    I love your reviews, but it seemed like you went into this with a negative bias towards small SUVs. I've driven this, and I actually thought it was pretty good for the price point. You can't expect $40,000 equipment on a low-mid $20k car.

    • @StaceyABarr
      @StaceyABarr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I watched because I have a friend who just bought a 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport so I wanted to get an idea of what it was like. It’s very similar to the Jeep renegade I used to own. I think he did come into this review a little negative but it is a review & he’s just being honest. I do agree that you cannot expect $40,000 on a small car that’s meant to be low in cost & more affordable.

    I only came to the comments to see how many performance car enthusiasts somehow thought this car was marketed to them.. lol. If you care about performance and driving feel, you won’t like a cvt.. but at the same time, the people who buy these vehicles, with CVTs, don’t care about those things. They care about good gas mileage, smooth acceleration, and predictable acceleration; everything a CVT does

    • @97I30T
      @97I30T 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Connecticut Dashcam It’s funny you say predictable acceleration because every single Nissan I’ve driven with a CVT doesn’t accelerate smoothly or predictably.

    • @ConnecticutDashcam
      @ConnecticutDashcam 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      KentB27 interesting you say that because I would say the exact opposite. You hit the gas and you get no shift shock, or downshift shock, it’s just smooth. If you want more power you push a little more.. no jerking around or any nonsense

    • @ZenTheMusician

      Believe me. I've owned a crappy CVT. This one performs above the mark. I'll buy another one when this one wears out.

    • @TraceLight

      Connecticut Dashcam shit acceleration, average gas mileage (no shit Sherlock, it’s paired to a severely underpowered in-line 4 cylinder that needs an update badly), and sounds like hot garbage.
      How do I know this? I owned one. A nice SL AWD from 2016, it was rubbish. Never again.

    I'm shocked by this review and the comments. As a small person, I need a small car which allows me to sit higher than the average sedan or hatchback to see around corners. I don't want a monster "Compact" SUV. Think about someone else's point of view for a change, please.

    I think as a reviewer you let your personal bias come into the review. I dont need to hear how you dont like small crossovers. I need to know how the vehicle is based on its merits as compared to like kind vehicles. You obviously have never had to park in areas where parking is so compact that you barely have any room to move your vehicle. People in those areas still need utility but at a smaller size. Imagine trying to drive and park an Traverse or even a Highlander in Key West. Sometimes a subcompact is the only option in certain areas where a CRV is still too big.

    So, this is more of a general comment, but I really appreciate how Sofyan shows the car's interior and the road that he's driving on as if the viewer is driving, and not having the camera pointed at his face the ENTIRE TIME during the driving portion like some other TH-camrs (and you know who I'm talking about).

    I bought one because I thought it looked sportier than the std Rogue. With the seats down, I can fit my whole bike. Plus, it being 4" lower makes it easier for roof access in the summer for water sports! Test drove a Mitsubishi OL Sport and it was way worse, only good thing was that it had 160hp.

    Nissan needs to get it's shit together. Almost all of the cars in their lineup, excluding the 370Z and R35, has not, or will not age well. The R35 has aged well, but it's fallen flat compared to it's competition. Not much change was done to the R35, and it's starting to need a redesign. The 370Z was long due for a redesign, but unlike every other car in it's lineup, it's probably the best option to go with.

    We didn't buy our 18 SL for the price, we bought it because it is freaking loaded and sporty as hell. A co-worker bought a CRV and as far as looks, style and comfort there is no comparison. I would have expected to pay much more for this vehicle. It has GREAT pickup when you step on the pedal, unlike the Jeep Compass I bought a couple of years ago. I don't have anything bad to say about this vehicle after owning it for 7 months. Your review doesn't show the best that Nissan has to offer in this model. To show that I'm not totally biased, I do have one let down. The blue tooth is far more complicated than it needs to be. Even with Suri for Apple. Other than that it's an amazing value for the money.

    A lot of stupid comments from “experts” . I and a female friend test drove this car and the Rogue. This car felt more nimble more sportive more pleasing to drive. She finally chose this one over the Rogue and bought a SL loaded very nice. She didn’t care that the Rogue is bigger or more powerful because she drives mostly alone and this car is cheaper. She didn’t even notice or know anything about the CVT. Now you know what kind of people buy this car, ordinary people. Not many people want big, fast cars then pay a fat monthly bill.

      Jonathan Washington "Sporty"? None of them are or were sporty. Both lack power, use aids CVT (unless you find that rare 6-speed manual model in the lot) and none of them were initially made for "sport" modes as you don't really race or speed with them like you would do with a Golf or a BRZ. You simply deliver your skinny family from point A to point B under minimal room conditions. That's why Sofyan and many others don't like CUVs. Plus, the Juke was the ugliest CUV ever made. Rather get an Accent hatch and still look nicer on the road.

    Great review! I'm flummoxed trying to figure out why these vehicles are so underpowered. Is it all for the sake of fuel efficiency? I'm not concerned with overall hp as I am with torque and the ability to get the vehicle on the freeway or having to pass someone going much slower than you. They look nice and all, but what good are looks when you can sprint faster on foot than some of these vehicles can accelerate??

    I bought the 2019 SV model for my wife in Canada last month. Nissan finally add Apple car play and bring the most of the important safety features to the SV trim. Exactly like the reviewer said about the power train performance, but that's not our biggest concern to choose this auto. We need a SUV to have a higher view and more ground clearance, but small SUV are so small make the whole segment way lake of comfortable both driver and passenger, i think SUV should't means Small useless vehicle. Compact segment are little bit too big in my wife's sight. Also, the trims with safety features are little bit expensive. Then the Qashqai (ROGUE SPORTS) comes to be the perfect size for us, and with 26k CAD we have all we need. we trade in our old cruze 2012 and the leasing price for 60 months cost us 310$per month. As another reviewer said, "its a perfect second car for a family"

    • @fanli279
      @fanli279 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paolo9425 for the space, its much more better than all the small suv segment, front and back. Front Chairs are very comfortable, feels quite when you drive it. nissan made this North America version more sporty, the engine are more responsive(even its not powerful,thats why the fuel efficiency are worse than regular rogue ) and suspension give back more road feeling .It give a perfect feeling driving in the city, good view, with a not too big size, engine are better than the small turbo one for me. Infotainment system are totally garbage, feels like you're using an old Nokia smart phone with Symbian system. But we got apple carplay on 2019 model (so whatever) cargo space are ok for regular use. things they didn't say is that the speakers are really good, even its not Bose. The safety features are really good and useful, back camera are clean and clear most of the time(my CRV have to wipe ass everytime). Most important thing is the price. it seems Canada market are little bit cheaper than US.

    My 2005 Altima is rated 23/29 (which is exactly what I get) and it has 175hp with a 4speed automatic. The CVT is supposed to get better mpg, but only gets 2 better (comparing to FWD Rogue Sport) and has less power. I don’t know too much about cars, but that just bamboozles me. Also, I have no idea how the Rogue is the best selling SUV when it has such a dated interior, an exterior that doesn’t impress me like competitors, and a CVT that people complain about all the time. I haven’t driven any new Nissan vehicles myself, but at this rate I don’t think I’ll ever be getting another.

    I am buying a used one, I got mine yesterday. One of my complaints is that the steering wheel feels like it’s made of plastic and can be a bit slippery. It needs a steering wheel cover to give some grip. I’m not crazy about the flat part of the steering wheel, wonder if the make a steering wheel cover with the flat part. And yes it’s a bit noisy and is a bit slow on the takeoff. Other than that I haven’t had the chance to discover anything else I might be disappointed with, but over all, I really like it. Mine didn’t come with the gps system, I’m going to have to add it in later, until then, I’ll just use my phone. I’m not sure I have remote start, my key fob only has 3 buttons, a lock, an unlock, and an emergency button. I don’t think it came with remote start. I hope it does though. That comes in handy on hot or cold days when you want to either heat or cool your car before you get in.

    The 2018 rogue sport is designed to be a first car for a younger person. It’s something that a parent would buy for their child’s first car, something that’s dependable. It’s supposed to be something they don’t have to worry about. No it’s not the best but if you’re going to get something for a first time car owner, it’s perfect for that.

    Using it as a rental for an out of state trip,For what it is--it is very good.The car can easily do 80 mph while getting above 30 mpg--which I was interested in.The seating position and ride height is very very good--you sit up pretty high and it has good room for the front passengers.It is also very very easy to drive.if you are going on a small vacation--like a weekender or a few days and you need a comfortable--easy to drive fuel efficient vehicle--this does it.BTW honda and KIA do not make a lot of basic models and their price climbs into the high 20 low 30k range--especially with AWD models.My DD is a KIA stinger GT with a twin turbo 6--so anything short of a sports car feels slow.I am using this because I will be going into light mountains and it sits up high and can handle light gravel roads with ease.My stinger is brand new and too low for mountain driving.BTW rentals on this are between 25 and 40 dollars a day which is very cheap for what you get.Only downfall is the performance--but to tell you the truth--I welcome it since it will not encourage very high speeding like my stinger does.If you are going on very long trips--or maybe thru someplace like texas where you can go 80 mph plus--spring for a better vehicle--but you will pay at the pump and at the rental place to upgrade.Also if you have a new driver--an AWD version of this as a base model is a great starter car.The AWD will be welcome to anyone when the weather gets bad--I also got AWD on my stinger and it is a fantastic option.I am also renting an AWD model of this and it was no charge.All CVTs in this segment need planning on the HWY--it is the tradeoff for fuel efficiency--which can get into the mid 30s if you stay near the speed limit.

      Hey guys let’s get one fact straight. Nissan is getting a little long in the tooth ,we all must admit it’s very stale and behind the times in styling all except it’s flagship the maxima. That’s what I meant by it’s going to be like Mitsubishi. When you let your models go a long while without a refresh they will become stale and loose it’s customer sales. And Honda and Toyota have always kicked Nissan and Volkswagen ASSES in sales ,quality and resale value ok #Thatsafactjack

    I don't get why so many cars don't have the one touch electric windows as a standard option. I mean, if a basic ass 04' Corolla has one touch windows (front and rear) why can't these cars have them too? Or is this just a US thing?

    Why is it "good" that the CVT tries to mimic shifting? It seems ridiculous to me. I get that some people might not be accustomed to the way a CVT works, but trying to mimic shift points is as silly to me as sending V12 exhaust sounds through the car's speaker system to make it sound more "sporty".

    Come on man, i like your channel and your content, and i don´t even like this car, but do yourself and your audience a favor, next time just don´t review a car that you know you hate even before you test it, i get that YOU think a bigger car is better and make more sense, that´s fine and i happen to agree with you on that, having said that you should review a car without this bias, the review became a rant on how the industry have no idea of what they are doing, and let me tell you something they do have a pretty good idea and they are generally right, you say a normal rogue fits more people, but it really doesn't, its 5 people for both (OK the rogue have the 7 passenger version but if you need that just get a freaking van it makes more sense) you say it lacks power, but anywhere in the world 140 hp is perfectly adequate for a car this size and the speed limits are really really close anywhere nowadays, the car is not amazing but its cheaper and if it's you your wife and 1 child what difference does it make a Rogue sport a regular Rogue or a freaking Escalade, let me tell you, it makes NO DIFFERENCE, of course the bigger the nicer the more expensive, the better will be the feeling of ownership, but it´s completely not necessary.
    I think you should just say no to cars you dislike from the get go, that will make your channel much more honest, if a car is bad don't pull your punches for sure, show the flaws and criticize as much as you want, but to start saying you dislike the hole sector makes your review pointless.

    I know that my Mazda 3 hatchback 6MT is a completely different class of vehicle than this but honestly, it gets me nearly 15 mpg better than this car, and because it's a hatchback, still plenty of cargo storage, all while costing less to purchase and run than this AND it's fun to drive on top of all that.

    • @97I30T

      That's what meant. My brain is unplugged today. I understand the feeling. Felt that way on my first car. Got tired of sitting too low but after sitting in so many SUVs, I got too tired of sitting too high. The driving experience felt slow and top heavy. Realizing sitting too low isn't too bad. Compact and midsize sedans/hatchbacks will always be my choice just because of lower center of gravity and looks.
