- Unboxing what may be the coolest knife in the world...the Microtech Combat Troodon Bounty Hunter! This is the full size combat OTF with a 3.8" double-action blade in M390. The price is absurd, but it has to be explored to see if it really is as cool as I want it to be!
This video is not meant as a review, but rather just an unboxing and initial thoughts and impressions. More specs and details will follow in the Final Diagnosis!

Love most of your knives and reviews. I'm an old (in my 50's) guy that likes traditional (drop point etc) looking blades. I don't know what to make of that. But, it would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff.
That Southern Grind is a great looking knife along with most of the others..
This is a crazy knife. Like I said, just for fun. I also prefer the drop points etc, but sometimes you need to go crazy.

Yeah, Microtech can actually put out some really high quality knives. If they didn't have some of the odd design quirks they did I would have several. Really looking forward to a new production Socom Elite!
Always didn’t like aluminum scale or bodies because they dent easy but in this case it works.
I like it...but $825.00 to $850.00 I have the ultratech BH.. looks like they didn’t beat that one up to bad. The hellhound blade locks up snappy. I love it. Nice job 👍. Thanks for sharing your videos

I think it is the coolest knife I’ve ever seen. But other then that Microtechs are the coolest knives there are. I want this and it’s still available on a couple of Microtech shops (blade ops) for $785. I told my wife if she wants to buy the iPhone X then I get this knife. But you could buy 3 quality knives for the same $ yet none will be as aesthetically pleasing as this bad boy.

That’s hilarious you guys are surprised at this price when this troodon is by FAR the lowest price point I’ve seen from any the customs..any decent Halo or troodon from the Marf is 1k ☝🏻 to 6k. You got a smokin deal as far as I’m concerned.. great choice ; it’s refreshing to see a purchase for fun rather than constant cheap purchases for functionality or utility. You Only live once boys and girls, you may never see tomorrow -so go ahead and live a little and treat your self to the some of the offerings these master craftsmen of the future have put out for us. Stop being so guilty for crying out loud. Nothing worth it is ever cheap for the most part. You are 100% right my friend. YOLO. If you think of this as a semi-custom, the price can be justified. The quality is excellent, and there is very little to no real blade play.

You would think being these knives are made for the most part self defense so most people conceal carry them that by now they would of come up with some kind of cap or something for the glass breaker at the end of it so it doesn’t dig into your skin when carrying and when you need it just pop the cap off and use it lol. I’m sure microtech could make a cap that would look really fucking good to bc they are really good at designing weird thing and making them look badass lol

I can't believe it makes the Gavko look positively gray, but there you go. I always forget how big these things are until you pull out hunks like that Hoback or Zieba. After being married for 30 years, I'm totally into knives that _don't_ look like this. FE did a knife that looked all rusted - and I said that looks like about half of my tools that my wife got her hands on. She could make a perfectly anodized knife look like this in an afternoon. But hey, if it gives you the giggles... That's what the hobby is all about.

Yeah, this was totally an impulse buy. But I wanted to experience the full size OTF, and what better way than this GREEN model! Plus, I love Boba Fett haha!
I own a Scarab. I like the Scarab because it’s made to take in water, and has drain holes. I also like the smaller size, and the glass breaker is a reasonable size 😊. I don’t really carry mine much either. My Scarab goes for $535! I got it in a trade though and really made out well. I think most Microtechs are overpriced, although they’re well made🤑. You definitely have yourself a cool 😎 knife there FF👻🔥🔥🔥

That knife is pretty awesome and I'm not into star wars. I would say that for otf at half the price i would take the infidel. Also like many have mentioned Chinese knifes aren't bad at 5% the cost. Clones not counterfeit. Also where i live knife laws are pretty relaxed but something like that will still cause issues.
They are counterfeit. They are copying another companies product and selling it. Save up to buy the actual brand or buy a different option if you don't want to spend that much. There is no excuse to buy fakes.

They really need to include something to replace the spikes. I like double action otf knives, but they don't have much practical use.
If you remove the spike, you’d be removing the glass breaker, which would make the knife even less practical.
Define practical. I use mine all the time for utility along with it being as a secondary defense weapon
Is the deployment button really tight on yours? I recently purchased a combat troodon warhound and it takes so much strength to deploy it that my thumb and hand tendons feel strained upon opening/ closing.

German, so we "like" our rules here. Automatics and Balis were made illegal weapons in ~'04, since alot of irresponsible teens carried them in public. Even normal locking one handed opening knives are illegal in public, but I think I'm good with those since I only carry mine to and from work, and at work my boss is fine with it since the building/area isn't public property.

I am so close to submitting my order for this exact same knife at the same price on Blade HQ right now. This is Microtech, a Combat Troodon combined with Star Wars...only a matter of time before it is sold out everywhere, even at this price point. That said I am still hesitating on hitting that confirm button on my order...$785 is ALLOT for a knife. So, what do you think? Any buyers remorse since picking up yours or is this truly the most bad ass knife ever and worth the money?
My only buyer's remorse was the DNA extractor but Microtech took care of that.
Generally speaking, the more outrageous a knife is the more fun it is. More $$$ than I can justify for a knife I'm not allowed to carry in this state. I have a permit to carry a concealed gun but not a auto knife.........go figure.

Microtech is making me a custom Bounty Hunter Glass Breaker to replace the DNA Catcher. That thing is painful during pocket carry.

I received the new Glass Breaker. It is a perfect color match to the DNA Extractor and definitely makes it possible to carry.
I am buying a CT BH and am very interested to hear more about your new glass breaker... can you get me some more info?
I contacted Microtech and Brooke Erickson had them make it for me. I had to send in a check for $30 and received it within a week. It was definitely worth it.

Doc- Not my pick for an OTF, but I can see its appeal. I know many people hate clones, but this knife is an example of a great justification for them. $785 for this knife is beyond outrageous. There is nothing about this knife that justifies that crazy price. Aluminum and M390 should't cost anywhere near that much. Microtech is just begging to be cloned at that price. I'm talking knock-offs, not counterfeits that have the Microtech logo. Those are a total rip-off and wrong. You can get a decent OTF for one-tenth that price on Chinese sites. Microtech seems to be out of touch with that price and most of their other prices.
I agree, the price is outrageous on this one. IMHO, nothing justifies clones. But people want this, and the price is too high. They could just sell 4x as much for 1/4 price. It think this is a talk for Tony himself.

The vast majority of -morons- politicians are convinced that the springs in these knives could open a garage door. You just place the knife against somebody, and open it up into their liver. I'm sure they saw it in a movie. These and Balisongs scare the daylights out of people, where a 11" fixed blade doesn't get a second thought.

Microtech is overrated. I feel like they do get more credit than they deserve. For autos I put it in this order from best to worst brands in my opinion.
