6:31 this part gets me. He anticipates a drum fil, throws one off and 4 seconds later has already revised it and does a 2nd broader drum fill, and then again a few seconds later. It's still not Shannon's drum line, but he's just following the vocal line. 3 revisions, blind, in 16 measures.
Enjoyed the reaction. A lot of people don’t understand the musical background of it and they sit there and go this is amazing. You have knowledge of music and it shows really how amazing it is in this reaction
I was on the Point to write the same comment. It's the best, most instructive reaction i ever saw on that video. You explain well how he anticipates, adapts to the band, and so perfectly nailed it.
@@setonhillstudiosI know its outside your realm but im still waiting on a reaction to Ryan Adams - Tomorrow live in Sweden (description of vid adds the cintext needed) love you to be the one lol otherwise - Nine Inch Nails have a song called The Perfect Drug. Theres a huge drum interlude that was programmed in 1998. Its only last year they found a drummer willing and able to play it live @setonhillstudios

That part. I've seen so many reactors say it's 6/8 and then proceed to count 6/8 to prove it, although it doesn't match up with the song. Yes, 6/8 is just a "simplified" 3/4 But that's the whole point. In "simplifying it" the last 1/2 beat kind of gets lost. Which is why a waltz is different from the John Phillips Sousa march. Even though technically, going by your take, they have the same time. It's fun when you don't fall asleep in Music Theory class, isn't it. The song is in 3. Chad called it from the beginning. And this reactor sat there proving they didn't even pay attention in class.
@setonhillstudios i think he is way past the need to prove himself xD. Also he has way more experience then most others who are younger so this stuff comes even more natural to him
@@setonhillstudios You bet! Again, quite depressing but all actors put in absolutely unbelievable performances! Great reaction! You have a new subscriber!
My current favorite rock band The Warning has a great drummer, in a Chad Smith style, not super technical, but hits like the drums like they owe her money and with an incredible stage presence, her name is Paulina "Pau"(pronounced Pow) Villarreal. A good place to start is their live performance of their song Dust To Dust from the Teatro Metropolitan show, that's on their TH-cam channel.
You should check out him playing on the Dua Lipa track. Not difficult, but he is hilarious while playing. Or check out Megadeaths drummer Dirk do Mr Brightside. I think he does a better job of making the song more intensive/emotional.
So the number on top is what you count to basically and the number on the bottom is what note gets the count. For instance and eighth note versus a quarter note. Many times it’s how you “feel” it. I know that’s not a great explanation but Mike Johnston has some great videos on it. 👍🏻
How bout don't watch reaction videos if you don't want the song paused. Go watch some Boring ass human stare for 5 minutes then say thanks for watching
@@setonhillstudios oh absolutely he's a master, I'm just saying it's not feel as much as actually listening. The feel is the automatic playing, the listening is knowing when changes are coming in an improv situation.

Yessss!!! That was sick!! 🔥🔥
Chad's been drumming his whole life and it really shows. Absolute beast with his skill and knowledge.
💯…..we are watching a lifetime of hard work and dedication! Thanks for checking out the video
Jarod and Shannon Leto confirmed it's 3/4 in a video short reaction.

This drum cover is haunting to me. Purely because I spent probably a Month learning it back in the day 😂. Great input sir.

Btw, Chad is 62 and still playing like a beast. 🤘
That is amazing and inspiring. I feel old sometimes at 38 🤣😂🤣
Whats crazy is that he just went for it without first listening to the track first.
All others took notes and listened a few times
💯 I think that was cool cause he wasn't trying to prove anything. He was just like...."let's roll'

@@julianviefers6703 Great point! I completely agree
I love RHCP, and this drumming is great. It's so much fun to watch new interpretations from excellent musicians.
He's past 60, not in his 50's.
Still getting it in his 60s! Such a great performance by Chad! Thanks for hanging out! 🥁
Awesome singer,decent actor,terrible Joker.
😂😂😂 Fair enough! Hard to do it all!
His Joker scene in Justice League Snyder Cut was crazy good tho.
@@smokeychickenwings1038 I haven’t seen it but I would like to check it out. I’ve heard mixed reviews on it
Never saw him as the Joker, but he was amazing in Requiem For A Dream! Unbelievable movie, yet quite depressing.

Besides the visuals in the cameo I don't know enough about Leto's Joker to decide.
I hear ya! Yeah me neither, BUT the opportunity to play the Joker is cool in itself! Have a great one! 🤙🏻
Chad Smith really blew my mind with this one. Hes such a groovy player imo
Oh no doubt! When him and Flea lock in together it’s something special! Crazy how he killed this in one take too! Filthy! 🤘🏻

You should most definitely check out The Warning. They WILL be the next big thing.
Will do!@@R-Mouse2299 Thanks!
6/8 is right. This is the second Video Im watching from you (after your great "Sultans of Swing" commentary) and I'm really enjoying it.
Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
He broke a drum stick playing this.
I saw that…so cool….he grabbed another one so quick and kept it ripping I barely noticed! 🤘🏻
They can make coloring books for the bass players
😂🤣😂 Hilarious!
He's 62
Wow!!! And still getting it 🤯

Sweet!! I’ll look into it. Thanks!
12:06 Bruce: COWBELL!😂
🤣
Why chad said it in 3, I have seen in other videos people mentioning different time signature 3/8 or 6/8 etc. could anyone explain

30 seconds to mars did a TH-cam short on this and said it was in 3
You're right it's 6/8. I think when he says 3 he's splitting the bar into 2x 3/8s. 3/4 just wouldn't make sense with the feel.
This is the only version of the song I’ll listen too Lol
🤣😂 I know right! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
if you want to watch a good Jared movie watch Requiem for a Dream
Love that movie!!! So good 😎
Horrible Joker, not a bad actor, though.
Gotcha! Still want to check out that movie regardless. Thanks for hanging!
I just realized Brandon is wearing a Jared Leto shirt. I have watched 8 million reactions to this and this is the first time I've noticed.
That’s not Jared Leto - it’s the late Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters/Alanis Morissette.
@tracithomas6543 looks like Jared Leto to me.
@ It literally says on the shirt, directly under the image, Taylor Hawkins.
@@tracithomas6543 can't see it without my glasses.
