Keep the high quality re-releases coming. Love the high fidelity 1080p encoding--- Much better than when I watched on Netflix and your website years ago!
Ronny seemed like he wanted to do as little walking as possible. Multiple times he would say, "why don't you go walk up there, and I'll just stay put in this low area..." or, "are we going back to the truck now, or...?" :D
Growing up hunting grouse in the northern LP in thick swamp and aspen, it amazes me that a relative of the ruff grouse would live in such seemingly open lands. Definitely a much needed trip someday, or even for upland birds in the plains.
Ronny looks like he just stepped out of 1955 with his dark-rimmed glasses and cigarette smoking. Reminds me of being a young kid hunting with my Grandpa...love it.
Holy 💩 when he started sauteeing the heart and liver I got the biggest nostalgia flash of my life. Grew up eating pheasant and quail wings and all kinds of liver, gizzard and hearts.
Sage grouse are active in the early morning and evening, and like to lay under brush in the hot mid-day. When frying sage grouse, you don't wanna cook them for too long or else it will be tough meat 👍🏽
Man. Sage grouse hunting looks fun. There has been some great sage grouse rehabilitation where I am in Central WA. Starting to see more of them around. Pretty cool. I love grouse so much. To me they are such an interesting bird. So "simple" yet so good at survival. They really can put up a challenging hunt if you step off the roads.
I think he rolls his own lil cigarillos, i seem to remember something on an earlier episode about it. But that would be dope if he was chiefin on a blunt
My first sage grouse hunt was when I was new to hunting at all and all I had was a 35 pound re-curve take down bow that my brother and I learned to shoot. Well, I might add. I had a couple of arrows with blunt points (dum-dum) on them. I figured on hitting one on the ground since in school we had approached these during class and I figured I could get a shot. My hunting companion later said I looked impressive. He was kind enough to gift me one of the birds he had shot with a shotgun. I immediately entered the market for a shotgun.
I'm thankful there are lots of Sage Grouse on my reservation. Not many of the people hunt them anymore so there's a decent population and ain't too hard to find.
I dig the hunts you go on. From the high price hunts that most of us can't afford, to the small time public land hunts many go on. New to hunting and share your stuff with my son. He play D2 football, while studying to be a veterinarian. He's super 2a, loves animals, believes in providing for your family over trophies, and wants to one day be able to afford to support conservation groups, as well as buy land to start up an area himself. Thanks for helping raise a good young man, and best of luck with future content as well as life, and hunts.
I’ve lived in northern Nevada my entire life and have only seen one sage grouse in my front yard lol. I have seen some snowcocks up in the rubies but those aren’t native. The grouse population is having a hard time with the damn feral horses and pinyon/juniper encroachment
My old man grew up in Eastern Montana...He talked about mixed flocks of sharptails and sage hens numbering in the 100's....that was in the late 40's early 50's....All the locals were of the opinion that sage hens were unfit to eat.....they all wanted to shoot pheasants...... Now they are all but gone.
Holy smokes what I would give for grouse territory like that. We've got the North Woods for Sharp/Ruffed/Spruce grouse here and every few steps I'm dodging branches.
Have a short story recommendation for meateater, I though of your program when I read this. The book is "River Teeth." The short story in this book is "not rocking the boats"
Being sponsored by US border patrol is based Edit: Seeing Steve with his "c'est la vie" attitude juxtaposed with a very crotchety Ronny is about as funny as it gets
I am going on my first ever pheasant hunt on November 17 it is at a hunt club so they are not wild I I like it I will go out west and do the real thing. My buddy is a member of the hunt club he set it up for me and my dad all 3 of us are hunting total of I think 20 birds. I bin shooting trap a lot very excited for the hunt this will be the first game bird hunt I will ever go on I have hunted all my life for white tail went hog hunting and squirrel hunting but never pheasant hunt
This sounds like you might as well just do this in a day you want to go on a long hike. Don’t even look at the day as a hunting trip. Look at it as of it were an all day bird watching hike where you might be able shoot some of em.
I kinda cant wait for when Steve is like 75 and he just films himself sitting in a deer blind spitting his wisdom as he waits for deer to come by.
And it’s a different show haha
His narrative and written word are impeccable
What wisdom???
@@JamesClark-lw6swdon’t hate he has more wisdom then any other person his age. You damn key board warrior
@@JamesClark-lw6sw just watch some of his stuff, after a few episodes youll see.
I love how he said, "What if I die from it?" as he takes a drag on a cigarette..
Cigarettes are at least enjoyable, fleas are not.
😂
Bro got fleas from that jackrabbit and still wanted to keep hunting after Ronny was done. Steve, you’re a savage!
Man, fleas and ticks are the WORST.. I dont blame Ronny for wanting to pack it in lmaoooo
Steve is such a positive go get em attitude guy. He got trichinosis and just brushes it off. Swell attitude.
It's just fleas lmao.
Ronny is one of the only folk that gives Steve shit. love it.
one of my favourite episodes. wish you guys did more upland bird episodes in general.
Ronny is hands down one of my favorite guests to watch. Him and that southern crawfish/rice grower. I think his name was Bud.
What episode is that?
@@Dudeman778 308
@@cj7069 thank you, i thought you meant an episode of the show rather than the podcast
The banter of best friends in frustrations and success is always entertaining and awesome to watch…especially these two
Only hunting show I’ll watch the reruns. These guys produce a great show glad to see them become so successful they earned it.
Ronnie the legend.
Everyone needs someone like Ronnie in their life 🤣
Ronny is in the top 4 of my favorite guests you've ever had.
Always a fun episode when these two guys are together. Old friends catching up with each other doing some hunting.
Keep the high quality re-releases coming. Love the high fidelity 1080p encoding--- Much better than when I watched on Netflix and your website years ago!
I love this kind of angry hunting buddy!
Lol, We all have one.
Ronny seemed like he wanted to do as little walking as possible. Multiple times he would say, "why don't you go walk up there, and I'll just stay put in this low area..." or, "are we going back to the truck now, or...?" :D
I just re-watched the old dusky grouse video with Ronnie. So glad to see there are more hunts with him
Growing up hunting grouse in the northern LP in thick swamp and aspen, it amazes me that a relative of the ruff grouse would live in such seemingly open lands. Definitely a much needed trip someday, or even for upland birds in the plains.
You two need to do more hunts together. I for one really enjoy them , lost my best hunting buddy 12 yes ago and it really sux
I'm sorry for your loss. Tell your hunting stories and he lives on. I feel confident in saying, he still hunts with you, every time you go.
I love Ronny hes my favorite. Him and the dogs need a show lol
You shoot so well, every shot is precise and impressive!
Those flees ain’t no joke I just had them tear me up 😂
I come for the hunting, but stay for the cooking!
Two guys in the outdoors. Good banter and good food in the end. That's the life🎉
I really like the friendship between Steve and Ronny. :)
I love these re-runs
Love all the meat eater content, but I have to say the best episodes are when Ron and Steve get together.
That's what's life's about right there . Eddie McGowan was mine . U can never take back so much memories 😊 miss u buddy

Awesome flushing Labs! Never seen white and orange ones, but man can they flush! MeatEater and Ronnie are gonna MSGA - "Make Smoking Great Again"!
More hunts w/ Ronny and Kevin Murphy please!

As soon as he picked up that rabbit I was like “ enjoy the fleas!”
It looked for all the world like Homie Ron was smokin a blunt! It was split and rolled!

@@bumpoclock agreed lol
@@bumpoclock I know Steve has to chief once in awhile. He's definitely a lush. But he hangs with Joe Rogan too much not to chief too.
Wish I was able to actually find these guys in season and not just on accident every once in a while.
this was a good cook - nice variety of cuts and methods
loved hunting sage grouse with my dad when I was kid in Wyoming..
Steve. Stevo.. hey... did you think for one second to ask a local expert where the birds were? Dude the Badger was right there! WTF Man?! 😂
Gov's a gun! I'd vote for him 100%!
Fun episode. These different guests are great.
Alot smoother than the Mountain Grouse episode lol

I wish I was as cool of a cat as Steven Rinella 😎. He reminds me of my friend's older brother.
Nice touch on the Modelo 😮💨
pleaaaaase give us more seasons of MeatEater

This was absolutely amazing
Love that Wyoming senator
Loved the B-52 comment in the into
Yay! One more in. I liked!
Come on out to Utah, we have lots of sage grouse! I can take you out for some!
Steve please do a video with Eric Forester hunting chukars. If you combine it with wild sheep hunting it is going to turn into an epic.
I am itching right now, and am not even there 🙆🏽♂️
Excellent show! Makes me want to hunt a sage grouse. Sadly its been extirpated from BC
Great episode!
You two should hunt more. I laughed more at this episode than any other.
Wish someone would make a grouse looking camo or a owl colored camo. They seem to have the right color and pixelation that just blends in.
Great all around !!
Love this guy
I just love their relationship hahah
I enjoyed your hunt even if he didn't look happy but it looks like the meat had a delicious touch to your pallet
Saying sage grouse tastes like venison tenderloin 🤣… More like venison liver with the texture of 8oz boot leather!
Love them dogs.
Ronny Boehme is a legend. I love that he'll disagree with Steve (agreeably)...
Awesome episode

I’ve been in the dog trial fields with Ron while apprenticing to judge and I’d love to go on a hunt with both of yall for sharptail and huns

Great hunt 👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well. I now see where Ron got the intro for his podcast.
These bots in the comments with the ass pictures that type out random shit are hilarious. What a time to be alive.
Worship the Robots!
I have seen a roughed almost this big in bc canada. It unreal the size range in this species
Steve when you decide to come to Oregon to hunt birds look me up we have grouse stacked like cord wood son
Holy smokes what I would give for grouse territory like that. We've got the North Woods for Sharp/Ruffed/Spruce grouse here and every few steps I'm dodging branches.
Please make a video in North Dakota, we have tons of sage grouse
Your buddy was grumpy lmao
You can tell they are good friends because they bicker like an old married couple 😂😂😂😂
22:06 definitely looks like beef or something!
Im all about the spruce and ruffies up here in alaska
Ronnie's the shit!

Smokes like a chimney and worried about fleas. 😂
You should go try ptarmigan in Alaska , seen outdoorboys try a lot
I’ve learned to let the rabbit sit for at least for an hour so all the fleas jump ship

What kind of vest are they wearing? I love the flat bottom game bag.
Got a bit spicy on this one. "All I been doing this whole time is thinking how stupid you were "
I'm curious, what shotshell did you use on this hunt? Looks like there were no pellets in the meat.

I think, from his previous episode appearances, they're Bracco Italianos.
