Can we PLEASE get a video of you using the 22tcm on a ballistic dummy labs dummy? Im so curious to see what it does with the hydrostatic shock. I would do it, but I don’t have enough disposable income to buy a torso with a head.
P.s. it would be interesting to see the torso with and without level 2 armor!!
For everyone that wondering, the ballistics zombie torso cost $2700
Holy shit really?
That's preposterous

@@nightcat87 Who in their right mind would shoot their gun? They're valuable objects. You should never use them as targets. 🤣
@@PrimericanIdolfor $2700 for a torso you might as well shoot a gun lol
This might be the most important lethality test I've ever seen. Aside from some of the range tests, I typically watch purely for entertainment. This is one that's actually important for my decision-making. It's good to know that you can increase your ammo count and still be pretty devastating if they're not wearing a lot of clothing.
I'd say mini shells are definitely a viable round as long as your tool will run them. Great video, as always.
Might be even lethal 😉
The whole point of a shotgun is max payload, maximum one shot stop potential. These mini shells do the opposite.
@user-mv7bb2ls3l That's why I said "viable" as opposed to optimal.
@user-mv7bb2ls3l agreed. Never seen the interest in them
@@Kinetic.44Maybe for you. Most people want the versatility of the shotgun. My son only owns 1 gun, a Mossberg 500. He can hunt with birdshot. He can shoot slugs like a rifle. He can use buckshot for self defense. Hell I just wish that they had the 590s when I bought his shotgun.
For those that already have Mossberg 500, 500A, 500B, 500AB... As long as there are grooves in bottom of receiver in front of trigger assembly at the shell loading port you can install a DEFENDER TACTICAL CARTRIDGE ADAPTER it will allow your shotgun to cycle mini, 2-3/4" and 3" shells.
@defender tactical
Adapter? I shot all of those in my delta 88 fresh out of the box
The Defender Tactical Universal Shell Loader is definitely a better buy with a 590 Shockwave than the 590s Shockwave. That little piece on the 590s can pop off. And while the opsol adapter is cheap, it also must be taken out to use 2 3/4 or 3 inch shell. The defender tactical doesn't have to be taken out.
DELTA 88? Never heard of that one. That being said, WHERE are you finding 1.75 shells? Everytime I check, Bass Pro, Wally World, Academy, Sportsmans Warehouse, my local gun shops, NO ONE has anything! Even Federal's website shows out-of-stock. Aguila are just STOOPID expensive if you can fund them!
Btw, the Oppsol Adapter ain't cutting it. The Critical Defense full adapter kit is much better functioning BUT I have questions about longevity.
Aa I mentioned earlier, it's just better to skip these shot grip "novelties" and go with a standard shoulder stock shooting readily available and CHEAPER 2.75 loads.
My BEAR CREEK ARSENAL 7.5 AR Pistol in 300 AAC is my GO-TOO home defense now and will soon have a "can" to go with it.

@@jamesforehand8181I've had an affordable Mossberg Maverick 88 in 20 gauge since my 19th Birthday (I'm 34 now). I've only every shot 25 or 30 rounds through it. But I'm considering going and finally putting some rounds down range with it again (was taken aback by the felt recoil and had bad memories). I have 3 boxes of Remington #3 buckshot as well. I don't have slugs because I live in a townhouse and that seems nightmarish for me. I do keep a .40 next to my bed with 3 loaded magazines and mounted light/laser. But I think a long gun should be my go to if possible. I took off the 26" barrel and put on an 18.5" barrel. Gotta see how it runs.
@@Mr_Zimm I'm 78. I run #1 Buck in my 20 gauge Shockwave. Plenty of power.
I actually like that you used the mini #4 to see that deep penetration without pass-thru, makes for a more logical home defense when you live in a multi-unit complex. Most tell me to use my 9mm but I know that will punch through all kinds of stuff and worries me, and clearly so will even mini slugs lol.
The minishells are basically regular 2 3/4 shells without the cushion part of the wad. Ones I have shot did not feel like they had much less recoil, if they do it's maybe because they're only like 1200 fps versus 1600 fps of full size loads. I make my own minishells in 12 gauge and 20 gauge.

i like it. number 4 mini is great for keeping the down range safer in a neighborhood setting. Also i enjoy the thought of the doctor having to dig the rounds out of the perp. I want them to keep what i gave. Leave that hot metal in there to burn more.
Great video! Entertaining and informative. I think the mini shell slugs will penetrate more than a 2 3/4" because they're too slow to expand. They all worked well (except the birdshot). That #4 buckshot might be perfect for places where over penetration is a concern. Thanks for your efforts.
Buckshot may be one of my favorite rounds ever. Just love it
Would love to see this with different barriers like car windshield or a wood door, ect.
If by ect. you mean politicians im with you on that. Politician penetration test.
Paul Harrell showed how the Federal 1oz Shorty Slug was as powerful as a standard full size Remington 1oz Managed Recoil Slug (1200 FPS). So despite how small it looks, the Federal Shorty Slug is just a regular 12 Gauge Low Recoil Slug in a smaller size.
@@JohnB-dr8sk i keep my Shockwave stoked with mini slugs, holds 8 in the mag. They are lighter and a bit slower than a standard 2 3/4” slug but the ballistics on the Aquila slug equal out to the same as two 45 acp 230gr bullets hitting at the same time. I figure that should be sufficient for most social situations gone wrong.
@@martinswiney2192 “social situations gone wrong” 😂 I like that! Within conversation range no doubt
@@martinswiney2192 Those Aguilas are definitely powerful, though I believe they are 3 times more powerful than a 45 ACP based on 400 ft lbs of energy. The Federal Shorty Slugs put out 1400 ft lbs of energy and because they are the shortest of the all the mini-shells, you can put 9 in a Mossberg Shockwave or 500/88. But yeah, if those Aguila slugs are working for you they are also thumpers no doubt. I just like the Federal Shorties because of the ability to load 9 and I also find them a lot more accurate than the Aguilas.

I agree! Much more robust than the factory unit.
Paul Harrell mentioned by another person. He pretty much showed that birdshot can be used for home defense but only at short ranges. With his meat targets.
Even the hole this video shows that mini birdshot made would stop 99% of any threatening attackers,
and just might keep the Defender out of prison
But no this guy is going to use 3" 00 Buck, decimating the attacker and most anything behind them !
Home defense at short range. Im trying to Imagine a home SO big with rooms SO big that you need long range weapons
I've used birdshot on about every material you can imagine. It is absolutely not a good choice for home defense.
Better than nothing, I suppose, but relying on pain and surprise to protect you is a fools game.
@christopherbishop4927 That wasn't bird shot. Bird shot is absolutely pathetic unless you're putting your barrel basically against the target. If you're that close, you've already done a lot of things wrong and should probably use a better weapon.

They don't cycle well. They jam the gun.
@@mjohnson6703 They do if you use a Mossberg with a Defender Tactical shell adapter.
We need to see the explosive hollow point slugs with these tiny shells!
It's definitely the only way they would expand at fragment at this low velocity. They usually need 1600 fps to do their trick.
@@Kinetic.44hollow all-copper split bullets seem to open up at subsonic speeds
@@lekerstobalgo698 That is a good point, i was only talking about the standard 1 oz lead hollowpoint rifled Foster slug. The kind of slugs you are talking about are generally in a sabot require a rifled barrel for good accuracy, or at least a rifled choke tube, but not always with an attached wad design and the required accuracy standard in relation to your target size and distance.
I have the original 590s 20 inche/choke. Ran multiple shells and mix/match in the tube and never failed.
Great Video! I know I'm biased because I am, can't never go wrong with a Mossberg.
Cheers mate!
Awesome. I've been wondering this for awhile now.
Lucky gunner just did a test. In gel. On a few different loads.
Mini shells in pellets fall between 8-13” with most being 9-11” in clear gel.
You need 00 buckshot that doesn’t have those pre split pellets. The #4 buckshot was weak. The slug straight through both blocks.
That's nonsense. The #4 would cause a devastating wound that would drain you very quickly. These aren't 9mm baby bullets from a Glock.
I love the way you rack the slide. You look just like Sarah Connor in Terminator 2. So cool!
Never saw any info on mini shells and never tried them so cool to watch this
Love the videos. Definitely high quality content 💯
I just tonight found this video, thank you so much for posting it! I have the original Shockwave 590, and have always felt that it's real purpose is to be fired from the waist! As in close quarter combat... clearing buildings, moving in and out of hallways, around interior corners, naturally held at waist level for the mobility to do that. You aren't going to sweep a building with this gun held up to your head, so why would you take the extra time it takes, in a super quick life-or-death situation, to bring your Shockwave up to your head, aim, then fire? A shotgun is for close quarter engagement, if the target is maybe 20 ft from you, and you cannot hit it holding this gun at waist level, laser or not, maybe more practice with it is needed! And for home defense, I also think mini-shells are perfect. Much less chance of over penetration, and one or two 00 buckshot mini shells in an attacker will definately slow him down, let alone stop him!
Even with heavy clothing a close range hit with bird shot would be like taking a full swing of a sledge hammer to your chest.
Pretty good option. Thank you.
Dude, your videos are the best! Love it!
Well, I can see the benefit of the laser. Gonna get one. Great video!
May seem like a silly question, but, where is the laser mounted? Am I just blind 😅

I love the mini shells for home defense. Great video.
I am not into shotguns without a butt stock. I'm 65 and it works best for me to have a stock. I feel extremely confident operating that way. I was given one of the very first Mossberg's in 12ga that had a pistol grip and short barrel via a death in the family and the family was getting rid of the fellow's stuff. I found a folding stock with built in ammo carrier to replace the pistol grip. Replaced the fore end with one with a built-in light. Slapped a HiViz over the barrel sight on it. It is a decent little gun now. I use 00-buck 2&3/4 ammo. It works fine out to about 20-25yds for best results, more than what its purpose is. I get the utility of the mini shells. Were I in a situation where penetration was a critical concern, I would get a Mossberg made to handle those shells. It could be quite viable.
You might consider getting an adapter and loading minis for home defense in coming years. Great potency and low recoil.
@@bobjohnson1633 I live very rural in south Texas, 60 miles from the border. Regular shells are fine for this environment. It is my wife and myself. My nearest neighbor is way on down a dirt road.
@@sisleymichael I'm making the 9mm argument. It generally gets the job done, eventually, and it is easier to shoot, period. It also has a much higher capacity.
@@bobjohnson1633 I don't have a 9mm in a long gun. If folks have them and like them, that is great. I know they work. Budget constraints prevent new weapons purchases with cattle prices in the toilet. (the packing companies are making bank, go figure.) I have the shotgun, used them for decades, and never had recoil aversion issues. Nothing can dispense lethality like a shotgun at close ranges for in the house ranges. For outside on the ranch at night? I take an AR, with light, body armor, extra mags, and a G19 with a light, a couple extra mags.
I think I'll add that shotgun to my zombie apocalypse collection
Save some money and get a regular Shockwave and a Defender Tactical adapter.

Ay man we missed you, keep up the great work and keep doing what you move!
would you be willing to do a comparison between the different types of ballistic gel? there's archery blocks knife throwing gel the stuff for guns that spoils and has to be cold the clear stuff that doesn't spoil then the different densities. is there really any practical difference between them? there certainly is a cost difference.
Took one look at the woox furniture and had to have it. Just installed on my shockwave. Got a crimson trace laser and original power sling.
Great video thanks for sharing
Awesome demonstive video very informative 👍👍
Good work overall. I usually turn to Paul Harrell for these types of videos, but he doesn't take the mini shell or the Shockwave seriously. I've felt from the beginning that these could be very effective home defenders with the right ammo and the combination of the mini shell buck shot with the Shockwave platform is just about as good as you could ask for in a small home or apartment where over penetration could be an issue. I've also found that running a Weapon Mounted Light on the Shockwave platform is vital for target ID and also makes a wicked fast aiming aid after sundown. Much faster than the laser after dark.
Get both. I have both on my 590s shockwave. Green laser and streamlight fore end. Loaded with 8, #4 buck mini shells is a formidable home defense tool.
I use a laser with a dot-and-ring on my home shotgun. It has a light as a bonus, but it's way too bright in my opinion. Temporarily blinding myself at the same time I let an intruder know exactly where I am and give them a nice aiming point seems like a terrible idea.
I saw an "expert" who was showing how to clear your house and his method was to flash his light on and off really fast every time he reached a corner, which is about the dumbest thing you can possibly do. Ruin your night vision, put afterimages in it, and let intruders know you're coming and where you are all at once!
The shockwave and #4 buck minis are a combo that are made for each other.
It's a practical setup for home.
The minis are simple to handload too - just get a roll crimper and you can use a nail and a dowell to remove and re-seat a fresh primer.
In Cali the 14" barrel is verboten, but there's the 18.5"
My Sig Romeo Red Dot needs to be sent back for warranty work because it stopped
Thanks for the light ideal just bought a shockwave.
I don’t run lights on my firearms, because you have to point the weapon to use the light. If you were to hear a bump in the night, and use your weapon mounted light, you are automatically engaging your target, and if it’s not a foe(like a roommate, or family member), even if you don’t shoot them, it can be considered menacing. Mas Ayoob covers that subject on the Wilson Combat channel, and has strongly recommended against weapon lights for many years.
Pretty cool idea. Do cut shells next compared to their non cut counter parts
You was having a lot of fun that day🎉🎉
Thank You for the great demo And the discount code for the Woox hardware!
How much different is the recoil between the shot and full-size shells?
Its a BIG difference!
Those shockwave shotguns are fun range toys but choosing one for home defense would be a terrible idea unless you live in a phone booth. That high dollar wood stock version is definitely cool looking.
Are you stupid? With a little bit of practice my TAC-13’s are handier than my longer guns in close quarters.
I run it with a demonstrated concepts grip strap and high rise red dot.
Almost as terrible as not having one. Any firearm is a force multiplier over hands.
@@ltx383 You're missing the point. If you need a home defense weapon, and most should, the Shockwave is a terrible choice. Any reliable, inexpensive full stock shotgun is a far, far, far better choice if you want a shotgun for that purpose. Personally I think an AR is a better choice but others prefer shotguns. It's fine to have a Shockwave style shotgun but it shouldn't be your primary HD gun and should be purchased after you've purchased a good home defense gun.
@@brandiwynterCall of Duty has made everyone an expert on home defense. The point is would you rather take on an intruder with your bare fist or a shockwave? You have what you have not what the best choice is.
@@ltx383 my point exactly, it's better than a sharp stick but way worse than a shoulder mounted shotgun. If you're going to buy a gun for home defense, choose the best option possible. Choosing a Shockwave over an 870 or any host of similar shotguns is a very bad idea. By all means buy one as your second gun if you want but don't buy one as your first choice for defense because they are much, much better choices for that use. The shockwave is better than nothing but it's still a really bad choice for home defense so when videos make them seem otherwise it's worth mentioning that they are not.
Oh and FYI, I've never played call of duty. I learned what I know as a police officer doing real building searches looking for real bad guys with real guns and in real life it's real scary. You don't want a hip fired short shotgun with poor accuracy and even worse ammo capacity when your life and the life of your family is in danger.

Won’t change much.
Great video, I enjoyed it as much as you 😊
Well done young man 👍
The point blank shots look cool, but it really doesn't illustrate penetration, I'd like to see this same test at 25 and 50 yards to see the energy and penetration at distance. I have mini slugs and buckshot, but I would not consider using them for serious situations.
He's testing them for close range self defense in the home, not hunting, not as a duty round.
The shot rounds are absolutely pathetic at range. The payload is too small and pattern density sucks. The slugs are what they are....lighter and slower. So less effective range, less kinetic energy and less penetration. They are nothing more than something to play with at the range. As my comment above says, You're giving up a portion of the reason for choosing a shotgun to begin with.....power! Same goes for these stupid little stockless "shotguns" they give up not only power, but also the ability to get fast accurate shots on target.
You guys know what a shotgun choke is?
@@Kinetic.44 do you know chokes aren't meant for buckshot?
This weapon isn’t intended to take shots at 25 to 50 yards lol. Most won’t take those shots with a full length barrel. This is an up and close tool.

What you displayed with the mini-slug was a hit execution 😂😂😂
This is the video I’ve been wanting to see for the last 6 months.
Just to be clear, birdshot at that close of range will be a devastating round to your attacker. Never underestimate any kind of shot in a shotgun shell.

Mini shells are a range toy and a gimmick. You're giving up a portion the major reason for choosing a 12 gauge to begin with. That's power! The other reason for me to totally dismiss them for any serious use is they're unreliable in almost every gun. I don't care what everyone is going to say, the only gun I've ever seen cycle them with even marginal reliability was a friends 500 with the adapter and it still was finicky.
