    Thanks for the setup guide. I use a "dummy battery" instead of using the camera battery. Works great and no more draining of the battery.

    I'm really impressed by the look of the 576p output, looks much better than the specs would have you believing

      It's even better when this works with models that are not listed on the site. I have used this with a old 5dmk2 and a T2i

    Great video! But it's not working for me. I have an R5 and I get the computer icon on my camera screen as if it's connecting to my computer to download photos. It's in video mode and the web cam utility is running. I don't see an app. Does the utility just run in the background? Seems my camera is not being recognized.

    Great job, I have been keeping an eye on these updates just tested this with older Canon camera models and have been pleased the new version still works with older cameras.

    Thanks for the video! It may be interesting to some to note that this works on more Canon models then listed. I have a 5DII and 5DIII, the list says it works on the 5DIII but it actually works on both the 5DII and 5DIII.

    Great video! One note. You keep mentioning EOS R instead of R5, but you click on the EOS R5 and the title of the video is R5. It is kind of confusing.

      I’m not used to saying “R5” yet. I had the EOS R for the longest time before the R5. The camera I was using in the video was the R5. Sorry for the confusion. 🤭

    I spent an hour on help with Canon tech support and got a dead end. I have a Canon R5 and a MacBook Pro M1 from 2021. I was simply trying to use it for Zoom, and it needed this EOS Webcam Utility. The Canon R5 is recognized by macOS and works fine with EOS Utility 3 for live view, but the camera isn’t being detected by the EOS Webcam Utility Pro software. Despite trying multiple machines, cables, and troubleshooting steps, the camera won’t show as a video source in the webcam utility. Any ideas?

    You can get 1080p out of the EOS R if you have the stop motion firmware, not that it's worth the extra $100 and lack of use of the HDMI out.

    I swear man I try to do the tethering stuff about 3 weeks ago when I had an event and it gave me nothing but problems all night long but I finally got all that stuff situated now that I want to use it as a webcam to do tutorials for my new TH-cam video it will not connect at all and I've been on this for 2 days straight. If I connect through eosh utilities then that means my internet's not on through the computer because it connects through the wi-fi. So my question is do I leave my internet on and just plug in my camera or do I connect it via through the camera through heosh utilities and get a connection like when I tether

  • @Boxtermaiti

    btw on the whole "battery depletes while using" thing. The solution is to buy a dummy battery that connects straight to a wall socket. This way you have unlimited power

    Hi Stan, did you ever run into the issue of the camera restarting (or the shutter closing for a moment)? Even with continuous power, I get a restart at 30 minutes anyway. I'm not recording and in video mode. Yet still 30 minutes the shutter resets. Canon 80D.

    • @SuprUsrStan
      @SuprUsrStan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The camera will not charge when it’s being used. You have to buy one of those battery dummy ac adapter kits. The battery door actually has a little cutout for where the dummy battery cable is supposed to come out when the doors closed.

    Hi,
    I installed the utility and set up my EOS 60D. It was quick and easy. This camera is superior to the camera on my laptop. HOWEVER, I am getting no audio. I also tried installing my RODE mic but still got no audio. Is it supposed to transmit audio, too?

    • @variousvisfineart
      @variousvisfineart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a slight lag in the video.

    • @SuprUsrStan
      @SuprUsrStan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I said in the video, the cable does not transmit audio. You need a separate audio solution.

    • @cacatachi
      @cacatachi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could do a tutorial to fix about the audio. So we would transmit without the need for OBS

    Have you tried checking the video quality, like when you use it for zoom? I called my phone just to see what it looks like and the video quality is poor, very different from the one we're seeing at our own pc screen. I asked some of my friends to take a screenshot and for some reason, quality of my feed was awful.

    • @SuprUsrStan
      @SuprUsrStan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be more of a function of zoom compression and data rates. For example, if the upload or download was slow that would change video quality. Something local like OBS shows the potential of the camera as a webcam. I don’t think it’s fair to judge the canon webcam system purely on a poor zoom connection. That said, the capture I showed in this video is a best case scenario.

    Question. I have the 5D Mark IV I got it working with Zoom finally (with the recent Canon webcam utility that was released) but my problem is, the auto focus won't work. I am using the camera to broadcast my daughter's 1st bday to our family back east. So I'll be moving it around and wont be stationary. (I have various lenses but will using the 24-105) So I'll be moving, zooming but when in the Zoom utility, it won't auto focus unless I do it manually. Any thoughts? I've tried all the focus settings on the camera but in Zoom, it doesn't focus. It works fine and auto focuses when I am not using it in Zoom (it even works in the canon remote utility) So I am guessing it could be something Zoom is doing or doesn't allow the camera to have all it's functions? Thanks !! Mark

    • @TheK9Shepherd
      @TheK9Shepherd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just found the issue (trick?)
      I was letting Zoom put the camera into live Mode/Movie mode (hearing the mirror click into the up position) without turning the selector switch on the camera. That's why the auto focus wasn't working !!! All you have to do is just turn the live mode/movie mode selector switch on camera either before you start a meeting or even after starting the meeting. So Zoom can still active the live mode/movie mode on the camera, but to get auto focus you have to turn the selector switch on the camera to live mode/movie mode. Then you also see the output on the back camera display and auto focus works !! Hope I explained that clearly. :)

    Do we have to manually disable the camera's auto-off or does the software does that for you?

    • @SuprUsrStan

      I think you may have to disable the auto off feature. It didn’t come to mind for me because I probably have it set to a very long setting.

    How can i use my canon for windows 7?

  • @karthikr177
    @karthikr177 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am using a Canon 80d. I want to use this camera as the webcam for zoom. I have installed the software and zoom detects this camera as a webcam. In canon 80d I have to change the dial to video more on a separate button and then I would have to connect the camera to the computer. But when I am in the webcam mode using Canon 80d after 2 minutes the screen freezes and I get an error in the camera saying error 70. If I am shooting on the photo mode I can use this camera as a webcam but the problem is there is no auto focusing that works continuously also the video is a little bit cropped. Can someone please help me with this issue

    4:27 "if you need something higher, such as 1080p or 4k you could always use your hdmi output and there's a whole guide on that on their website" False. You cannot connect HDMI output to computer in anyway. Only to TV. There is no guide about connecting R5 through HDMI to computer
