Have OM System Lost Their MINDS?!

- I'm speechless. No I'm not :) OM System OM1 II adds a bit of ram and no specs increased. Been waiting 3 years for them to show Olympus did not go out of business. Very minor update. The 150-600mm f5-6.3 is a head scratcher. It's an old DSLR full frame Sigma design, only they somehow made it even heavier than the original, and cost 3 times as much. In fact, if you bought that setup for wildlife, it would be more expensive and heavier than a Canon full frame setup, Nikon, Sony, Fuji and Panasonic. All have cheaper lighter and more capable wildlife photography cameras and lenses. And the 9-18mm f4-5.6 II is just a slight body colour change with no actual upgrades.

IT is twice the reach of the sigma.....1200mm . With the Sigma you only get 600mm for the same weight.
@brounremi7577 jep but he forgot about that...
2x teleconverter, or cheaper aps-c body gives you way more reach than you'd ever need. I'm very happy with the 1.4x tele on my 200-600mm gives me 920mm in 4k 120p. @@brounremi7577
If I could get enough money out of all of my Olympus gear, I would do exactly that, switch... but no one is paying for Olympus gear anymore.
@@2ShoesPhotodepends…what do you have to sell? Let’s talk about it….
"We have seven employees, six are working on IBIS" 😂
The one guy, can't even see out of his left eye.
I think there was a meeting....
First seconds of video, you look pissed! 😂
Olympus lost it with the EM1X. A company with a reputation for exquisite miniaturisation, build something that looks like a 1980s Nikon with all the trimmings.
They lost it with E-M1 MK2... They shouldn't have changed the E-M1 body almost at all. Add a new EVF, third Fun button to front, and upgrade everything and keep going with software updates...
And really focus E-M5 to stay like E-M1 but without integrated grip.
There is a huge camp of M1X religious lovers out there... they swear by it
@@Emerald_City_ And I'm one of them. Best grip of any camera I own. Better than my Sony FF's. However, a good grip does not make up for a cropped sensor. Still, even that bigger body is lighter than Sony FF with battery grips and the lenses are a lot lighter.
I love Olympus and have 2 OM-1s with most pro lenses. This upgrade is a huge disappointment. Minor firmware improvements with increased buffer memory for higher price. Most of these could be added by firmware upgrade to OM-1, which very likely will never happen after introduction of Mark II. Not improving the video features is also a lost opportunity. The new 150-600 mm rebranded full frame Sigma lens, which can not even keep up with the highest frame rates of OM-1 or OM-1 II, for double of the price of the E or L mount versions is even more disappointing. You could buy a full frame Panasonic camera with the L mount lens for the price of OM System lens.....It shows that OM SYSTEM is not doing any R&D and just wants to full the loyal customers and make more money. Very sad. It is also interesting to note that I posted similar comment on OM System and their Ambassadors introductory videos. All of those were deleted.
And what were you looking for?
And how would you pay for it?
@@FierceSleepingDog A sensor upgrade (that's what a person is really buying when they buy a camera); CFexpress cards (using old SD cards in a camera that does 120 FPS is insane); GPS. They held back on all three. Lame.
@@Trigger-xw9gq Maybe a new sensor is in the plans? We just don't see it. Spend R&D money there rather than a clean sheet lens design and its manufacture.
the system was good as long as it lasted but now i see its death coming. i really hope they could turn around and save it all but i just dont see it.
As an MFT user, I laughed way harder than I should have.
I'm still laughing. Laughing so hard, I'm crying. Or, am I crying so hard, I'm laughing.
I got shadow banned on the OM Systems YT channel for asking if 4K 120FPS is coming in a firmware update. I guess I found the 7th employee. True story.
our OM-1 money is perfectly invested
lmao 🤣
It's really too bad, because M.Zuiko glass was so amazing. Loved it.
I used that tiny 9-18mm for years, a delightful lens for a M43 smaller bodies, you can buy it second hand for around US300. M43 should focus on small, light gear + innovative software
You should give that memo to the higher ups. It seems they lost that insight long time ago. G9ii, om1ii, I think it's been quite a while since they release a small body, probably the last is e-p7
Exactly, why buy M43 is it's the same size and cost of FF? It makes no sense, most of M43 lenses and bodies released recently are heavy and expensive @@trym2121
If full frame can keep making lenses and bodies smaller - imagine if MFT could do the same. What would be dope is a foveon sensor on a MFT camera giving it something between apsc and FF resolution in a fraction of the size
I mean, the Nikkor Z DX 12-28 can be had *new* for $360 (frequently on sale for less) and is a lot more versatile with better optics than the 9-18.
@ryankwan1934 you are right, and I would switch to a z30 if it had a viewfinder and ibis
The acting in this skit was top-notch!
Yo Panasonic, will you adopt Olympus? They're currently living in an unsafe household.
Panasonic are merrily discontinuing m43 lenses...
This has all the signs of a company that acquired a bunch of assets from what they bought and are now trying to squeeze blood from a stone while they plan to eventually end the company. Either that or a desperate attempt to restructure/save a failing company. These are refreshes and half assed additions. Olympus users have been wanting (for example) small weatherproof updates to the 1.8 primes for years, and not even a hint of that or another Pen. I think they're simply not making anything new and the good stuff OM has released is mostly just the work of Olympus prior to the acquisition.
Seriously though this was so funny and cathartic.
yes it looks really bad. making as much profit bevor ending it all. probably have to switch systems soon
Olympus had a great 17mm f/2.8 for E-P1 release as it's kit lens.
It is slow to focus and noisy (not MSC), but tiny.
IMHO Olympus should have made f/2.8 primes their cheap 200-250€ each price range.
8mm
12mm
17mm
25mm
50mm
And that's it. A great set of primes. Design like 40-150 R.
And then make the premium line as 17mm f/1.8 with metal shell and not plastic like 45 mm f/1.8.
And those to be priced to 550-650 range if possible.
And finally, Pro line as f1.2 as was...
But Olympus forgot again 4/3 fault, too large bodies... Too large lenses...
All OM-D should have been like E-M10II. The E-M1 was largest it should ever have become by any means, and Mk 2 went way past the respectful size and weight.
40-150 mm PRO is great lens, amazing really.
But let's face it, people want TINY packages... Not large... Crap all those who want big and "ergonomical" as they don't know jack about ergonomics or handling or anything like that.
SECOND mistake Olympus did, was abandon the software updates they did with E-M1... Never was any camera updated as heavily as that one...
And after that Mk2 got like one feature after release...
Seriously, cameras needs to be updated with new features for 6-8 years... Yes... You heard it.
It is low hanging fruit to keep customers loyal to you. They will eventually buy new bodies, but add as much software as you can...
@@Superbus753 They won't be making a profit on the 150-600 if nobody buys it.
I suspect they'll go the Pentax route. Outsource lenses to Sigma and/or Tamron, let the few engineers remaining work on marginal software updates and keep milking their base until they all leave or die.
@@ryankwan1934 Very possible. We don't even know how much of Olympus IBIS patents were licensed to others... Or some other technologies from Olympus patent portfolio.
The OM System can't be considered a serious camera business anymore.
And what is such? It would be a company that could start a any time a completely new format, system and build all the lenses and bodies to it for next 10 years.
Can someone say OM System would be capable for such a feat? No...
Said it back when the sale happened. The company that bought them is known for milking whatever they can out of their acquisitions without any new products. No surprise here, move along.
The idea that OM are milking it is rather dragging on a bit. Originally they were going to sell it straight away according to the doom and gloom pundits but they are carrying on producing kit which is good for the hobbyist still photographer. The fact they cannot keep up with the youtuber reviewers who have an insatiable appetite for video frame rates, codecs and resolution with the prime aim of using the kit to review the kit's suitability for reviewing the kit is neither here nor there for most people.
@@michaeld5888 😆
OM are not innovating and are therefore gradually loosing their USPs (eg Ibis and small form factor and weight). They will gradually fade into obscurity as other manufacturers surpass any previous advantages of the OM (former Olympus) system. Shame.
@@dougmckillop9352 - hmmm. The OM-1.2 has 8.5 stops of stabilization, better than the 1.1 and still class leading. The OM1.2 has 128 Live ND in-camera and 5 stops of GRADUATED ND. Name one other camera that does that. Name one camera that predated the OMS acquisition that does that. OMS completely rebuilt that AF using machine learning tech. They absolutely are still innovating.
Yeah this makes no sense 😂 This is the first time I have felt the system is dying.
yep up to now i was taking it with its pros and cons. but now i think the system is dying.
While traveling for a month with my A7riv and multiple lenses I got to borrow an e-m1x and the 300mm f4 for 2 days. A bizarrely disproportionate number of my favorite shots are from those 2 days. Joke all you want. I sure did, before I tried it for myself.
There is a whole gang of devote followers of the M1X. I guess they're people with large hands...
@@Emerald_City_ No it's people who appreciate quality in both their gear and the images it produces.
@@Emerald_City_you're too kind 😂
@@Emerald_City_ I have medium size hands, but love the grip on the EM1X.
Clickbait based on a BS premise. It looks like this guy was absent in HS basic physics class. The lenses are provably lighter & more compact than the equivalent FF lenses. A robust, weatherproofed metal body should be heavier than the el cheapo plastic fantastic bodies in the same price range from other brands, regardless of sensor size. I don't recommend watching this cr4p channel.
It's almost like OM systems is telling people not to purchase our products and to move on to something else.
Comedy gold today, Johnson! Free sushi for everyone
hey that Deer worked really hard for Employee of the month!
What makes me spit out my cornflakes is the dribble coming out of the mouths of the Olympus fanboy youtubers. Someone needs to give them a reality check for the crap and insanity they are peddling.
Yes, almost total nonsense. There have always been 3 to 4 guys doing Olympus/OM System regular rounds on TH-cam and maybe 2 or 3 extras who may have been given the products to plug this latest launch to complete the theme of photographic hyperbole for all this new stuff. Perhaps with the only exception of DPReview nobody has shown anything that is worth looking at.
I died inside watching the first 150-600 videos praising it as some sort of pinnacle
@@panmaew you mean 4 to 3 guys...
I would get a OM 1 MKI for 800 Dollars used once prices are down.
I love the lenses (35/50 1.2 Pro and the 75-300) and if I ever need sth. I buy it used anyway.
Even if Olympus dies, my gear will stil work.
Maybe I should buy a cheap EM1 MKIII as a spare to my EM1 MKII...?
Any chance of OM Systems selling this camera just went out the window!
New 9-18 msrp is $799, old OLY can't get $250 on the used market now (it's actually not a bad lens for what it is). new should be half of what they are pricing at.
@_cameraconspiracies sure, best way?
Olympus did this before with E-M1 MK III which had the same hardware as E-M1 MKII, just software improvments.
There is a version of Sigma 150-600mm SPORT which weights 2.1 Kg and costs 1500$. Probably this is the design which was used by OM. So the weight actually decreased with 40 grams. :) And Olympus/OMS has more lenses designed by Sigma.
Your video is cool, fun ! I liked it. :)
Yes, sure.
There was a high-water mark, and it was the EM-1 Mark ii.
I still have it and I take it more often with me than my heavy Z7...
I guess I will stick with it...
EM1.2 way better than the OM-1 and OM-1 and 1/2.
You're right. If OM would charge 1500€ to 1600€ for the lens it would be fine, but 2699€ is just inacceptable
Oh man, I was waiting for a sushi joke during that meeting! LOL! I live in the Lehigh Valley, PA area where Olympus has its USA headquarters. They are in the medical equipment business heavily. Their camera technology is now focused on endoscopes for colonoscopies, etc. Thanks for the morning laughs. It was good to see another meeting. Have a great week.
Olympus medical devices are the only surviving part of the original Olympus company. Even microscopes have spun off from the original Olympus which made for some interesting paperwork (I administer lab microscopes). OM System cameras have just like the microscopy company spun off from the original Olympus and are basically their own thing.
Colonoscopies. Interesting. Wonder why kassey hasn't told us about that yet? Since he's an expert on colonoscopies.
No improvement to the sensor. No switch to the appropriate CFexpress card. No GPS. OM, your parking brake is stuck on.
My thoughts are, "If i have nothing nice to say I won't say anything at all."
(Which is why im so glad you have 😂)
Then again Thomas Eisl is very enthousiastic about the subtle but significant improvements to the Mark ii, based on months of actual use and testing. Watch his 1+ hour video. Still I would like to see compact MFT cameras again from both OM and Panasonic, maybe even a tiny fixed lens camera to compete with the Fujifilm X100V and the Ricoh GRiii.
@@tizio54 me too on both counts. I think the smaller, more photo-centric cameras are what make the system shine!
@@tizio54 it really is a weird review (that of Thomas Eisl). It's an odd mixture of an overinflated advertisement balloon, marching on to Lili Marlene song, and a semi-scientific enthusiast pile driver working on a low octane gasoline. Reminds me on that Monty Python's sketch in which Michael Palin impersonates the guy from Ulm... -But Eisl is worth having a look! The alleged AF improvements, high-res modes... improved noise performance etc
To my mind, the OM1 is an interesting case. I don't agree there's nothing nice to say. The OM1 is a great camera. What made it unappealing to me was the complicated autofocus system with notable weaknesses when it comes to people. This seems to have been adressed. The other improvements are small, but still interesting. The only area where I see meaningful potential for improvements is video, but I personally don't care about that so because of the faster sensor, slightly better lowlight performance, the form factor and the better ovf right now, I'd choose the OM1 ii over the G9 ii.
What leaves a bad taste is that the autofocus improvements had been promised to come as a firmware update to the original OM1 which never came so this looks a bit like a rip off, especially since it coincides with the release of two overpriced (not really) new lenses.
It's really a shame. A wasted opportunity.
@Garrus4Spectre this is my issue too, a lot of it should have been a firmware update. It doesn't even seem to be enough of a bump to be classed as an "om1s" (like a halfway update like the GH5s was before the GH6 arrived), let alone an entire update. I love the OM1, it is excellent, but I'm not buying an entirely new camera (£500 more than the G9ii, which in my opinion - especially for my needs - is a much better camera) for something I believe we all should have got via a firmware update for free.
And yes, the lenses! I've just bought my second copy of the 9-18, such a great lens. I paid around £260 used both times used. I was sad I had bought it again before the new version was announced. But no real improvements and £700?! I am no longer sad 😂
I think OM Systems broke Kasey! I could see the anger and the pain! As a Pentaxian, I feel better about our lowly estate! At least we have some respectable cameras! I feel bad about OM... I thought they might have done a NIkon turn around, but now 😭
This is it.
It's been nice knowing you OM.
This would have been even funnier if it wasn't all true!!!!! Is the joke on OM-Systems, or the idiots that will actually purchase any of these items?
Very disappointed the OM1 mkii and the new 150-600mm lens pander to a small number of Pro Wildlife photographers. The combination at over £4700 takes it out of range of most potential upgrade candidates. Maybe time to look at other systems!!
I'm bailing on m43. OMD has been a disappointment.
That’s basically what i thought when I’ve seen the news. This OM1 MK2 is a joke as well as how OM System manage price of their gear. Because I’ve bought my OM1 two year ago for 2200$. Then they made some offer for 1700$. Which is a shame because the resell value of this camera is basically a joke right now. So I’m stuck with it. They just deserve me to leave this joke. But I will resell my camera for what ? 1000$ max ? And my lenses ? I will maybe get enough to buy an X-PRO 3 and one lens. That’s all !
Of all the lenses they could adapt, they picked a Sigma lens. Sigma, known for heavy lenses. I think they're trolling us.
all companies are at this point. Nikon made zf without a grip, superb video specs (for a nikon), flip screen and photo dials on top!
You always make me laugh! Great show.
I would go for the G9ii in your list. But I still do TH-cam with a GH5 and I love it!
Johnson only makes $15 an hour. That explains everything.
Lol OM should shut down. Insulting camera release.
OM1 Mark 1 and G9II here, combined with the 40-150 F2.8 Pro, the 300 F4 Pro and the 12-40 F2.8 Pro and both TC... (I came from 30 years of NIKON, lastly the Z7II) I am very disappointed. Their website says we work every single day on getting your already bought camera better via firmware. The last update was from summer 2023, now we know why we did not and will not get any update. They 'found' some extra buffer RAM (which should have been already in that camera) and for the rest got the firmware update of the Mark 1 and planted in the the Mark 2 (the AF in the Mark 1 desperately needs that update). It makes me furious to see how they think they can deceive us with a Sigma lens. All those ambassadors seem to like it. I am not gonna exchange my 300 F4 Pro for that piece of sh.... Again you hit the nail, spot on with this video... and I think you even stayed to kind for them.
Since they have so little market share so they they think they can be the next Leica, so let's raise the price and make OM system a premium brand, LOL. What a joke. I am so done with this system, anyone want to guess how many more decades they will keep using a 20MP tiny sensor?
The Panasonic Pony got its eyes and ran wild over that OM Sis factory! Holy cow, $2,400 and people complain about the g9ii price??
Om-1 II is a significantly better still camera than the g9 ii. G9 II is a significantly better video camera than the OM-1.
I saw an OM ambassador make a video about this lens and said the same thing lol what a joke
I really like my E-m1 iii but this new launch is really disappointing. Ill probably jump to a g9 ii after a price reduction...
That role playing early on in the video, I'm thinking Golden Globe, Academy Award in the making, well done.

The "How to show everyone we are riding a dead horse while ripping of the customers most" award goes to OM-Sushi ....
I’ve been saying, for years, that OM has no money. If Olympus believed that they, as a $7.5 billion per year company, couldn’t run the camera division any more, as they were losing a lot of money on that division for several years, then how the heck could OM do it? Yes, Olympus gave them $300 million in cash. But that was just enough to run the company for about a year. So what did they do all this time? They released projects that Olympus was working on and mostly finished. And now what? Given how much it costs to develop new lenses and cameras, with their tiny sales, they just aren’t bringing in enough. I’m surprised they’re still in business. But their fans will buy anything, I suppose. Go to those channels and you’ll see how excited they seem to be with everything OM does. It’s ok, it’s all great. No, really, it is! Isn’t it? Um, hello, anyone out there?
I bought all my OLY gear second hand and very cheap...
No problems with the 35 and 50mm 1.2 Pros... I almost get that full frame look.
@@Fuchs85DE it depends on the print size and your acceptability of quality. The format is still in a downward spiral.
The Sigma 150-600mm lens for Canon was the reason I switched to M4/3. You've got to laugh.
I feel bad watching this. The people at OM probably worked really hard to get this camera out despite it being kinda of pointless. Olympus was very corrupt and the issues go back more than a decade, so OM bailing themselves out of this mess is going to take a very long time and it's success will likely reply heavily on partnerships so at least the die hard MFT telephoto fans have something. I mean yeah it's a tough sell but go easy on them it's like beating up a kids four grades below you, that's just mean lol.
Kasey, that first part (with Johnson and the boss) was hilarious! You are getting better and better! If 'the boss' had been wearing a tie, it would have been perfect! Great combination of technical information and superb comedy!

A repackaged Sigma 150-600 for close to double the price. What a deal. OM Systems must be a government front as they understand how to inflate prices for budgeting purposes ($600 hammers, $1,000 toilet seats, etc).
Umm - it's more than just a "rebadged Sigma." The OMS lens has 6 stops of in-lens stabilization and 7 with Sync-IS, the Sigma glass only 4. The OMS has 4 lenses with ED coating, the Sigma makes no mention of this optical upgrade. You don't like the price, don't buy the lens.

Love it, brilliant exactly what I’ve been saying on the OM TH-cam channels and the OM die hards keep jumping on my comments essentially telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about… I’ve recently moved to M4/3 from SONY FF (fool I know) to try and benefit from reduced size and weight… anticipating a nice new hand hold able 150-600 and what do they put out a lens that almost same weight as my old Sony 200-600 I just sold… what are these OM SYSTEMS people in positions of power smoking??? 🤷♂️🤦♂️
They ain't smoking anything... Olympus already lost it with E-M1 Mk2 in size and weight. Instead Mk2 being exactly as Mk1, they should have cancelled E-M1 line and made E-M5 II as what OM-1 is. That was what... 2016...
The 150-400 f/4.5 came 4-5 years too late. As did premium version too.
And E-PM was cancelled. That should be like GM1... But with modern specs like E-PL10.

An intro that takes up 1/3 of the video? Is there any way you could stretch that to the entire clip? The cinema could be yours!
How to destroy a company
I wouldn't mind the 150-600 rebadge if they didnt more than double the price. It also...doesn't look very sharp on m43. I looked at the product page on OM's site, and the bird samples just dont look great. Feathers are fairly blurred together, and I'm very tolerant of lens flaws but it reminds me of the sort of quality i would get from my old Nikon 55-300, a notoriously soft lens.
What would you use it for ? I photograph birds with the 300mm F4 and rarely even need the MC-14 TC to get even small wrens to cover the frame without any cropping. [Something that's very difficult to achieve with a FF camera due to longer minimum focus distances and depth of field].
It's telling IMO that OM sent the pre-release gear only to stores, OM ambassadors and a few very small creators.
I'd have expected a video from Petapixel at least 🤷♂️
You'd think petapixel would have one with all the podcast sponsorship
Yeah they've been shilling OM for months now and maybe that created a conflict of interest. OM probably doesn't want an unbiased review from them and Petapixel doesn't want to lose a sponsor.
Lol! It's true, om has no interest/ability to make new bodies. Just software features and lenses they can outsource or rebrand. I just buy used MFT lenses, there's so many. Too bad, I love Olympus but I am about four generations behind this one.
The funniest part of this is how the OMS fanbois are going to come swarming. 🤣
IT IS a new Blackberry Story.
@_cameraconspiracies why not. Visit me in Germany.
It reminds me of Nokia back then.. 😂😢 I loved Nokia..
Pentax should give JIP a box of seaweed to take over OM System. Pentax knew miniaturization (Q), and it can then have a real mirrorless system (not the K-01).
I still love my EM1 MkIIs. They focus well and the images look terrific. Even 4K video looks great. That said, I'd love to have better video formats beyond the Cinema 4K30 (like 4k60, FHD 120 and 240) , but for the amount of video I do at the moment, it's not really worth the cost to upgrade. It's interesting (not to mention disappointing) that OM Systems seems to be sort of pissing away the reputation that took Olympus years to build.
I looked at OM late last year and found the weight, cost etc was nothing better than APSC or FF. I was out at that point.
Yet their camera bodies are lighter and smaller than the Panasonic's. But more expensive.
The Oly 75-300mm ==> where is the eqivalent in FF?
OM SYSTEM the original name of Olympus when it was film based camera, has come first again at making a lens that can over-heat hahahah i love coming to channel after crying all day due to picking this brand,,, i come here to cry what little i have left in the tank 😂 i would buy two OM SUSHI too eat
As a long time Olympus fanboy I came to the same conclusion. Still love my e-M1 iii and PEN-F, but I’m writing off OMDS for this nonsense. And the much vaunted AF still sucks.
OMDS has become the BlackBerry of cameras, living off patent licensing royalties as I’m sure even at these prices they are losing money due to their distribution overhead.
So don’t buy the extra heavy lens or the extra expensive 150 to 400 w/built in teleconverter. Buy the 300 f4 which is sharp as hell with one or both converters. You have reach portability and great image quality for less money. If you physically don’t want to move to reframe you’re not going want to handhold those other beasts cuz you’re a lazy git or a tripod weenie and still lazy.
I’ve never seen private equity grow anything. That’s not their purpose. Drive price and slash costs. Then sell the business in whole or parts for a decent return. Purpose fulfilled. Any products they offer in the meantime are a ruse to attract potential buyers. Sad, but true.
I imagine Olympus knew it was game over for the system when they sold this part of the business.
I might buy my wife it.
I am convinced that OM Systems bought the Olympus camera division to close it and milk it for all the cash they can get while managing closing the business. You won't see a new Pen F because they will move forward with only existing models. As for the E-M10 they will not offer a replacement. They do not make enough money from that camera to continue to produce it, yet alone upgrade it. I unfortunately have an E-M10 Mark IV and although I think it is a great entry level camera, I regret having bought it. I likely will upgrade to a Lumix model in the future. I believe in Micro Four Thirds, but not in OM Systems.
Why do you regret it? Sell it to me.
I can't fucking stand where OMD is going with this shit.
m43 allows you to use much lighter and smaller optics and body than FF for the same effective focal length. That's literally a built-in "feature" of using a smaller m43 sensor.
So what do they do?
Make a brick of a massive body and make their lenses bricks as well, just as bricky as their FF and APS-C competitors, but now without the advantages of larger sensors.
Oh, but they have way more computational shooting modes, which is true, but computation is literally code and circuits and weighs fuck-all.
Amazing how they just give up such a natural competitive advantage - half the reason traditional cameras are dying is because smartphones and mobile cameras are so light and easy to carry around so people BUY THEM TO CARRY AROUND ALL THE TIME.
I’m so tired of OM Systems catering to wildlife photographers! They have all the tools they need to make an incredible street photography camera that rivals the X100V . Or building a capable kit for wedding and portrait photographers with some solid prime upgrades.
Right now the biggest market for the OM System is TH-cam "influencers" desperately pushing this stuff.
it's mostly old geezers who don't realize Sony,Nikon and Canon even exist.
@@mikerichardson60 Bullshit. I am an old geezer, and I was shooting Canon and Nikon before you were born, pipsqueak.
That’s your best angle yet brotha. Maybe just move that top shelf item to left a foot. Looks great
Had to laugh and cry at the same time. I use M43 and can say right now I use it because of the size and weight, I see no inferiority in image quality over 135. Using 135 lenses as m43 native lenses is rather stupid, someone in OM systems is listening to Americans who like everything bigger, and even bigger as bigger is better, right? That is not so in the real world. Even Canon and Nikon have now realised that making mirrorless after years of poisoning resellers and users to them. Yet they both have some way to go to catch m43. Also they should never be able to catch m43 in making lighter lenses for equivalent specs. Maybe OM Systems should license and help a company like Lowa to make compact AF lenses, they seem to be doing OK with their MF range.
All you OM System Lovers. Come back and comment when they actually create something new. I owned the OM-1, which was made by Olympus, and it was great, but was hoping the OM-5 was going to be a new camera. After its release, I realized that this company is not able to create new cameras on its own. Now it looks like they can't make lenses either. Maybe they should team up with Sigma and utilize the Foveon technology.
All jokes aside. I’m enjoying the OM-1. Lighter, Faster, and 100% hit rate on focusing. Coming from a 5D.
The olympus 150-600 is ridiculous. At that price, I'd rather buy a used 300 f4 than that sigma/tamron rip-off. They should improve on the 100-400 that has no sync IS, or create a new prime like 400 f5.6 / 300 f2.8
3:50 Deer going to eat all our sushi... Comedy timing genius 😂
You’re comparing the om system 600mm to full frame 600mm lens.. that’s not a correct comparison, the m43 600mm is equivalent to 1200mm lenses
Thank god I didn't invest too hard in Olympus. I only have OM-1, EM1 Mark II, 12-40 F2.8 Pro, 40-150 F2.8 Pro, 300mm F4 Pro, 1,4xTC, 15mm PanaLaica ... OMG what have I done ...
The kit you have is all excellent stuff (and you can really enjoy what you have) - it's the future that maybe doesn't look so rosy.....
Dude that kit is great! Despite the vid the Om-1 is a fantastic camera.
A fabulous combination of glass and camera, fit to take absolutely fantastic pictures, if it all works do you really need to upgrade, the i behind the viewfinder is much more important than the ai within.
They could have integrated some nice speedbooster in that large FF 150-600, then it will be brutal lens.
I wonder why OM didn't think to instal speedbooster there to win 1 stop of light. This would somehow justify the price
sigma 150-600 EF + VILTROX EF-M2 0.71x (f4-5.6 213-852 FF equivalent)
I think the next OM Systems release will follow Leica and be an OM-1 mark 3 that is only monochrome with a Sigma full frame 85mm lens rebranded to OM. Police stations will buy it for criminal portraits. (BTW: Love your video today.)
Then you'd have a Pentax 2.0
It is said that the new 150-600mm MFT adapted Sigma 150-600mm. It should be heavier than one genuine for MFT.
Did you save the kangaroo??? Do they offer proper live insurance and 401K for the 5 employees ? Are they hiring?…
ROFL - I knew you were going to do the meeting bit!
I think OM Systems is a Camera Conspiracies fan and loves it when you troll them.
But, I still use their stuff. Not buying into another system now.
The first part of the video is so funny I''m watching it twice.
The only thing they had going for them was the "Olympus" brand .... so they decided to drop that. WTF is "OM System"? It's like buying Rolls Royce and rebadging it "RR Cars."
