Guys I’m a lifelong proud Perth boy… I wasn’t inside the ground but working at a pub only 100 metres away from Optus… (we had multiple big screens accessible to everyone while working, we heard all the crowd noise, music etc.)
I have to say everything Damo said about Optus and the crowd was true. I think about 70% of all 61000 people in the crowd were neutral supporters who truly adopted a team and got merchandise for the team and really got into the spirit (an atmosphere like I have never seen before)
I think for the people in Perth who never have seen AFL before, because of the energy… there will now be a lot of Melbourne Demon converts. I’m an Eagles guy but watching that granny was one of the best times of my life. I am a traditionalist, so I think when we get on top of COVID… I think the MCG should ALWAYS be the permanent home for the grand final.
If this is the first and last one WA will ever have… the gratitude I have for being close to it is something I’ll never forget 👍. We love our footy in Perth ❤️

@J G you dont get it mate, Aussie rules is THE best spectator sport in the world. Soccer epitomises all the things wrong in our society in a sport. The corruption of the admin, the hooligans, and the lack of on filed scoring make it boring to watch.

    • @aidanthomas2510

I don't think it will, even though they'll never admit it I think eventually the AFL will want an interstate GF every year, even if it takes 30 years. COVID has just been the perfect thing to use to get the crowd used to it. As for the night GF, again the AFL will never admit this but they've wanted that for years and again COVID was the perfect thing to use to get fans used to it. That could be permenant as of now.

@J G Lol. If soccer is a better sport than football, don't you think we would have seen it overtake football in this country by now?
The migrants get their sons to play soccer, but the sons of migrants get their sons to play football. It's been happening like that for over a hundred years.
Hell, I used to play soccer myself & I can't watch it.

Heartbroken Dogs fan here. As upset as I am I'm glad it was another battler like Melbourne, made me remember how we felt in 16 and if it was going to be anyone we had to loose to I'm glad it was Melbourne and I'm happy for them. It's a credit to Paul Roos and Peter Jackson isn't it, the AFL and Melbourne fans have got a lot to thank them for.

As a Priority 1 member (GF guarantee) I enjoy watching the footy with a few drinks, sadly that particular spot where the cheersquad was, is "alcohol free" which frankly is ridiculous, would have been great to be in there, but was happy in block 112 either way.😀

TJ the Caleb Daniel fling was pivotal. 20 seconds later Viney was crashing packs and Harms was hitting Fritter. Absolutely no way the Dees did not get fired up by that disrespect, and especially because they are a fair play team. From that moment the scoreline was 7 points Bulldogs, 100 points Dees. Plus it meant Max had to rest and the Doggies thought they were home. Thanks Caleb.

in 2019 they won only 5 games lost 17

Since the exceptions of 2018, 2021… the last time the dees made the finals was in 2004 lol
Western Bulldogs have an amazing side… so if anyone thought the dees were gonna take the flag in 2021 after they finished second last 2 years ago… I would have thought they were smoking crack. The Bulldogs are more likely to have a Grand Final letdown than the Demons. The Demons have got an excellent opportunity to create their own dynasty, and they are not going anywhere in a hurry. The Bulldogs overachieved by reaching the Grand Final this year from 5th. Most teams in recent times that have gotten to the Grand Final from outside of the top 4 have struggled big time the following season. The Bulldogs of 2016 and the Giants of 2019 failed to make the finals the following season. Your prediction could be very accurate.

Can we stop pushing for a twilight or night grand final. The 2:30 grand final slot is great for people who can't get to the game, it's a great time to have a BBQ with mates and family and still make it home at a decent time.
Also, with the ground being empty around 5pm it's great for business in Melbourne to make a ton of money. You got to think that at least half of the crowd will head into the city after the game to pubs and restaurants with the ability to get home at a decent time.

Because a twilight Grand Final may not work for all of us foreign fans. The GF in Perth was a 2:15am start for us on the US West Coast, when it would have been a 9:30pm time for us on the US West Coast, if at the MCG.

The GABBA is 138m long and 158m wide giving an area of 21804 square metres. Stop believing the myth that the SCG is small. It’s not. It has been debunked numerous times. Decades ago it was a small ground, not anymore.

  • @rossteede399

Why is it that according this panel you are a better supporter if you live in Melbourne not Perth or anywhere else. Why was watching the GF on TV a hardship - the rest of Australia does it every year.
The only way it will truly be the AFL is when the finals are played all over Australia including and especially the Grand Final.

    • @darrenmiles-morland8038
      @darrenmiles-morland8038 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Absolutely. Hopefully this is the beginning of the Grand Final being held in every major AFL city on a rotational basis from one season to the next. In a national competition the Grand Final should NEVER be exclusively always played at the MCG. And twilight Grand Finals are the future. Saturday afternoon day Grand Finals are outdated.
