I'm not in the market for a car, I haven't been for a long time, and I doubt I will be for many years to come. But this channel is just so darn fascinating!
Alex I wanted to say thank you for your detailed reviews and because of your reviews I bought my first foreign car 2015 Nissan Altima 3.5 SL which replaced my 2007 Chevy Malibu SS...My Chevy was a complete lemon and I had little to no issues with my Nissan. I am looking to replace my 2011 Equinox as it starting to give me problems...thank you for doing what you do!
Never considered a Nissan before, but these last couple of times, when I rode Uber, they were Nissans. One was a Altima. The other was the longer Rogue. What surprised me about both of them was how very smooth they rode. Does this Rogue Sport have that smooth ride. I also noticed that it's built in Japan, which is a plus. Your opinion is appreciated.
I'm looking into buying this car and this was an amazing and helpful review. I appreciate the specs and demonstration of the vehicle. I also loved the comparison at the end. Thank you :)
Drove two of these for two separate road trips. One is AWD, the other FWD. Got 28MPG in the AWD trim on 1600mile trip. But FWD we got 33MPG on a 1000 mile trip. FWD has adequate power unlike the AWD. You really needed to rev the AWD up to get going. FWD was a lot smoother. Both were rental cars. I really liked the size of these crossovers that are a class-size below the CRV, Rogue, and Rav4. Perfect for my family.
Just bought a 2018 CX-3. It's really on the smaller size (coming from a 2006 Grand Cherokee), but it drives much better than the Qashqai, looks cooler and it doesn't have Nissan's terrible cvt
I probably wouldn't mind getting one of these despite the low MPG if the engine was the same engine as the Juke. Nissan you have put the 1.6L from the Juke in this so call "Sport" model..another mistake if you want to capture the small SUV segment. If it's all pretty similar to HRV, CH-R etc...then people will go with them two well know brand because Nissan offer noting unique. Excellent review. Thank you
Actually we just got the Qashqai in Canada recently as well, it's just not called the Rogue Sport...don't know why were are using a different name up here.
I think it's alright. I like the regular Rogue because it's practically the same as the Sport but has a higher roof line. The higher roof line looks better to me.
Great Review, lots of detailed facts. I tend to like the Rouge Sport for its size & for its looks. I looked at the Mazda CX3 and frankly it is a lot smaller and the back seat is almost useless for adults, the space behind the rear seat is also a lot less than the Rouge Sport.
How come no-one ever mentions that this is almost all Renault... Renault owns Nissan and quit a few components are used from the group than originally dev. from Nissan... engine, mechanics...
The 9 speed ZF transmission has never actually been mass produced by ZF. It is actually manufactured in the USA and even exported for use by Honda UK in the CRV and Land Rover in the Evoque and Discovery Sport.
Nissans lose their value bad anyway couple that with a manual trans and you better keep iy till it dies because that combo it will be worth nothing in no time.
Rogue Sport is a wonderful car. It has been selling in Europe like crazy for the past 10 years. Alex, we want to see Stinger here ASAP! Go to the dealer at the Beginning of the December if you're interested in getting 500k views on your videos.
Tous Shong I️ think the decision was made to leave the 2.0 in it because the Juke is being updated (the Nissan Kicks from Brazil) and it gets the 1.6 turbo.
Bart Warner, it may be true but Nissan is already selling these SUV with the 1.6T engine over in the European as "Cashcow" so why stick the weak ass 2.0 engine from the Sentra in it, re-badge as "Sport" the try to price grouch us close to 30K? We just get a re-badge SUV from Europe with less HP while their model is already been refresh for 2018. Only different is Nissan put a nicer steering on the USA model. LOL
Tous Shong we never really know why automakers make weird decisions. Sometimes it because they can make certain engines in larger volumes than they can others. Sometimes it’s all $$$$$$. I️ think they should have put the turbo in the Sport and put the 2.0 in the new Juke. It would have made more sense.
I wish there were more substantial power train options in this class. HRV Should have the 1.5 turbo as an option at least. Would be nice if the Rogue Sport got the Jukes 1.6 or the NA unit from the bigger Rogue. Everything seems to float around 140-150 hp and similar torque.
In Europe Qashqai has 1.6 turbocharged engine that makes 160hp and goes like stink. I'm surprised they don't offer this engine in the US because usually US gets the most powerful engine options.
Stick your turbo. Pisses me off that goddamn young people like them. so more and more are out there. It is just something else to go wrong, and have shown to reduce the life of the engine because it puts more stress on the combustion chamber, they then start to burn oil and loose power. Wake up people.
I turbo is a dealbreaker for me and I would leave the lot if it had one just something else to go wrong that I do not need. Plus it stresses the engine and shortens it's life.
I've owned a Qashqai 2wd diesel 1.5 litre with manual transmission for the last three years. It has gone well with only an air-con failure during warranty, plus corrosion of the rear brake discs/rotors. Build quality isn't quite up to that of Honda's, but it isn't bad. One major drawback on the US model is that it only sells with the dreadfully unreliable Nissan/Jatco CVT automatic. It has been proven to be a disaster in Europe. Just perhaps they might have made it more reliable by now, but good luck with it.
There's no need to post the combined legroom for cars, because manufacturers don't measure them in the same way! For example, Infiniti claimed that Q50 has 79.6" of combined legroom, yet in reality, it's noticeably smaller than Acura TLX's (77.1"), and far smaller than the new Buick Regal Sportback's (79")!
Alex on Autos when you go to nissanusa.com the rogue sport that you see and you able to customize is 2017 , 2018 is still not available in USA , as is implied from the official Nissan USA website
The liftgate sucks on the Rogue Sport. If you're in the market for this one, especially if you're not particularly muscular, you will struggle closing it. They have no solution for it.
I'm not in the market for a car, I haven't been for a long time, and I doubt I will be for many years to come. But this channel is just so darn fascinating!
Pikminiman thought it was only me!

I absolutely love that measurement arrow thing you do! It is really helpful in gauging the real size of these vehicles!
The Rouge Sport is going to be my first car!
I'm looking into buying this car and this was an amazing and helpful review. I appreciate the specs and demonstration of the vehicle. I also loved the comparison at the end. Thank you :)

Nissan has a patented "zero gravity" seat that is super-comfortable on long drives. I rented a Nissan Rogue from Hertz and my butt was very happy.
I probably wouldn't mind getting one of these despite the low MPG if the engine was the same engine as the Juke. Hope you get to review the Crosstrek soon
I came here to ask about the Crosstrek as well!
Yes Please Crosstrek!
Actually we just got the Qashqai in Canada recently as well, it's just not called the Rogue Sport...don't know why were are using a different name up here.
Positron81 because it’s called Rogue Sport in the United States, and Alex is based in California.
I think it's alright. I like the regular Rogue because it's practically the same as the Sport but has a higher roof line. The higher roof line looks better to me.

Why was it compared to the Jeep Compass and not the Jeep Renegade? I thought the Jeep Compass was targeted to compact suv not sub compact.
Alex when you will be reviewing 2018 Crosstrek ? whenever you do Add Rogue Sport to vehicle length chart.
The 9 speed ZF transmission has never actually been mass produced by ZF. It is actually manufactured in the USA and even exported for use by Honda UK in the CRV and Land Rover in the Evoque and Discovery Sport.
You find them in Jeeps, and Fiat's as well.
In Canada this vehicle is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and is way more fun to drive than the CVT.
enr3870 Well, it is Canada. Not yet up to date with current thinking
Nissans lose their value bad anyway couple that with a manual trans and you better keep iy till it dies because that combo it will be worth nothing in no time.
Great Review. I like this vehicle and like the regular Rogue. However, Nissan needs to offer the turbo from the Sentra in this vehicle at least.
Is this a re-upload? I could swear you already did this review last week.
The previous video was a "First Drive Review." This is a "Review & Road Test DETAILED."
There were some issues with the video so it got taken down 30 minutes after it was released, we tweaked it, then put it back up today
I thought I was going crazy until I saw your comment

as soon as he said less powerful engine I almost couldn't watch anymore. Rogue is gutless as it is.
Yup! Wish Nissan stick the Juke egine in this one then it would have out sale the Rogue or other CUV in this segment.
Tous Shong I️ think the decision was made to leave the 2.0 in it because the Juke is being updated (the Nissan Kicks from Brazil) and it gets the 1.6 turbo.

Test drive the rogue sport less heavier than the rogue. you miss some options.
Why did you put cabin air filter as one of the features of the base model? I thought every car has one. Or did you ran of things the Rouge Sport have?
No, not every car has a cabin air filter...
I wish there were more substantial power train options in this class. HRV Should have the 1.5 turbo as an option at least. Would be nice if the Rogue Sport got the Jukes 1.6 or the NA unit from the bigger Rogue. Everything seems to float around 140-150 hp and similar torque.

Both engines offered on the Encore are turbo-charged...
But great review .... I love ur videos

Not available with a diesel or manual transmission in the USA.
Why Subaru Crosstrek not in list of it's competitor
Because the nissan doesn't belong on the same list as the Crosstrek. This nissan is a piece of junk.

is this a 2018 or a 2017 ?? videos from other part of the world that shows 2018 the antena had changed already
2018, there is no 2017 Rogue Sport in America
Alex on Autos when you go to nissanusa.com the rogue sport that you see and you able to customize is 2017 , 2018 is still not available in USA , as is implied from the official Nissan USA website
25 minute review for a Nissan Rogue... let me get my popcorn.
Alex, please do the Range Rover Velar test, thanks
The liftgate sucks on the Rogue Sport. If you're in the market for this one, especially if you're not particularly muscular, you will struggle closing it. They have no solution for it.
2018 Ford Edge sel please
And you are already a facelift behind. This car you are testing is 3-4 years old.
The steering wheel appears to be from the recently introduced facelift, but the front end is from the 'old' model, the same as my three year old one.
Nissan is so mainstream it hurts.
CVT?? Yea,...no thank you.
Nissan could have developed a six speed automatic transmission for this crossover, at least.
Fuel economy on Quasqai is bad. And reason is bad transmission.
Shame on Nissan
Looks like a toy car.. 9.5 seconds isn't very sporty. Good luck getting on the highway confidently
Yeah and with the CVT that is two strikes against it IMO
