I really really loved the fast refresh rate and got addicted to it in a short while. However real life happened after the honeymoon of the new phone was over a battery life was king so I switched back to 60. After a few weeks or months and I became used to the 60 again and don't think nothing of it anymore. If I'd sit indoors and scroll a lot all day with a charger right by my desk maybe that would change the picture for me. If you play games in 1440p you will have a better resolution sure but your battery will drain quicker than normal and your performance will decrease as 1440p requires more gpu hence the battery life decrease and lower performance. If you put 1080p while gaming your resolution quality will decrease but you will have better performance and far better battery life.
Using 1440p on Netflix is the same as the games but not to that extent. It will take longer to charge your device assuming you are watching a video at 1440p on either Netflix or youtube and charging at the same time. That's true it's advertised as NOT having variable refresh rate and even Samsung themselves do not admit that; but it has a variable refresh rate but in it's most basic form, 120 all the time and rarely 60
So all of the comments about not scrolling that much it doesn't matter, what's matter is the screen is on....

Maybe because s20 is full 1440p resolution where as iPhone is half way between 1080 and 1440. But I love the iPhone battery and its 1000mah less. IPhone 11 pro max is my first ever iPhone.
But I nornally use two phones and I haven't found the right Samsung to replace my s9+ yet because s10+ and s20 ultra both have battery issues. I'm hoping the s21/30 hopefully it's called s21 but I'm hoping that is a much better phone than the note and s20 ultra. It keeps the zoom feature or well makes it better since it's really only 4x optical zoom but make it really 10x optical zoom because at 100x zoom the quality is trash. Huawei did it better, theirs is really 5x and 50x compared to 4x and 100x on s20 ultra. That's why the quality on 50x for huawei is so is much better (5x multiplied by 10 is 50x) compared to Samsung alleged (10x multiplied by 10 is 100x)
But forget about the camera for a second, the exynos chip puts me off and that's all they sell here, either make one chip or make the exynos as good or even better than snapdragon because exynos is easier to get hold of for American users as snapdragon is for global. Battery life needs to improve, I've never cared for mah in battery until I see it perform like 6000mah on the rog phone 2.
Good battery good camera are my two big priorities in a phone. Speed, software, design hardware, screen and notch doesn't matter. Just as long as the camera is the top two in the world and so is the battery then I'm into it. But I will skip this years iPhone and think about the next year one but I could very well skip that too and wait for 2022 iPhone. As for Samsung, I have next year s21/30 on my list and if that isn't a lot better than s20 ultra or note 20 then I may yet again wait another year. My s9+ is slowing down, I've had it for two years, that's the problem with Samsung, iPhone out lasts Samsung in performance, battery and updates, that's why you see people with 5 year old iPhone whereas you'll never see people with a 5 year old Samsung.

Since when we could see a difference of 60hz to 120hz screen on a 60hz screen

Losing 2% more in TH-cam that is playing videos using exactly the same frame rate all the time, wow, that's what I call optimization 👌😅

really should be an adaptative refresh rate that only goes to 120 when it needs to.

What the video runs at and what the display render at are two different things. Movies are filmed at 23.97fps and you watch them at 60fps.

And then there's me with my Exynos S20 not being able to make it through a full day even with 120Hz turned off....curse you samsung...

I wonder if you compared it with the same display resolution. On my S20 i can only use 120Hz if i lower my resolution. Would be cool to compare WQHD/60 vs FHD/120, since these are the two options you can actually choose from.

It will be 20hrz when you read text and in video and game it will be 120 . It is smart on ur phone . But in some phone it is not smart .

Great video content.. i am really interested in what could be the difference in battery life between a 60Hz and a 120Hz.

i hope you know... he scrolled every 30 seconds only for a short moment... thats unrealistic. The difference is definately bigger, probably also only a slightly impact, but still.

  • @markmercado8446
    @markmercado8446 4 ปีที่แล้ว

120hz is adaptive, most apps doesn't even support that 120hz. also scrolling once every 30 seconds minimizes the gap in battery usage because that is what drains high refresh rate screens the fastest aside from gaming. saw another vid of this kind and there is a 2-3hrs of battery gap.

I'm looking for 2 kinds of tests.
    1. With one having GPS on, and the other GPS off.
    2. Where one device has Bluetooth on and the other has Bluetooth off.
The results would show if having Bluetooth or GPS on, without using them, has any huge impact on battery life.
Cause in newer systems, they aren't used unless they are needed

Great video, but you should've turned on the frame rate display in developer settings. It shows the current frame rate that the phone is using. Some of the applications only use 60fps and even youtube lowers the refresh rate to 30fps if you play 30fps video

      This.
Most phone lower the refresh rate when watching videos at full screen.
