Those who thinks that this is a performance model just because its turbo charged, you better think again. Its at the end of the day, an economy oriented model and the turbo unit is most probably a soft turbo unit.

I'm waiting to see how the 100hp turbo engine + Xtronic CVT combo will work in the hands of YS. Not surprised that to hear the hpower rating of the new engine, since the soon-to-be-phased-out current Almera is 102hp.
Based on video...The good... Space space space, lower unsprung weight... Maybe Looks clean n neat... Instrument display, n nice stearing wheel... easy to work on layout at engine bay... Nice front brakes... The bad... Speculatively... Tires might be heavy or too big/wide for the power...so maybe a tune where 1st half of throttle to keep things economical and modded 140+-ps for the second half? Body not stiff enough to truely enjoy being driven hard... If you notice the bad of all calculated speculation ... One thing I noticed n liked... All Nissan from engines have a kind of strong grunt/ pulling power in terms of feel... Doesn't always translate to speed... But it's a good feeling...

Much better looking than the current one but still not particularly good looking(subjective i know). 1.0 turbo also has lesser output than Honda City's 1.0 turbo(100PS vs 122ps), apparently also sounds harsher. If it was in the same price range as the current outgoing Almera, then it's quite the car, but at 80-90k, I think it's going to have a tough uphill batlle with Vios and City.
Wah, you have received reports so quickly? I only just tested it for the first time today. CVT technology practically re-invents itself year on year, and this latest reiteration had 'step' built in to simulate the sensation of an automatic. I found it rather interesting. Anyway, I would advise you to verify your source - almost everybody knows somebody who is a close friend of a neighbour of an uncle twice removed who heard something.

Very practical, fuel efficient family car. These are getting rarer as sedan producers keep targeting the youth and make them ever so sportier and less practical.
Front lights like mehh.. Rear light is beautiful. I say it looks better than the crab pincer inspired Civic and Accord rear lights. Though from your video, I can see few flaws of the car already: 1. Stingy Tan Chong Motor today still wanna give those battery that need to put water 1:38 . Come on la.. It is almost end of year 2020 already still wanna save that few penny. Maintenance free ones are not that much more expensive only. Eih.. the car is RM90k++ leh.. 2. When you show around the front wheel area and the struts, there is a serious lack of sound proof material on the wheel well 5:47. Means tyre roar is gonna be loud. First time I see affordable car with good sound proof at the wheel well is the Proton Iriz, there is lots of bitumen sprayed onto the wheel well area to dampen road noise from tire friction. 3. If it is priced at 90+k, then this is not a low end car already in Malaysia. Low end is Axia and Saga kind of car. Honda City is around this kind of price, but rear aircond vents are there. Yes it is a B-segment vehicle too . Fair and square comparison. So there is no excuse for the omission. 11:02 4. I see the "Turbo" label at the back. So first impression will be, it should be a fun car. When you enter the car , look at the gear shifter and the steering wheel , like... no manual overrides ? Paddle shifters ? Not even + - at the gear shifter. 12:57 And you already said in the beginning, this has a CVT gearbox. Someone at Nissan clearly overlook this matter. 5. This is front wheel drive car. Why cant they make the floor flat at the rear legroom area. There is no need for a hump to accommodate a long shaft for RWD / AWD cars.10:17 I can see few things that I like too such as: 1. The front brake rotor vents are quite bigger than usual B segment sedan. 2. 205/55/R16 tire is a very common size. There are lots of performance tire options to improve on the grip. Michelin PS4 is available at that size which is good. 3. I agree with uncle, this type of old school parking brake rocks. It needs minimal maintenance and unlike those electronic ones, these don't have actuators which cost a fortune to replace when it breaks. 4. Soft touch dashboard ? I thought only Mazda has them, but they are priced almost like Lexus these days.
Thanks for your comments - So far in my career, I have yet to see a perfect car, and definitely not one single car that can please everybody. I suppose that at one point or another, the designers had to make decisions one way or another, and the result is what you see.
Car did improve a lot, but the price is going skyroket. Finally, Nissan willing to incude a CVT cooler on their cars. They should recall all their previous Nissan cars with CTV transmission and provide a free add-on for the CVT cooler. Hope Nissan dont screw up this time, due to their pass history CVT transmission high failure rate, and provide cheap parts thats doesnt last long. Thier reputation had drop into shit hole now, this is their last chance to redeem themself.
Each car maker has its own marketing objectives and direction, so interpretations of the same market segment may be different. I am sure Honda also had their reasons for opting for the 1.5 litre engine and not the 1.0 turbo, and similarly, Tan Chong had their own reasons for selecting the turbo. Whichever one is going to be more successful in winning the buyers is yet to be seen, bearing in mind of course that engine power is not everything.

I will prefer to wait for Proton X50. It's too expensive for a 1.0L car compared to the X50 with a 1.5L.
