- In this video, I compare the new OM System OM-5 with its predecessor, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III. These are two mid-range mirrorless cameras with a Micro Four Thirds sensor, and they have a lot in common, but also some important differences. I will show you the main features and performance of both cameras, such as image quality, image stabilisation, autofocus, speed, video, battery life and price. I will also give you my personal opinion on which camera is better overall or for specific purposes. If you are interested in these cameras or you are looking for a compact and versatile mirrorless camera, then this video is for you. Watch it now and don’t forget to subscribe to my channel for more reviews and comparisons.

I use an OMD E-M 1 and the OMD E-M 5 Mk3. I bought the E5Mk3 a year before the OM5 came out. I don't miss anything on this camera, for me it is what I need it to be. I don't want to film with it and I don't need to take 50 or 80MP shots either, it's not necessary for street photography. The 20 MP sensor is enough for me.
I don't have to buy a new one every year. I think I'll have fun with the E-M5 Mk3 for a long time... and that's what matters.
I still have the Olympus OMD EM5 Mk II, and enjoy using it as walk around street photography JPEG camera. I don’t really care about the lack of video features on it. Nice comparison, and thanks for sharing.
OM-5 can't use the Micro USB connection for external power, other than charging the battery. But charging stops when power is switched on. Anyway, it is a superb camera, the extra features are great.
Hi there, thank you for this lovely informative comparison. I am looking for a lightweight and compact camera to use on high altitude expeditions in the Himalayas and I am expecting to get good quality photos of other mountains from the top of the summit. which would be a great? is the OM5 OM System a best option? I'll be very grateful if you guide me. Thank you.
I feel em-5 iii is reasonably well featured for the price. 🙏🏾
In my camera collection that covers Pentax APSC and full frame also Panasonic in full frame and 4/3 along with 3 fujifilm cameras I have Olympus OMD 1MK2 &3, B & H photo has the OM5 MKIII on sale in black for $750, a price to hard to pass up, it is part of my travel camera setup.
If the OM-5 had a USB-C port I might have switched. Otherwise it's not really worth upgrading from my OMD M5 III.
Both still have an old micro-USB port, although the entry level EM10 Mk IV is already fitted with a USB-C port... OM SYSTEM really intents to sell OM1 Mk III...
I have the E-M10 Mk IV and it has a micro USB port.

1:53 this is wrong. The camera shown is not the OM-5 it only has a ND16.
Yes you are absolutely right I own an OM5 and it is not the camera shown in this video !!! I think it might be an OM1 instead of an OM5 ....
@@sop1193 It's not an OM-1 because that goes up to ND64.

Save your money. Either upgrade to the OM-1 (a real upgrade) or stick with the E-M5 Mk III.
OM-5 is a great upgrade, the new features justify that. They are a joy to play with. No bulky and ugly OM-1 for me, thank you...
