You know what I love the most about this series? It consistently stayed great. Each one has improvements over the past one in terms of animation, story, and characters. Even the spinoff shows and short films were decent for what they were. Not many franchises can accomplish that enduring level of quality.
My favorite part of the franchise is Race to the Edge. It had characters like Dagur, Heather and Viggo, and dragons so great, theres no dragon species cooler than the ones introduced in rtte, save for maybe the deathgripper and toothless. And great story, with good villains and the Best plot twist in the franchise (Johann is a villain) only issue is that it doesnt tie to the trilogy at all, so characters like Heather, Windshear, Dagur, Sleuther, the wingmaidens, none of those participate at all in any important event.
And i cant even comprehend the fact that the Skrill, the only dragon shown to be able to go toe to toe with Toothless, wasnt one of the dragons enslaved by Grimmel, who had only one type of combat dragons.
I mean, that flashback is when Hiccup realizes he needs to let Toothless be on his own, and let him go on with his life with the LF! And all he says is “Skip!” Come on, I would be fine if he gave some sins there, because even though I love the HTTYD movies, I also love watching the EWW HTTYD videos, but I am not fine with a “skip!” ANYWHERE
The point of the serise was learning to live side by side with dragons. So what do they do to end it? Undo literally everything the entire thing it was about.
Yeah, it dosent make sense. To achieve a united world between dragons and vikings, they think complete separation is the solution!? And dragons just become a fairy tale for the next generations.

@@Jakushka Yes. The director even mentioned his desire when making the trilogy to end with the books opening line of "There were dragons when I was a boy".
I'm highly offended you never took off sins for how absolutely stunningly gorgeous this movie is. My point is that I think they were more generous in the past.
My biggest gripe is how that the end of the movie paints it as (even within hiccups life span) dragon are starting be considered myth. The second movie and the show paint clearly that dragon are as abundant in their world as anything else. I highly doubt the Vikings are capable of killing them off (or at least close to extinction). Nor do Viking kind as a whole have a good motive to do that. Hiccup’s biggest enemies have been others with dragons. Dragons with minimal effort are great weapons and if trained properly are the current fastest way to travel. Even if all wild dragons are killed military dragons would still be prevalent.
I hate that 'last dragon' cliche so much it doesn't make any sense considering how often dragons would've reproduced and don't even mention the amount of species.
I’m 90% sure this was because the writers wanted to end it like the books. The books are a completely different storyline, (toothless is a tiny dragon that fits on Hiccups’ shoulder for one)they don’t have as many plot holes and the story wraps up nicely. They tried to do the same ending here and well- it didn’t really work the same
@@bitratebenny2856 In the books! There's How to Train Your Dragon, How to be a Pirate, How to Speak Dragonese and 9 more. They're children's books with fun little sketches of the characters sprinkled through the pages. The stories are nothing like the movies but they are fantastic fun to read. It follows the tales of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third, his best friend Fishlegs (the scrawny bespectacled berserker) and eventually Camicazi the burglar and swardmaster girl from the neighboring vikings (It is a true travesty she was not included in the movies). They have dragons for every use, but the most important are the hunting dragons and riding dragons. Toothless is either a Common Garden or a Basic Brown Dragon but you really can't tell the difference (Hiccup is embarrassed by his dragon and lies, saying Toothless is a Night Fury (a made-up super rare breed) and just looks like a Common Garden). He's a hunting dragon about the size of a house cat and is a lovely little destructive troublemaker. They have wild adventures and quirky reoccurring villains. Many of the dragon designs in the movies and shows are based off of the illustrations in the books and we actually get to see Toothless's original design in one of the movies. 10/10 would recommend both the books and the movies for very different reasons
there are so many reasons to sin comcast, that may be there intent, but shittiest customer service, sudo-monopoly, lobbyists for the worst things...etc
Saulo Lima They’re a completely different species than toothless, which is shown in the movie as the babies toothless and light fury make are mixed, which probably means there were female night furies to breed pure black dragons
Toothless became the king of dragons last movie when he defeated that huge water beast dragon. They already had to obey him, he just has a bigger audience outside of berk
You should read the books if you haven't already. They're similar the movies but there's 12 of them and the plotlines are WAY more interesting (nothing against the movies, they're just not as good plotline wise) and some really serious stuff happens. I'm talking sacrifices, murder, the works. It's basically Game of Thrones for kids. I'm frustrated that everyone seems to latch onto the first book as the shining star of the series but to be honest the first one is mediocre compared to the rest.
10:54 Toothless is already king because he asserted dominance at the end of the second movie. He also clearly doesn't rule the hidden world, and is just being respected because of his overall status and title.
@@Kevin_drinks_Lead That's not what I said. I said that Toothless was just getting respect in the Hidden World for being A king, not for being THEIR king. He probably became king upon returning. It's also been a year since this all occured, so I could be rusty.

4:17 You missed a great out-take where you could use a line from another animated movie where a king and his son (would-be king) stand on the edge of a cliff and discuss location landmarks based on the sun.
My biggest sin for this movie is the dragons leaving. At the end of the second film Hiccup and Toothless’s bond had developed to the point where they needed each other and in this film they just threw it all away. Also this film lost the core theme. The previous 2 films were about challenging nature’s laws and creating forbidden relationships. In this film, it had none of that. Although the final film to the Httyd series definitely wasn’t the best, it at least wasn’t the worst film ever.

@Dove no your good. I thought the exact same as you when the movie came out. After rewatching it a few times though, the gold foil definetly rubbed off.
Grimmel didn’t capture toothless in the beginning because he clearly says he lives for the hunt. He wanted more challenge in getting toothless. That and he needed toothless to tell the other dragons to follow him so by then it wasn’t the right time.
EXACTLY, all ive seen r comments saying something like it being referenced to httyd2 or at the end of this one. thought i was the only one who thought about the lion King
I think i can explain the whole part where Hiccup was fine after the lightning. Each dragon is adapted to certain things, and Toothless is adapted to withstand lightning, and Hiccup's armor had night fury scales. Those other dragons weren't meant to withstand it
Annnnd if the ocean is constantly falling into the magic hole how does the ocean not run out of water. Like is there some magic geyser on the other side of the cave constantly shooting the water back into the world and at the same rate it falls into the hole?
Seriously, though. One of the fun parts of the franchise is the writers playing around with the characters by having them believe natural events are caused by the gods, but then they pull out this crap like "hey, magic! It's a thing!"
Damn come on the dragon romance scenes were some of the best. Watching them communicate so much between each other without a single word is just beautiful
Jon Goat it’s obviously a joke. The problem is the joke doesn’t really work just because you said it’s more expensive then therapy. Would have been better to says it’s like therapy, but he gets paid to do it, though it’s less effective.
Take this, how come other dragons of the same species come in different colors? For example: there are different color gronkles. So why can’t nightfurys come in different colors? The light fury can possibly be a night fury, because she’s a female she’s shaped different. Just my theory 🤷♀️

Unpopular opinion: This franchise's ending was rushed and is a res-skin of the HTTYD 2's plot but with Toothless falling in love instead of Hiccup finding his mother.
10:54 Toothless is the Alpha because of the shenanigans of the last movie... This doesn't explain, however, whether all the dragons sheltered here were present and acknowledge his alpha status... No idea what the rules are governing dragon sovereignty/whether they have a news network to relay to all dragons in all realms that they have a new alpha.
12:07 What are those two white dragons? They look like more “light” furys, I mean ignoring the httyd2 reference in the background, witch is obviously the big evil dragon
10:53 Toothless is the literal alpha of dragons in this movie, as established in HTTYD 2, so the question you should be asking is how come none of the dragons have told or shown their alpha a hidden world before? Also in the series Race to the Edge, there was an entire episode about Astrid trying to find the right engagement object.
10:52 Actually there are other light fury's, there's no confirmation on the night fury, but I always assumed he was king because he became an alpha in the second movie...
Here's one thing i don't like: Toothless went from "last of his kind" to "king of the dragons". I think the writers forgot that hundrends of Night Furies, that have the same powers as Toothless, roamed the Earth.
Well did Grimmel really travel across the entire globe and searched for every night fury in existence? I’m convinced they are still out there, just extremely rare 🤷♀️
8:45 that joke is funny and all, but if he learned it from toothless, why would he have to mimic it so toothless would do it? ...date pressure I guess...
You didn’t sin the fact that Grimmel says Night Fury’s can’t survive in the cold, but in the first movie Hiccup says “It snows 9 months of the year and hails the other three” Toothless should be dead
LordTic5 And there’s the animated series where that has literally never been a problem for Toothless and there was even a scene where he was out in the snow trying to keep Hiccup warm, it’s blatantly obvious how out of nowhere that thing is.
They really aren't. I've seen some counters skip or go forward even without sinning statements. But then again, they also say that sometimes they purposefully say wrong things.
I just now realise that what happened between Night Furies and Light Furies is similar to what happen between black and white peppered moths. Peppered moths have a majority white pallet and a gene variation that changes it to majority black. As trees became darker, the black pallet blended in more and as such, they survived to reproduce and become more dominate than their bright alternative. In HTTYD's universe, the light furies are able to stealth themselves, avoiding human detection. Night furies on the other hand were not able to do this (to my knowledge) and as such, were detected and hunted relentlessly. As night furies were hunted and light furies escaped, it would explain why there are more light furies than night as the movie would suggest. (There were 2 light furies at 12:05 but no night furies)

My favorite part about rrte is how it shows the character and relationship development from the first movie to the second.

Sounds like the Temeraire series the way you described dragons as military weapons.
well, it is described in the books.
@@flamboyant_wolf what’s described in the books?
I hate that 'last dragon' cliche so much it doesn't make any sense considering how often dragons would've reproduced and don't even mention the amount of species.
I’m 90% sure this was because the writers wanted to end it like the books. The books are a completely different storyline, (toothless is a tiny dragon that fits on Hiccups’ shoulder for one)they don’t have as many plot holes and the story wraps up nicely. They tried to do the same ending here and well- it didn’t really work the same
2:22 Especially since Hiccup's mom is Snotlouts aunt in the books, weather they are blood related or not that's not ok
I'm sorry, in the what now?

The previous 2 films were about challenging nature’s laws and creating forbidden relationships. In this film, it had none of that. 6:49 when Cinemasins says that they're not good at counting even though thats the whole point of the channel
