I did something similar with the rear interior light. It is also very helpful to be able to turn it on and off from the dash. I see this video 3 weeks later, and I realy think you chose the realy hard way to do this. Personaly, I'd use that switch and pins to do the same thing as you did, connect two metal contacts together, but I'd just pull a wire from the boot door all the way to the switch on the dash. No need to fiddle around with all those connectors and removing and refitting and cutting up and stuff. It's way easier to pull a wire through the whole car than to unplug and put back connectors. Let alone cut wires. Sure your solution is much more "cooperative" with the system, mine is just "bypassing" it. 😂 In all honesty, everything I did on the car is bypassing the actual electric system. 😂😂😂😂
So smart idea 👍😊 I had the same emotion as you when i fix smthg on my car and now i will try to plug this button also, thnaks again for your videos and your kindliness 🙏
As a disabled driver the fact that you could ONLY open the tailgate remotely but had to go to the open boot and try to reach up to the switch to close the damn thing was/is my biggest bugbite!
@ I don’t know but you could tap the illumination signal (probably just 12V) on each remaining pin to see if the light go on. (Maybe a multimeter on continuity mode just to be sure that one of those pins isn’t another ground.) If plug on the wrong one (the other buttons) nothing happens because isn’t pressing it. Maybe using a 9v battery connecting to the buttons ground and just tapping it on the other pins to see who is the light on.
@@comcarclub Disconnect the switch from the cars electric system. You already know which pin is earth then connect 12v power to the different pins in the switch till it lights up. Then splice a wire from the lighting circuit to that pin. HTH
@@comcarclub I'd guess you just need to find a wire from another illuminated element. Use a Voltmeter to find a wire that has 12V only when lights are on. I've found suitable fuses to splice into for my Dashcam in this way.
Hi. Glad you done it. For lighting this trunk button you only need one wire connect to left side buttons (parking assistant + check). I you need i can check which pin.
@comcarclub No. It's +12v interior lighting wire. From left side buttons (check + parking space measurement buttons) wire number 5 will be. Or front cigar lighter wire number 1 will be.
The fact that it also closes is truly amazing. I know what I've got to do... Thanks a lot. By the way, do you have heated seats and are they broken? I'm looking for a cheap fix. My mechanic friend tells me working on the seats is a real pita. Lumbar adjustment is also broken...
No, no heated seats in my C5. I wouldn't mind getting them but that would mean new seats. Do you know if the rear seats can be heated or just the front ones? Thanks!
14:02 The shock, awe and happiness on your face is that thing we all get every time we solve a problem on these cars ❤
hmmm....."....something that actualy functions....." THAT is indeed very interesting my friend.....😊

The connector already have a ground, I believe based on guessing that you need only the illumination “power” to it work.
Thanks for answering. Any idea which wire it is?
