If Resident Evil 4 and 5 taught me anything :
green + green = about 50% of total health restoration
green + red = full one hundred, just like as if you used a first aid spray
Consuming green+green combo is good, if your health is not in red zone (let's say if you have like 40 % of total health, and you use that G+G and then your total health is 90 %).
I'd rather keep green+red combo if I get messed up real bad and health is very low.

How is Jill leading nemesis away from the train filled with survivors a stupid decision? Nemesis wants Jill and will kill everyone in her way, if she ran back to the train (which wasn't ready to go yet) nemesis would've killed all of them easily, a shutter isn't gonna stop him. I get that they died later anyway but her leading nemesis away was the smart decision because Nemesis was only interested in her, no one else.
Resident Evil 3 is rushed and stuff but her decisions aren't stupid considering she knows how to fight these monsters. This isn't her first game she's done her time being the survivor in resi 1 she's used to this zombie rodeo.

    • @aguycalledpete
      @aguycalledpete 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Pastafarian it’s stupid because as already shown literally within the first 2 minutes of the game, the plot allows basic things to stop Nemesis such as bookshelves tripped in front of doors - so a metal shutter would likely stop this tame version of Nemesis we got. Jill didn’t have to lead him away.

    • @GeneralProfessor
      @GeneralProfessor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

So Jill facing Nemesis alone makes sense because, according to you, she somehow knows how to fight him, but Jill facing Nemesis with help from several Umbrella mercs means he would've "killed all of them easily"?
In the food chain of the game Stars members are supposed to be above zombies and Lickers by the time RE3 happens, so you're correct in saying that Jill knows what she's doing. But that is where Nemesis is supposed to come in and flip the hierarchy upside down. Which is precisely what he does in the original. He shows up out of nowhere and one-shots Brad and from then on it's established that he is the alpha predator in Raccoon City. And other characters including Jill act accordingly, meaning they're terrified of this seemingly unstoppable terminator-like monstrosity. Now you have a strong and oppressive horror setting and a terrifying almost invulnerable antagonist as a result.
R3make fucks this up absolutely. Nemesis never kills Brad and keeps failing constantly, and all of the other characters keep trash talking and insulting him. As a result horror is barely there and the antagonist is too weak to be taken seriously since no one else takes him seriously either.
Now if you want Jill to flip things back and take on Nemesis willingly you can do that later in the game. Once she's been through many encounters and actually knows what he is and what he is capable of, and once she's well equipped, and once a good enough reason is given. Then you can have that "I'll give you Stars" moment and have it mean something, unlike in R3make where they even fucked that up by mistiming it within the story.
So to conclude what Jill did was stupid. It was heroic and that is admirable, but it was stupid. She knows pretty much nothing about Nemesis by then, her gear is weak, she refuses help from heavily armed mercenaries, and she willing and blindly runs towards what should be the greatest and most dangerous threat she ever faced. It even makes her look incompetent since like you said, she survived the mansion and should know what a Tyrant is by now, so she should know better than to face one intentionally with nothing but a shotgun and a pistol.

The inventory system was the same as RE2 remake, I it forced you to figure out what is important to keep while on the run. I liked the game, but I do agree that it's pretty flawed. I never had an issue with Jill leading Nemesis away from the survivors though. Seemed like the correct choice given the circumstances. Like, the alternative was to lead Nemesis down to the train, with Carlos...and all the civilians. Her goals were to keep the civilians safe and give Carlos time to prepare the train. Neither of those thing could happen if Nemesis was down there with them. Leading him away was the only option, and I actually like the scene, it defines Jill as both clever and brave. But this isn't the first time I've seen a knee-jerk to this scene...perhaps the game doesn't do a good enough job at describing the stakes?

Honestly I could.overlook most of this game's flaws(the abundance of ammo, short length etc) if it wasn't for 3 things:
    1. Easily the biggest problem is that 90% of the time, NEMESIS IS NOT SCARY, HE IS A JOKE!
He can be taken out with a single grenade and he is only scary during the section of the game where he chases you around the downtown area and even that doesn't last for very long.
He is only scary all the way through on Nightmare and Inferno ,but by that point it doesn't matter, because the main game ruined the suprise factor and menace it should have.
    2. This game puts more time and energy into pointless QTEs and baysplosions than actually giving us puzzles, the multiple choice system.... stuff that gave the original its identity
    3. Last but not least, the cut content. R2MAKE cut some stuff as well, but at least it made up for it with bonus content and actually making a lot of improvements to what WAS in the game.
This game cut out entire sections from the game and replaced them with crappier versions or ,even worse, it teases you with them. You fight doggo Nemesis outside the clocktower but you don't actually go in there.
If they had cut out the crappy section thst were bad in the original to begin with, people wouldnn't complain, but this is just agregious.

I really enjoyed RE3 so I don't agree with you fully. However, it was definitely a short game and I don't think the price value of £50 was justified for the "average" player. I got my money's worth out of it but I think I'm in the minority with that. Actually, let me say this: if RE2make wasn't so good and didn't get me hyped up then I doubt I would be so forgiving for RE3make. I didn't have any issue with the gameplay (even Carlos's RE4 style cabin mission didn't bother me). It's just there wasn't enough of it. Inferno mode was completed by me but it's a meme difficulty and Nemmy4 inferno is too hard on a PS4 controller and too easy with a keyboard and mouse. I didn't like how Nemmy basically turned into a dog. Why did they do this I wonder? He was a lot more intimidating when he's sprinting to slap the back of your head. Also, once you understand walking Nemmy he's ridiculously easy to avoid thanks to the placement of single-use exploding barrels and electrocution. Because the game is so short, it doesn't matter that the barrels are single-use because you only need to use them once. Electrocution followed by a grenade is enough to down nemmy as well. Once you understand this the fear factor is just gone.

9:20 For all the hate against "muh feminism" agendas, you decided to bring up that topic where it wasn't even warranted.
Where Jill immediately dies in the next linear sequence after that? That's on you because you were controlling her and couldn't dodge an attack. It's bad game design to make the next gameplay segment a tight hallway, sure, but that doesn't excuse you as a bad player yourself. Anyone and their mother could've survived that if they just decided to use a first aid item first.
    (Spoilers Below)
Secondly, to make your argument sound valid, you glossed over how Jill got all people in the train killed later by being inside the train herself... because Nemesis chased her there. It's inferred that Nemesis relentlessly stalks her and would cause collateral damage to others if Jill had stayed in the subway. It's not mindblowing storytelling, but it's straightforward enough that it's more obtuse to extrapolate it as social commentary rather than taking it in face value as a simple plot device.

"sure, but that doesn't excuse you as a bad player yourself. "
but he wasn't talking about playing he was talking about how he felt jill making a bad decission. I don't think him dying had anything to do with his thoughts on that since he didn't say he was mad about dying he said that what jill did was a stupid decission so i don't know why you even bother mentioning that. I understand the rest tho but the excuse yourself as a bad player doesn't work since that was never what he got mad at. He didn't get annnoyed by dying.
I understand the spoiler part that makes sense but that other part doesn't really mean anything because that was never his point to begin with it was not him raging at him getting killed or something. So saying he could have survived that is kinda missing the point. There is no point to mention something that he didn't complain about.

Yes, because not being able to find the healing item you need while in a boss fight because the game doesn't pause in the inventory is a great thing. That's not unfair or frustrating, that won't make me think "wow, that was bullshit, I had no time to even select the fucking thing, what the fuck were they thinking?", just as it was in every single fucking Resident Evil game that didn't pause while you were in the inventory.
Resident Evil is... was about making strategic decisions, not about being a Call of Duty game. The combat was more of a puzzle than a real combat, that's why you had limited resources, that's why you would die in just a few hits and had no health regeneration. You didn't need quick reflexes to get good at the games, you had to be smart and plan out everything correctly. Having all your strategy and plans be ruined because oh whoopsies you didn't move your cursor quick enough! just makes for an crappy experience.

I can agree fairly with the Lazy statement, it is, would be a almost perfect remake (for me) if they gave some love to iconic locations like clock tower and try to pull the live selection at some points with hopefully some alternate endings.
Nightmare mode should be more easilly acessible since it adds a lot of fun with a new loadout of enemies and spawn location also the addiction of a randomizer mode would be cool too.
We get the feel of love from some things, the character models and performance are amazing, city and music too, but it feel rushed.

I don't want to convince you that the gave is a master piece or that it doesn't have any issues, but I do want to add some counter points to the discussion.
First, I didn't even download the multiplayer, I have zero interest in it. I only played the main campaign, and I never played the original. I played every original RE game minus 3.
With all that in mind I have to say that the two biggest issues I have with your critique is: what you said about it being fun, the inventory system.
Toy said it's fun, you enjoyed the time you spent with the game, then you said that's all the good you can say about it. I don't know about other people, but generally, me enjoying the game and having fun are the highest praises I can give a game, so it seems really odd that you would say it's fun, but make that such a minor note.
I really feel like you need to explain why "having fun" is such minor praise.
You're right that the inventory system pausing the game doesn't allow for the same kind of horror that a live system does; however, that's exactly how it worked in the original four RE games. In fact, in RE2Remake it also pauses the game on the inventory screen and you never mention this.
This doesn't excuse the fact that a live inventory is better, but it seems to me that the chose this to be faithful to the original rather than being regressive in design.
Now, all that being said, I still think it's obvious that this game was rushed which is what led to its short runtime, but I also think it has a lot to do with the iriginal game being shorter as well. On average, looking at player driven stats, the original game and the remake have comprable play times in spite of the cut content.
In the end, I personally loved RE3Remake and have zero regrets buying it (and I posted extra to get a scalped special edition) because it was immensly fun. I played it 3 times back to back because I enjoyed it so much. However, I hope Capcom takes some extra time with us remakes moving forward to ensure the get the polish and changes they deserve. While RE3R was great, it's clear it could have easily been even better with some additional dev time.

The inventory system has always been like this what are you talking about? Have you played any of the other resident evil games? Every single one features limited inventory space and a pause feature for going into the inventory screen except for 5 and 6 and that was due to the multiplayer playing a part in the mechanics. So I’m just confused why this is a critique when it’s been a staple in a majority of the single player resident evil games. I’m not saying re3 was good by any means in fact it was as you said, a disappointment, but the inventory system not being intended this way? Again, it’s always been like this.

Dude Resident Evil 1 2 3 & 4 all paused on the inventory screen......and that obviously includes the original. So that particular criticism actually shows that it's you who doesn't understand Resident Evil design, not the devs. So with all due respect, that's just not a fair criticism.
Also every single Resident Evil game had intentional B movie horror acting and sequences. So again that's pretty much a staple in the design of the whole series, certainly nothing unique to this entry....
As for the door glitch, if it happens all the time then that sucks, but if it's just an outlier then it's pretty much on par with minor glitches found in all games I think.

Really liked your videos for the past years, but the recent comments about gender make me icky. In the metro scene she's clearly trying to take Nemesis away from the survivors, as a cop would do. Didn't see the mu rah rah feminism you're talking about. Made the commentary about RE3 feel superficial for me, as the game itself.

Mu rah rah feminism is still over the top in this game
Oh, a man just rescued me from a giant monster trying to kill me...i better act like an unsypathetic bitch than to simply thank him.
