i love the determination but don't make a promise to yourself. its always good to never set your heart to a specific college because we never know what can happen. if rejections happen, it can honestly very much hurt so keep Yale as ur dream school but explore other options as well! this way u can survive better in the whole application process.

I am watching a bunch of these videos on how to get into Yale, because my favorite author majored in English here. I've always wanted to become a creative writer/author and her writing is amazing. I want to learn what she did and create books, worlds, and characters as flawless as all of hers. I'm going into my JR year this year. I usually get all A's and one or two B's in school, but this summer I'm going to study all my classes beforehand and practice for the SAT/ACT tests. Wish me luck!

Personally, a good essay topic is a combination of the prompts given. Something that shows your identity, your background, your interests, your struggles, your beliefs. And most importantly, *How it affected you, how you overcome your struggles, show that you've invested a good amount of time and energy on something that you're passionate about.*

hey! lowkey in same position and u just have to get super creative. honestly it’s good for you because the more creative you are the more likes AOs are gonna be like how did they do that(versus everyone knowing how you become prez of a club). look around for student run orgs or nonprofits outside of your school but still in your local area. reach out to profs and see if you can sit in on a class, use that relationship for a rec letter. published research, publish a book, apply for internship, etc. you got this!

My story is uniquely me and my own experiences can’t be replicated, which is why I decided to stray away from an academic-interests-oriented essay and focus more about who I am outside of school. Colleges already see your transcript and scores. Numbers can easily be ranked in comparison with other ppl, but your experiences are the only thing that set you apart from other strong applicants! Show them who you are outside of school; it’s much more valuable to schools to accept potential leaders and passionate people, not perfect robots! Of course, I’m not gonna lie: grades matter to a certain extent but once you’ve reached a certain “benchmark”, it’s all negligible, so don’t worry so much about the numbers!

Hello! my transition from 8th to 9th grade was taugh, I wasn't suppose be to in ESL class in 8th grade but the school put me in that class because there no seats in regular classes, so it didn't prepared me for high school sicne ESL classes were much easier than regular class, it did affetc my 9th grade grades, since there's a big difference in ESL classes and honor classes, I took honor classes in 9th grade. hey! this is just my opinion, but while you could tell colleges that, it doesn't show why you should be accepted to their college. if you're able to recover from this and get your grades to where you want them to be, that'll show them that you're up for a challenge and won't let little things like this hinder your overall performance. plus, i think they'd like to see improvement throughout your years so if you're able to do even better soph and junior year that'll help :) just what i think though

Shreya Prasad only choose a few ECs you are *passionate* about and go at them HARD. Don’t be minimally involved in a bunch of clubs. Be a very active member/officer in a handful. I only joined clubs that I was interested in. And I also didn’t join multiple clubs that served the same purpose (for instance, I didn’t join 4 volunteer-focused service clubs)

Hey Annika! I applied early through QuestBridge. If you feel like you are a competitive applicant, I would definitely recommend applying early. If you are a senior applying this year, it’s important to know that a lot of the incoming freshmen decided to take a gap year and deferred their enrollment until next year, meaning that now they are class of 2025. So now there are less available seats in the class of 2025. Best wishes to you!! ❤️

I think every college has its own way of calculating GPA and weighing AP classes, but my unweighted HOPE GPA (by Georgia state standards) was 3.956 and my hs gpa unweighted was 4.0. I’m not sure what exactly went into this calculation, but I just took it as given since it was on my transcript. Perhaps it counted my grades with the extra 10 pts up to a 4.0 or 100 as a limit. I wouldn’t say I cared that much about my GPA in HS so I was not concerned with figuring out exactly how things were calculated.

High school GPA was 4.0! I also stated my college GPA (the GPA colleges may calculate) was about 3.96. high school GPA accounts for the additional 10 points of AP classes. So even though raw my grade in AP Calc was an 80, the +10 points turned it into a 90, which is still an A :) In other words, HS GPA is weighted and in Georgia, the unweighted GPA is called the HOPE gpa.

That should be plenty! Don’t worry too much about the quantity of your ECs. Quality > quantity

Your not doomed but try to take AP Chem and do good in it to make up for not taking honers chem when given the opportunity

High school GPA was 4.0! I also stated my college GPA (the GPA colleges may calculate) was about 3.96. high school GPA accounts for the additional 10 points of AP classes. So even though raw my grade in AP Calc was an 80, the +10 points turned it into a 90, which is still an A :)
In other words, HS GPA is weighted and in Georgia, the unweighted GPA is called the HOPE gpa.
