- Today I take a look at the Dragon Series from Bladnoch. A series aiming to showcase the evolution from distilling to bottling.
This is what Bladnoch says about the Dragon Series :
'Inspired by the Dragon Curve, a fractional curve in mathematics that emerges from a simple origin. Every iteration in its approach to infinity is ruled by unpredictability - until the chaos evolves into a natural, spectacular order.
The Dragon Series pays homage to this timeless battle between Science and Nature. Each Iteration highlights the scale of variability in the whisky production process while celebrating the inherent beauty that emerges each step of the way. '
I tasted this series with the master distiller Dr. Nick Savage at an online event so I will recall my notes and compare this series with the Bladnoch new make and one of my favourite examples of Bladnoch, the 11. Enjoy!

New make is always so fruity, but it's so insightful to have it when comparing a range of younger expressions with the age statement release. Nicely done!
Oh absolutely! Whenever I can, I always try yo compare the new make with the whisky. Thanks for watching
Good review- glad to know about this distillery and these offerings.
Thanks for watching
I'm doing a day off or week end off alcohol wise, as I had a big tasting on thursday with some barflies in Paris, but will check out asap my 2 Bladnoch bottles regarding your lactic note, I don't recall it now but will see if I find some in the 2 only bottles I have (a 10 yo OB bottled between 2017 & 2019 and an indie bottling of a 22 yo), to be followed !
Looking forward to your comment Greg. When I mentioned it on the roundtable with Roy, Jim, Vin and Jeff, Roy said he finds Bladnoch to be one of the most lactic whiskies out there. See what you find. Cheers!
@@thewhiskyenthusiast yeah I remember but not my tasting notes, will keep you posted when I'll try them again
Interesting set up, but I have to say the amount of marketing blabla from the distillery is a bit overwhelming tbh....it is a ton...(& hem it seemed you agree 🤣). Besides, always interesting to try unreduced or not too much reduced new make, Cheers ! 🥃
Hahahah yeah just give us the whisky, we don't need or want the BS! Yes I find trying the newmakes against the end product always helps. Cheers Greg
