As someone whose husband lost his mom to cancer as a teen, I can't fucking take him to the movies without this cliche bullshit ruining our every damn date night. It's a huge trope and it's EVERYWHERE. I've given up.
That part hit me the hardest. Same thing happened to me when I was a kid with my grandmother, haven't quite completely dealt with those issues even 2 decades later so yeah that part was no fun. Though I also appreciated it's addition.

The spell was already started by accident. the time didnt start when he finished the spell, but when he started it. The whole adventure is within 24 hours. If he hadnt accedentaly started the spell and somehow knew what they needed to fully do it without going on the journey, then yah they would have done that.
Another question is why didnt they get a day with the top half of their dad? Since magic lets the halves of their father survive independently of each other, why didnt they get another day once the sun set?
In a sense i wasn't sure about this movie at first because i thought it would be a rip off of FMA but it turned out that even if it had the same start it was more D&D than FMA
I actually really liked the LGBT+ representation in this movie..yeah they're a minor character but they're just treated like another person...it's not a big deal it's just another side character...I could see why people may have issues with it but I'm just saying I enjoyed it

i think the reason he did it is bc Ian knew his dad was practically a stranger and that his brother really needed closure over the dad’s death since he was so young at the time and probably couldn’t fully process it until he got older. while ian at the beginning would’ve given the world to see his dad and learn who he was ian knew his brother needed it much more than him and that says a lot abt his character development

Nah, I have to agree with the ending. . . Ian was ripped off. I don't care how much he loves his brother, but there is going to be a small part of him that regrets that decision for the rest of his life. Is it noble? I'm surprised he didn't mention on how their dad's top part should have stayed because they used a new Phoenix Gem. The movie specifically states "Till tomorrow's sun has set" so he really still can meet his dad but he won't be able to walk.
@Coconut Pal They never directly suggest that a spell can be completed properly after you botch it, and the spell says it only needs 1 phoenix gem, so it should logically be a second casting of the spell when they re-cast it. Using D&D as a reference, reanimating someone costs 1 diamond, using a second diamond to re-cast the spell after somehow failing the first time would just count as a second separate casting, and they are clearly using D&D as the framework for this spell (at least the material requirements).
Add a million sins for when Officer Bronco slaps his ass at the end of the movie. That didn't need to happen. Neither did the love story between Bronco and the mom.
Remember when Jeremy used to pay attention on little details like that? They actually let him find useful sins, like when there was an actual plot hole or an editing mistake rather than "I think this is a plot hole because I failed to pay attention and refuse to go back and check myself."

One thing that bothered me was that Barley didn't feel too bad about almost killing Ian after the bridge scene. Kind of felt like realizing your decisions nearly killed your brother would've had a deeper impact than Barley telling him that he didn't need the rope.

The ending of this movie had my fiance and I tearing up. My fiance hardly ever gets emotional during movies, so that's saying a lot. We didn't think we'd enjoy the movie as much as we did. The trailers made it look okay, but not as great as it actually was, hence why I didn't bother seeing it in theaters. It sucks when trailers don't hype up the audience. This movie is a gem. Plus, my fiance is a dedicated D&D player, so he got a ton of laughs out of all the references. :)
Why is it always that the disney movies that get the least amount of pre-hyping end up being fantastic. My favorite disney movies are Treasure planet, Atlantis, and now this.
@@MatchaTheVibeking those are great movies, too. Honestly, back then, it was a mixture of things that ultimately led to those two movies being box office flops. The history is interesting, so I highly recommend learning about it. I was a teen when those movies first came out and I really liked them, especially Treasure Planet. It's good they're getting the recognition they deserve. They weren't blockbusters by any means, but they still had a lot of great animation, good characters, a solid story, and a memorable OST.

One of the biggest nitpicks my brother and I have/pointed out and calculated either mid movie or after it (my brother and I were watching it in an imax theatre alone right before corona shut down movie theaters) The nitpick is about the distance traveled after they refuel the van and it comes in two parts: 1. The price of gas in movie at that station they visit is like 2.39/gal and Ian buys $10 (4.184 gallons) of gas for a *2 gallon Jerry can* 2. I also had to estimate the model Barely’s van mimics, the closest match I could determine is a 1986 Chevy G10 Shorty Van, equipped with a 5.0 Liter V8 and a fuel efficiency of 14-17. It goes through the whole pixie biker chase scene, driving through a lot of rough terrain, and speeding across the country side to escape the cops at at least 80 MPH! My point is how does *4 gallons of gas* last a gas guzzler van like that the time between its refueling and eventual destruction!? Another sin I would like to add is how Barely’s van shows no signs of damage after smacking a rock face, falling 30-40 feet onto its roof, and then getting buried in an avalanche

I loved every minute of that movie, it was really emotional for me. And the dynamic duo that is Tom Holland and Chris Pratt were perfect for the roles. With that aside, I'd love to see you do Trolls World Tour. Now that movie needs to be sinned big time

Watching this video in place of the movie is the stupidest thing you could do in that situation. not only does he usualy cut out most of the good parts of the movie, he skips scenes or talks over dialog that would make his sin pointless. This movie is one of the better disney movies in recent history, with a amazing story of family. Almost everything he sinned in this movie was pointless if he hadnt cut out the things explaining the relationships and the kind of life the brothers had beforehand.

I think it's more of a balancing act for media at this point. Since if you mention it once you can be called lazy. If you try to make it more clear then a mention you get chastised for "shoving it in people's faces" I'm frankly just happy that the voice actor did that and no one in the studio had a problem with it being in the movie
"Fairy" is usually synonymous with "Pixie," but "Faerie" is a larger group that includes pixies. Faeries of all varieties are absolutely terrifying, but pixies are basically just intelligent bees. Go watch Shadiversity's video on the best weapons for a fairy and you will learn true fear. That or you will laugh uncontrollably when you realize that an exacto-knife is a perfectly deadly weapon in their tiny hands that proportionately looks like a Buster Sword.
Why do people constantly say that Narration is a bad thing, Its contantly used in every form of media because it is a useful way of giving the audience the needed information in a short amount of time instead of taking half the movie to show the things happening.

Something I realized watching this... Magic was supposed to be so hard people made technology. But a wimpy kid with the help of his geek brother and his board game is able to master a bunch of (presumably high level too) spells within 24 hours. What dedicated mages needed extensive classes and practice and whatever for months to years to do well at, all these two needed was reading off of cards. Darn chosen ones with personal quests being special.
This all just felt very... basic. Not a bad movie, but the idea wasn’t that creative and the movie just felt very expected and bland. It was the mother of cliches movie

From what I understand, or at least on paper, the LGBT community has been seen as "abnormal" for decades, and they want to be accepted and treated normally, as any other straight person would be. So if Pixar went too far out of their way to show a character is gay, that might make it too much and single them out, making them different from everyone else, whereas the way they did it they mentioned it casually as if it's an everyday, normal topic, which, again, from what I understand is what the community wants. I could be mistaken, so don't hate on me if I'm wrong, but I thought Pixar did a good job doing it.

I actually really liked the conclusion of Ian giving up his time with his father so his brother could properly say goodbye. Ian realized not everything is about himself.

@Coconut Pal They never directly suggest that a spell can be completed properly after you botch it, and the spell says it only needs 1 phoenix gem, so it should logically be a second casting of the spell when they re-cast it.
Using D&D as a reference, reanimating someone costs 1 diamond, using a second diamond to re-cast the spell after somehow failing the first time would just count as a second separate casting, and they are clearly using D&D as the framework for this spell (at least the material requirements).
As Coconut Pal said, the gem was just for completing the spell. It was the spell that would vanish after the sun set.

The ending of this movie had my fiance and I tearing up. My fiance hardly ever gets emotional during movies, so that's saying a lot. We didn't think we'd enjoy the movie as much as we did. The trailers made it look okay, but not as great as it actually was, hence why I didn't bother seeing it in theaters. It sucks when trailers don't hype up the audience. This movie is a gem. Plus, my fiance is a dedicated D&D player, so he got a ton of laughs out of all the references. :)

The history is interesting, so I highly recommend learning about it. I was a teen when those movies first came out and I really liked them, especially Treasure Planet. It's good they're getting the recognition they deserve. They weren't blockbusters by any means, but they still had a lot of great animation, good characters, a solid story, and a memorable OST.

One of the biggest nitpicks my brother and I have/pointed out and calculated either mid movie or after it (my brother and I were watching it in an imax theatre alone right before corona shut down movie theaters) The nitpick is about the distance traveled after they refuel the van and it comes in two parts:
1. The price of gas in movie at that station they visit is like 2.39/gal and Ian buys $10 (4.184 gallons) of gas for a *2 gallon Jerry can*
2. I also had to estimate the model Barely’s van mimics, the closest match I could determine is a 1986 Chevy G10 Shorty Van, equipped with a 5.0 Liter V8 and a fuel efficiency of 14-17. It goes through the whole pixie biker chase scene, driving through a lot of rough terrain, and speeding across the country side to escape the cops at at least 80 MPH!
My point is how does *4 gallons of gas* last a gas guzzler van like that the time between its refueling and eventual destruction!?
Another sin I would like to add is how Barely’s van shows no signs of damage after smacking a rock face, falling 30-40 feet onto its roof, and then getting buried in an avalanche

Watching this video in place of the movie is the stupidest thing you could do in that situation. not only does he usualy cut out most of the good parts of the movie, he skips scenes or talks over dialog that would make his sin pointless. This movie is one of the better disney movies in recent history, with a amazing story of family. Almost everything he sinned in this movie was pointless if he hadnt cut out the things explaining the relationships and the kind of life the brothers had beforehand.

The "my girlfriend's daughter" is so forced. No one says that. They'd just say *MY* daughter, or in this case, "I just became a parent" etc. They just had to add the girlfriend in there so people would get that she was gay.

I think it's more of a balancing act for media at this point. Since if you mention it once you can be called lazy. If you try to make it more clear then a mention you get chastised for "shoving it in people's faces" I'm frankly just happy that the voice actor did that and no one in the studio had a problem with it being in the movie

"Fairy" is usually synonymous with "Pixie," but "Faerie" is a larger group that includes pixies.
Faeries of all varieties are absolutely terrifying, but pixies are basically just intelligent bees. Go watch Shadiversity's video on the best weapons for a fairy and you will learn true fear. That or you will laugh uncontrollably when you realize that an exacto-knife is a perfectly deadly weapon in their tiny hands that proportionately looks like a Buster Sword.

Why do people constantly say that Narration is a bad thing, Its contantly used in every form of media because it is a useful way of giving the audience the needed information in a short amount of time instead of taking half the movie to show the things happening.

I think narration can be sorta cringe sometimes,in certain movie's. But it's still better than having it explained later on in the movie for 30 minute's.
Something I realized watching this... Magic was supposed to be so hard people made technology. But a wimpy kid with the help of his geek brother and his board game is able to master a bunch of (presumably high level too) spells within 24 hours. What dedicated mages needed extensive classes and practice and whatever for months to years to do well at, all these two needed was reading off of cards. Darn chosen ones with personal quests being special.

This all just felt very... basic. Not a bad movie, but the idea wasn’t that creative and the movie just felt very expected and bland. It was the mother of cliches movie

9:22 I think this is actually the best way to do it. From what I understand, or at least on paper, the LGBT community has been seen as "abnormal" for decades, and they want to be accepted and treated normally, as any other straight person would be. So if Pixar went too far out of their way to show a character is gay, that might make it too much and single them out, making them different from everyone else, whereas the way they did it they mentioned it casually as if it's an everyday, normal topic, which, again, from what I understand is what the community wants. I could be mistaken, so don't hate on me if I'm wrong, but I thought Pixar did a good job doing it.
