When someone throws you the keys to a Maybach, what do you do? I was field director for my kids football teams and one of the grandparents of a player was the originator of a well known world wide toy company. My friend was the CEO at the time after taking over the business, and he had a couple of nice cars, but his dad is on another level. He owns over 30 cars (and 3 boats and a private jet) that he had shipped back and forth from his winter base in Florida. Amongst all his vehicles, (which included Rollers, Bentleys, Mercedes McLaren SLR etc.) his favorite car was his Maybach. Actually he owned two of them, one a short and one the longer wheelbase. He showed up at the field in his 57S one day and a few people were gathered around looking at it. He showed it off for a few minutes and then went to the sidelines to watch the game. My boss and his wife also had a son on the team and when the arrived we were in the parking lot talking about the car and I said 'hold on...I'll get the keys from Mr.B to show you the inside'. I walked over to him and asked if I could show his car to my boss. Mr. B says 'don't just show it to them....take them for a spin.'...and he throws me the keys to his $400000 car. I said 'you're shitting me'. He says, 'it's a car...it's meant to be driven...don't worry...I have two of them'😁 I came back to the Maybach and Greg got in the passenger seat and his wife got in the back. She made the best choice. I got on the highway and we drove to the next exit and turned around. We knew there were no cops between the exits so I put my foot down. We hit 135mph before I had to slow down for re-entry😉 I parked the car and brought the keys back and thanked him. He said of all his cars the Maybach was his absolute favorite to drive. I'm glad I got the chance to as well.
This Maybach seems to be in a little better shape than the one Hoovies purchased last week, although the Wizard seems happy about it! Sorry to hear about the loss of your Father
Hoovie knows what he's doing - his Maybach restoration will probably get hundreds of thousands or even a million views = $$$. Plus he's going to end up saving a vehicle that should be saved. Coincidentally I saw a Maybach in the flesh here in Singapore yesterday. In this country, (2.5x import duty + "Certificate of Entitlement") initial cost would have been north of $1M for such a car.

This car was something special back in the day. The engineering started in 1994 according to Wikipedia. It looks far too much like a W220 Mercedes-Benz S-Class which makes people think that it’s nothing more than a stretched Sonderklasse unfortunately. I remember checking out one of these Maybach 57S models on the used car lot at an Audi dealership about 3 1/2 years ago. It’s a really impressive personal limousine to see in person. The Maybach 62S is even more impressive with its extra length.
What a job you have if you can call it that when you get to do what you love it's a dream job. For a car enthusiast this has to be one of the finest cars you have ever shared Bill, I absolutely love it.
