That CET one is a big one. It enables a command console, which means you can type in commands to give you any of the weapons, attachments, clothes, cars, skill points, attributes, health, etc that you want.
I highly recommend at least getting that one and, if possible, the “let there be flight” mod which makes it so vehicles can convert the wheels into jets and fly around.
For those of you late to this and dont want to use a keyboard just map one of the back buttons to a keyboard button in the controller settings in game mode. I set the back top left to the 9 key

I love my Steam Deck, but had to create a Windows partition because there were certain things that I couldn’t do with some of my games using Steam OS, like modding Cyberpunk 2077 for instance. This video just made the Steam Deck that much more essential and streamlined for my use. Thanks for the info and instruction. It’s all very much appreciated.
The thing is. Once you learn the extra step of starting Protontricks and select the specific game you are interested in. You will arrive in a Windows compatibility "sandbox". From that point you can use regex for registry hacks, you can use Windows Explorer to install new 3rd party programs, transfer files and start those 3rd party programs to mod your game just like in Windows. It's basically two extra steps compared to Windows. But I rather take that over dual booting, or even enduring Windows on low powered devices.
For anyone still not getting the keybind to pop up, I finally found that you need to select a GE Proton for compatibility. This currently works for me after this video with GE 7-50. Others have said GE 53 and GE 7-52 have worked for them.

couldnt get protontricks to work. im constantly looping. everytime i add a the version. the previous first windows keeps popping up EDIT: got it to work at the last window you have to install a window ddl or component. Install D3dcompiler 47 and the vcrun2022. Then the binding pop up will work

Whenever I try doing the Protontricks setup, I'm just stuck in an endless loop. It asks me "What would you like to do to this prefix?" - run winecfg - then the Wine Configuration window opens, I already added "Version" to the Override library list, but then it takes me back to Step 2, closing it takes me to step 1, and after closing that, it's as if I cancelled everything, CET doesn't work when I open CP2077, why is this happening??
Same, but i found that if the list now has "Version" included than you're good to close protontricks. Your next move is to try a different Version of PRoton GE to get it to work. You'll get it!

in case you get the script corrupted error message when starting the game use the start command in game properties: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm.dll,version=n,b" %command% this fixed it for me cause I was using redscript and red4ext
Don't know if this guide is outdated or what, but even after following the guide until the part I had to launch the game in desktop mode, it never came up with that prompt.

in protontricks after adding the "version" library you also have to "add windows dll or components" then add both "d3dcompiler_47" and the "vcrun_2022" and follow the installation (choosing yes at every window po-up)
Important to note that the USB thumb drive you use if you want to format it later on it will only format to 127 MB of storage no matter what size it is...had to go into my computer bios to fix this thumb stick issue. The Rufus App really fucks up your usb for later use.

This is actually frustrating. I got it to work once, deleted all my mods and now I. Can’t replicate the process. I just factory reset the deck incase I messed with the wrong files and gonna try it again
I am in the same situation. After enabling Version in protontricks and launching the game, the pop-up window with CET does not appear. Maybe is something releated to 1.62 version
Wasn't getting CET to prompt binding key (Cus it probably didn't run) Just don't make, or go delete the mentioned folder instructed to make in r6_cache named "modded" Once done, Re-do the protontricks thing, and this time on game boot, CET will trigger successfully. Idk what how or why so can't help regarding that. But my findings are : Redscript is to be avoided, and the mods that need that to run. I did exactly as you said, however it didn't work at all. Just loaded into a game slightly more laggy than usual... despite all the proton stuff it just fails on the deck

@@TheManFromWhereEastMeetsWest that sounds like conflicting files in some way then. Since we can’t use vortex on the steam deck the load order of mods is super particular. And it makes it even more difficult because if the game stops working you can’t just uninstall and reinstall it, you have to go into the local files and start removing stuff and then verify the files to repair them after from my experience.

I am trying to use a mod called TweakXL. I installed it by extracting it. Now when I try to run it I get an error saying "Encountered an error caused by corrupted or missing scripts file". Any idea on how to fix it?
If you haven’t figured it out yet, not all mods will work, especially the ones needed to install other mods. Right now I just have cyber engine tweaks cyber cmd and red script . They cover a lot of mods as is

I initially did as well, and it's about the SD card. Just remove protontricks and reinstall it, and then run the command line protontricks gives you when you boot it up again

A Keyboard is not required for this to work at all, Remember guys its 2023...All I did was Download a Keyboard app and use your smart phone as a keyboard paired via bluetooth and voila!.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not too sure honestly. I haven't run into this issue with either the steam deck gamepad or an external controller 🤔. I'll do some searching & If I find a solution I'll let ya know.
@@natto4now Yeah, I’m sure. Go into desktop mode, open Steam, left click on cyberpunk, click manage, and click browse game folder location - it will take you to the installation folder where you will be dropping mod folders/ files.
your tutorial was great but if im being honest proton tricks sucks. it only worked after hours of messing with it and then cyberpunk got an update and all the mods stopped working so now im back to where i started with the winecfg not opening the menu i really hope a better solution comes soon because this method is terrible and inconsistent.
i know i came here for the steam deck, but would it be possible to save a modded file on pc then load that save on steam deck? this is my first playthrough and i just want to be able to adjust my attribute points without throwing hours away. it'd be nice to keep my steam deck as "clean" as i can.
If you're talking about just transferimg a save file, I'm not sure how much luck you'll have, but it wouldn't hurt to try. If you're talking about modding on PC first, then transfering the whole thing over to the Steam deck, that should work, but if you need to use the CET mod, you'll still have to set up proton tricks

Had the same problem because cp was saved on the sd card i just put it on the internal ssd then it worked

i know i came here for the steam deck, but would it be possible to save a modded file on pc then load that save on steam deck? this is my first playthrough and i just want to be able to adjust my attribute points without throwing hours away. it'd be nice to keep my steam deck as "clean" as i can.
If you're talking about just transferimg a save file, I'm not sure how much luck you'll have, but it wouldn't hurt to try.
If you're talking about modding on PC first, then transfering the whole thing over to the Steam deck, that should work, but if you need to use the CET mod, you'll still have to set up proton tricks
