I got the hardcore S+ rank eventually, but with professional only allowing upto 15 saves - i'm all but tapped out with the game now. I will say few games have had this level of re-playability factor that has had me enjoying so many runs at 5-16 hours a time.
@@truthseeker7172 Hi how are you ? I think GTA SA and Orginal RE4 are the games I play every time , I am not a serious hardcore gamer, I grew up with these two games
Unless you played the original when it came out, it is impossible to understand quite how groundbreaking it was. No one had ever seen anything like it it, it was almost like someone inventing a new genre of movies or music.
I was like 11 when the game came out. At the time it was the best game ever. I didn’t know it was groundbreaking. I was in my own little world playing video games. It wasn’t until I was order and saw how influential it was. To appreciate this game even more, you have to play the original
You always know its a good sign when a producer has a demo and their embargo lifts a whole week before it comes out. It shows they have confidence in the product they are releasing
What's truly astonishing about RE4 is that, despite planting the flag for countless third-person action-adventure titles in the intervening eighteen years, none have ever quite reached the same heights . The fact that a largely-iterative re-imagining of the same product could be the Game of the Year in 2023 can't be overstated.
Plenty of games reached and surpassed the original. While the remake is based on that it improved pretty much everything and it's so much more enjoyable to play. Try to take off your rose tinted glasses and replay the original after the remake. While it is still good and definitely can be enjoyed it aged and the remake is completely different level.
Plenty of games DESTROYED RE4. The game is highly overrated and killed survival horror. Shit ass action game with shit ass controls with zero survival or horror. Bad 3rd person shooter then, and now.
@@matejnemec3022 I just played through OG and remake and prefer the original. The rose tinted glasses thing doesn’t make sense because a lot of fans of the original continue to replay it to this day. Its level and encounter design surpass dead space easily. Each area has some aspect that sets it apart from others, and the position-based combat that relies on clever utilization of your environment still hasn’t been replicated as well anywhere. Dead Space may allow you to walk and aim, but its environments lack in visual dynamism and so much of the game is spent in corridors. I get that everyone now thinks that a game can only be developed with one control scheme, but I think that’s kind of a bummer. Games do so little to differentiate themselves from one another outside of narrative these days.
@Zack Cummons deadspace mastered the horror side. You want horror, play Deadspace. You want just fun gameplay with extremely intense fight than RE4. Deadspace can make me shit myself but re4 puts me on the edge of my seat in so many parts.
I used to be firmly in the "Remakes shouldn't win GOTY" camp but then I reframed my logic. If Remakes can't win GOTY because they're piggy-backing off the work of the original, then sequels shouldn't win GOTY either. You could argue God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring shouldn't have been eligible for at the game awards because GOWR was just a continuation of the hard work done in 2018, and Elden Ring was the culmination of From Software's entire catalog of games. So now I personally don't care if Remakes get nominated, but HD Remasters still shouldn't be.
Man, I just recently found your channel and WOW. I find your style of reviews so relatable and seeming to hit all the things that I have struggled to be able to put into words. I LOVE that you are not afraid to speak your mind regardless of how that will come across. You just spit out the truth (or your ACTUAL opinion) and I massively respect that. Keep it up man. Loving the videos, reviews, commentary, conversations, all of it. Its just a breath of fresh air man, THANK YOU
In my personal opinion, if the game was any worse in quality, I wouldn't want it to win game of the year. But damn there's so much pure love, skill, technical prowess, and such a solid understanding of gaming put into this game, it's really hard for me to not push it for the best game this year. Something may potentially come out and beat it, but damn if this isn't one of the best straightforward, linear single-player experiences I have had in a long time.
17:34 ahh my unreasonable love of Resident Evil 4 has caught up with me lol, In general I prefer the Original but then again I do have nearly 10 years of Bias and I'm happy you enjoyed this masterpiece
There 3 games where I've rolled credits and IMMEDIATELY started a new game: Half Life: Alyx, the Quest 2 version of Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. It is literally the perfect video game and it is definitely my game of the year!
this was also my first time playing through RE4, and I absolutely love it. being someone who got into the series because of the RE2 Remake which is still probably my favorite, I love what they did with this one. Can’t wait to play it through a couple times.
I took a break from gaming while in high school and college and didn’t get back in until 2020. So I missed RE4 as well. But this remake, oh boy is it good. They did an amazing job. Capcom just needs to remake Dino Crisis and I’ll be in heaven
The OG definitely feels a bit dated when it comes to QTE's and and the tank controls but I think it is still worth checking out! There are some fairly large story beats that got cut out of the remake
I played the original again for the 50th time the day before getting the remake. I'm still unsure as to which version I prefer. I love them both but there's just a vibe the original has that the remake is missing. I can't put my finger on it though
@@MathOwzI think the music plays a big part on that. I really wish they kept the music nearly the same for the typewriter saves, the title screen (more ominous obviously), and the background when fighting the enemies
@@RayMoney97 yeah the music plays a big part and I also prefer the way enemies react to gunfire in the original. I'll also never forgive them for what they did to my beloved red 9 😂
What makes this RE different from the older ones, is that this game provides you with what you need to pass a room, whether it be ammo and/or healing items.
The original already did that, usually with more than you'd actually need. Unless you just sucked at the game I don't get how it'd exclusive to this remake lol
@@LiterallyVera I mean, that's the point of survival horror, the game gives you all the resources that you need, it's up to you to use them properly to finish the game...
@@7RicolmE7 No i mean. You don't have to save up resources, because almost every room has the resources necessary to complete it. Meaning if you entered it completely empty handed, you can still get what you need from around the same room.
In the case of Dead Space or The Last of Us, while they sold me on games that maybe didn't need a remake getting one anyway, I'd say those would not be valid for GOTY. But RE4 is different enough I'd say it deserves GOTY in its own right. It's heavily redesigned, only recognizable enough to call itself a remake, but it's not at all the same linear arcade shooting gallery its 2005 counterpart is.
No, RE2 remake proved that, as the original RE2 actually has tank controls. The only thing the original RE4 has about tanking is that you can't shoot while moving, but you have full control of your aim. That is, you do not know what tank control is.
@@victors4786 RE4 (2005) uses tank controls lmao, what are you talking about? You can walk forwards and backwards and turn slowly, you can’t move and shoot at the same time? It literally controls the same as RE:Remake and was built on the same engine, the only difference is that it’s a 3rd person camera. There is no 360 degree movement, it uses tank controls.
Don't feel bad about your weapon choice. In the remake they rebalanced the guns so that they all feel awesome now tbh. Red9 used to rule above all else, it was nerfed but all the others are actually viable now too ;) Happy to see more and more people get into RE4 tbh
I don't think any game where headshot+roundhouse kick is the meta and the story setup is "Leon is sent to Spain to save the US president's daughter" expects you to take the story super seriously.
This was one of my favorite games when it first came out in 2005. I've beaten it around 30 times, it has great replay value. I'm currently playing the remake, haven't finished it yet because I don't have a lot of time for games. I am loving it so far and look forward to several playthroughs. I actually bought the deluxe version of the game, that is something I never do.
21:14 no it isn't. The canons are far more aggressive in the remake, and not being able to tell ashley to stay in one place means she's also diving into danger with you. You can get in an infinite loop of reviving her, and getting hit if you're not careful enough.
If you’re running into the middle of the catapults range that’s on you. That’s a skill issue. There are different methods for dealing with them. Sounds like you chose the absolute worst approach. It’s pretty easy to sneak around and raise the cannon. There are barrels near every catapult so you don’t even have to use the cannon. You can even raise the cannon earlier than you’re supposed to and then either rush towards it or take out the catapults yourself using the aforementioned barrels. And isn’t that nice to have options which is a core tenant of Resident Evil games? The section is better and more engaging than the og.
That krauser boss made the game more then a master piece I kept defending the original because I love that game since 2005 and still do but that krauser boss convinced me gonna have to get that game on disc and digital
I agree with you 100% about remakes winning game of the year. They added some great new mechanics to this remake that make hard to go back to the original, but for the most part it's very similar to the original. I'd prefer a game that has new ideas win game of the year, but new doesn't mean good. This remake is so good that I almost hope it wins. Tears of the Kingdom is most likely going to be my game of the year.
I wouldn't be against RE4 Remake being up for contention for GOTY. It's different enough from the original to be considered it's own game, unlike the Metroid Prime or Dead Space remakes
The combat and weapons were so much funer in re4 remake that i prefer to play that game over re2 remake which is my overall fav re game ever. Not many people seem to mention that. Definitely a fun game re4
The original was a masterpiece in my opinion. I remember playing it on the wii, rushing home from school to get playing it. I think it was my introduction game to the series If I remember correctly. I’m a big fan of the new titles and I recently tried to replay 4 last year but couldn’t cope with the dated controls. The character felt so slow and rigid. It’s great that all that is tidied up in the remake. The turning point after Resident Evil 6 was impressive. The developers must have seen that the series was going down a path that wasn’t working. Their commitment to revamping the series has made me fall in love with the series every game they put out. 😊
I don’t care if a game is a remake or not. If it’s the best game that released that year, it should be eligible for game of the year. Remasters should not be considered however.
Speedruns of this game are fucking magic. You can get through most chapters in 10-15 minutes if youre smart about the enemies you kill and the enemies you leave behind and the ones you just hit in the knee and shimmy past. I'm currently doing a mix of speed runs and prep for my professional run and im still learning 60 hours in on enemy tactics. Also I just fucking love Leon and Luis and Ashley. Love them. Endlessly.
As a DIEHARD Resident Evil fan, this game has so much love, care, and passion put into it, it feels like the devs truly understood what made the game special, and proceeded to make the game we hold in our nostalgia, not just what we had. 10/10, easily my GotY and one of my favorite games of all time
I played the OG in the 2008-2010, two times, but was a teenager and was scary about the game because was a RE title. Prior to release of the Remake, I replayed the port of Steam with the UHD Project Mod, and finished 2 times (Normal and Professional Mode) and was a blast. The OG games continues to amazing me about how beyond this game is from his time, and how revolutionary he is. Now, I am finishing the 2nd playthrough of the Remake and this is my GOTY. How they make the game feels scarier in some parts, the parry system, the pace, the memorable characters, all of this is really incredible.
Surprised anyone would think the controls of the original RE 4 were clunky Play the original RE1, 2, or 3 RE4 set the much smoother template for 5 and 6 (and Revelations 1 and 2) to build on before the reset with 7 Btw, if you haven't played them yet, I do recommend Revelations, RE5, and Revelations 2 (in that order) And if possible -- Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 (prepare for tank controls though) Game was WAAY ahead of its time.
Deadspace and RE4 remakes were absolutely amazing, what a remake SHOULD be. RE4 remake is so good I can't even play the original anymore, it's as if THIS is the vision of what the game should have always been.
Honestly, as a longtime player, it will be hard for new players to appreciate RE8's action sequence where you are playing as Chris without having played RE5 and RE6. Those sequences in RE8 showed that while RE5 and RE6 had the series veering from its roots to be full on action titles, to which Capcom is veering away from that with their new titles, they acknowledge that those games are still part of the series. Chris Redfield post RE6 is an action hero and they're not taking back that decision. He is, and always will be, the guy who punched a giant boulder out of his way inside an active volcano, lol.
True. I'd argue that's what Resident Evil is. For new players they think RE is a horror-scary series (thanks to RE7 and 8) but at its core, it's a B-movie badass military man vs monsters since RE1.
I have the original RE4 and tried playing it but the controls were too outdated and clunky it was downright unplayable. Same with RE5 and 6. So I’m glad they remade it
Really enjoyed the Remake with tone it went for and hopeful for the direction of franchise in its survival for a new audience. Whoever says that earlier RE story from 4-6 feels like b-movie is bad should watch more older Japanese movies & shows lol. They nail that feeling of a enjoyable b-grade action movie. I find it really funny that another sony flagship title just had to release in the same period as this remake and had to get cucked in the same category as the remake over performance issues other things aside. And this is the 3rd time a Japanese dev managed to outdo a Sony game lol. Wondering if that is becoming a trend now.
og 4 is still great especially on pc with the hd project textures made from a couple of guys and one which lived in spain and scanned in the real world artifacts
After playing the remake, there is absolutely no reason to play the original unless you wanna experience the true campiness of the original story (which is fucking great btw). The remake is, in my humble re4 veteran opinion, the definitive way to play re4.
This game 100% deserves some GOTY awards. Remake or not, the amount of effort in this is clear, and beyond that it really is effectively a new game with how it controls, to its pacing, and the story and characters, although the same as the original are all better written than what the original had to offer. There are two kinds of remakes, there are remakes like The Last of Us Part I or Demon's Souls which are effectively the exact same game as the original but with prettier graphics. Then there are remakes like Final Fantasy VII or Resident Evil 4 which are games that have the same characters, same general plot beat, and same general areas, plus prettier graphics but everything is redone in such a way were it is effectively a whole new experience compared to the original. I think there are arguments to be made on whether or not games like the Demon's Souls remake deservers GOTY awards, but when it comes to remakes like RE4, it, without question, should get awards.
My main issue with this remake is hearing people describe it as you are right now. It wouldn’t bother me that it got remade if it didn’t lead people to think that by playing RE4R, they’ve played RE4. Everyone is quick to jump in and tell fans of the original that a remake should be expected to deviate from its source material, but Luke seems to be under the impression that they are not fundamentally different games, which they are. If you’ve heard the original is “clunky” but haven’t tried it for yourself, *please* don’t write it off because of the remake. Approach it with an open mind. Its gameplay and level design are so well put together. It has stood the test of time for a reason. It’s the most fun game I’ve ever played and it’s the game I’ve replayed the most. The weird aversion some people have to it doesn’t make sense to me. If it was playable when it came out, why would it not be playable today? Is Super Mario Bros. 3 considered unplayable for “modern audiences?” Does FF7R replace FF7?
resident evil 3 was a great game , sure they cut content but it was enjoyable its not right that people come along and say it was bad , show some respect I loved it. lol
Glad you enjoyed the remake and would love to see you make a critique style video but I know how much work you put into creating those huge videos and can't just crank them out willy nilly.
I noticed on the canon section on replay you dont even have ti jump down to raise the cannon and theres explosive barrels around the catapulted so you can take a few out on the way there such an amazing game.
As someone who was playing resident evil 2 on the ps1 when it came out and everything since on dreamcast, gamecube, etc all these remakes are amazing. I'm reliving my favourite gaming series all over again. It's incredible. And they are all amazing, even 3 with the cut content was solid fun
I like your Lego sets in the background. I liked the Pyramid so much I bought and built my own. I haven't been into Legos since I was a kid. This past month I've been obsessed with buying and constructing sets.. It all started because I seen your sets Luke lol.
I enjoyed your video, bro. I'm a long time fan of the OG and have absolutely adored the new remake. I wanted to touch on the game awards topic you mentioned. I would be supportive of it getting an award, mainly because they could have just as easily screwed this game up; but they didn't. They literally elaborated on the best parts of the OG, and gave us so much more this time around. I've always loved the original, but this was more than I could've ever asked for or expected. They really put a lot of heart and passion into this game, and it's very easy to tell. I do completely understand where you're coming from, it being a remake, but like I said, they could've just as easily made the wrong moves with it. For them to have remade and reimagined that whole game in such an incredible, beautiful way, is deserving, in my opinion. RE4 presented very large shoes to fill for this remake; and they managed to do it! So I do hope it gets some kind of award, If for no other reason than just the hard work and success of the goal they had. They really gifted us something special 🤘
Does it take loads of bullets to kill the zombies in this game ? I downloaded and played resident evil 2 remake , and deleted it as it took about ten hand gun bullets to head to kill 1 zombie
Resident Evil 2 is different in the sense that you’re not really supposed to kill every zombie you come across. You’re meant to maneuver around them and use guns as a last resort to get them out of your way, especially since ammo is very scarce in that game, and enemies don’t drop loot. Resident Evil 4 however, is pure action horror. It usually only takes 2-3 headshots to put an enemy down, and you’re able to upgrade your weapons as you progress through the game. RE4 remake allows you to parry enemy attacks as well, which is super helpful and fun to pull off. If you didn’t like RE2, then RE4 is definitely the game for you. It puts much more focus on the action and gunplay.
I always get this weird sense of disappointment when someone says they haven't played the Original but only the remake lol I myself didn't play it for the first time till last summer. Now I've already beat it 5 times twice on pro. Godly game. I literally can't believe I never played it when it first dropped. I still need to play the remake myself. Very soon cause I can already tell Ima have a shit load of fun with it being Leon Wick.
regarding the character growth between the playable character and the following character through gameplay, that’s one thing i wouldn’t say Naughty Dog and other companies took from the original RE4. Only fully played through it once in 2020, but from what i remember Ashley was more just there and would yell for help when needed. The Remake definitely improves her and if anything takes it’s inspiration from TLOU and others in that regard
I never played the original either but always wanted to, just couldn’t bring myself to pick it up because I saw clunky and relatively old mechanics (like not being able to move while aiming) that deterred me from trying the original but I reflect the same sentiment you said. After playing the remake for a good 16 hours I can also say, “I get it” and it’s really a fantastic game. Really perfectly paced and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome with robust mechanics and actually substantial variation in enemies and gameplay
Side note; the B-type story was actually super endearing and funny in some ways where normally I prefer a tighter narrative. Like the way Leon is trying to figure out Krauser’s motivations then you read a note where he’s just like, “yea I want world domination”. Like bad guy is bad, just found it funny and actually enjoyed stuff like that
The original plays excellently dude, the AI is adjusted to that style isn't as aggressive, being steady and shoot isn't a problem at all, go play it, still one of the GOATs
Considering that I never really liked the original, but love the remake, and that the story here, in my opinion, is about twice as good, I have no problem with it winning game of the year. As far as I'm concerned, they had to put almost as much work into this game as they would a new game. If it was a remaster, than sure, but this was built from the ground up as a new game.
My first Res game was the remaster of 1, and I later played Village. They were good, but paled in comparison to something like the Last of Us. But when I popped this on to play as a stumble-through game with my friends, my jaw dropped. I was immediately grabbed - I restarted the game the next day and have since beaten it 5 times. BEAUTIFUL game design and a blast to play. I just started Res 5, and I sincerely hope they remake that one as well.
Really glad you enjoyed this game, Luke. As goofy as it sounds, this game was a big part of my childhood. My grandpa was obsessed with this game, and that jerk found it hilarious how scared it would make us when we watched him play. That's not a joke, although, I am so thankful he did. He taught me how to play, and my cousins and I would try to replicate his speedruns, and use his tricks in the game. This game changed 3rd person shooters, and is one of the most complete and finely crafted horror games of all time.
I played the original when it came out on the Wii when I was about 13-14 and even though I loved it I never made it past chapter 3 because I just wasn't as good at those games at that age. Now I'm 28 and absolutely loving the remake, currently up to Chapter 9. I'm so glad I get to experience this game again now with all my survival game knowledge and experience I have now and I truly understand why it became considered one of the best games of all time. I've never played a survival horror action game that's so damn fun and doesn't put me off like others do eventually.
Wow as a long time casual viewer I never knew you played chess. It was my first love and only my addiction to mmorpgs stopped me becoming a grandmaster :(
I started with 5 and picked up revelations 1 & 2, loved revelations 2 for the raid mode alone (which has never been reintroduced), played 6 when it dropped, got back in with RE2 remake, skipped 3 remake, absolutely love RE4 remake. It’s actually - fun? Most games just be dragging on or get really tedious but this actually feels like an experience worth replaying multiple times.
People say it’s a B grade story, in terms of presentation yeah but when you really get into the lore and how the franchise connects all these games alongside these remakes deepening and enriching the lore to how it was is just amazing. Tho yeah u do have to do a lot of digging and research as not everything is show and tell in this franchise
Now that the Krauser fight has set a different standard for QTE, itd be nice (jumping franchises here) if Splinter Cell remake redid the mark and execute system, so that those quick turn shots can be a bit more interactive.
Only after your breakdown did it really click that RE4, Last of Us, and GOW Ragnarok being my 3 favorite games is not even remotely coincidental. I guess RE4 was my #1 all along 😅
I beat the original re4 too many times to count. And this remake really scratches that itch. 9.5/10 tbh but even playing through it I was constantly just thinking about the great original level
It was really nice to see someone else who didn’t play RE4 originally back in 05 and that also has only played re7 , revilkage, and re2 and 3 remake . Just at the beginning of your video but just wanted to say that! Looking forward to your take on it . I loved re4 remake btw. Just beat it 2 days ago. 39 hours in 😅.
You can still have much fun in og. And you can't really compare game from 2005 to 2023 remake to say which one is better, both great for their time period. Same goes to re1 and re2, but not the third remake
As someone who never played the OG 4 didn't have a GameCube growing up. Playing this I completely why it's one of the greatest game ever it will be very hard for a game to top this as my goty.
RE4, 5 and 6 will always be my favourites in the franchise. Even tho I stil love the classic survival horror games. I just much prefer action orientated style of Resi games but still maintaining that over the top cheesy B plot
I had the same experience as you. I never played the original RE4, or any original RE game for that matter. The only one I ever played was the RE2 Remake and I liked it quite a bit. So I played the demo for RE4 Remake when it came out and was instantly sold. I went from being somewhat interested, to RE4 Remake being one of my most anticipated games of the year. So even with those suddenly heightened expectations, the game still blew me away. This is a 10 out of 10 masterpiece in my opinion. I definitely agree on the phenomenal pacing. Especially with the amount of enemy variety. I was amazed that even 12+ hours into the game it was introducing brand new enemy types. And I'd say it deserves contention for game of the year for a couple reasons. One, they put so much work and care into the details of this game, and from what I have heard they changed up quite a lot from the original. And 2, I'm sure there are tons of people like you and I that this was their first time ever playing this game, seeing as it's nearly 20 years old. There will be so many people that would've never played this game otherwise. I think it deserves a spot to fight for game of the year.
Please let me know how to delete files and all bonuses. Basically like a game reboot back to its original starting point? I'm playing it on my own after the previous owner obtained everything. I want to earn it on my own. Thanks so much.
I always find it interesting to see the perspective from a guy who grew up without all media products that weren't up to par for religious families. On top of the deep dives I also love seeing someone experience these things for the first time! Much appreciation for your work Luke
I haven't played the original either.Very interested in it, but I didn't have the right console. Will probably buy this soon. I think they did a amazing job! Kudos.
The Ganados are changed to accommodate the changes on the player’s end. They’re still a very aggressive and smart enemy type. They flank, grapple, surround, dodge, shove, strike, slow approach, charge approach, etc. They have many options and so do you. I like it. It feels more like fun and engaging gameplay rather than arbitrary restrictions
Between this and the recent Dead Space remake it kinda gives you more faith in possible remakes in the future. Remakes done right and for the right reasons can genuinely rival the originals. Previous remakes didn't mean you could possibly skip the original and still have the same experience. I can totally understand if someone skipped OG Dead Space and went straight to the remake as the only main aspects missing or that is added is that Isaac is now a voiced protagonist. Which is always going to be available if that's what you prefer and its a similar experience with RE4. Except the voiced protagonist obviously. There's still plenty of cheesey one liners in the remake which quite frankly are a prerequisite of a decent RE game.
A game is a game is a game in my opinion. Perhaps there should be a category for best original, but if a game is good, it should be recognized for it, remake or not.
I don't get why people now think the original dialogue is cringe? It was f**king Hilarious! The original is still very playable. It doesn't take long for the controls to become natural.
glad I played the original before remake came out. callbacks hit different. RE4 Remake doesn’t replace the original, like how Dead Space Remake replaced the OG. OG RE4 has unique gameplay: not being able to move and shoot gave the OG RE4 dynamic gameplay of strategic positioning.
This game is actually GOTY material good job Capcom. Zelda would probably win but Capcom did a very good job according to nowadays standards for making a remake, unlike some other shitty ports or remakes

Top 5 most influential game all time
I was like 11 when the game came out.
I'd say Dead Space reached the same kind of heights. Maybe not as widely loved, but reached great peaks
Lmao that’s crazy work… bro those are separate games there’s no shot they are continuations
I bought this game when it came out and I’m still too excited to play it
17:34 ahh my unreasonable love of Resident Evil 4 has caught up with me lol, In general I prefer the Original but then again I do have nearly 10 years of Bias and I'm happy you enjoyed this masterpiece
The length of that ad was disgraceful
@@MathOwz you can switch to the original soundtrack, it helps a little but it's only available if you bought the Deluxe Edition
@@MathOwz might just be nostalgia, but i can't blame you bc i also have some
What makes this RE different from the older ones, is that this game provides you with what you need to pass a room, whether it be ammo and/or healing items.
The original already did that, usually with more than you'd actually need.
Unless you just sucked at the game I don't get how it'd exclusive to this remake lol
Another person who doesn't understand survival horror, and another reason for why RE4 became a generic shooter.
@@Xoulrath_ It was in the original though. Every room had the resources you needed to pass it, even if you entered it completely empty handed.
It's heavily redesigned, only recognizable enough to call itself a remake, but it's not at all the same linear arcade shooting gallery its 2005 counterpart is.
im very glad luke got to play and enjoy re4r as well as understand its mechanics and gaming philosophy
Re 4 remake prove you dont need tank controls to make the game tense.
@@victors4786 Re 7 prove it first.
Don't feel bad about your weapon choice. In the remake they rebalanced the guns so that they all feel awesome now tbh. Red9 used to rule above all else, it was nerfed but all the others are actually viable now too ;)
Happy to see more and more people get into RE4 tbh
I don't think any game where headshot+roundhouse kick is the meta and the story setup is "Leon is sent to Spain to save the US president's daughter" expects you to take the story super seriously.
This was one of my favorite games when it first came out in 2005. I've beaten it around 30 times, it has great replay value. I'm currently playing the remake, haven't finished it yet because I don't have a lot of time for games. I am loving it so far and look forward to several playthroughs. I actually bought the deluxe version of the game, that is something I never do.
Aha, it seems that I have found my RE4 doppelganger.
It’s been years since I wanted to replay a game right after finishing it
"Don't be mad at me but I never played the OG RE4"
I'm not mad Luke, I'm just disappointed. 😕
That krauser boss made the game more then a master piece I kept defending the original because I love that game since 2005 and still do but that krauser boss convinced me gonna have to get that game on disc and digital
Deluxe edition is the only way to buy it says the merchant
Go outside mate
@@Chanandler_Bong-z2z I go everyday, pratice some exercises and I have time to play too :)
Surprised anyone would think the controls of the original RE 4 were clunky
Play the original RE1, 2, or 3
RE4 set the much smoother template for 5 and 6 (and Revelations 1 and 2) to build on before the reset with 7
Btw, if you haven't played them yet, I do recommend Revelations, RE5, and Revelations 2 (in that order)
And if possible -- Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 (prepare for tank controls though)
Game was WAAY ahead of its time.
If a game is genuinely the best release of the year it should be GOTY, even if it is a remake
og 4 is still great especially on pc with the hd project textures made from a couple of guys and one which lived in spain and scanned in the real world artifacts
I beat Callisto 3 times, Dead Space 3 times and now Re4 on my 4th playthrough. Best time since the ps2 Era for survival horror games.
resident evil 3 was a great game , sure they cut content but it was enjoyable its not right that people come along and say it was bad , show some respect I loved it. lol
Glad you enjoyed the remake and would love to see you make a critique style video but I know how much work you put into creating those huge videos and can't just crank them out willy nilly.
This is the best game of 2023. THE REMAKE everybody ever wanted to play.
i know it seems petty BUT not killing a zombie with a one bullet headshot makes it unplayable for me in any zombie game.
bro what? what zombies games do you play?
You’re seriously missing out on an awesome game.
I never played a RE game before
And I bought the 2 from 2019, and I can’t wait to finish it and buy the 4!
@@CYB3R2K thanks for the comment, I’m definitely doing to have to go back and play the original in all it’s glory
So what if you cant move while aiming?? Just get gud then, you missed out just because your younger and think its "old"
Considering that I never really liked the original, but love the remake, and that the story here, in my opinion, is about twice as good, I have no problem with it winning game of the year. As far as I'm concerned, they had to put almost as much work into this game as they would a new game. If it was a remaster, than sure, but this was built from the ground up as a new game.
I started at resident evil 5 and im hoping it gets remastered next cuz every remaster so far has been a blast
It's like Metal Gear Solid. On the surface it's insane B-grade.
RF Guerilla is one of my favs of ALL TIME.
Most UNDERRATED 1 Player game I can think of.
I played OG RE4 back in 2020… yes, the original truly is as good as people say it is. One of the greatest games I’ve ever played, without a doubt
This game slaps. Never played a Resident Evil game before previously, but I enjoyed the hell out of RE4 Remake.
RESIDENT EVIL 4 IS THE TOP OF TOP FOR SURE.
I beat the original re4 too many times to count. And this remake really scratches that itch. 9.5/10 tbh but even playing through it I was constantly just thinking about the great original level

Yep.
Kudos.
Never knew you were a chess player. Would love to play you sometime. Amazing review on the game btw, this game is something special.
I can’t believe how good this game is. I have never played a Resident Evil game before this remake and I’m blown away.
They should've kept being stationary when aiming, it an intentionally limitation and the ganados were perfectly calibrated for that.
But these garnados aren't those garnados
The Ganados are changed to accommodate the changes on the player’s end. They’re still a very aggressive and smart enemy type. They flank, grapple, surround, dodge, shove, strike, slow approach, charge approach, etc. They have many options and so do you. I like it. It feels more like fun and engaging gameplay rather than arbitrary restrictions
Me growing up on the og made me appreciate the remake more best remake i ever played honestly little to no complaints
IMO it is better than the original and i think it should absolutely be up for a GOTY choice.
I'm so glad you liked it!
I mean obviously RE4 and RE2 are going to be perfect while RE3 was rushed. They're not gonna fuck it up with their boy Leon.

They walked a tightrope. Corny but not too corny. Ashley annoying but not too annoying.
