I use my snapmount on my Corvette. I live in a non front license plate state, so I made a small metal plate for the front using two of the bolts under the nose. When I get to the location I want to film, just pop the GoPro on the plate and I’m all set. I also use a suction mount on the back quarter panel for a side view.

The vacuum suction mount was designed for moving large glass sheets. There is a 3 suction mount version with a 75mm half ball to mount a movie camera to s car. Each 4.5"cup is held down by 230 lbs of sir pressure so it's not moving. More varied gear reviews seems to be where your heart is now, and you need to be home for wife and kids at this time

Maybe something highlighting what can/can't be done with an older model vs newer? I know it's hard to look back but I know I've often felt like if you own gear more than 12 months old you're being left in the dust a bit and as a general consumer there's no way we can keep up with latest models etc. So something like maybe how does a GP8 or 7 stand up I'm current times in comparison with a GP10? Firmware updates and their impact on older models (can they kinda keep up) or even third party firmware updates? You're the pro man, that's why we watch you 😆

9:48 You could use your $20 Apple cloth to wipe the side of the car 😂
PSA: You can actually get ticketed in California for mounting on your windshield like that. "California drivers can mount a GPS device or smartphone holder on their vehicles' windshield as long as it's positioned in a five-inch square in the lower corner nearest to the driver or in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield on the passenger side". Of course, "can" and "will" are two separate things.

Dude, you need to check out a Three Footed Monster mount. I film offroad TV shows for a living. The 3 footed monster has completely changed how we get action camera shots. It is so versatile. (I am not affiliated) it's just a mount that works. It just works. No caveat. Slap it on, align your shot and go. We use them everyday, Great Aussie innovation. Check it out.

    • @phranque2781

Seriously NOTHING has come close to performing like a 3 footed monster. We have tried all the suction mounts, all the magnetic mounts. We have a job to do and do not care less for brands that say they can do what they claim. We require what works. That's it. The 3 footed monster ticks every box for us. It has done for the last 2 years and will continue into this upcoming season of filming our show. It just works. (Once again I am not affiliated in any way, but man do I love supporting a product that we use daily (and paid full price for))

I have the Snap Mounts and although they are quite pricey, they do stick quite well. However, I tried your shaking the camera and it did fall off. I do have the GoPro media and light mod on though. I guess the more weight, the less the magnet works.
Keep in mind, there are different bike sea suckers for cars. I think they come as 3 per bike.
All in all, I do recommend Snap Mounts. Not sure about Sea Sucker because in Canada, it is well over $100 without tax and duty. So…very pricey. Snap Mounts in Canada is $80-$90 dollars, so, still pricey but I do love it.

I would like to see a video quality comparison between Hero 7 Black and the Hero 10 Black. The reason why is that I've now had two different Hero 10 Black cameras that produce horrible quality video compared to my Hero 7 Black cameras. I use the GoPro Hero 7 (and hopefully 10) to film things I'm doing while bench testing a product or working on a car. The two Hero 10 Black cameras that I've had so far produce inferior quality video in 4K/2.7K/1080p 30 fps. I'm waiting for GoPro to send me the third Hero 10 Black to see if this can be resolved.

They have the Snap Media Mod up on their page, but it looks like they're sold out again. I think they're having a tough time keeping them in stock. As for the GoPro, that's super interesting! I haven't heard anyone having quality issues on the Hero 10. My Hero 10 and Hero 7 have a pretty drastic difference in quality. Maybe I'll film a quick side by side and post to my Instagram👍

@@DavidManningvlog I contacted SNAP right after getting my Hero 10 and the Media Mod (a few months ago). The pointed me to the page on their site for the pre production media mod mount, but it's been out of stock ever since then.
My Hero 7 vs Hero 10 comparison is mainly using it in my filming studio filming B-roll. The best (worst) example of the Hero 10 creating low quality video vs the Hero 7 was when I had it pointed at a box with some thin lined artwork on the side of a box or the backdrop (wood grained) of my filming desk. The Hero 7 footage was in focus and decent quality the Hero 10 footage looked out of focus and some of the lined artwork on the side of the box looked like someone had tried to erase it with a pencil eraser. Multiple settings were tried but nothing corrected the issue (bitrate, sharpness, resolutions, fps). I'm waiting for my second replacement Hero 10 to arrive.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my comment. I love watching your videos!

$70 (Amazon) seems a bit pricey for the Snap Mount. Have you tried any competitors?
What I want to see for 2022... Best camera for non-action. ie. What would set up at a bird feeder, or for capturing bobcats in your back yard, or for a 3 hours hike. Seems like the Gopro and Insta360 will over heat after 15 - 20 minutes. Tried a game camera for the backyard and it was not user friendly and everything looked far away.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the snap mounts? Sold them shortly after I started using them. They make the Gopro huge and I don't like how far it sticks out from whatever I'm mounting it on. The convenience changing mounts was nice, but they are just not for me.

    • @DavidManningvlog
      @DavidManningvlog  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I could totally see that John! They're for sure a tool that help speed up switching between mounts quickly, so if that's not an issue that you're trying to solve, then they wouldn't be a ton of help👍

You’ve helped me with questions in the past. & One more thing, if Yes, would you do the deal straight from the GoPro website? Glad you’re All doing well! 😊

Great question Jewely Pix! For me, upgrading gear has to be for a reason. Meaning when I'm trying to make something a certain way and my gear is stopping me, then I upgrade. The Hero 7 is still a great camera, but if your'e looking to upgrade, then 100% the Hero 10 is the way to go. The Hero 9 has some issues that have been helped by firmware updates, but the Hero 10 is a really solid camera 👍

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't like Snap Mounts. For me, it's too bulky and I absolutely hate that it's off-center, making it front-heavy. Nit-picky I'm sure, but I was really bummed when I tried using the first few times. Now it collects dust.

I used to do bodywork/collision work on vehicles. Sometimes we'd have to do paint correction because bird poop would be left on a car's paint too long, saliva does have acidic properties and can damage paint :(
