Definitely! Colleges appreciate upward trends in your GPA. Also, in my opinion, your 11th-grade grades are the most important in college applications so if you do well and show that improvement you'll be more than okay :)
@@cecehardinge2776 not really… if you have an uptrend with your marks you are fine! My university counselor says many universities prefer an uptrend rather than constant high marks

hey! congrats on your results! i am starting the ib dp this year and i was wondering, if i would like to apply to the top 20's in the US, do i need to take the SAT/ACT? or can i apply with the ib diploma?
thanks a ton! each t20 has its own requirement for the SAT/ACT, for example, Uchicago is test-optional. Although most require it, I would recommend you research each school's individual requirements.
thank you for doing this video you're the first person I've seen on yt who's done GCSEs !! I'm from the UK and just can't find anyone's stats videos including them hahah, also i got the exact same GCSEs as you apart from one grade lmao and I'm planning to apply to the US so this really helped:)
I got bad grades in my school exams but got all A’s and A*s in my igsce and Alevels. I wanted to know if bad school transcript would affect my admissions to these universities. Please help. I am very worried. It will mean alot
Honestly, my sophomore year (this year) really went downhill. I got a U, yes a 0 score, for my IGCSE first term report in one of the class and lots of B's. I can't fully focus on my schoolwork this year because I was hospitalized. I'm really scared on how the college admissions might view my freshman and sophomore grades. Do the admission, especially UK college admissions, really take an account on my first two years of high school or it doesn't really matter as they will focus on the last two year?
Hi. Congrats on getting into so many incredible schools! I had a question though: since IGCSE is a separate education entity, do colleges such as Oxford evaluate/convert your scores when reviewing your college applications, or do they mainly consider your IBDP scores. If they do, would all a's and a*'s be considered a 4.0 GPA?
yeah all top colleges convert scores. and all as and a*s would be a 4.0 for your unweighted gpa (doesn't consider difficulty of subject/ course) but possibly higher or lower for your weighted gpa (considers difficulty)
Hey! I hope this isn't too late, but I always recommend a 38/42 for any top colleges. With very good ECs you can afford a 36-37 as well. Hope that helps!
Since I'm not an admissions officer I don’t have a yes or no answer to that, but the fact that you're valedictorian gives great context to your GPA. There must be a reason the valedictorian’s GPA is a 3.3, such as extremely hard tests or strict teachers, and colleges know this through the school profile. If you managed to succeed through that I don't see why the ivys wouldn't consider you.
I am currently in grade 10 . Studying in India . ICSE board so can you let me know what all things I ha e to do for getting to a good university in California.. most probably I would like to go to California after high school that is grade 12
Like you, I did my IGCSE and my 9th grade was really bad (much worse than yours) and my GPA was around a 3.4 based on your chart. I got all As and A*s on my final IGCSE exams in 10th grade. However, after I moved to the US, my high school directly calculated a GPA and gave me a 3.3. Will I be disadvantaged if I have a low GPA? Will colleges recalculate it based on your chart? For context, I have a high SAT. Thanks, and congrats on getting in to so many great colleges!
Thanks! No don't worry at all. I don't know why your hs converted your GPA, but colleges won't do that since they evaluate IGCSEs as a separate education entity. Props to you for moving in the middle of hs that must have been hard. Good luck!
Hey! They consider both. Your 11th final grades are more important for US universities while predicted grades are more important for the UK. Your 11th final grades are definitely the most important for US universities, but if your 12th-grade grades and predicted grades show improvement/upward trend that is great too!
I don’t know if you’re still looking at these videos still but anybody’s answer helps. i totally messed up a semester of school (i only got a B and the rest were D’s and F’s) but for my other 5 semesters I got a 4.17 GPA or higher, plus summer school. So will my one failed semester screw me over?
I'm not sure if you are still working on your application or not but i might as well still answer. If the messed up semester was 1-2 years ago, it will have a lesser impact on colleges rather than if it were say...your last semester or something. More importantly, if you can sufficiently justify your score drop in the application, you should hopefully be fine. (your gpa for the rest of the semesters is great, so you still have a pretty good chance)
Did you attend hs outside of the US? If so you're exempted from the history requirement, you just have to take some sort of social science (I did econ).
This video was so helpful! I am going to 11th grade and currently picking my IB subjects. Is chemistry mandatory if we plan on majoring in public health? And would you say the economics is helpful?
