I go to school in a VERY snowy place, after my ‘03 Grand Cherokee failed me me for the last time I searched for the cheapest awd crossover I could find. This checked all the boxes and 6 months later I have to say it did its job through the snow, for the money (on a lease) this car is great if you live in a snowy place. It isn’t the most powerful or stylish car but I fully endorse it for anyone looking for a great value.

Nissan salesman here, the door locking is a setting that can be adjusted to when the car is put into park, engine turned off or you can disable the function all together

Nissan will always use a CVT no matter how much you complain about it...yet these will still sell because in general consumers don't know or care that it has a CVT. So if you are an enthusiasts complaining about Nissan's CVT transmissions you are wasting your breath.

The reason CVT transmissions exist is because environmental regulation on gas mileage. The manufacturers have to come up with some way of improving mpg, and aside from making very tiny 700cc two piston engine, CVT is the only thing that they've come up with.

The comments on this video are incredible.
Wrong, misinformed, not accurate and just flat out useless.
Have any of you drove this car ?
Or just complaining about the cvt of ten years ago ?
TFL did a horrible job at this review.. they clearly did zero research on it and left a negative impression with potential buyers.
All of you seem to be forgetting this is a small city CUV, its NOT going to be fast, it's not going to corner like it's on rails, it's not meant to give you blazing fast shift times.
Theres a separation from facts and reality to ignorance and nonsense, specifically from people who probably didnt even see the car or even drive it.

Agreed, my 2018.5 SL is kinda gutless but with the CVT meant I had to change my driving habits. As long as I steadily apply the throttle it moves out just fine. Rear passenger legroom is lacking but I seldom (never) have rear passengers

Only the Rogue Sport is the Qashqai, all the other Rogues actually share the same chassis and many other components from the X-trail. They are the same size as the X-Trail. The Rogue Sport is noticeably smaller. Trust me, I'm an Englishman who has driven a Rogue in California last year.

I have Rogue Sport SL fwd I lease through work. This thing could really use another 60 hp for weight of the vehicle, the other is you can't use all the bass in the audio system. Could use some upgraded speakers really bad. And I think they should call it Qashqai. Back seats are to upright they need to recline like the Rogue.

In other markets this is the Qashqai. In the U.K. it is among the top 2 or 3 best selling SUVs. And darn it, it is available nearly everywhere else with a manual transmission and a diesel engine.
The "regular" Rogue is not sold anywhere but in North America, I believe, tho I could be wrong.
      Rogue? Built in North America?
Rogue Sport? Built in Japan (though other markets get U.K. built Qashqui).

I bought one of these because it fit my needs, especially the mileage. I've gotten over 33mpg highway but typically get about 27.9 according to the onboard computer. Anyway, the first thing I did was come to your channel to see you take it up Gold Mine Hill, to see how it could do vs. other small crossovers. It might not have done well but I definitely feel cheated that you didn't try.

Some of the information in this video is not really accurate or in depth.
    I have a 2018 qashqai (same thing).
If you go into the menu there is a very simple menu to follow to get your car to unlock the doors when you shift to park.
The default setting is ignition off which I'm sure was set during this video.
I set mine to open door locks when shifted to park and it's perfect that way.
The 2.0 and ctv is sluggish, but it's a city car in my option, not a sports car.
I've done 37 mpg highway on a 450km road trip, nothing to complain about.
I strongly agree it looks much much better then the rogue.
My SL AWD with leather and the 19 inch wheels and all the tech was 32 grand.
For what I got and how it works, yes it's alot of money for a compact SUV, but I'm not angry at the price for what I got.
My only complain so far and I'm about 5000 miles in to owning it, is it has some road noise, specifically coming from the rear of the vehicle.
It's very noticeable at highway speeds.
I LOVE the flat bottom wheel, adds a little character and is very comfortable in the hands.
No android auto is very very annoying, but "rumors" say there will be an update to the infotainment system coming late this year to incorporate it.
Would I recommend this car ? Absolutely.
Compared to its rivals and after test driving them all it was an easy choice to me.

    • @cliby25
      @cliby25 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

and this is very honest. coming from an actual owner. others complain and don't even own a bicycle.

    • @sferg3291
      @sferg3291 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

cliby25 I could have added another 3 pages.. but i got the simple points across.. my problem with this is how TFL didnt do simple research on how the door locks work.. they are supposed to be giving honest reviews but yet they dont know how to operate a menu to select the door lock feature. Its stuff like this that could turn people off from buying a car.
Again, I'm happy with mine. Zero regrets.. and if you just play around with the infotainment and menu settings in the cluster people would be amazed on what can be changed and how you can customize the vehicle settings for yourself.
Even something as simple as changing the steering feel to sport. I find it much more driver friendly then the comfort setting.
Shame on TFL for this horrible review and shame on the people for lashing out on a car they have probably never seen or drove.

It took me a moment to realize that here in Canada, the Rogue Sport is known as the Qashqai ( pronounce this as cash kai )
Not a bad little Rogue,...but I think Nissan needs to do something else with the CVT if they ever want to impress folks. It does get decent fuel mileage, but can't tow worth a damn. ( actually, neither can it's bigger brother the Rogue, and that's a real pity , in my humble opinion at least!)

The cvt is nothing like it was years ago.
It's more refined and very comfortable.
It's a city car ! It's not meant to give you blasting shifts like a Porsche PDK, You people have to be realistic.
It's a small city car designed for comfort and easy drivability.
Sometimes I flip mine over to the "manual mode" for a bit of fun.. it's no duel clutch but it's fun.. key word is fun..
It's like you want this car to be a GTR in a tiny CUV body.

Towing with the CVT on anything except the Titan will void the warranty as I was told when I bought my 2018.5 Rogue Sport SL. I learned that although it's kind of gutless on the acceleration if you romp on the pedal, it moves out better if you gradually apply throttle instead.

I do have three things that I will complain about. Two of which you didn't cover. I completely agree with you that the door unlock thing is a pain in the ass. It constantly gets in the way and they need to change it. The other thing is the manual liftgate. Seriously? You can't give me a power button? Last but not least, no heated mirrors. How 1988 of you. And that door lock actuator is how people get trapped inside their vehicles with a dead battery ..... where does the owner’s manual say the “bypass release” is at .... under the driver’s door sill, under the dash ... it’s odd that laws mandate the trunk should have a universally recognized system to escape from a locked trunk & even the Ram Cargo Boxes..... but manufacturers disguise emergency door lock releases so they don’t interfere with interior esthetics

What a picky video. I own the sport sl and it’s amazing. It handles amazing and rides so nice. Yes it’s slow but who buys a crossover for speed? And yes the trans is kinda poop but it’s a great car. It’s silly they complain about the parking break and the door locks like it’s so strange. I don’t want that big ole hand break up in my space keep it down there. And please lock my doors when I start driving.

I forget where I heard where a car company should just build a car that everyone would buy. Kind of like Henry Ford built the Model T. I believe it was Toyota that wants to get into the niche of being that kind. I do like the full-size wrong with the stadium seating in the back that you can see over the driver and passenger. I thought the ride was very pleasant in the full size I have yet to be in that vehicle that you're in. All in all for the price I don't think it's too bad. PS where is Roman?

Beware of the Rogue's automatic braking system! My daughter's 2018 model is activating the brakes for no reason! Dealer cannot replicate the problem but it's now becoming a complaint by other owners. You can bypass the automatic braking system via the dash controls, but, you must do this each & every time the vehicle is turned off & started again. Can the actual radar sensor be disconnected to keep the automatic braking turned off without having to key this info in each time the car is started?

Yet another reviewer who does not know how to drive a CVT equipped car. When you smack it instantly to the floor, you actually slow your acceleration. You must not to aggressively but quicker than if you are just pulling away from a traffic light under normal circumstances. It is hard for me to explain what I mean. Just push the pedal progressevly to the floor, not instantly to the floor like these guys. Wish I could explain it to them to their faces.

The Xtrail you are referring too looks better than most the other nonsense available, esp GM rubbish. But you have to at least spec it with 19inch wheels, tints and roof racks or they look mundane. Mine in black looks great on 19inch charcoal DTM rims with aggressive rubber. And unlike the rest it actually can go off road. That's a big seller.
