Awesome! I literally just picked up a (cheap chinese) saxophone a month ago for my 66th birthday, after falling in love with the tenor after listening to Pandora streaming "Dinner Jazz" for a long time. I have no musical ability and can't read notes yet, and during my "practicing" I kept getting excited and accidentally hitting the side keys, 'spoiling' the note i was trying to hit. Then I accidentally figured out the 'trilling' but didn't realize until your video that it could be a 'technique' and could be used, along with chromatics and drops as a cool interlude. Thanks for the vid and for showing both your left and right hands whilecyou video so we could watch and learn. I am astounded at the number of 'instructional' vids that only show a closeup where we, the viewer, can only see the left hand🤦♂️ Liked and subscribed. I hope to keep advancing, i probably only have 15-20 years left😢😂
Do you know how to trill from middle or 2nd octave Bb/bis to C? Using the side C when the bis key is down results in a flat C. I tried using both the side Bb and side C keys together and it's a little sharper but still not quite a C. So what's the easiest fingering from Bb to C when in say... the key of C#?
Bb with the side key (not bis) then just lift your first finger on your left hand (the B key) and leave everything else down. It's super fast, clean, and in tune.
@@ScottPaddock Yes, but then going from Ab/G# (below) to Bb becomes a nightmare. You have to lift the left fingers and press the right Bb side key together.(Forget trilling) I'm looking for a smooth transition both up and down from Bb :( In other words I want to be able to trill or go smoothly BOTH directions from Bb. That's why I've been using Bb bis only using the side keys to go from Bb bis to C.

Can you please do a video on basic music theory specific to saxophone?
I've done some theory lessons, but nothing specific to sax, as most theory isn't specific to an instrument, but everything I do is saxophone based.
thanks scott
