I enjoyed the hell out of the 11. Really good stuff. Super funky and fermented. Love it. It has that rotten fruit note that I also find in Kilkerran. Beautiful stuff. Was hoping you found that in the Vinaya, because it’s a bit more easy on the wallet oof. Also love that our palettes are so similar. Can always count on 10/10 accurate recommendations from you. Except the Craigellachie. That was a letdown 😅

Great review as usual Geoff. I've had the 10, 11 and liora, and that's my order of preference as well. Its a brand that is trying so hard to go premium that I don't think I'll be able to keep up. The bottles make great decanters though, so there is that!
Hah yeah they're definitely trying. And they've got a good quality and unique whisky, so they do have my respect as whiskymakers. But like you, I'm not sure I can keep up. The 11 year old was a favourite, and I bought it at a fair price in 2022. I'm just not ready to spend USD $100 on it this year.

I definitely got that cheesy, not-good-funk note in their 10. But found the Vinaya pleasantly surprising as well. Based on cost to quality, this would be my go-to if I ever bought a Bladnoch.
Hah well long story short, I used to have separate segments for the palate and the finish, and I added that move to visually distinguish the palate from the finish. I've since combined palate and finish segments, but kept the move for no other reason than to have my own pretentious signature. 😂
I've no wish to defend over-priced whiskies, but on WhiskyJason Bladnoch claim there were quite limited stocks of casks when the current owner bought it from their predecessor. Production then was pretty low/sparse. Vinaya is a nas mix of "new" Bladnoch from 2017-onward and older stuff from previous regime. Age-stated releases are all from older stocks, for now. The father of the Australian owner of Bladnoch is Indian, hence the claimed connexion with Sanskrit words/culture/ideas. May or may not still be marketing BS. I've only tried a small shop sample of Vinaya and didn't enjoy it: seemed overly tropical, but far from a proper assessment. From your and others' reviews the 11 sounds pretty interesting but it's ~77 euros locally so I'll pass.

Whats interesting, despite of heavy restrictions on imports in my region I've been able to buy a bottle in a far suburbs just yesterday 😂 and was easy on the wallet... But taste wise... For me a little bit flat despite of high abv plus young distillates tangeable harshness... Nonetheless it's not a waste, would use in old fashioned twisted 😂

Hmmm...Well, the Vinaya is the only Bladnoch expression offered here and I picked one up about two months past. It was an impulse purchase. I was hoping that this would be a nifty Lowland addition to the Auchentoshan. When I got it home, I cracked the bottle open, poured out a dram, and tasted it. What I got was something that tasted like the worst Irish whiskey I've had (Murphy's), only it was missing the archtypical shortbread cookie note entirely. I thought it dreadful. The worst 'character' ever. I corked it and reboxed it, setting it aside to be gifted to some unsuspecting noob. So far as I'm concerned, this rates below the Ardmore Legacy.
Ouch! Yeah this is one of those love it or hate it brands. I heard some similar comments when I recommended the 11 a while back. Definitely not for everyone. Sorry to hear you didn't connect with it. 🥃
