Swans thought playing "bruise free footy" would win them a flag😂😂
Lets play the exact opposite style of footy that won us a flag in 2012 and see if it will work the 4th time around 🤡

Lions defence was just immaculate. They just controlled that game 🔥🦁❤️
Brisbane just wanted it more. Over by halftime, Agreed swans looked timid throughout the game, it’s a Grand final you go hard, play hard tackle hard. There’s no time to be soft in a Final.
Exactamundo Truth 🎯
Judging by the balloons if you didn’t know better you’d think that west coast won yesterday

Heeney was still recovering from taking "Mark of the Year".
@@KevinCostner471 marked a penis right into this mouth LOLs
It's hard to fathom how those were the same men that won more games and scored more points than any other team this season. I've been a Swans fan for 28 years and I've come to the sad conclusion that, gifted coach though he is, Horse won't be able to get us over that line again. The 2012 side still had a large part of the nucleus and leadership of the team that Paul Roos built. Since that great day we've been smashed in 3 out of 4 GFs we've reached by 60 points or more. No fight, no grit, no ideas in the game that matters most of all. it's just devastating to watch.
Kane was calling Fagan “too soft” throughout the year and demanding he dropped players etc. Well, “Softie” didn’t do any of what Kane wanted, got them out of the bottom 8 this year, got them through those 2 prelims, and now won the flag from outside the top. 4. Coach of the year too. Kane also said Lions wouldn’t win a flag with certain players in their team 😂😂😂
fagan has taught the players well enough, that he knows that they're capable of pulling this off
It is common knowledge that Brisbane teams are always uderestimated by the south.

Why is no-one mentioning the awesome midfield tackling of Josh Dunkley. He is the one who is most responsible for shutting down the 3-headed midfield beast of Sydney that was supposed to do the job at this Grand Final. No denying Neale's inhumanly clean hands and ability to clear a ball out from inside, but Dunks shut it down every time Heeney, Gulden, Warner, Rowbottom, or Grundy got it in their mits. Warner, Papley, Heeney - 1 tackle each for the whole game!
The winner of the Brisbane Geelong prelim was always gonna smash Sydney
As a Cats supporter I feel so much better with that result yesterday. The MCG is not the SCG.
Yeh that's what everyone was saying before the game... NOT. All experts in hindsight.
@@garrywallah4966absolutely and if Brisbane had lost they’d be saying “Brisbane played their final last week against the cats…”

Gee that's a brave prediction 24hrs AFTER the game. Outstanding.
Glad they didn’t say Ashcroft was the youngest ever Norm Smith Medallist as others have said. Wayne Harmes was 19 when he won the first Norm Smith in 1979
That was during the VFL era. Theyve separated the two so "new" records can make headlines. Either way, kids a star and deserved it
As a swans supporter, I was more nervous than I have ever been before yesterday's game because I just knew we had a performance like that in us.
I am kind of kicking myself that I didn't have the foresight to bet on Brisbane to win by 40+.
Mate I had that exact feeling. Its the most talented list in my lifetime and I dont trust them 🤣
@@Mark-f7o Swans list mate* pretty obivous in the context.
60 points flatters Sydney..
Daniher kicked three behinds which could have been goals.
Also, Sydney came back in the last quarter and kicked a few goals late as Brisbane took the foot off.
So it could have been 90 to 100 points over wise.
Lions had the momentum in the last portion of the home away season, and come finals you win games with your back against the wall. Footy is won with momentum, belief and hunger and they had it. Good on them, as a neutral it was great to see them win. Great man management by Fagen, and his coaching team. Shut up Barrett….😅
I was at the SANFL Grand Final last week and both teams went for it from the first bounce to the final siren - nobody could blame lack of effort for a loss.
Sydney were weak, their effort was terrible. That's why they lost.

Three-pronged Swans tall forward line set-up is too big too slow. It may work on SCG but gets found out on MCG
And are not good players
Lions defenders were way too strong in the air. Would have been just as bad with smaller forwards.
Amarti is no good and very poor yesterday
It barely works at the scg, they're just no good
Hasn't Amartey and McDonald signed long term contracts?
The panel were saying what a loss Grundy was to Collingwood. Grundy got outplayed by a AFL journeyman Darcy Fort !
Swans just didn’t show up again. Sydney’s midfield was non existent. No pressure.

The Swans need to do what West Coast had the foresight to do and create a new ground that has the exact same dimensions of the MCG. If the Swans played every one of their last 4 GFs at the SCG they would be premiers. But the MCG is where premierships are won. They had no control of the game at any stage yesterday.

Not really sure copying anything West Coast has done is a smart move. All this fluff about the MCG is a red herring - Brisbane just played better on the day, plain and simple.
Is it possible to consider that Sydney play on a very small ground and have a significant advantage so their results during the year and finals is false? They have lost 4 straight grand finals after having strong years and finals at the SCG. Just a thought.
And Mick McGuane wrote an article in the HS saying the MCG would suit the Swans. It's the space that exposes their weakness.
@@gritfitstudios probably something in this. They looked lost at the G, just wandering around leaving Brissy guys with metres of space.
You do realise The SCG has had multiple renovations oer the past 20 years? Different dimensions, sure like any other football ground but Its not that much shorter in length than the G now.
Games have been played on the scg for 40 years. No issues. The ground is 5m shorter than the mcg and equivalent to a number of other grounds. The swans finish minor premiers and all of a sudden there's this magical advantage
They struggle on the MCG.
The entire Lions line up stood up as one and went boom 💥....bobs your uncle Swans.
hearing Damo talk is like listening to a cat dieing
I reckon the panel should have raised the post match pressers for both JL & CF. Whatever manager is responsible for the media facilities at the MCG should give up and find something else to do for a living. Whatever AFL manager is responsible for ensuring that post-match pressers are NOT embarrassingly amateurish should join the MCG manager in the CentreLink unemployment queue.

Umps didn't know who to favour, so wonderful Swans just copped a brilliant Lions on another good day.
You know your team well enough when you can see them getting beaten in the second quarter that you stop watching it to avoid the heartbreak

Fun fact: In the 42 years since re-location, Sydney are still one premiership behind what their old guise, South Melbourne, did.
Should've stayed in south Melbourne
@@christineabdelahad9435 👍 I reckon they’d have been more loyal. Sydney is fair-weather in their support; if the team has bad seasons (granted- not for a while), their crowds would be alot poorer.
Why wasn’t Parker playing in the middle, the meek young mids got shamed and their biggest offensive weapon was on a negating role in the fwd line. Dumb
Longmire doesnt have a message anymore, he should retire gracefully instead of getting sacked
Unless you go for Sydney or Geelong, you dont understand how blessed you are. What happens if you replace him with cox and then cox doesn't work? You got one of the best coaches in the history of the game, and you wanna sack him because his lost 2 out of the last 3 grand finals 😅 i know 14 other clubs who would be happy to even have made the top 4.
When you have something great but want more, you will end up with nothing, and then it's too late.
how many coaches could get them to 6 grandfinals, youre more likely to go back more steps than forward
People said the same thing about Scott at 2021. Step down. Ended up winning the flag 1 year later
2 out of the last 3? Try 4 out of the last 5.
@offtodamoon your talking over a 15-year period. Like I said before, be grateful you have a coach that has managed that and over such a long period. Sydney and Geelong have been lucky, and every fan sees it besides their own. No club stays up there that long or makes that many grand finals. It's rare it's why Scott's the only coach to have come close.
I dont care though. I hope he steps down so you fans in 5 years can understand what you actually had and how disgraceful towards a club and afl legend.
Blight didn't stay at Geelong after losing four Grand Finals and neither did Hafey at Collingwood. There is just too much baggage within the club, between the coach and administration, coach and players and between players.
There has to be some sort of circuit breaker in the form of the coach leaving particularly as Sydney is so mentally scarred it is unlikely to make finals next year.
And they don't learn from mistakes
Blight only lost 3
But however, that Malcolm Blight was the new coach of the Adelaide Crows Team & he took them to the (1997) AFL Grand Final in was their Very (1st First) Time & they are ending up winning it for their Very (1st First) Time against St Kilda and the final score/s were Adelaide Crows 19-11-125 - St Kilda Saints 13-16-94, of course.
There's been heaps of GFs with two non Victorian teams.
Legendary win! 🥰🥰🥰🦁
So much for the “bloods” nonsense. They’ve been favourites for their last 4 GFs and have been humiliated in all of them.
More like Bloody Soft!
Weren't favourites against Geelong in 2022. I know because I bet on Geelong.
Geelong were favorites in 22 and they got rolled by the umps in 16. Been poor the last couple no doubt though.
Swannywobbles
Upon reflection the “bloods” is really the Paul Roos era. They were in the wilderness and to win in 05 and compete hard in 06 was legendary as they were unfashionable. 2012 was the tail end of that era. The “bloods” culture is long gone. These guys are front runners and soft in an un-Sydney like way.
Agree. That culture crap is just that: crap!
Reckon the Lions could be set up for a dynasty now. Another Ashcroft coming in plus they have lots of great young players. Neale will still be around. Hard to see them being stopped next year.
This cats fan agrees with you, and to add to your point, injured players will be coming back too. I can definitely see them going back to back after yesterday.

No more Sydney in the GF. Completely ruined the occasion yet again. Makes the game look like a farce on the biggest stage of all.
Always been a snoozefest for the neutrals and a bloodbath for the opposition whenever they've been in a Grand Final since 2014. Worst interstate losing team in Grand Finals. 2 wins and 6 losses since relocating to Sydney 💀
What really disappointing from a Sydney perspective, they were minor premiers, they at a home Qualifying Final win against GWS, one week off, home Preliminary Final win against Port Adelaide. They had all the best cards in their hand. No travel at all. They wasted the perfect poker hand quite frankly. Brisbane on the other hand finished 5th on the H&A ladder, played the home Elimination Final at home and beat Carlton, then played a semi final and down by 44 points to GWS at Giants Stadium and beat them, then played Geelong in the Preliminary Final at the MCG and down by 25 points in the third term and still win. While Brisbane had to fight and compete hard and travel back and forwards, Sydney had the easy route and still didn't get the job done, and Brisbane did it the hard way. So Brisbane in the end will deserving premiership and I am happy they got one after a 21 years drought from the last, and they should be proud of this premiership on where they came from at the start of the season.

@@gdbssa Bingo: And I dare say in the AFL Era of finals. 1996, 2014, 2016 & 2024. Every time the Swans were minor premiers, the same thing has happened. The perfect and easy setup for the Grand Final and they waste it completely.

I don't think I've seen cleaner footy in a GF. They were a team possessed.
The first rule of coaching is don't get beaten by what you know. Sydney knew they were up against a gun on a mission - dual Brownlow medallist Neale. In Round 19 Taylor Adams beat him convincingly, but was not selected for the Grand Final. And Sydney chose not to play their closest checking player James Jordan on Neale. Sydney got beaten by what they know!
