Stunt Trills, Love it Jamie! I thought for SURE I would know them all...NOPE. I'm not getting the "special prize." Great stuff man, hope the weather over there is as nice as it is here (in the colonies).
Great trills! I used to teach the Bb-B trill about 30 years ago to sax classes by playing it with my back turned and then seeing if they could figure it out. Great video.
CRAZY! That B to Bb takes the cake as super unique. Plus, I doubt I have the dexterity to keep enough pressure on the keys and still reach the Bb pad with my pointer finger. Because you showed the world this technique, it won't be long for some crazy composer to incorporate in a virtuoso piece. Thanks alot.
Hey Jamie - just been trying out these trills - which are brilliant - and while doing the side E trill I chanced on a fingering that is new to me. If you finger octave G#, A or bis key B flat while also playing the side E key, you get the fifth note above i.e high E flat, E and F. It means you can go from say E to A to octave above E really easily.
Jamie, I've noticed that on your live shows a lot of people ask you how to figure out what key a song is in. Your explanation about the dominant note might work for you, but for those of us with far less experience, it's still difficult. I've found that if I just try to find the last note of the melody, I've usually found the key. So, a song in the key of C normally ends in a C note. A song in the key of G, usually ends in a G note. The note that brings final resolution us usually the key. I use this trick to figure out how to play a song on my harmonica. Most songs will end with blowing out on the 4th or the 8th hole, which are the notes that correspond to the key of the harmonica.
Have you ever thought of doing a video on how to play darker and with more edge using the same mouthpiece/set-up? Seems like a fairly large and interesting topic.
I cover that in detail in my Total Tone Mastery course. Might not help you unless you wanna invest though, sorry! (It’s worth it though) www.getyoursaxtogether.com/ttm
Need and find a use for are two different things. "Need" means someone else tells you to do it that way and you need to it for them. I can "find a use" for trills like these. It means I can use it whenever the opportunity arises to do something that couldn't otherwise be done. I will definitely find a use for some of these. Thanks!
Jamie, this is wild; you're so much fun. You always give us great stuff to use. Do you have any recordings (video) where you're using these trilling techniques? P.S. I'm working through your Total Tone Mastery course--fantastic. Looking forward to your improv course.
@@Alexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx87 trill all the front keys together. Ooh, actually no, play C# but trill using the palm F key only. That’s the one. Dick Parry from Pink Floyd does that.

😂 Many thanks Wally!!
This was almost as much fun as watching you teach your family to play! Love the outtakes at the end, too!
Thanks 😊

Yup, you’re dead right. This usually works for standards etc but not everything. 👍🏻
Suggestions for low Bb trill on vintage instrument with B/Bb on the left side of bell. 😁
Great tutorial 👍
Get the trumpet player to do it! 😂

Good fun stuff!!! I’m on it
Awesome 👏🏻
Last one you couldn’t do if you have an old school buescher with low pads on opposite side. Thanks for in depth explanation on the trills.
Drat! I guess I'll have to sell my Buescher Super 400!
Get the trumpet player to do it 😂
good tricks Jamie, Cheers. Some coffee!
Thanks so much! 😊
nice one Jamie, this was fun.... :-)
You’re welcome 😊
Hey could you please make a tutorial for the sax solo on ,,It’s raining again” by Supertramp ? 😄
I’ll certainly add it to my list.

Hay, iam New subscriber here, greeting from Japan !
Konnichiwa Mikki!! 今日は
Do you do the G G# trill. I do that on C# blues with my right hand on the G# key
That’ll work!
How about trill low B/Bb, with fex a Conn, with the flaps on the other side?:)
No go! 😂
How to practice sax with only the right hand? My left hand go fractured at work. Any advice please?
Yeh, I already answered you. 👍🏻
Fantastc👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks 😊
Early i love your videos
Thanks a lot!
Super fun video!! Hey Jamie, check out the descending trill by Brandon Fields on “Undercover” at 2:14. LMK your thoughts.
Send me a link? I’ve got so many comments to read and reply to I haven’t got time to go searching for a track etc. Apologies!
I've a question - what's front E?
It’s like a G fingering but you press the front F key with tour LH first finger instead of the B key. That’s how you play top E sometimes.
@@GetYourSaxTogether Thanks - I'll have to try that.
Wow
Thanks 🙏🏻
What about c# to e?
Yeh you can do that too.
@@GetYourSaxTogether how do I do that? From c# to E trill
