In this post we are going to see the history of Goddess Mahagauri. Devi Mahagauri..... The eighth form of Goddess Durga is called Mahagauri. She is called Ambigai on the eighth day of Navratri.
On Durkashtami, the eighth day of Navratri, we worship Goddess Durga in the form of 'Maha Gauri'. Mother Mahagauri in Navdurgai She is considered a very beautiful form. Maha means great. Gauri means pure. She is called Maha Gauri because she is very white. Goddess Maha Gauri is also known as Shvetambaradhara because she wears pure white clothes. She is also known as Vrisharuta because she owns the bull vehicle.
She has four arms. She carries a trident in one hand and an udukaki in the other. Her other two hands bless the devotee.
She is in 'Swadhisthana' in the body chakras. Those who worship her get health and wealth. If we get her grace, our life will spring.
According to the Puranas, Sati Devi was born on earth as the daughter of King Himavan, after self-destruction in Daksha Velvi. Goddess Parvati did severe penance for thousands of years to reach Lord Shiva again. Regardless of sun, rain and cold, Goddess Parvati's mane lost its luster and turned dark.
Mahesan, pleased with the severe penance of the goddess, appeared before her. Goddess Parvati bathed her in the Ganges to regain her lost lustre.
As a result, the body of the goddess shone white like the moon. Hence Goddess Parvati was called Mahagauri by Lord Shiva.
The word Gauri in Sanskrit means bright, white or beautiful. Maha Gauri means very bright, very white, or very beautiful.
இந்த பதிவில் தேவி மகாகௌரியின் தேவியின் வரலாற்றை நாம் காணவிருக்கிறோம்.
தேவி மகாகௌரி..... துர்க்காதேவியின் ஒன்பது வடிவங்களில் எட்டாவது வடிவம் மகாகௌரி என்று அழைக்கபடுகிறாள். இவள் நவராத்திரியின் எட்டாம் நாளுக்குறிய அம்பிகையாவாள்.
நவராத்திரியின் எட்டாம் நாளாம் துர்காஷ்டமியில் துர்க்கா தேவியை 'மகாகௌரி' என்ற ரூபத்தில் நாம் வழிபடுகின்றனர். அன்னை மஹாகௌரி நவதுர்கைகளில்
மிகவும் அழகான வடிவமாக கருதப்படுகிறாள்.
மகா என்றால் பெரிய என்று பொருள். கௌரி என்றால் தூய்மையான எனப் பொருள். இவள் மிகுந்த வெண்மையாக இருப்பதால் மகா கௌரி எனப்படுகிறாள்.
தேவி மகா கௌரி தூய்மையான வெண்ணிற ஆடையை அணிந்திருப்பதால் ஸ்வேதாம்பரதரா என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறார்.
இவள் வெண்ணிற காளையை வாகனமாக கொண்டிருக்கிறாள்.
காளையை வாகனமாக கொண்டிருப்பதால் விருஷாருதா என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள்.
இவள் நான்கு திருக்கரங்களை கொண்டவள். ஒரு கரத்தில் திரி சூலத்தையும், மறு கரத்தில் டமருகத்தையும் தங்கி இருக்கிறாள். இவளது மற்ற இரு கரங்கள் பக்தருக்கு அபயம் அளிக்கும் வகையில் உள்ளன. இவள் உடல் சக்கரங்களில் 'ஸ்வாதிஷ்டானத்திற்குறியவளாக இருக்கிறாள்.
இவளை வழிபடுபவர்களுக்கு உடல் ஆரோக்கியமும், செல்வ செழிப்பும் கிடைக்கும். இவளின் அருள் கிட்டினால் நம் வாழ்வு வசந்தமாகும்.
புராணவரலாற்றின்படி தக்ச வேள்வியில் சதி தேவி தன்னை தானே அழித்துகொண்டபிறகு மன்னன் ஹிமவானின் மகளாக பூமியில் பிறந்தாள். பார்வதி தேவி சிவபெருமானை மீண்டும் அடைவதற்காக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ஆண்டுகள் கடும் தவம் புரிந்தாள்.
வெயில், மழை, பணி, குளிர் என எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் தவத்தில் மூழ்கியிருந்த பார்வதி தேவியின் மேனி பொலிவிழந்து கருமை நிறமாகியது. தேவியின் கடும்தவத்தால் மனம் மகிழ்ந்த மகேசன் அவள் முன் தோன்றினார். பார்வதி தேவி இழந்த பொலிவை மீண்டும் பெருவதற்காக அவளை கங்கையில் நீராட்டினார்.
இதனால் தேவியின் உடல் சந்திரனை போல வெண்மை நிறமாக பிரகாசித்தது. இதனால் சிவபெருமானால் பார்வதி தேவி மகாகௌரி என அழைக்கப்பட்டாள்.
சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் கௌரி என்ற சொல்லானது பிரகாசமான, வெண்மையான அல்லது அழகான என பல அர்தங்களை தருகிறது. மகா கௌரி என்றால் மிகவும் பிரகாசமான, மிகவும் வெண்மையான, அல்லது மிகவும் அழகான எனபொருள்படுகிறது.
