Thank you! Personally I would never go Orthodox. They have their own problems, and I just think they are wrong on several things. And anyway, the Latin rite is my home.

Have faith brother, especially as a Trad Catholic you should know - we have the true faith.
Even Vatican 2 states this, saying anyone who leaves the Church with full knowledge that we have the seat of Peter is anathema. Persevere, despite what’s going on. Our Lord didnt coward away in the sight of the Cross, after suffering the abandonment of Gethsemani and the horrors of the scourging, the thorns and the mocking, the falling and carrying of the cross. Nor should we leave with false teachers or false doctrine because Christ is still Lord, we are still His flock.
@@carll6023 - you've convinced me! it's Orthodoxy all the way! leaving a Church whose Bishop of Bishops has lost the Faith and joining the 2,000 Church that hasn't is not cowardly, it is following Christ Our Lord. guess what? Orthodox bishops DON'T suppress the Orthodox Liturgy! Orthodox bishops don't mock the Orthodox for being Orthodox! as a Catholic this kind of thing is a new experience. the Orthodox Church is NOT a Church of false teachers and doctrines. you think a Catholic in this day and age can throw stones at the Orthodox? if anything is 'anathema' it is the See of Rome for the last 60 years. and (thanks be to God) the Orthodoxy never inserted the filioque into the Creed.

Don’t be tempted to go Orthodox. They have pretty vestments and a nice liturgy, but ultimately their ecclesiology is just wrong and they are just constantly having schism with each other over the most minute and ridiculous of things. It is also a religion very much fractured down Ethnic lines. As well as their rejection if the immaculate conception.
Sadly we are also divided in church. Pray for pope, bishops, cardinals, priests. Devil strongly attacking our church.
Mr. Winters wouldn't adore my favorite popes because they died long before my birth, and Vatican II began when I was about a year old. Let's hear it for Blessed Pope Pius IX and Popes Leo XIII, Pius XI, and St. Pius X. For me, it's hard to admire any pontiff who ruled the Church after 1958.
Thank you for your thorough, and fair critique of Winters article. As little as Winters claims supports his argument against the USCCB's newly elected leader, the same claims can better be said to demonstrate Winters personal agenda. Quite obvious, too, Winters has ignored recent verified facts which contradict his argument in substantiation for unjustly demonizing Catholics (and anyone else) for exercising their freedom of conscience.

Cardinal Angelo Sodano certainly represented a pre--conciliar vision of "Holy Mother Church" insofar as he imitated Pius XII in spreading disinformation about the message of Our Lady of Fatima. He was instrumental in the release of the bogus "third secret" in 2000.
But I don't think that is what the author is driving at here.
+JMJ. Winters spews politics and accusations and therefore spreads division and discord rather than instills the holy Catholic and apostolic faith. Sad that National Catholic Register publishes his statements. Pray for him.
