I think the only way Renji becomes a captain is if Byakuya dies and the Kuchiki family isn't inherently tied to Squad 6. His ultimate goal is tied directly to Byakuya, so I think if Kubo had him become the captain of another squad, it'd be a betrayal of his character.
I love his growth in this arc and definitely wish we saw more of him using his new Bankai. I really hope they extend the renji vs bazz b fight. Come on how fire would that battle be??? 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Maybe even have him fight Nanana. I wonder how busted Ichika will be when she’s older. I did not like renji when bleach starded. He grew on me and is one of my favorites, showing the lengths he would go to reach rukia and his bromance with ichigo and byakuya is just a bonus to me!! 💖
Ichigo losing his powers was probably the best thing to happen to Renji, he was doing great before Ichigo showed up, once he did Rukia’s been living in Ichigo’s closet, screaming Ichigo whenever she needs help or if something important popped up. Once he lost his powers Rukia was all Renji’s. I guess it was the best thing for Orihime as well since all of that bonding time got her out of the friend zone. It’s kind of funny that Rukia named her daughter the female version of Ichigo’s name though.

Blame studio pierrot because nothing else happens after SS in manga. Rukias served her purpose and role as a catalyst. Her giving back Ichigos power is paying homage to the beginning, even so there really wasnt much romantic chemistry in the manga
