition (which includes English) if you want to hold off buying before finishing up a few titles. So I would say there's no big rush just yet if you need to work on the backlog a bit first :)
@@orbalology I just started one of those, Fire Emblem Three Hopes. I think I set Ender Lilies down for the first time in awhile. My dreams are getting wildly involved in the nature of force and means. I wonder. The tarot says, the Oracle is In this little project of mine. Is involved in the future of things to come. Mind you, gaming is like theory, and calculating on the fly, drawing ✍️ at the speed of vector values, and natural rhythm of haptics, comp putative algorithmic states, and composing poetry, that’s Ender Lilies even if it’s 2D. It feels more intimate like classical macabe, thorns and stems as it were.
So I finally watched the Q&As and I was kind of correct about the username. I thought it had something to do with orbaments, wasn't really thanking about orbal though but that makes sense now. I always thought it was pronounced Orba-lology so I guess it's actually Orbal-ology.
@@orbalology A lot of people pronounce or just call me Mowgli,, like from the Jungle Book. And I'm thinking in my head, you guys say you've played Final Fantasy and you don't know Mog? People just have all sorts of pronunciations. I do call Ryu ree-you now, but I still call Tidus tie-dus or Yuffie you-fee, or Tifa ti-fuh instead of tea-fuh. Those names I liked how I thought they were pronounced better than the actual pronunciation. No matter what the name is people are going to get it wrong if it's not just extremely common.
I really enjoyed Robin's arc and how she overcame the struggles she's had to endure. And she often brings a thoughtful perspective to situations so I think that may be why she's my fave. She's also pretty badass :)

For an example of the latter, I'd recommend the TH-cam video "Chrono Trigger : Schala's Theme + Corridors of Time - @Pixelophonia". Also, for something super geeky, the TH-cam video "Nonfunctional Harmony in Chrono Trigger" is a fun watch, but I understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

We’re you able to get a copy of Final Fantasy pixel remaster preordered? I was so bummed as I was asleep when it went live. I absolutely loved Tokyo Xanadu. I just got 7th Dragon VFD for my 3DS. I definitely recommend Astral chain! Fun fact my son is allergic to cats but not dogs so we have two dogs.
Unfortunately I was asleep when they dropped that FF Pixel Remaster preorder & missed out. Hopefully Square Enix has some retail or Asian-English version available in the future. Agreed Astral Chain is great!! And haha yeah a lot of people are allergic to cat dander but I think I may be allergic to specifically just dog dander or maybe even dog fur - I haven't looked into it 😅

if you don't care about region, you can find japanese Gameboy games/ gba games fairly cheaper (some still pricy) then the American counterparts. especially the jrpg games.
I've considered doing this because of price & also some of the Japanese box art looks really cool! I'm still debating on how I want to go about collecting for those systems but it's definitely a good option to consider.
Haha yeah I can see why it's not for everyone. I came into epidemiology from a biostatistics background so I found some of the unique things about data modeling and analytical methods interesting and decided to pursue that specific field😅

Stella Glow is SUPER bizarre and kind of otaku-core, but VERY fun and rewarding! Excited for you to try it! I especially love its character designs. I'm hearing about lots of folks rediscovering and discovering for the first time the 3ds jrpg library and I LOVE hearing about it! I feel the 3ds has a very above average jrpg library and the convenience of playing it and the huge volume of games on the console makes it one that I think we'll all be enjoying for years. Enjoy! 💜

@aaronpischke5019 - I loved Stella Glow though I didn't find it bizarre at all. Maybe because I'm so used to JRPGs that they seem normal. I don't care for many of the tropes (like harem themes) but if its well done like Stella Glow it works. I think the older I get, the more I like unique stories and find myself getting impatient with typical themes so they have to be well crafted for me to get through them. You are right that the 3DS has a great library!

I recently came across your channel, by YT recommendation, and what has gotten my attention most is you sharing and relating to your own personal experiences in video games. I also like that as a woman you’re not relying on sexuality for attention or clickbait. I also think using a gaming collection as a background is an overdone flex. Channels such as Gamesack prove it’s not a necessary trope. Showing your collection shortly now and then as it pertains to the subject matter or context of the video is more humble IMO and Let’s you be more creative and original. I could keep going, but you keep doing you and don’t try to be like other channels that are mostly copying the same gimmicks of others. I wish for you lots of luck in this endeavor.

Since you mentioned an interest in Asian music, I would recommend Taiko no Tatsujin Rhythm Festival. Plenty of J-pop on there, and lots of control options to play - buttons, handheld touchscreen, joy cons as “air drum sticks” and the Hori drum controller. There’s even an RPG you can import! The Taiko games are some of my favorites on Switch.
I've heard good things about that game! I haven't really dived into rhythm games yet but I have a feeling I would enjoy them :)

About the hidden gems of Switch I agree 100% that the NIS "Labyrinth of" games. They're taking the path of what happened at the time with the Etrian Odyssey games on the DS. In addition, it is the closest thing we have to that saga at the moment. Hopefully this 2023 Atlus will announce a new EO. The Switch needs it. Greetings and keep it up.

I've a review I did for Trails in the Sky, Second Chapter! I am currently playing the Third, but it will be some time until I beat it, unfortunately.
Personally, in terms of narration for the Legend of Heroes, I'm caught up, besides for the newest arc, and I've yet to play the Crossbell duo-logy, but I do own the first installment (and my collector's edition for the second one is on it's way, too, with Trails into Reverie pre-ordered!). I adore The Legend of Heroes.
The Trails games are so great, I think you'll really love the Crossbell duology once you get to it :)

I don't mean to be an OMORI pusher (but I am totally an OMORI pusher) but based on what you said about loving storyline over combat (and OMORI has some great combat mechanics, but the emphasis is on an amazing story, and the game isn't insanely long), I think you might like it. If you ever do play it, I would love to hear what you think of it!
Fire Emblem: Three Houses I loved (LOL my bank account would be a little higher if you hadn't made that great video on Fe!Byleth unboxing, which I played as because as a gay guy, I needed to marry Caspar and Ashe and Fe!Byleth was radiating charisma)... Engage was not quite as good but I really appreciated that outside of Japan, they opened up complete same-sex marriage so I could not only play as my cismale gender identity but also my sexual orientation and end up with Mauvier. RF4 at least threw us gay gamers a bone by letting you switch your character's appearance partway through so you could "fake" same-sex marriage. I was set on Doug but Kiel was too adorable for me to pass up.
I never finished Labyrinth of Refrain, but I bought it because of the Etrian Odyssey vibe. I got the Labyrinth of Galleria CE and it is stunning... the fact that there is a board game on a cloth board packed into the box was too hard to pass up!
Best "worst" game I enjoyed: Poison Control by NIS on the Switch. One of my best friends recommended it to me. It got terrible reviews and it took me a few days to stop hating it and for it to click... but then it was fantastic and I couldn't put it down.
I was going to ask you if you played the Zero Escape series, but literally as I was typing this, you just mentioned the Nonary Games! Luna ending in Virtue's Last Reward = 😭. I watch it whenever I need a good cry. If they're still in your backlog, I can't tell you how incredible the second game is. (First one: good and best played first, last one: okay.) I'd love to hear what you think of them.
Fellow grad school person! I bowed out of gaming when I was in early grad school doing an MSc and PhD in math. Like you, I didn't consider myself a very good public speaker at conferences, but I was very good at teaching. I am so glad that this has been great practice for you in terms of conference talks, which are always hard in math because of the background needed. I was going to pursue a postdoc but I was first on the waiting list for funding at the school under the supervisor I wanted, and so it goes: nobody changed their mind, so I just missed that opportunity. It was kind of a relief, as instead, I got offered my dream job in subtropical Chile and Hawaii doing astronomy research and I wanted to escape Canadian winter for so long. (I noticed a Spanish book on your shelf in an earlier video: hablás español?)
I finished my PhD just shortly after the 3DS came out and was going from having so little money to finally earning much more than what I was making as a grad student, and that got me from not gaming to gaming again in moderation to now my collector's edition binging. My biggest hurdle in keeping up with my gaming backlog is the constant battle between my love of gaming and my passion for math research, which nobody understands how I find fun. That is awesome that you are in stats and epidemiology! And yes: 3DS is my favourite console, followed by the Switch. You have never mentioned Xbox, for which I am relieved... I'm a Mac OS / Unix.guy and I don't Microsoft.

I just love your passion for gaming and collecting so much... so many gamers just wait to buy digital on sale, game on PC, or don't like the same games as I do... it is so amazing to meet a gamer whose tastes overlap with mine so much and who also loves collector's editions! I agree with you that games are not part of my investment portfolio... I buy games for the love of games, even though I have some duplicates I accidentally acquired that I wouldn't mind selling.
Unlike you, I am financially hopeless, even as a math nerd, but luckily, life has been financially very kind to me. I admire your abilities... the cost of living in Hawaii is insane, but well worth it. Your organizational skills - financial and game - are incredibly impressive. I am trying to organize my games but I'll wait until my boyfriend moves here and our collections merge. He is thorough whereas my ADHD makes it nigh impossible.
My favourite OST song, super short. I can't hear it without crying seeing how OMORI is forever confined to unhappiness as evident through the art style. I have bought OMORI for so many people because I love giving people memorable experiences rather than tangible gifts. (SMTIV is my second favourite OST.)

As I mentioned (although you have so many fans now compared to when you made this video that I doubt you can keep us all straight), my boyfriend is moving from Ohio to Hawaii in exactly two weeks today. I've never played a Gamecube before but he shipped me his and it arrived yesterday with a ton of games. In the last three weeks, every time I tell him, "I did a bad thing," he asks, "Which collector's editions or merch did Emily convince you to buy this time?"
If you do another few videos like this, I have a couple questions for you:
1. On average, how many hours do you game a week?
2. Do you ever see yourself catching up with your backlog of games?
3. Is your goal to stay in academia and become a tenured professor?
4. How long do you think it will take as a postdoc to reach your goals?
Maybe not the most interesting questions to most, but as a fellow academic, things that very much interest me.

Have you thought of using your expertise to analyze/talk about certain aspects of video games on your channel (i.g. damage calculations in RPGs, the science presented in specific games, etc)?

Great Q&A. Thank you for featuring my question, (along with the other person's who got way more likes 😂) In terms of my Holy Grail, it's one that you happened to feature in your video. It's the Fire Emblem Fates collectors edition. I didn't even really know that it existed until maybe late 2021, when the prices were expensive but less expensive than they are now. IDK if it's something I'll ever get but, maybe if I save little by little for a few years I can. 😂

The launch of the FE Fates special edition was so poorly done, if I'm remembering correctly it was basically only offered at Gamestop and they didn't get enough copies to fulfil all preorders. I have a feeling we'll be seeing fluctuating prices for 3DS games like we do with every console for the most part. And hey, if Nintendo decides to port or remaster it I'm sure the 3DS version will became much easier to acquire.

@@orbalology Ahh, I didn't know it was a Gamestop exclusive in the US. That explains a lot... You're definitely right about the prices fluctuating and hopefully it will come down. How much is anyone's guess, but it's definitely something I will keep a close eye on going forward. Thankfully I have both standard editions of the Fates games, as well as the conquest DLC downloaded and backed up to my computer. So even if I never get it, I can still enjoy the full experience regardless. ^^
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is infinitely better than 2, so I think you are crazy... but still really enjoy your channel and opinions/insights :)

To touch on something you said regarding streaming games, you said that you are interested but you view your channel as a collecting channel. While I would agree, one thing I like about your channel compared to some other collectors is that while you are collecting, you are curating as you go and talking about why these games interest you and why you picked that game up. Many other channels just read the game title, talk about what it's worth, and then move on to the next. So I think some Let's Plays would coincide with your collecting "philosophy".
You bring up an interesting point that I think makes sense! I'll have to figure out how to work in more Let's Play-type videos hopefully next year :)

I echo a lot of the same sentiments when it comes to why you collect, to your gaming interests (i.e games itself, genre).
On a side note i am slowly starting to collect for the Switch but it's extremely daunting mainly due to the price in Canadian and the exorbitant prices for rare games, limited to collectors edition and accessories i want, one being Skyward Sword Joycons go for 160 CAD atm which is insane since retailers don't have them anymore. (Recently picked up a sealed Steelbook double pack version of Chaos Head Noah/Chaos Child VN for 50$ which isn't bad at all)

That really is unfortunate how expensive Nintendo Switch games & accessories are in Canada - I know places like PNP Games and VideoGamesPlus offer nice discounts often but their inventory can go out of stock quickly. Not sure if this is a feasible alternative but have you looked into proxy services where you can compile packages from the US and ship to Canada? No idea if that would help cut down the cost (and not be ridden with import fees), but possible something to consider.
@@orbalology I have been keeping my eye on VGP and PNP and i mainly want Bayo 2, XBC 2 and Torna but they're still retail price however it's something i'll have to accept i guess.

It's been a long time since I last played any co-op games tbh. My brother and dad like to play games but they're in genres that I don't really gravitate towards. But couch co-op can be a lot of fun given the right game with the right people.
I regret selling my original collection... I had a mint CIB copy of Ninja Five O for the GBA that I got in 2010 for $150... I also had CIB copies of Dragon Warrior III & IV, Bucky O Hare, and more. I have since started collecting again, but I doubt i'll ever get any of these games back since they have shot up in price like crazy. The Ninja Five O still stings to this day and I regret selling it.
Writing this so I can help someone possibly avoid the same mistake that I made.
I feel you here! There are plenty of regrets with childhood games that were traded in and hoping to avoid similar regrets moving forward.

No not really, as I mentioned in the video I never had this console growing up and there are a few other consoles I would rather prioritize. While there are a few exclusive GameCube games that I would love to play at some point like FE Path of Radiance at this point I'm just hoping to see them get remastered on another Nintendo system 😅

I actually have both GBA Fire EMblem games, complete in box, which I bought from the store back when they came out, still in great condition. I tried selling them 4 years ago for about 80$ each (or so), wasn't successful at it though. Seeing that they've since nearly doubled in price is absolutely crazy haha.

Heyyyyy congrats! I missed the question period 😅 but I've got one for you: are you a english voice over gamer or native Japanese voice over? I for one prefer Japanese. They have so much more emotion and expression in their acting. Nothing beats a Japanese battle cry...IMO of course
Oh interesting question. Honestly I usually stick with the English default unless it's really bad. Or if I feel like the text pacing is a bit slow in English I like to switch to Japanese. But I agree Japanese battle cries tend to be more fun 😆

The ❤says that Ender lilies is the most consuming game title for me as my backlog grows, maybe I should just buy as I finish titles, what do you think?
I recently picked up Ender Lilies but haven't tested it out yet - the game looks gorgeous (& has fantastic reviews) so it's certainly one to consider picking up. I know Limited Run is offering it on their Amazon store front for preorder again so you have some time to wait or you can always import the Japanese edition (which includes English) if you want to hold off buying before finishing up a few titles. So I would say there's no big rush just yet if you need to work on the backlog a bit first :)

So I finally watched the Q&As and I was kind of correct about the username. I thought it had something to do with orbaments, wasn't really thanking about orbal though but that makes sense now. I always thought it was pronounced Orba-lology so I guess it's actually Orbal-ology.
I often hear different pronunciations of my channel name which I find kind of funny. Probably should have chosen a less obscure name 😅
@@orbalology A lot of people pronounce or just call me Mowgli,, like from the Jungle Book. And I'm thinking in my head, you guys say you've played Final Fantasy and you don't know Mog?
People just have all sorts of pronunciations. I do call Ryu ree-you now, but I still call Tidus tie-dus or Yuffie you-fee, or Tifa ti-fuh instead of tea-fuh. Those names I liked how I thought they were pronounced better than the actual pronunciation. No matter what the name is people are going to get it wrong if it's not just extremely common.
Who is your favorite strawhat and why is it Robin?
I really enjoyed Robin's arc and how she overcame the struggles she's had to endure. And she often brings a thoughtful perspective to situations so I think that may be why she's my fave. She's also pretty badass :)

I haven't yet but I've heard good things about them! I'll admit that I can be slow when it comes to getting to digital only releases because I tend to wait for deep discounts 😅

@@orbalology That's cool, I'm confident you'll enjoy revisiting it. :-) Something worth mentioning is that as it's such a beloved soundtrack there are tons of excellent covers, ranging from solo performances to full orchestral arrangements. For an example of the latter, I'd recommend the TH-cam video "Chrono Trigger : Schala's Theme + Corridors of Time - @Pixelophonia". Also, for something super geeky, the TH-cam video "Nonfunctional Harmony in Chrono Trigger" is a fun watch, but I understand it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

We’re you able to get a copy of Final Fantasy pixel remaster preordered? I was so bummed as I was asleep when it went live. I absolutely loved Tokyo Xanadu. I just got 7th Dragon VFD for my 3DS. I definitely recommend Astral chain! Fun fact my son is allergic to cats but not dogs so we have two dogs.
Unfortunately I was asleep when they dropped that FF Pixel Remaster preorder & missed out. Hopefully Square Enix has some retail or Asian-English version available in the future. Agreed Astral Chain is great!! And haha yeah a lot of people are allergic to cat dander but I think I may be allergic to specifically just dog dander or maybe even dog fur - I haven't looked into it 😅

if you don't care about region, you can find japanese Gameboy games/ gba games fairly cheaper (some still pricy) then the American counterparts. especially the jrpg games.
I've considered doing this because of price & also some of the Japanese box art looks really cool! I'm still debating on how I want to go about collecting for those systems but it's definitely a good option to consider.

Haha yeah I can see why it's not for everyone. I came into epidemiology from a biostatistics background so I found some of the unique things about data modeling and analytical methods interesting and decided to pursue that specific field😅
