I have the 2011 Maybach 57s with the 6.0 liter V12 powerplant including the 2016 EQUUS. Thanks to Kevin and this channel in helping me decide to purchase the EQUUS. The "regular" 57 had the 5.4 liter V12 powerplant. Another interesting fact: the majority of current buyers of new Maybachs are in India and China.
Another little known fact is that the 57 and 62 are based on the w140 S-Class chassis from the 90s. Elongated and modified. Hence the reason why the original Maybach is known internally at Mercedes-Benz as the w240 chassis.
@@RossEnzoThe only time I’ve seen a Maybach 62 was on Wall Street in Manhattan. It was really imposing, a two tone purple (maroon?) and dark gray. I couldn’t believe I saw it. I just remember this ultra long Maybach 62 pulling up beside me at a traffic light that seemed to stretch for miles.
these cars are everywhere in Dubai & Abu Dhabi. driving in Dubai is a delight. high end sports cars are the norm. my new ES350 is considered an inferior car on the streets of Dubai. I want that engine!
The Lexus ES 350 is considered an inferior car everywhere. It’s way overpriced for what it is. It is a great used car bargain. I can imagine being outclassed by everything in Dubai if you’re not driving something that costs at least 6 figures.
Loved your u tube presentation. My friend has a 2004 57s with 17000 miles. She bought it because it was cute and never really knew the details until we were drinking wine talking about cars and about the good old days. And boy did we have fun. Black flash green in the sun, caramel leather, garaged in South Carolina $75,000.
As a Proud owner of many luxury cars including a RR ghost, phantom , & Bentley flying spur. I own a 62 & 57s I love them! They are built so much better than any other luxury car. I will never sell them
These Russian oligarch mobsters, and guys like… Drake, are still riding around in these. They all have the new models too, but they still keep these old ones in the fleet.
The problem with the Maybach is that it was almost completely outdated and nearly irrelevant as soon as the W221 Sonderklasse came out in 2006. If Daimler had come out with the Maybach in 1998 or 1999 then they could have possibly redesigned it in 2006 and made it superior to the then new W221 Sonderklasse. Rich people aren’t stupid. They knew paying 3 - 4 times the price of a Sonderklasse was absurd. The Rolls-Royce Phantom of the time was bespoke and didn’t look at all like a BMW and cost around $325,000 vs. the $450,000 of the Maybach 62. And then there was the Bentley Arnage going for less than $300,000 and the then all new Bentley Continental Flying Spur which seemed like a bargain for less than $250,000. Daimler lost money on every single Maybach model that they sold due to high development costs and abysmal sales. It was actually based on the W140 Sonderklasse chassis even though it looked a lot like the W220 Sonderklasse since development began in 1994. The Maybach 57, 62, and Landaulet will always have a special place in my heart from an era when excess was always a great deal. The current Z223 Mercedes-Maybach Sonderklasse is very nice and stunning for what it is, but it will never match what Daimler made 20 years ago with these bespoke Maybach models. If I were a rich man I would have a Maybach 62 in one of my garages for sure.
Yea it’s already starting to happen I’m just trying to figure out, when things really do hit the fan, what do we do with all the Gold, we can’t eat it 😅
Because "Maybach" ist just a trim level now, not a car brand on its own. They didn't want to make the same mistake twice. Developing a new car from the scratch would have been insanely expensive.

Nice! You got one of the clean and newest Maybachs and an S on top of that great job 👍
Would you like to sell it?

These cars are insanely incredible.
I only saw one once in person it was in Atlanta on the Highway. It was a 62, was certainly something to behold
@@MeynMotorGroup Growing up you’d see them in Manhattan driving around. You always knew it was someone very important
Yea I bet especially when these were half a mil when new

Very nice collection. Which one do you prefer? 57 or 62?

Any info people could share about the reliability of the V12?
