wow this is just like scott the woz
I genuinely wonder how long it took you to notice that lol
I'm surprised you didn't notice beforehand. Either that or you did but didn't care.
Why are people not realizing it was done on purpose 💀💀
That's the joke here folks.. It's "just like STW"
Ik right but you should continue!!!
@@LachieW182probably a bot but im pretty sure antdude existed before scott did LMAO
Jokes aside, Scott's Stash is honestly a GREAT format to follow. Considering long form content is the best way to go for main channels, mini videos like this is AMAZING. I support the "____'s Stash" genre of channel.
been watching scott's stash a lot lately. nice to listen to when you just wanna relax
Its great, until it gets oversaturated. Hope it stays in the circle of youtube game reviewers, and doesn't go mainstream
how tf is an almost 40 min video a "mini video", that's long as shit. not only that, but just straight up copying Scotts style with pretty much no changes isn't interesting at all. I wish he at least just put his own unique touch on it. He didn't have to straight up use his camera angle and format.... (the similar floor doesn't help), hopefully this was a one time thing, or he changes it up a bit.
@@DiSCERiTYok but how does this affect lebrons legacy
@@DiSCERiTY Shut the hell up. Like actually. There are no original ideas nowadays. I'm just saying that these low pressure videos are really good for creator and viewer alike. Also, you're in a VERY small minority on this one, so, don't expect things to change lol.
I legit thought Scott finally went through puberty when he started talking…
This carpet gaming video series aesthetic is my new favorite thing and I am happy.
Yooooo AntDude’s Stash??? This is hyyype
Thats what i immiedently tought when he said talking games in carpet in the main channel. Just like Scott's stash .
This is hype let's go
Hi Nathaniel I Love your videos
I agree with you This is Hype 🎉
@@t-elijahmorrison6855 I Love Scott and Anthony
Hi dad
Hold up, ain’t you Nathaniel B?
the amount of whiplash i got from both the scott's stash format *and* caddy/gilly's "world of..." title format.
i aint complaining, i love hearing this dude talk
Hey Phil of Premium Edition Games customer service here. Thanks so much for sharing our products with your viewers and giving us a shout-out. We're glad you love our releases. And the new upgrades we did for our standard editions. We wanted to give them a truly premium feel. Keep up the great work on your channel. Happy gaming and collecting everyone. 🥰
All the limited and collectors editions is a rabbit hole worth avoiding imo except for games you love and it's better to go alternative versions to save the money, Japan and Europe got a lot of releases of games that are 'Limited.'
Don't forget the new ninty machine is on the way and it'll be the same story there, so you'll never be limited to the games you'll want to play.
The market is so flooded you should be wary of fomo and end up with loads of games you don't want.
I think a lot of people will just move on.
I am hyped for Antdude the Woz on the side channel! Legitimately a really fun format for a side series.
I AM SO UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY TO GET MORE FUN ANTDUDE CONTENT.
Hey, you have the best Metallica album as a pfp and i respect that ;3
In the last 5 years I bought a lot limited and imported games for the Switch and while I enjoyed it a lot I stopped collecting this year because I reflected on my budget over the years. I spent way too much money on 50+ $ physical games that were like 10 $ or less on the eshop, especially on sales.
I love video games and would like to have all my games physical but more important for me is playing the games and saving money means I can get more games. Of course I'm aware that digital is tied to a service that can be shut down on any time but to be fair, I don't return to older consoles that much so I'm a little less scared about losing access and I'm still buying the easy to get physical games for reasonable prices, just not that rare stuff anymore.
I honestly wasn't paying attention and initially thought this was a Scott's Stash episode but was pleasantly surprised to hear Antdude. More of this excellent content please. 👍
Just bought the tunic physical a few weeks ago and I’m loving it. Really great game.
let's just all appreciate how the video game scripted essay TH-camr community thing influences each other like this. many of our favorite current creators were inspired by Jontron, or AVGN, or The Completionist etc. As TH-cam evolves and creators share ideas and video styles like this I think its very cool to see different people and their takes on the same style of content. Yes this is Ant's Stash, but I absolutely love Scott's and Ant's stashes.
For those wondering like me, the background music is Dessert from Bomberman Hero. And the BGM used since the NASB2 video is Redial, also from Bomberman Hero.
Im also a real big switch collector so its honestly just so cathartic to see someone else talk about how weird this system is. Like i just got the final fantasy pixel remaster and that shantae 1 physical a few months ago
I was pretty into this whole limited release thing for a while when the Switch was a bit more fresh but I got really burned out on it with all the silliness with fomo and whatever. It actually sort of pushed me more into digital because it felt silly to pay so much and wait so long for a game I could easily download and buy for much cheaper. I kept a few but ended up selling a lot of them. I honestly can't stand buying a game just to have it and letting it sit for however long. Most of the games I had were not really worth having a physical for in the end.
Interesting topic for sure! I just feel the whole preservation thing was/is used as a sales tactic and that's kinda lame.
The problem nowadays is how Limited Run is the top dog of releasing games which are either coming later or never coming to physical. LRG is the toxic core of collecting : multiple useless editions to increase rarity when they cost a regular price in japan/adia, series divides in single releases when Asia gets them bundled (No more heroes, River City Girls), and now even BIG publishers use LRG to increase their revenue for well known games (see Quake 2 recently).
Its all about scamming that doofus who really thinks a different cover and a bunch of stickers released at 300 copies is worth paying "premium"
One thing to know about Limited Run is they do not sit on the rights to a game after they do their release. So if the developer wants to do a second release with a different publisher, they can do so. So that's why in some cases you will find LRG games released again through a different company later on.
Switch collecting is a fool's errand and we will happily be the fools.
There's no fool for a thing that has value in the future more than you bought in the present. It's like an investment that grows in value.
this feels like a scott’s stash video and im not complaining
Man I Collect alot of Physical Nintendo Switch Games to for My Nintendo Switch Oled I need To Make A Video Similar to yours.
I dont get why Shantae physical is limited. Half Genie Hero was retail everywhere once. Also since I am from Europe and our Text on the Spine is centerd Not starting at the top like in america i dont like buying from These Companys since it looks weird im the collection.
Adore this video style for longer game discussions :)
Ants Stash?
I wish Limited Run and some of these other companies re-released some of their earlier titles. Getting into the Shantae series last year for its 20th anniversary was frustrating because Pirates Curse was hundreds of dollars more than the rest of the games physically (at least on switch), leaving a big gap in the collection. Otherwise I’m grateful they exist and we have physical copies of games that would normally be digital only.
I promise you all those games will get reissued for Nintendo's next console.
They actually do, just not on the same console. They are re-releasing a bunch of their early games, such as the Shantae games just on PS5.
They'll probably do it again on whatever the switch successor is.
wouldnt be so limited of a run would it
@teeveeparty kinda doubt it for some of the earlier one off indie games but it sure is aggrevating either way :/
I know a channel like this might not get the most traction or views but I am always in LOVE with this format. As a long time viewer of AntDude, this kind of content is perfect!!
Personally I don't really like these companies that do limited prints on purpose tbh, it literally guarantees prices to skyrocket and it's gonna be extremely annoying to revisit the switch in 20 years.
i love more casual content like that more than highly edited content!
Honestly, while I kinda don't care about collecting physical releases of games or, well, collecting in general, especially to keep a game stuck in a box forever (if I get a game, it's to play it, I honestly don't have the need for many of the extra bells and whistles that make it super expensive, at most I'd just like to have an instruction manual), it's still neat to see many a these games, both mainstream and niche, getting physical releases. Plus, videos like these are always a good way to find out about games I never even heard of before!
Also, oh God, Demon Throttle is literally King's Knight but probably better designed. I'm not sure what to make of that.
I also remember the original Phoenotopia, it was a flash game! Saw it a few times while browsing Newgrounds. Still haven't played it for some reason.
Are you on a real floor at least? Scott gave me carpet trust issues...
I like '1 Print Games' I bought the Eternal Radiance limited edition from them and really liked it
All this stuff is really cool and neat, but man it’s gonna make buying switch games a nightmare down the road
Loved the LimitedRun segment at the start. Ended up getting the 10th Anniversary copy of Mutant Mudds Collection even though I received the game for free, as it's my favourite indie full stop.
And then when it was shipping, the customs at Sydney airport LOST THE PACKAGE. So LR were real babes about it and sent me a replacement copy free of charge. 😊
Micröids have been my big binge lately though. Physical copies of the Oddworld titles, with lenticular covers, key rings and stickers. Ohoho, and they have the publishing rights to Flashback atm too which is neat!
Let’s Go, More AntDude👍
when the world needed him most this channel returned
As an owner of over 400 Switch games at last count, one of my favorite aspects of collecting is the story behind how I became interested in each game. Games are far more than entertainment. They are also memories. Thanks for a great video!
I sure do hate limited run games but I mean, it's not preservation for collectors who somehow are low on cash if you aren't selling these games for longer.
It definitely gets confusing when you dive into not only different publishers but also the same publishers in different regions (and the requirements included there). Quite a mix of ESRB, PEGI, CERO, and non-rated game releases (such as European and Asia territory releases in English). It's a bummer that a good number of games (such as Famicom Detective Club and Chrono Cross) don't necessarily lack markets outside Japan - they publishers will sometimes make the deliberate decision to release only to their Japanese audience. Other times the teams doing these releases only have a budget to account for the Japanese market (like with the Genesis/Mega Drive 2 Mini consoles).
I've got a few games along these lines - Celeste (Switch)from FanGamer, Cotton 100% (SNES) from Strictly Limited (wish I could have gotten Panorama Cotton (MD) though), and Avenging Spirit (GB). Thanks for sharing your collection!
Phenomenal video! This is my Switch collecting area. I love Super Rare, FanGamer, and iam8bit. Limited Run, Strictly Limited and most of the others are pretty cool. Special Reserve collapsed - I think they’re going out of business, because once they went retail they got rid of anything “special” about themselves.
First Press out of Germany is absolutely horrible, as I’m going on year #3 in waiting for a copy of Mulaka Collector’s Edition. It is ludicrous, avoid them at all cost. And three more: Tesura Games out of the UK, and Forever Limited out of Poland are awesome (Green Hell physical copy!). And Red Art Games from France is mostly decent, though they did take $100 from me a few years ago.
I JUST REALIZED THIS ISNT SCOTT💀💀💀
Cool new upload. I swear it feels like this channel kind gets thrown to the side a bunch given how the last video was half a month ago. Kind of sad. Maybe more uploads will come soon but I'm going to guess AntDude is a pretty busy guy working on the main channel, so idk when the next one could be. However, I will say that it is always a nice surprise to see this channel upload.
Edit: Made before the community post
It still hurts with the Final Fantasy PR one, cause I really wanted that art book and I can't seem to find a digital version of it anywhere.
And no, they weren't selling a digital version.
Jealous of that physical Grandia box! Only having it digital just isn't the same for me 😢
I'm almost 100 games in at this point... Probably gonna be double that by the time the Switch's successor is out.
But I'm definitely in the same boat with the whole "Reselling down the road" ordeal. And I'll probably be keeping a little over one-third of it by the time I'm done... It's been quite the investment. 😂
Same here, I'm a hardcore physical games collector for the switch. I don't every single game just the ones I loved the most.
Oh my god Scott the Woz (just kidding this is awesome lol)
scott's stash meets caddicarus. scott's stash because of the main video and caddicarus because of the title of the video.
These games sealed are not going to be worth much of anything in 10 years. Everyone is keeping them sealed and the odds you get people are going to be wanting these in 10 years is very low. Items made as collectibles almost never end up being collectible. Love the video, put me on to some good games.
I'm usually a stickler for having my physical games be the US region, but knowing these games automatically boot in English is good to know. If I ever have the funds, I might even go and get physical versions of games I got digitally like Okami HD.
Key word being *if.*
Limited run is just cool we’re getting Gex back and they’re doing more actual releases you can buy in stores and are easy to get in all stores like Shredders revenge and monkey island
These sort of videos are great to me, full of info about obscure releases, keep these coming!
You should rename this channel to "Ant's Nest" xD
I don’t play videos games like I used to so I live vicariously through you. Great work!
Love this kind of content as an aside to your additional releases. It's always fun to hear you talk about odd games you've discovered/collected because they are almost always aligned with my tastes.
I genuinely wonder how the collecting market will be for Limited Run games. Between the criticisms from that company and the amount of limited games theyve reproduced, im sure some of the games will go below market, just because of the lack of desirability to it even with it being technically scarce. Who would want a $60 copy of NES' Bill and Ted on the Switch?
I only found out about this recently when I was looking for physical copies of an indie game I really like. Fortunately, they still had it in stock and that is my first and only limited print game
I'm not sure how common it is, but I was super happy, when I found a physical Version of HollowKnight in a Gamestore. I have never seen it outside of Online-Sites and Collectors-Editions so it felt really special for me! Couldn't help but buy it xD
Wait this isn't Scott the Woz!
This is Ant the Dude!
I love this format so much. It's so comforting
I bought the Unsighted collectors edition so long ago it came in a year later and I completely forgotten about it. It was a nice surprise when it did come in
There’s currently nearly 5,000 physicals and counting. I can’t imagine what collector would be able to get them all. Especially when many of these titles are hundreds of dollars.
Dude I love you! I had already seen the Sonic on DS and 3DS videos and specially the MegaMan Zero/ZX Legacy Collection videos you did, but I have been watching both of your channels and I love them! You and Scott The Woz are best! (I loved that crossover on the New Super Mario Bros. video 😂)
I'm cool with more Scott's Stash style content. It's fun to listen to you talk like this.
I've done some minor limited game collecting. Limited Run Games primarily, though I've recently ordered stuff from Strictly Limited Games. And as you mentioned VGNY was at a convention I went to recently so for "Eh, why not?" I bought a few from them - amusingly one of the games they had on display I already owned physically because I had backed it on Kickstarter when the developer first wanted to make it. Actually on that note Kickstarter/other fundraising places would probably also factor into the limited Switch games scene since some of those campaigns will have a physical option and it's possible they never get picked up by one of the companies meaning the only way to have gotten it physically was to have backed the campaign.
Seeing the blastermaster mentions warms my heart, it's one of my favorite games
I mostly collect visual novels/rpgs and “JRPGs” physically. But yes, if I see a shantae or cross code for a decent price I’d get those too. It’s such an interesting process, the limited run/smaller games
This new Scott's Stash vid looks so good.
Been waiting a whole lifetime for the Plumbers Don't Wear Ties remaster.
Even though I don’t really like the Switch all that much anymore, I still find it’s library and collection of games really cool.
Should’ve just called it “Antdudes Stash” Jesus Christ dude lol
More of this, this format is great!
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one into rare physical games. Specially on handheld consoles. I still have my fair count of vita games. ❤
Love seeing CrossCode there at the start, great gem of a game!
There's also a company called First Press Games, which from what I hear make some of the nicest physicals but have one of the worst waiting times of any limited print company and will routinely delay games and delete any posts from the community calling them out on it.
YEAHHHHH ANTDUDE SECONDARY CONTENT
Another thing about Strictly Limited Games and their Wonder Boy - Asha in Monster World shenanigans.
When they originally announced their Mega Collectors Edition (which was rebranded under many alternate names like Ultra CE, Deluxe CE, etc), it advertised a big statue of Asha and Pepe as part of the package.
Only that the main figure was not shown in the promotional images of any sort.
It also initially had a release date that was five or take a month or so after the remake’s release date.
Yeah that didn’t happen.
It got delayed numerous times, without any heads up to the people who’d already put money down on the preorders, with the figure finally being publicly shown off over two years later.
With awful customer service, extremely shady staff, and very weirdo shill fans.
Ultimately finally releasing nearly three years after the initial preorder dates.
And in the end; they somehow fucked up and printed the wrong OSTs on the two CDs that were included. (The Mega Drive soundtrack was on the “Arranged” CD with remake artwork, and the remake’s soundtrack was on the “Original” CD with Mega Drive/original artwork)
Apparently their rendition of the Cotton Fantasy/Rock N Roll collector’s edition was also really bad. Which is weird, because it was literally nothing more than just a SLG branded printing of the original Japanese version of the exact same Collectors Edition’s contents.
What you mean with shady staff? Their shipping times are super annoying and pre-orders take a while, but I didn't spot any shady staff yet
Limited Run has always been up front that they don't make exclusivity deals and don't own any of the rights to the games they publish for other companies, who are then free to make whatever other deals they want in the future. I think that's cool. If you're not a speculator and just buy games you want, you shouldn't have a problem. LRG doesn't work with Best Buy anymore, now it's Amazon.
Damn that’s a lot of Switch games, not sure if I’ll ever own as many games on my Switch as you but you got an awesome collection.
Now that Ant mention’s Scott’s channel I kind of want these to open up with “Hey all Ant here.”
At first I thought “what the hell happened to scott’s voice” and then I realized this wasn’t Scott’s Stash.
Deathsmiles is a weird one because it has a retail release, Special Reserve release, and Limited Run release, all with different bonuses.
I need MORE of this content Ant PLEASE
I just found demon throttle on sale at Best Buy for 15 dollars. It was a blind buy but happy to add it after finding out it’s physical only.
“I can’t believe it’s not Scott’s stash”
That carpet looks familiar.
I wasn't expecting you were gonna bring up Premium Edition games. Only game I've gotten from them is A Robot named Fight and it's so awesome. They're really underrated
I want that Famicom Detective Club so bad 😢
I love that there exist physical versions for all those games.... but I hate ordering games online and get them so much later.... gladly Limited Run ships to places in Europe but every is so Expensive because you have to buy Day One or pay even more, if you don't commit earlier
I also bought one of the last remaining copies of Ittle Dew from 1PrintGames earlier this year since I had the physical of the sequel. In addition, I have Murder by Numbers from EastAsiaSoft, another obscure limited games company, as well as Haiku the Robot from Super Rare Games arriving in the mail soon.
A second channel for more Antdude greatness is something i will GLADLY take!
Ooh I might get that Ace Attorney physical copy. Even though I own it digitally already, that would just be a cool thing to have
I’m pretty sure the switch is already the best console in history when it comes to owning physical games. Just JRPGs alone make it and amazing console.
I absolutely love it.
The best thing is that even if you spend a ton of money, most games hold their value and many other increase. So it can even be considered an investment
So the video just started and... I WANT THAT SHANTAE PHYSICAL RELEASE!
Best find in a long time a little bit back was going into local Gamestop and seeing they'd bundled Cotton Reboot + Cotton Fantasy brand new for $30... was about to buy Shovel Knight when I noticed it in the display case where they keep systems and limited edition releases. Really hope they still have the double pack of Darius games... not sure which two (if there are more than two, lol), store was busy asf and I knew I wanted Cotton more than any Darius. Hahaha.
Great video though - I just finally got my copy of Radiant Silvergun on Switch so was looking into older releases that might be interesting to track down before insane price hits. lol
I remember the cooking mama saga that it wasn't to be released because of some stuff going between 2 companies. And that it had crypto software on the cart that runs in the background while you play
First Press games got me on their as yet to be released physical of Crimson Clover World Explosion. Some folks have been waiting 2 years for that to be released. I feel like a sucker jumping into that preorder like last month but I really love that game so I just keep hoping it will come eventually.
Man, my experience of ordering Scott Pilgrim VS The World The Game and the Soundtrack vinyl with Limited Run completely turned me off the company for good. Endless delays with zero communication.
You have no idea what kind of world you've opened up for me now that I know about multi-language games
this was a really good video, had no idea most of these physicals existed of some of my favorite games...
always wanted the CotL Special Reserve editions but thought it was too complicated and got nothing but the Steam version lol
When the switch is a “retro” console it’s going to be a nightmare to collect for!
I recently sold my physical switch collection and it already went for way more money than I expected.
