- Many of our viewers are very curious to know what fuel consumption is possible with the Nissan Almera 1.0 Turbo, so we have laid out a special test run not only for you, but to check it out ourselves. In addition, we also took it out on a drive through city roads just to show you some real world conditions.
The route we used started from Bandar Utama, and we joined the LDP to get to Federal highway, after which we took the Federal highway to Bangsar and cut through to Jalan Damansara via Jalan Ma'arof.
The trip was in the afternoon traffic conditions, and traffic was normal to light. Anyway, please be reminded that we are a TH-cam Channel, and not an accredited testing body, and whatever results we achieved are based on the instrumentation that is available in the car.
In other words, what you see is what you get.
Small capacity engine with turbo seems to be the way to go. I will definitely be looking at one next time instead of n/a. The torque for everyday driving plus the fuel efficiency is exceptional.
This audio is clearer than my future.
fantastic camera view coverage, road, speedo and driver. this kind of fc reaching hybrid level 😮
Real world testing. Nicely done uncle Khong.
Because the engine is so effortless in keeping up with traffic and it having a very efficient drivetrain, the Almera seems to easily hit fuel economy figures that are once thought only exclusive to diesels or hybrids. While the Axia or Bezza has 1.0Ls as well, because they are underpowered and have a draggy gearbox you'd struggle to hit the figures mentioned as youd be pushing the engine hard just to keep up.
After this review am seriously considering the Almera. It seems like a perfect all rounder vehicle
Another deciding factor is that is an MPi unit rather than Di, which is known to be superior in terms of long term reliability.
What is MPi and Di?
@@RamachandranMurugayah
Mpi = Multi Point Fuel Injection. Injector is in the intake. Fuel can touch intake valves which reduces carbon buildup in future.
Di = Direct Injection. Injector sprays fuel directly into cylinder. Better for performance and emmision standards, worse off for real life reliability and performance consistency. Carbon can build up kaokao in the intake valves. Reducing overall efficiency

Great for almera to hit top fuel economy of 23km/l on city drive. It sure break record for all b segment cars and give A segment car a good fight.
My VW Jetta 1.4 turbo only achieve less than half of that on city drive and 16 km/l on highway. Well done.
Best B Segment Japanese Sedan in 2021
best is altima。
@@junyuanwong6467 altima not b segment bro
@@jombuycar2666 ya。altima better almera.but i like new nissan sentra GTR engine so nice.
personally i think this new almera looks better than new city and maybe better engine too?
i feel the same way.. I saw this car in showroom. Even inside i felt slightly superior in design. With uncle review here on fuel consumption for A to B..this is better. Even surpass AXIA for those who wants low fuel consumption.
Exactly, me too, Almera comes with Automonous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Forward Collison Warning (FCW) for all variants together also comes with turbocharger engine 1.0cc. Even, Nissan Almera design looks better than Honda City for inside and outside. Plus, Almera cabin based on NVH are also more quieter than Honda City. Especially, reliability for Nissan is also better than Honda as Xtronic CVT gearbox is more smoother compare to Earth Dream CVT gearbox
Nobody will kacau you
I like that 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Sir I’m following you since from the review on Genting X70
I like your review
May god bless you sir
The Lazada 11.11 billboards proves that this was shot before 11.11 👍👍👍
Greetings from Thailand🥰 , By the way we have the 1.0t back in 2020 it’s a very good car ,it’s has all the bell and whistle but I still choose the Mazda 2 over it after the minorchange
Thanks for the review and comments. Just ordered one. Hopefully I don't regret it. I was eyeing the Vios and City and both centres are near me in Subang.
The Almera current model is a great car.
@@YSKhongDriving Thank you sir. I'm a new fan. Subscribed jor.
Amazing fuel economy wow. these b segment cars are great
Is it the same or better FC than axia?. Can't imagine a full sized sedan with FC of a compact car..certainly worth the price for a long term
Your sunglasses could be the reason visibility of the meter reading is not clear sir. Ha..ha.. Anyways, another great video and this one is more relevant to prospective car buyers though. I've got to say that this car's NVH is pretty impressive too. Take care and stay safe sir!
Actually the glare from outside light will cause glare so the camera cannot pick up the image - nothing to do with my eyesight, LOL.

Fun facts: Nissan now is 50% own by Renault. You do the maths💯🧐
New Almera😍😍👍👍👍
uncle khong: actually i am quite suprised people are driving that slow
me: literally burst out of laughter xD
I love the drive about, I've not been around PJ area in 20 years 🙂
I must admit I like the idea of low fuel consumption, but when you consider the price of driving a new car it's not so cheap, you can buy a lot of petrol with RM 50,000 or more that you'd save on an older car 🤔
But you don't get the new car smell, LOL.
Wow, fuel consumption is really good! Great stuff.
Still support Malaysian product perodua and proton.... More cheaper and easy to get spare part...good fuel consumption... still affordable... High value for sell...
Yup, good to support local products. However, male sure it is a car you will enjoy because you are going to spend the next few years living with it.
I will buy a car if I like it, and if it fits my needs.

Hello from Thailand. Love your review man!
Thank you.
Hi again to the best real-world reviewer in SEA ! I am planning to buy my college son this car, but i am worried that in speed of 12-17kph (yes that is our normal early morning traffic speed here in the Metro Manila, Phils!), will the turbo engine consume more fuel? My son and I test drove this car and really fell in love with and despite being more expensive than the Honda City, we are probably 65% going to buy it. Tia for answering my question
At low sppeds this car would have an advantage. Even when idling, it saves fuel because at idling and low speeds, the 1.0 litre engine works without the turbo ( basically) so consumes fuel for a 1.0 liter engine.
Aku mengantuk jika memandu terlalu perlahan rasa nak accident pun ada..
Stay safe uncle
Betul, kita pasti ikut kelajuan traffik tempatan. Tapi tidak bolih mengantuk ya?
@@YSKhongDriving Dalam video ni pun nampak Tuan menguap. hehe
In the Philippines, 70kph is already considered hiway driving. City driving is around 20-40kph.
Hahaha, I know what you mean. I drove there before, and in the city, it is sheer madness.
Bikers rarely stop for the lights to turn green. That's probably one of the main reason that statistically they always top the casualty list. Doesn't take rocket science to figure it out.
This full spec car is expensive but the best b segment personally which has a c segment feel . Unless u want to squeeze full power this car has decent power and very comfortable. For non China car cant think of a nicer brand new car for this price.
enjoy your blog sir from philippines 🇵🇭, keep it up
LDP uncle.. Lambat Dan Perlahan.. you can go into the fast lane, to get up to 80-100kmh.. left lane is extremely slow.. average 50-80kmh
Safety first, young man, and don't hog the fast lane.
Wow.. above 20km/L... not even another B segment cars can give that figure.
what about driving in penang, especially when driving to work? what kind of figure can it give?
with traffic cut left n right, u know uncle is dragging the traffic, and malaysian dont drive that slow hence not getting what u will get, just for the sake of low fuel consumption
Please watch the entire video. I was following traffic. Anyway I have said what I want to say in the video.
the avanza and those bikes jumping the lights lmao we follow rules (in my head cause - we are in a video) lmao
It is a very relevant real-world road test. You should do more of these tests, although I reckon you should try and drive a bit closer to the speed limit. :D It is amazing how the estimated range increased from 460km when you initially set off to 500km when you ended the trip. I'm surprised that it actually recalculates the range on the go.
As explained before, it measures the amount of fuel you have left in the tank, and based on your current consumption, it recalculates the remaining range.
oh my god 22-23km/L is better than axia claims 21km/L 😅
Nissan only claim 18.2 km/litre.
Nice vid as usual! Stay safe uncle! 😁
Informative review😊😁
Nice review for Almera 1.0 Turbo.
right hand drive?
12:42 hahahha. That funny uncle. For sure la, i also wont drive that kind of speed. Minimum at least 70-90kmh for my ideal economy drive. Usually the 90kmh my rpm will be around 1.5k-2k rpm. Btw that saga i think he doing fuel consumption review too. 😂 hahaha
uncle, how are you so good in handling or camera set up? who will be doing the editing for all video?
I learn. And I edit some of the videos myself. I am not so good as my editor, but I try my best. All these, I learned in the last 2 years by self- learning.
@@YSKhongDriving great uncle, such an inspiration for us not only in driving field, but also in technical field as well.
i head it do have cruise control?
Good shrout. Where can get that?

201 horsepower
Turbocharged engine
7- speed
If not mistaken Malaysia price 93K
Hmmm, that would be a game changer altogether!
Light foot throttle, constantly maintain the average fuel consumption on meter around 5-6.0l/km, it would be fuel saving on any car. Every 10,000km apply deposit cleaner, every 50,000km clean throttle body and combustion chamber would be just nice to maintain car engine condition.
That is the proper way to drive if you are doing fuel consumption.
at 3.00 VCC9037 grab rider just ignored the Red Light ... Gotcha!!!
Uncle YS Khong, thank you for the excellent video and audio quality, 3rd time watching thsi video. We can hear the nvh, maybe might need some Autofoam treatment for this Almera.
Overall im drawn by the feel of the drive during test drive. The Turbo just kicks in at low rpm, i don't know how you resisted from slightly flooring it and have the Turbo kick in especially those slow driving cars, hahaha.
I'm going to rewatch your Genting drive with Almera again after this.
Actually, my foot was flat on the floor most of the time😊
How is the aircon? The coldness? Also since it is only a 1.0 L does the aircon pull down the engine power when turned on?
No problem it has a turbo
Hi sir, may I know what's your feedback on this car for long distance drive ?
We did not drive long distance, but should be good. Fuel economy should be good, and car is stable at high speed. Big difference from previous model.
@@YSKhongDriving thank you sir for the feedback and response ☺️ have a good day ahead sir n stay safe 💪🏻
Almera's insurance quite expensive because of the cars price, but we just pay roadtax as same as driving Kelisa!
don't worry. only in first year, then it goes does significantly. it's a nissan afterall huhuhu
Uncle, what is the km/h per 1000 RPM?
In top gear ot is quite high, but I didn't check. If I remember correctly it o
Is around 55 to 60 kmh
20-23km/l
Better fc than axia.
Looks like economical engine record by toyota/daihatsu going to nissan soon.
No other car in 2021 cam reach this stat as i know.
Does Malaysia use litres per 100 km or kilometres per litre or both?
Both.
@@YSKhongDriving Oh, so Malaysia is one of the few Asian countries that use L/100 km. And it also uses km/L like other Asian countries. Interesting!
How does this compare overall to the Proton Saga 1.3 2019 Facelift?
You can buy 2 Saga.
Besides what uncle mentioned 2x SAGA, also ~2x more fuel efficient than SAGA. SAGA is one of those high fuel consumption for its size between 9 -11KM/L for my model
@@wbtoo6945 FC depends on how you driving it. As a Almera 1.0T owner, I think this car is like 20-40% more fuel efficient than Saga 2019.
FC aside, I think the beauty of this car this the low end torque which helps the car accelerate more effortlessly (compare to 1.5n/a), the NVH control and the solid ride & handling. 😊
@@Ryden116 Yeap. FC depends on how each individual drives. Most ppl drive their car 90% in normal manner. Spirited driving occasionally, from your input we can easily assume Normal driving 16KM/L and eco driving 20KM/L. That is super good FC indeed. I always use range onto FC that gives a good idea how a car performing.
@@wbtoo6945 Yes you are right, recently I got average of 16-17km/L for 90% mixed taman road & town driving conditions. 😊
"the new grab car" haha
"i hope I dont fell asleep" lmao
You should take it to the gas station, fuel tank to get the actual liters if consume.
Yes, but this is free content, right? What you see is what you get.
Uncle I would like to buy B segment sedan in March. But l heard from my friend old almera a lot of quality issue and claim. Not dare to buy this latest almera. What do you think
You should go and check out the car yourself instead of listening to Ah Chee Ah Chor.
Not really as this new Almera doesn’t have any problem at all including gearbox. So you should be fine with this Almera

Thanks for pointing out E-CVT uncle. So many kucing kurap experts talk like they know cars, but dont even know there are ratios in CVT also. They must have qualified from the Dodo University of Technology 😂
CVT development is very fast-paced. Problem is people get fixated ideas and then shut their minds to everything else.
what i don't like is boot smaller. no longer an almari. me no liek. other than that. yeah superb
YS, I think 25km/L is achievable if you put the car to ' N ' during a downhill cruise...hehe
I am sure, but we wanted real world results achievable by anybody, and without compromising safety.
No lah, just switch off the engine when going downhill, you can get 50km/l. Guaranteed.
Hahaha, and perhaps a re-shaped car if you don't know what you are doing.
Sir when will release in the philippines the new nissan almera 1.0 turbo
We have no idea.
Can you tell me what fuel it use. Is it RON 95 or RON 97?
95 is enough.
Nice video! I don't think fuel consumption is a priority for people who can afford this car, if cost matters, better off with bezza. If I spending 100k, it should be fast 🥰
Cost don't work this way...
Different strokes for different folks. Some may want a bigger car, or better quality. Some just want to know how economical this car is. We are a channel that shares interesting information, that is all.
nissan turbo 1.0 or vios GR sport better🤔
Almera for fuel economy, Vios for spirited driving. Take your pick.
What is the maximum speed for eco mode? Below 120?
Same as normal, just takes longer to get there.
16:08 actually I laughed 😂.”I hope i dont fall asleep man 💤.
Lets see how long does the jatco transmission last... i saw alot of nissan versa/almera in other countries breakdown very easily...
But it shouldn’t any problems about gearbox for this new Almera at all, so it would be fine.
@@emilylimsl9884 only time will tell. Jatco (or nissan calls them Xtronic) is one of the most unreliable CVT out there. My father used to own a Murano 3.5, at just 70K km the transmission already failed... few other friends n relatives had same experience with Teana, Sylphy, Serena etc.....
My old almera doesnt have gearbox problem even after 250,000km...engine like baby...still fresh n quiet even after 6 years. I sold the old one n took the new almera 2021...
@@RamachandranMurugayah old Almera using 4 speed which is generally very reliable... only CVT is bad

23km/l at 80km constant? ,,🤭
My Civic 1.5T does 22km/l at 110km/l constant JB-KL.
Almera can do the same ya 😄
FC of this Almera turbo is not much different when cruising at 80km/h or 110km/h
Yes agree with you even my Civic 1.5-TCP does 22 KM/L at constant speed 110 KM/H. Nothing is weird 23KM/L at speed 80 KM/H.
@@Ryden116 How to compare 1.0 with 1.5 engine. Totally at different level but still my 1.5-TCP can reach 22 KM/L.
If we do a JB -KL run with the Almera turbo, it would probably get better mileage than that, because we can go for long distances with negative throttle, and maintain light throttle. Like I said in my video - what you see is what you get - we tested it in those conditions as you saw it - we did not arrange for other cars to be there, there was no support vehicle, no outriders, no car preparation, air-cond on.
@@YSKhongDriving Hi, uncle. With all due respect, we should try to prove the assumption by doing a JB-KL, KL-JB drive with you. I doubt Almera's fuel consumption would exceed 10% of Civic's FC on highway. City driving wise, yes, definitely given small cc, 3 cylinder + turbocharge. On the highway, we should factor in other elements such as Fuel mapping, torque, CVT design and tyre diameter. I've yet driven a small sedan whose FC is fantastic because the car is ultimately designed for city commuting, therefore the mapping of the engine and transmission which at mainly geared towards pleasant city cruising and enhanced fuel economy. On the highway, it's a different story.
mantapp
Can do one Toyota vios
Good idea.
@3:25 did all those cars just skipped the t.light. demm
at 3.00 VCC9037 grab rider just ignored the Red Light.. and more and more evidence in the recording .. well done uncle!
Yeah when watched till end, a lot of drivers actually did
3 lanes there. Left lane go straight, which is green. Mid & right on red light.
ps: only the exora ran the red light😅
👏🇵🇭
This vs expander.. in fuel consumption.. don't care about segment
We have not tested Xpander fc.
The driving is bias to fuel economy. Practically almost every car drive faster than camcar. I find that small engine with turbo and drive with speed ranging 50 -80 , mostly high way drive with minimum start stop help on fc.
Please watch the video, and listen to what I said.
Looks much better compared to the previous model but it's still ugly.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Even the best looking cars appear bad to some people. And some really ugly cars ate loved by many. Strange world we live in, but everyone is different.
I dont think so...its stylish car by interior n exterior compare to other b segment cars.i owned it.
the thing is,you are driving super slow
